It was the same morning that Jin and Anko had picked up their Pokédexes. The sunlight streamed into Professor Elm’s laboratory through the large windows. Meanwhile, sounds of chattering trainers receiving their Pokémon filled the air while the other two were waiting for those other trainers to come stand in line for their Pokédexes and then Jin and Anko could get their own Pokémon.
The Pokédex made soft beeping noises as Jin accessed different sections of the interface. He was standing there, waiting while his cousin received her own Dex. Jin couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement as he stared at the empty lists of “sighted” and “captured” Pokémon. He didn’t like the fact that he was “capturing” these little creatures, but he was trying to keep Akira’s words in his heart.
“You’re not capturing them, Jinsei. You’re going out there to make new friends and the only way to do that is to choose them with your Pokéballs.”
It was really the only way Jin could accept going on this journey. It was a way for him to expand his mind and his opinions. He’d take Akira’s advice to heart.
It was a few minutes after Anko and Jinsei had received their Pokédexes. Jin slipped his Pokédex into the inner pocket of his leather jacket and then zipped it up. He patted Anko’s shoulder to get her attention. “Hey,” said Jin, sporting a smile. “The line of kids is shifting. They’re coming here for their Pokédexes, so we should go pick out our Pokémon. There were lots of Pokéballs to choose from.”
Jin showed to be quite energized, something out of the norm for him since usually he was quite reserved. The energy of something new and exciting and to be facing a wonderful journey ahead had given him something to look forward to. Hopefully the excitement was contagious and would catch to Anko.
