For the second time in a month, Haley was back in New Bark Town. Some weeks before, she'd stopped by to steal a Meowth from a nearby estate. Thankfully, she'd been wearing a Team Rocket outfit that masked her face, so she was free to walk around the small town without fear of arrest. As a matter of fact, she'd walked right past her previous target, whom had been none the wiser. The Team Rocket Uniform had hidden her bad eye, and she now wore an eyepatch for the same reason. Her outfit was very different, as well. Where before she'd worn an entirely black uniform, hoodie, jeans, and boots, she know wore a dark green shirt, jeans, and brown boots.
Of course, she wasn't in New Bark Town for no reason. Now that she was official a Team Rocket member, she needed to become serious. The Trainer needed to train up her Pokemon, so they'd all be prepared in case she called upon them. Unfortunately, she'd been using the same Pokemon over and over, so she had plenty of gaps in her team. She aimed to rectify that, training her Pokemon against other Pokemon of the same level.
Now, the intimidating white-haired trainer haunted the Route, looking for Pokemon to test her own's mettle against.

As Haley looked for Pokemon to train against on route 29 the temperate weather was a good first sign of things to come. She would not have to worry about any ill effects while trying to train her team and in the nice weather there was a bunch of Pokemon out and about just looking for a battle. The first Pokemon who decided to try it's luck against her was a Spearow who had recently done some training of it's own and now it wanted to see hownit would fare against a human. It had yet to get a chance as the weaker Spearows had taken up battles of their own against trainers forcing Spearow to fight wild Pokemon until it got lucky enough to find a human and so the sight of Haley walking on the route was very good news. Spearow may have been a common Pokemon here but they were known to be a handful against unprepared trainers making a high level one a nice challenge for Haley. It also meant however that she could not escape this battle either as Spearow would catch up with any escape attempt she tried. The flying type Pokemon doubted that she would want to run away as not many of the other Pokemon innthe area were as high leveled as it was. Even so it was ready to chase her down if she tried to escape as it had waited for it's chance to battle long enough. Looking it's opponent with hawk like eyes Spearow was ready to striek as soon as Haley sent out a Pokemon. If she was as stong as she looked it would need to strike hard and fast in order to win this battle. As it waited for her to send out a Pokemon Spearow started to scratch the ground and cawl loudly in an effort to make her choose faster so it could begin. It was not very patient at all and itncould hardly stand the wait after all this time. It just hoped she would not be a pushover after all the waiting itnhad done. A wild Spearow (Level 7) appeared. Please select a Pokemon.

Route 29 had changed so much since Haley had been here last. Well, to her it appeared so. Although, it was likely simply her perceptions had changed. She had been a kid when she'd come here the first time, naive and sour, not subtle in the least. If she'd tried to join Team Rocket then, she likely would have washed out before her first mission. Now, however, she was older; not yet an adult, but no longer a kid. A Team Rocket Grunt, more practiced in the art of subtlety. She no longer limped half as bad, her slight growth-spurt taking some of the stress off the leg, and she no longer struggled with her vision, used to compensating with her good eye.
Haley wandered around Route 29, looking around. Her Pokemon roamed around her, playing around, mock fighting, and looking for ferals to fight. Sirius the Growlithe trotted ahead of Haley, nose to the ground, tail wagging as she trailed something. Prometheus the Mareep ambled slightly behind her, stopping to smell at every flower and plant. This was her first time with the human and her Pokemon, and she was nervous. She wasn't used to being without her flock, and the sight of Sirius scared her. Hiei the Mankey swung through the trees, occasionally rattling branches to send nuts raining down on Sirius, or Prometheus. In one hand he clutched Riley the Weedle, using his free hand and tail to travel.
The sound of fluttering wings drew all of their attention, seeing a rather large Spearow resting on its talons, scratching the ground and cawing loudly. So it wanted a fight, did it? Perfect, she was looking to train! Putting her fingers to her mouth, she whispered sharply. Hiei bounded from the trees flipping through the air to land in front of her. He dropped Riley the Weedle in front of the Spearow, before somersaulting to stand next to her, Sirius trotting back to stand out of the way.
Riley rose up on her tail, making a disgusted sound. She was getting so filthy! She'd had a good thing going, getting the filthy Mankey to carry her through the air so she didn't get dirty. But now she was being made to stand on this dusty path and fight!
Haley frowned at the bratty Pokemon, hoping she'd learn some humility. "Riley, stop throwing a tantrum, or else!" she snarled, before giving an order: "Use Poison Sting!" The Weedle hissed, but didn't want to try her Master's patience, and so charged at the Spearow, horn glowing purple and dripping with poison.

Spearow was quite glad to see that Haley was not going to back down from it's challenge though it was a bit disappointed in the first Pokemon it would be up against. Weedle were not known for their endurance or their fighting ability minus their poison tipped horn. With that in mind Spearow took this first Pokemon as a sick joke thinking Haley was just teasing it. As she gave the bug an attack order however it was clear that she intended to use the bug in a battle. It might not be a mighty foe but Spearow had no choice other than to battle it though it could still mess with the bug. Even with evenly matched speed Spearow was able to get a slight head start this time around to torment it's foe. It leered over at Riley trying to scare the bug enough for her to run off. The attack did unnerve the bug but she refused to give in to the birds intimidation despite Spearow's best efforts. As the bird returned to it's normal look Riley seized her chance and fired a bunch of poisonous needles at Spearow causing the bird a bit of discomfort but unfortunately not inflicting a poison status this time. Even so it had gained a slight lead over the bird though with her lowered defense she was in real danger if Spearow fought back with an physical move next. Spearow was actually having fun minus getting stung as it saw the Weedle as a tasty appetizer once it got done messing with it's head. The bird just had to decide how long to toy with Riley before delivering a knockout blow. Pokemon Battle

Haley watched disinterestedly as the battle started. It didn't really matter to her how Riley performed, only that she lasted at least one turn. She'd never understood how the Pokemon gained experience, but she'd observed that Pokemon that had battled at least one turn might evolve. Considering the Weedle was more experienced than most her type when they evolved, she assumed Riley would evolve after this battle. So long as she didn't faint, it didn't matter to the Team Rocket Grunt.
The girl snorted as the Spearow leered, doing no damage to Riley. She'd never understood why wild Pokemon insisted on using status-moves; the battle was always over before it could work to their advantage. Her tactics had always been brute force, launching barrage after barrage of attacks at an enemy until it crumpled under the force. She'd never been one to use status-moves, seeing them as a waste of time, giving an enemy time to strike her own Pokemon.
Haley observed Riley as the Weedle took her chance, horn glowing before launching an array of needles at the Spearow. Seeing that there was no tell-tale violet glow, which would signify a successful poisoning, the trainer made a disappointed "Ch!" noise, causing the Weedle to flinch. Hopefully, this wouldn't result in her getting sold off. Although she didn't know it, Haley wasn't evaluating her yet. First evolution form, and often second as well, bug-types were notoriously useless, so she didn't plan on evaluating her until she'd become something useful: a Beedrill.
Nodding, Haley grabbed the Weedle's Poke Ball, holding it up. "You've done enough, Riley." Pressing the button that clasped the ball, the Weedle was unceremoniously returned, the ball placed back in Haley's bag. Grabbing another one, with a lightning-bolt sticker on top, she released the Pokemon inside. The red beam of light formed a sheep-like Pokemon, blue-skinned and white-wooled.
The Mareep bleated uneasily, scraping the ground with a foot. This was her first time fighting in a battle for her Master, and she wanted nothing more than to be back with her flock. She was a herd Pokemon, every instinct telling her to huddle tight with her fellows to be protected from attack. But she knew she had to accept her fate, so she waited for her Master's orders, yellow-striped black ears flicking back.
"Prometheus, don't mess this up!" Haley ordered, before calling out an attack. "Take it down with a Tackle!"

The bird's wings twitched with anticipation, continuing to enjoy this little game with the bug type. It wasn't very often the wild pokémon was gifted with such easy prey from a trainer. Spearow cawed and hopped a tiny bit forward, wings fluttering to further intimidate the little weedle. However, the taunt's effect would be short lived as Haley withdrew Riley for another. The static sheep was certainly not much braver than the poison bug but... just the sight of Prometheus put a dead stop to the avian's toying gestures. It's whole demeanor changed. The already spikey array of feathers bristled further, separating from their smooth outlay into a gruff jutted scale of fluffy exterior. Spearow dug a set of talons into the ground, eyes narrowing into true anger, and let out a harsher crow versus the mareep. Before Prometheus had the opportunity to gulp down her discomfort the bird was coming at her. A sharp beak dug into her puffy side, doing not much more damage than a pin prick as the bird instantly regretted its decision. A tiny static shock snapped against the wild pokémon's face causing it to quickly stumble back shaking its head. It was a close call, but it seemed that the tingle of electricity didn't stick as Spearow put on another fearsome display. Those fierce eyes locked onto Prometheus' own; a gaze boring straight to her core. She shivered. Unsettled by the looks this bird was giving her but... She had an order to carry out as well. With the bird rooted to give her the death stare she took advantage and trotted forward. Her and all her poof rammed into the smaller bird, the bird feeling like it had just been whapped by a pillow. Still, the impact caused some discomfort as Prometheus' weight risked knocking the pointy feathered bird off balance if it didn't stumble back away. Wild Battle

Prometheus shook in her fur, looking at the smaller Spearow. Sparks danced in her wool, giving away her misgivings. She'd never battled before, except for the one with Haley that had led to her capture. The Mareep had always been allowed to hide in the middle of the flock, safe from almost any Pokemon with bad designs. But suddenly she was being sent out against a Pokemon a teammate of hers had been unable to defeat - what was her trainer thinking? But the electric type didn't dare go against her orders, or try to flee. While the master seemed small, unimposing, and crippled, the sheep knew better. Even if the master wouldn't be able to catch up to her, or punish her, in the short time she'd spent with the human she'd seen the unwavering loyalty her other team mates held for her. Prometheus didn't doubt that the others wouldn't hesitate to chase after her, and deliver any justice the master demanded. Perhaps, someday, if she did well, they would extend the loyalty they held for the Master and each other, to her.
The Mareep cried out in distress, staggering back at the sight of the smaller bird rushing her. The Spearow's attack barely hurt, feeling more like she got her wool stuck on a thorn for a brief moment, but the electric type still cried out as though she were being skinned alive. Haley scowled, and barked a loud "Toughen up!" to the sheep, starting to wonder if she was worth it. But the Mareep would some day evolve into an Ampharos, and she could picture so many uses of such a Pokemon. Hopefully the sheep would develop a thicker skin; she'd have to if she was going to last on the Team Rocket member's team.
Remembering her order, the Mareep closed her eyes so as not to be hobbled by the Spearow's glaring gaze, twitching her conical ears as she trotted towards the Spearow to make sure she was going in the right direction. With all her fluff, wool as thick as a cloud, she hardly did any damage, no more damage than a little girl did to her friend in a pillow fight. She looped back around, standing in front of her trainer, feeling slightly braver due to having landed an attack.
Haley inclined her head in way of saying 'good job', and ordered, "Prometheus, don't mess this up. Use Tackle!"

Spearow had seen Mareep scarcely, but enough to know that things could go very badly if it didn't get the upper beak, and quickly. Head tilting to one side, it lost none of its fierce glare as it studied Prometheus, probing for potential weaknesses. Loathe as it was to land blows when that meant brushing up against the static-filled wool that covered most of its foe's body, there was little else in Spearow's arsenal. But it had to hit hard, too, and it could certainly make sure that happened without getting up close and personal. Decided, the ruffian bird dug its talons into the earth again and flared out its wings, the effect impressively intimidating.
Its eyes narrowed in a familiar, piercing way - cutting right through to Prometheus' soul, it almost seemed. Repressing a visible shudder, the Mareep pawed at the ground in a slightly anxious manner, though she was also confused. This bird, for all its cawing and terribly sharp beak, was more content just giving her death glares now. Had it lost its heart to battle? The thought was enough to give the sheep a bit of courage to make her own attack, setting out at a brisk trot before her opponent changed its mind about staying grounded to give her nasty looks.
Breaking into a run as she got closer, Prometheus hurled herself at Spearow as the bird rose up proper and was rewarded with a muffled caw as it briefly became stuck in her wool. Extricating itself with some haste before any static could jolt it, the bird buffeted Prometheus as it fluttered away from her, landing with a short caw of indignation. Haley's Mareep returned to her side, feeling a little better knowing she had escaped being hurt by that sharp beak this time.

Haley narrowed her eyes - eye - to stare at Prometheus. While the Mareep had done passably well up until now, she didn't like how cowardly the sheep Pokemon seemed to be. If the ironically named electric-type planned to stay on her team, and not find herself in the sales chambers of Team Rocket, she'd have to shapen up fast. While Haley didn't like selling her Pokemon - she was a bad Team Rocket member, the kind who got attached to her Pokemon - she couldn't keep them around if they couldn't pull their weight. She'd offer them multiple chances to correct their mistakes, but Prometheus wasn't showing much promise yet. Which sucked, as Ampharos seemed fairly strong, and she could use the light on the top of its tail. She could always go back to Cherrygrove and capture another, stronger Mareep. But Prometheus was on her first chance, and hadn't even earned her first strike, so even if she did, she'd have two more.
The girl raised an eyebrow at the Spearow's attempt at appearing intimidating; perhaps the gesture would appear scary to a Pokemon closer to its height, like her Mareep. As it was, it appeared almost comical to her. She decided she rather liked this mean little bird-Pokemon. Perhaps it would make a good addition to her team? She'd had one a while back, when she just started out, but had traded it away long ago.
"Prometheus..." Haley hummed warningly, seeing the sheep's nervous movements. It better not try to flee, or it would be in the Team Rocket lab faster than it could see 'baa'. But, to Prometheus' credit, she didn't even try. She seemed to be settling into her role, getting into the flow of battle. The sheep trotted forward, as though testing to see what her opponent would do, before breaking into a run when it seemed the Spearow wouldn't react.
The trainer muffled a childish snicker as the bird Pokemon became entangled in the Mareep's fluff. She was vaguely disappointed when the static that ran through the sheep's wool didn't effect it, the bird fluttering away, appearing indignant. Haley wondered what would happen if she pitted the Mareep against a Joltik - would it be stuck in there forever? Entangled in the wool, and locked in place by their shared electricity? That would be a laugh.
Prometheus seemed to be a bit more confident as she returned to her place in front of Haley, a bit more bounce to her stride and her head higher, tail perking up slightly. Haley inclined her head, calling out for the sheep to "Use Tackle, again, Prometheus."

The fierce bird cawed again, wings fanning out in an intimidating fashion as it and the mareep stared each other down. Though, Prometheus' game face could probably use a little work. It was hard to give any kind of stink eye when you were a bright puff ball with a rounded youthful face. In fact, spearow merely took it as a mockery of its own sharp glaring features. Spearow had had enough leering and standing around. This sheep didn't seem to catch on to just how defenseless it was becoming as the avian studied and maneuvered around it. It was time to see if all of its hard work was going to bear any fruit. In a sudden jolt the spiky bird set forth. An angry huff accompanying its run the Spearow headed straight for the fluffy sheep, beak primed. It leapt a bit near the end of its charge so it could dive bomb into the electric pokémon. If one thing could be said of the spearow beyond its temper was that it seemed to hold no fear. It went head first, well beak first, into the statically charged wool to deliver a decent poke to the young mareep. Prometheus yelped in pain, stammering back as the bird rustled away from the snaps of static crackling around its feathers. Spearow huffed again, then let out another of its fearsome cries. Prometheus didn't let the sharp noise cut through her like it did the air, giving a nod to herself and going in for another tackle as instructed. While the bird was busy trying to look tough it took another hit, Prometheus barrelling over it like an old pillow. Wild Pokemon Battle

Haley watched the, rather amusing, staredown. A little bird Pokemon, and a fluffy sheep. How terrifying, she might start crying for mommy and daddy. A sardonic smirk slipped onto the trainer's lips, wondering how just how long the two were going to keep this up. Hopefully it would give Prometheus some experience with an actual fight; fighting wasn't just about attacking, but how you projected yourself. You could be the best fighter in the circuit, but if you didn't act it no one would take you seriously. And the Mareep needed a lot of practice before she could even think about being intimidating.
The sheep startled slightly as the Spearow suddenly leaped into motion, running forward awkwardly, its beak seeming to gleam. She'd never understand why bird-Pokemon insisted on running, when they had a perfectly good pair of wings. Only Piplup and those of its evolution line had an excuse, their wings useless for nearly everything. The birds always looked funny when they ran, as though their legs were weak and uneven, their heads bobbing like a childs' toy.
The Mareep jumped, flinching away as the Spearow's sharp beak poked into her side. She bleated unhappily, feeling electricity dance along her wool in response, dancing away from the sharp pain before twisting, racing at the Spearow and tackling it harshly.
Haley smirked at the Spearow, finding the sight of the electricity dancing across its feathers amusing. She snapped her fingers, recalling Prometheus to stand before her, and lobbed a Poke Ball at the Spearow carelessly.

The spearow did not see this coming. The little bird was so confident that it was going to win this battle. However, suddenly it found itself at the losing end of the fight. Before the little bird could recover and realize where it was it heard somthing get thrown. Seein the pokeball coming it's way, it attempted to jump out of the way but was too injured. The little bird was suked inside the unforgiving sphirical device, with a loud chirp of protest. No it couldn't end like this it just couldn't. This often gets him into trouble with his trainer, who doesn't like him fighting without her say-so. However, after she proves herself a worthwhile trainer, he mellows.
Prometheus shivered as she stood in front of Haley. The human, from what she'd seen, had been kind when she'd captured her. However, in the time the electric-type had been in the trainer's PC, she'd changed. While she'd never hurt the sheep, thankfully, she had been harsh and sharp tongued. The Mareep hoped she didn't have to fight alongside the Spearow - she already had to fight alongside so many dog Pokemon it wasn't funny.
Haley watched disinterestedly as the Poke Ball shook, the Spearow trapped inside. The bird-Pokemon put up a fight, the Poke Ball leaping this way and that, red light flashing frantically. But fortunately, or unfortunately for Prometheus and the Spearow, the ball soon stilled, dinging to signal a successful capture. She stepped forward, stooping down to place the Poke Ball on her Poke Dex. The Dex jingled, the Spearow's information popping up on the screen before the Poke Ball vanished, sending the bird-Pokemon back to the Professor's.
The Team Rocket Grunt eyed Prometheus, the Mareep going still with fear. However, the girl simply inclined her head to the sheep. "Not bad." she said simply, before turning as one of the Poke Ball's on her belt started to glow. Riley the Weedle suddenly popped out of her Poke Ball as she began to glow, and Haley recognized it for what it was - the bug-type was evolving.

The bright light shining on the route didn't only attract Haley's attention. Some bushes rustled and out popped a head. It was a boy a youngster as they so liked to be labeled, a ball cap sitting sideways on his head as he blinked at the transforming pokemon. A wide smile spread across his face. As Riley's evolution completed the youngster was already racing toward the ashen haired trainer. "Haha! Wow, you evolved it? You must be a strong trai--" The boy skid to a stop as the girl's harsh features became apparent. A cold shiver trickled through him as he grimaced. "Er, uhm," he stuttered before shaking his head and mustering up some manners. "Haha, well what I mean is... Let's have a battle!" the kid chuckled to cover his discomfort, throwing a hand up to fiddle with the alignment of his headwear while the other reached behind to pull out a pokeball. "I, Youngster Mikey, challenge you to a pokemon battle!" he iterated. His childish grin was forced back on his face as he focused in on the pokemon instead of the grizzly form of Haley. Haley smirked as she watched the bug-type beginning to glow, ready for the Pokemon to actually be useful. The Weedle had been useless, barely able to deal any damage, and often refusing to battle so as not to get dirty. But maybe now that she'd be a Beedrill, things would be different. If they weren't, then the bug-type could say goodbye.
The Weedle's skin lightened from tannish to yellow, visibly hardening and breaking into segments. Her head bulged, becoming more seperate from the rest of her body before joining with the base of her cocoon-like body. Her pink-ish legs and nose shriveled up and disappeared, and the horns at the top of her head and base of her tail crumbled into dust and disappeared.
The Team Rocket grunt grimaced, glowering at the Kakuna. She'd hoped she would evolve the rest of the way, becoming a useful Pokemon instead of a motionless cocoon. However, she knew it wasn't the Pokemon's fault, and simply settled for returning Riley to her Poke Ball.
Hearing rushed footsteps, Haley looked up, seeing a young boy not much shorter than her racing her way. Her red-brown eye took in the kid, raising an eyebrow as he skidded to a stop. The message was clear: 'what do you want?'
The teenaged trainer nodded as she was challenged to a battle, quickly running through her team in her head. They all needed to be trained up, but this little Rattata didn't seem like it would do much. So, she chose the second weakest Pokemon on her team. "Alright."
Pulling out a Poke-ball with a blue rain-drop sticker on the button, Haley released the Pokemon inside. The little blue duck Pokemon flapped her wings and quacked, readying to attack. "Agile, use Water Gun."
