This is a little unorthodox compared to usual secrety staff talk but... I'm interested in what people think of the swarms.
Currently as it is we spend time picking out pokémon & locations, discussing, and then writing up the blurbs only to have no one really go for any of them. There's the odd time yes, but most often a swarm encounter seems to only happen because the person is already in the area rolling through wild encounters.
With some mentions recently in chat about not bothering to go for them cause people didn't think they'd make it in time... I got to thinking, well, if perhaps 2 months is too short a time. They used to be 1 month until a change in the past year and I think the extended time was much needed. NPC trades are already on a 3 month rotation and so are the Seasons, so it wouldn't be a stretch to extend the swarms too. Keeping in mind that would mean there are only 4 swarms a year.
I haven't done any discussing with other staff on this matter so I can't promise anything but I was curious what everyone else thought, and this is more than just a staff matter so why not let everyone vote! Polls are fun ;D
Feel free to add any comments here as well ^^

I think three months would be fitting, I already thought they were that actually. I think it has been hard to after a swarm in a certain area, if you are not already far ahead and can rather easily put your thread on hold to go back to where you have been before. Most of the time you need to meet some requirements and that can be hard to do within a couple of months. You would need time to try encounter afterwards too, since they are usually uncommon and it is limited how often you can run away from what else you meet I see no problem in there being fewer swarms a year, since what is the point in having a lot, if people aren't getting them anyway? Writing is slow, and if you look at how far people usually get in a month (if they answer fast themselves too). It took me around 2 month to get through Falkner (with a 10 day break as the longest break I took), but that is of course that can also be one of the longer threads.

Ever since we bumped it up to two months, I've been a little uneasy with the way that they fall out of sync with our yearly calendar; every other swarm straddles two seasons which is really weird to me (especially now that I've gotten involved with the discussion on what the swarms actually are). Extending this current one over into October would leave us with swarms in sync with the seasons, as Winter for us starts in November. This is so much better for flavour IMO. I was initially against this change, but I've talked myself into it in the space of a few minutes.
For the record, I personally don't think that two months is a bad waiting period between swarms per se; it just feels it because we have 0 mod power right now.

I have nothing much to add to the above points. I agree that three months seem reasonable, because I'm just slow in generel and only really go for a swarm if I happen to be in the area at the time. I've counted myself lucky when it happened

I agree completely with all these other points. 100%. I mean, I don't mean to be rude, I know how busy you mods are with all you do, but two months just isn't enough time in my opinion. I was actually gonna ask you guys for an extension on the current swarm anyway, because I really want my OC Dark to capture a Sableye for his team, but there's no way he'll make it to the Dark Cave in time as things are now. Im very patient person, and am willing to give you guys all the time ya need for a response on my threads, but Dark is still in Cherrygrove City. And I check my thread like three times a day, waiting for a response, and once I see that someone has, I always reply right away to keep the story going as quick as possible. Please don't get the wrong idea, Im here to have fun and enjoy this amazing site, but right now, Im in kind of a hurry to get to the Dark Cave and catch a Sableye for my OC. So yes, I think three months would be a good idea. Thank you very much for bringing this up.

for some reason i always thought 3 months is the modified length of swarms, or at least when i was mod unless it was changed. lol.
and yeah, a lot of times i don't bother with swarm unless i happen to be in the area or i have money to throw at someone to catch it for me
