As the moon shinned brightly over Cherrygrove City, Venom and his Bulbasaur walked through the dark city streets. However, neither of them was afraid at all. Rather, they were both smiling, as they happily searched for a specific house located somewhere in the city. The house in question was the home of the family who used to be well known in his home region of Kanto for their TM28 Dig, and Venom had every intention of getting one of these TM's for himself. Or rather, for his newly acquired Pokémon, teammate, and friend Ekans. The ninja knew from his research that this family had moved to Cherrygrove City, and he also knew that Ekans could learn Dig. So the Poison type trainer's current mission was to find this family, obtain a TM for Dig from them, and teach it to Ekans as a kind of gift for her.
Venom hummed one of Roxie's, the Poison type gym leader and rock star from the Unova region, songs to himself as he and Bulbasaur walked down the street. However, Venom suddenly stopped, grabbed Bulbasaur, and hide behind a nearby building. "Saur?" Bulbasaur looked up at his trainer, both surprised and confused by his rather sudden actions. "Shhhh..." Venom held a finger over his lips, responding to his partner. With his sharp, ninja senses, he'd heard the sound of a window opening. But who would open a window in the middle of the night? He thought to himself, before slowly peeking around a corner, looking in the direction he'd heard the sound come from.
What Venom saw was a lone figure, dressed in dark clothing, sneaking into the window of someone's home. This made the Pokémon ninja narrow his eyes suspiciously, as he quickly decided to take a closer look. Keeping Bulbasaur in his arms, Venom approached the house the man had just climbed into, making full use of his ninja training, moving without making even a single sound. True, Venom knew this wasnt really any of his business, but if this person he'd seen turns out to be a burglar, Venom couldn't allow himself to sit back and do nothing. It was part of his code as a ninja to never turn a blind eye to those in need, at least that's how Koga taught him to be. Once he'd made it over to the house, Venom slowly climbed into the still open window himself, following the man he saw inside, all while still keeping extremely quiet.

A nice evening stroll. Fresh, crisp air. Little distractions and city noises screaming down the streets. Dancing shadows beyond the streams of light produced by the evenly spaced lamps bearing down on those walking by. Many would find the darkness creeping into their peripheral vision discomforting. Flickers of movement making the mind race and conjure all manner of unsettling scenarios. But Venom wasn't one of those types. The cool breeze whistling through Cherrygrove was a relief from the bustle of daylight hours, and the sky was alight with stars and a half waxed moon. It was a wonderful night to ponder thoughts and plan the journey ahead. Until a peculiar noise reached his ears. The draw of wood along a track hushed barely above the gusts hissing between the buildings. The ninja was well trained to know that sound, and of sharp mind to quickly figure that it was an oddity for such a time of night. Especially with all the wind Cherrygrove was getting recently. Drawn in by curiosity the young trainer would be met with more noises. Drawers opening and closing, things hitting the floor... Something was definitely not right. After climbing into the window after the shady figure there was no possible doubt that there was a burglar. A man, dressed in black and wearing a matching cap, cursed under his breath in an adjacent room and scraped his boot along the floor. Probably kicking something. He came back into the study where the open window had gained him entrance. His stopped suddenly, noticing a shade skirt from the window into cover. The man grunted, standing tall and puffing out his chest so the R emblazoned on his uniform could be easily seen in the moonlight seeping in from the window. "Alright, whoever you are come out right now," he ordered. Narrowed eyes scanned the room while a twitchy hand reached for one of the pokéballs on his belt. "I'll tear this place apart if you waste my time here." Team Rocket Grunt Kyle has noticed someone followed him in! How will Venom proceed?

After making it inside the house, Venom stuck to the shadows, keeping himself out of sight at all times. At the same time, he silently made his way closer and closer to the burglar, trying to get a positive ID on the thief. Venom also kept a good, but not too good of a hold on Bulbasaur, as the plant Pokémon stayed as quiet as possible as well. Once Venom reached the room he heard all the noise from, he slowly looked around a corner, narrowing his eyes into the darkness. It took him a moment, but the ninja soon realized who he was dealing with. The Poison type trainer's expression slowly changed to a more serious one, recognizing the man he saw as a Team Rocket grunt.
Venom knew all about this evil organization from the stories Koga told him about his days as a Team Rocket admin, and those were stories that Venom was sure to always remember. The young ninja didn't resent his father/master for what he did back then, but there was no way he was going to walk down the same road he did. While Venom didn't really hold a grudge against Team Rocket, he knew he had to stop this grunt here and now. Then, when the grunt became aware of Venom's presence and yelled out, Venom snapped back to reality, but didn't respond or step out of the shadows. Instead, Venom quietly snuck around the Team Rocket grunt without being seen or heard, getting right up behind him. Once that was done, Venom got a small smirk on his face, and gently tapped the grunt's shoulder, whispering very suddenly behind him. "Surprise stupid."

The Rocket stood still, quietly squinting through the darkness trying to figure out if maybe he was just imagining things. No one responded straight away, and he couldn't hear anything suspicious... Maybe it was just a trick of the moonlight creeping in through the windows. He frowned, glad no one had been around to see him acting so skittish in the dark. He was about to turn back to his business when he felt a pressure on his shoulder. "What the-!" The thug spun around and hopped backward, whispered words following him until the grunt's eyes made their way to the shady figure. The sudden company was so huge! How in the world hadn't he noticed the guy creeping up on him like that? A further flush of rage filled embarrassment burned in the Rocket member's cheeks, fists clenching as he gritted his teeth and glared at the boy. The words repeated in his mind again. "The only stupid one here is you. Don't you know who I am? If you did you'd know I'm not the kinda guy you sneak up on and walk away from," he retorted gruffly, puffing out his chest so the bright red 'R' on his uniform was barely visible in the dark house. Without another word the man reached to the utility belt at his waist and chucked one of the two balls seated on it. Rocket Grunt Kyle sent out his Diglett (LV 12)! Select a pokémon for battle

After observing the Rocket grunt's reaction and facial expression, Venom couldn't help but laugh. The ninja smirked once more, as a few chuckles escaped his lips, but he managed to stay relatively quiet, so as not to disturb the residents of the house. "Oh man...It doesn't get any better then that." Venom remarked between his laughter, as Bulbasaur found himself sharing in Venom's laughter, but to a lesser extent. Once the ninja had heard the grunt's words, he stopped laughing, and just looked at him with a grin on his face, not looking intimidated at all. "Yeah, I know who you are. I know all about Team Rocket, but you still don't scare me. Also, whose walking away?"
Venom kept his composure as he said all of this to the grunt, and decided not to bring up his father Koga just yet. Venom was sure the grunt would know about the former Team Rocket admin, but Venom was too much of a tease to tell this grunt where he'd gotten all of his Team Rocket information from at this time. Then, once the grunt had sent out his Pokémon of choice, Venom took a quick step back. Looking down at the small Ground type before him, Venom grit his teeth a little, getting a bit nervous. As one of the two types that had an advantage over Poison types, Ground types had always made Venom a little nervous. Bulbasaur was quick to notice this, and looked up at his trainer with concern.
"Bulba! Bulbasaur!" The plant Pokémon called out to his trainer, looking up at him, and giving Venom his best expression of confidence. This made Venom snap out of it, as he looked down into his partner's eyes. This was exactly what Venom needed to get his grin back, as he nodded at Bulbasaur. "Your right. Thanks Bulbasaur. I needed that." Bulbasaur smiled up at Venom, very happy to see him back to his usual self. "Saur." Both trainer and Pokémon turned back to their opponents after that, and Venom was quick to come up with a counter measure for the small Ground type. "Grass beats Ground, and since your so fired up, get in their Bulbasaur!" Venom made his call, and Bulbasaur jumped right out of Venom's arms, standing strong and facing his opponent. "Bulba!" The Poison type trainer then pointed right at the Diglett, and made his first command. "This is our first chance Bulbasaur! Vine Whip!" The small plant Pokémon extended his vines from the bulb on his back, and then whipped them with all his power right at the Diglett. "Bulbasaur! Saur!"

The grunt took half a step backward, ire continuing to flow through his veins. The ruffian didn't like this kid's tone at all. The battle hadn't even begun and he was already acting so confident. Did he think he'd won already or something? The criminal grew more and more frustrated with his fellow intruder, not paying any mind to the mild hypocrisy of his current thought patterns. He took one look at the Bulbasaur and scoffed. "Oh, type advantages aren't everything, boy. Diglett, show 'em what's what and Dig!" The Rocket's Ground typed companion chirped in reply, wasting no time in ducking back down into the ground surrounding it. Venom would be able to faintly hear the mole as it ploughed on through the foundations of the house that they were battling in. "You can't hit what you can't see, but my Diglett can easily strike you whenever it wants," the gangster bragged arrogantly. "Now do you get it? We're not all talk; we've got a heck of a lot of bite to match our words."Venom's Bulbasaur had stopped still by this point, trying to work out exactly how to carry out his orders now. He had no choice but to retract his vines for now, earning yet another sneer from the opponent. "That's right, just sit there and wait for your inevitable defeat. It won't be long before you regret opposing Team Rocket. Both of you."VS. Rocket Grunt Weather: N/AGrunt's Diglett | Level 12 HP: 100% (28/28 HP) Status: Underground Diglett used Dig! VS

Despite Diglett disappearing below the surface, Venom didn't falter. Rather, he kept his cool, and stayed calm and focused. "I cant see Diglett, but your strategy is predictable. Every trainer who faces a Diglett in battle expects it to use Dig. Its kinda what they do, but we don't need to see it to beat it." Venom replied to his opponent, showing no fear in the face of his and Bulbasaur's Ground type opponent. Then the ninja slowly closed his eyes after that, letting his ninja training take over once again.
Venom ignored all the Rocket grunt's trash talk, and just kept focusing, trying to listen for the sounds of the mole Pokémon burrowing beneath the surface. As soon as Venom had a good idea of where Diglett would surface, he opened his eyes, and turned them towards his own partner. "There Bulbasaur! Just stay there, and as soon as Diglett shows itself, hit it with your Vine Whip!" The Poison type trainer pointed out the spot where he knew Diglett would appear, then gave Bulbasaur his next set of instructions. "Bulba!" The plant Pokémon nodded at his trainer, understanding his directions. Bulbasaur stood his ground with a ready look in his eye, ready and waiting for the Ground type to show itself.

"Tch." The sound escaped through gritted teeth as the dark clad man glared at the cocky young kid. Predictable? He hated to admit, so wouldn't, but the shifty boy was right. But that didn't mean it was ineffective. "Don't matter if you know it's coming or not," he began his retort, huffing quietly and pulling back his shoulders. "Your weed's still going to be on the receiving end of it."A rumble beneath the kitchen floor signaled the ground type's movements, the rattle of wood trailing closer to Bulbasaur as his foe homed in. It wasn't quite where Venom had indicated, Bulbasaur questioning whether to trust the tremors or his Trainer on where he should set his focus for his own attack. The grass pokémon gripped the floor, bearing down and waiting. Eyes locked on the location Venom had given him. It was a good choice. The diglett's movements had proved a feint, the rumbles disappearing for a moment before the burrower erupted out of the flooring just where Venom had promised. A wave of heavy dirt and worthless mineral loomed over Bulbasaur as the kitchen flooring broke away. In a flash Bulbasaur sent his vines lashing toward the point of origin. Diglett's screech overwhelmed the clatter of polished pine and slap of churned earth that tidal waved over the bulbous pokémon. It was a decisive hit. Bulbasaur's vines not just hitting their mark, but managing to whip Diglett while all of its defenses were down. The battle was over so quickly. The Rocket Grunt stood, jaw ajar, baffled by what had just happened. He didn't stay motionless for long though. "Lucky shot," he grumbled. He knew better, but couldn't stomach saying it in front of Venom. He recalled the diglett and withdrew another pokéball. "But let's see how well you do without any advantages," he sneered. The ugly look swiftly disappeared when Bulbasaur began to glow. A shiver shot down his spine as a tingle of panic crept into his limbs. VS. With their first victory secured, Venom grinned a big grin, knowing that one Vine Whip would be enough to knock Diglett out of this battle. "Yeah! I knew that would do it! Nicely done Bulbasaur!" Venom gave his partner some praise for a job well done, also enjoying how worked up the Rocket grunt was getting, noticing that he has quite a temper. "Bulbasaur! Bulbasaur!" The plant Pokémon smiled big, very happy with this victory as well. However, both trainer and Pokémon knew that this battle was only half over. They both turned back to their opponent, watching him draw his second Pokeball. Based on his words, Venom quickly deduced that the grunt would likely be using a Normal type Pokémon next.
After considering his options, he decided to keep Bulbasaur in the battle. "What do ya say Bulbasaur? Wanna go around one more time?" The Poison type trainer asked his Pokémon, and Bulbasaur turned to him, giving him a smile and a nod. "Bulba!" Bulbasaur had felt more confident then ever, and then, out of nowhere, the plant Pokémon started to glow. The sudden light show made Venom's grin vanish, as a look of surprise took over his face. All the while, his partner continued to glow, grow, and change shape. The ninja knew what this meant, and it made him smile. "Bulbasaur, this is so great!"
This process last for several seconds, then the glow finally faded away. In its place was a whole new Pokémon, one that was far more powerful and confident then Bulbasaur. "Ivy! Ivysaur!" The new Pokémon called out, a testament to his new form and strength. The Poison type trainer's smile grew in size, as he looked down at his new and improved partner. "You evolved! Way to go partner!" Venom was quick to check Ivysaur's new stats on his PokeDex, and was also surprised to see that Ivysaur had also learned a new move. "Yeah, Im definitely sticking with you now Ivysaur. So when this guy's second Pokémon shows itself, hit it hard with your Take Down! Then follow it up with Vine Whip and finish it off!" Venom made his call, confident that they could win this battle with their next string of attacks, and also excited to see just how much stronger his partner had become. "Saur! Ivysaur!" The seed Pokémon nodded at his trainer's command, ready to charge right into the Rocket grunt's second Pokémon the second it appears on the battlefield.

The odds certainly weren't improving for the Rocket member. His eyes darted back and forth subtly as he began surmising the best possible way to get out of here. The kid was blocking the door thanks to that sneaky ninja move, which left only the window by which they had both crawled in here to begin with. Yup, that was the only option. "Go on Meowth, don't let that shrub hit you. Sweep around and get it with a Bite," he instructed. Take down was a powerful move but it wasn't always so accurate. He was counting on that. He shouldn't have. Kyle's luck was no where near that good tonight. Instead of interrupting the beastly grass-poison type with a fake out the man continued to underestimate Venom's experience and bond with his starter pokémon. Ivysaur didn't just hit the slippery feline, he drilled tate slim cream frame right into the cabinets. The poor cat didn't have a chance. Her head slammed back into the splintered wood and instantly fell unconscious. Before Venom could even turn a smug grin toward the Team Rocket Grunt however, things were flying through the air and he was saying his goodbyes. He didn't even recall his meowth. Some money had gotten caught as he dug through his pockets to pull out a smokey colored marble and throw it to the ground. The thief didn't even look to see what he'd pulled, thinking it had been a smoke ball as he spun around and booked it toward the open window. The gleaming round object that smacked the floor cracked open but no smoke erupted out of it. It was just a sweet candy. VICTORY!
Ivysaur grew to LV 17! Rocket Grunt Kyle was defeated! He dropped £500 and... a marble candy?
He was home free! Hands reaching for the frame as he positioned to vault himself from the kitchen like a professional athlete. Just as his feet left he ground and his body twisted in preparation for the landing his eyes went wide. A cry of frustration and disbelief raged into the night air as a black shape swept over him and tackled him to the ground. "FREEZE!"The two bodies thumped to the ground and the sound of more footsteps and cuffs could be heard outside. At about the same time the door was forced open, a pair of uniformed men swooping inside like the trained professionals they were. Flashlights in hand it was but a moment before one of them was approaching the young ninja after giving a signal to his partner to head upstairs. "Thanks kid," the man spoke after giving Venom a good look, as if to check against a description. "We got a call about a disturbance. These poor people just keep getting harassed by thieves so we can't thank you enough for lending a hand. If not for you that criminal might've gotten away before we were notified. Here." He trailed off, dipping a hand into one of his pockets and pulling out a set of bills. "For your services tonight."There were still sounds of struggle outside when the lights came on in the stairwell. Hurried footsteps pattered down as a well aged man descended, followed by presumably his wife with the other officer trailing, and made a bee-line for the open window. "You ruffian! I'll make sure I have a guard dog waiting for you next time!" He then picked up a thermos that had been drying on the counter and tossed it at the Rocket Grunt as the police pulled him to a stand in cuffs. It was notable that he had no disillusion that this would be the last time someone came after them. With a huff he turned and walked over to Venom, a broad smile on his face. "Thank you m'boy! You sure gave him the good ol' one-two ey?" The man briefly glanced at the damage to the kitchen, but he appeared completely unbothered. "Well I can't let you whisk off in the moonlight without a proper reward." He brought his hand up, with notable light rope imprints on the wrist, and offered a technical machine with the number 28 written on it. "This is what that dastard was after. You can take care of yourself though so I know it'll be in safe hands with you. I hope it comes in handy one day," he beamed, giving Venom a nod before saying goodnight and walking over to his wife. QUEST COMPLETE!
Venom received an additional £1500 and TM28: Dig!

After Ivysaur's single strong hit against Meowth, Venom was surprised at how much stronger his partner had become, not even having to use the Vine Whip he'd ordered as well. Once the shock had worn off, Venom smiled once again, their victory over the Rocket grunt finally secured. "Alright! We won our first trainer battle Ivysaur!" Indeed, up to now, Venom had only had training matches against Koga, Janine, and some other ninja's back home, but never a real, no holds bard battle against another trainer. Ivysaur turned to his trainer with a smile of his own, and extended one of his vines towards Venom to give him a kind of high five. The ninja was more then happy to oblige, slammed the palm of his hand against the end of Ivysaur's vine. "You were unbelievable partner." The seed Pokémon was very happy to hear that from his trainer, having never imagined he'd grow this strong before he met Venom. "Ivy! Ivysaur!"
However, trainer and Pokémon quickly ended their little celebration when they noticed the Rocket grunt escaping, and leaving his Meowth behind as he did. Venom had always hated people who mistreat their Pokémon, so this made him glare, and chase after the grunt. "Hey, don't run away! What about your Meowth?!" Ivysaur was quick to follow his master, but when the grunt threw the small marble-like object on the ground, they both stopped, preparing themselves for a smokescreen. But when nothing happened, they both lowered their guard, taking a closer look. "Huh? What's this?" The Poison type trainer knelt down to the small piece of candy, picked it up, then put it away into his pocket with a shrug, along with the money the grunt had dropped, deciding that both may come in handy later. It was then that Venom remembered the Rocket grunt, but he didn't go after him again, hearing what was going on outside with a smirk on his face.
Venom looked at the police chief as he approached him, listening to what he had to say. After listening to his praise and thanks, Venom smiled and nodded at the policeman, putting the reward money away as well. "Don't mention it. It was nothing. I know all about Team Rocket and what they do." The ninja told the officer, always ready and willing to foil Team Rocket's evil plans, and to never end up working for them like his father Koga did. It wasn't until then that Venom remembered the real reason he was here though, which was to get the TM for Dig for his newly acquired Ekans. However, this sorted itself out when he saw the owner of the house running down the stairs. After getting a small laugh out of watching the man throw a thermos at the Rocket grunt, he listened to what he had to say.
When the older man handed Venom the TM he'd come here for, Venom got a big smile one his face once again, his eyes getting a slight glimmer as he accepted the TM from the man. "Thank you so much sir, Ill use it well." Venom bowed to the man in thanks, then turned, and left his home with Ivysaur at his side. When the two had reached the entrance to route 30, it was finally time for the moment Venom had been waiting for. He reached into his pocket, pulled out Ekans' poke ball, then tossed it up into the air, letting her out. "Come on out Ekans!" The snake Pokémon appeared before Venom and Ivysaur, looking at them and wondering why she'd been called upon. "Ekans?" Venom and Ivysaur both smiled at Ekans, as Venom knelt down to her.
"I know your not too happy about being caught Ekans, but that's why me and Ivysaur have a gift for you, as a way of saying welcome to the team and the family. Here, for you." The Poison type trainer said to her, holding the TM for Dig out to her. At first, Ekans was confused again, not sure what she was looking at. "If you use this TM, you'll learn how to use Dig." Venom said to her, which made Ekans' eyes widen with shock, making her turn back to her new teammates. "Ekans?!" The snake Pokémon had never been given any gifts before without having to scare other Pokémon for them, and she suddenly felt something warm inside of herself. As Venom and Ivysaur continued to smile at her, she decided that this was a feeling she could definitely get used it. "Please take it Ekans, then lets head to Violet City together, and win our first badge." Venom said to her, as Ivysaur nodded in full agreement. "Saur! Saur!"
Once this new feeling had finally settled, Ekans nodded at her trainer, and took the TM from him, letting it absorb into her body. Just like that, she'd learned how to use Dig. This made Venom and Ivysaur smile once again, both of them very happy she liked it. It was then that Venom stood back up, thanked Ivysaur for all his hard work today, then recalled him back to his poke ball for now, giving him a break. The ninja then turned back to Ekans, holding his arm down to her. "C'mon Ekans, get up on my shoulders." With a small blush, a smile, and a nod, Ekans happily slithered up onto Venom's shoulders, wrapping her long body around him for support. "Ekans. Ekans."
The snake Pokémon had finally started to truly trust Venom, and see him as not just her master, but also her first real friend. Venom continued to smile at her, and gave her a gentle rub on the side of her head after she'd made herself comfortable on his shoulders. "Okay, its finally time. Lets go!" With that said, Venom ran off into the route, jumping from tree to tree like he'd always done when he lived in the Safari Zone back in Kanto, bound for Violet City, and his first gym badge.
OOC: Add the marble candy item to Venom's inventory please, and teach Ekans Dig in place of Wrap. Thanks.
