The young trainers outburst had no effect at all on the elder's stance towards the young fire type. Even if the young trainer's Pokemon was both a rare sight and possessed a type advantage over both of his Pokemon Li was not going to bow down no matter how angry Melinda got. Once he realized that Luna was going to try and use one of her ice type moves he quickly ordered both of his Pokemon to attack hoping they could strike before Melinda's Vulpix could score a hit." Hoothoot use Hypnosis on that Vulpix and Bellsprout use Vine Whip on Cyndaquil." Unfortunately for him Luna was both faster than his Pokemon and higher leveled as well. The ice type Pokemon had one more surprise up its sleeve however as its attack could hit both Pokemon.
Luna fired a could of powdery snow towards both of Li's Pokemon causing heavy damage to both of them and leaving Bellsprout with less than half its health remaining. As the two Pokemon recovered from the attack Cyndaquil saw an opportunity to defeat its rival after all this time sending an Ember towards the golden Bellsprout before it could attack. The combination of snow and fire was too much for the plant to endure as it fell over in defeat. Hoothoot was still able to battle but now it would be fighting a uphill battle as it finally managed to launch a move of its own.
The owl's big red eyes looked right into Luna's blue eyes and sent a series of hypnotic waves towards her. Even her higher level was not enough to fight off the sleep inducing Hypnosis as she curled up and fell asleep leaving Cyndaquil to fend for itself until she was able to wake up. " Well that temporarily solves my numerical disadvantage but that combo was stronger than I had anticipated. I have to give Cyndaquil credit for getting help from such a powerful trainer." He said as the next round was about to start.
