Some red color moved further into Wurmple's cheeks at the trainer's compliment, though it was hard to tell thanks to the wild pokémon's normal color. The bug quickly moved to get its head back in the game however, as last time it was too busy with its thoughts the electric mouse made good use of the time. With a huff the young larvae pokémon narrowed its focus on the crafty pikachu and stared hard, watching every little movement in study. It didn't see any sparks though. What could he be up to it wondered. All of Florus' actions were well beyond anything Wurmple could anticipate. Who would? An electric type playing in the dirt. That was just something unheard of by wild standards. So when a big clump of thick wet mud came hurling at it, Wurmple was caught completely by surprise. With nothing but a moment of rising panic and a short squeak it was swiftly knocked over by the mud shot. It rose rather quickly, head still a bit spinning when it curled up into a wheel and rolled its way over to the gardener pikachu in a flash. A flash only relative to the normal speed of a squirming worm of course. Another good collision between bug and mouse that sent both bouncing away from each other. ((Many apologies for super lateness!)) Battle Weather: Clear Wurmple | LV 6 | Shield Dust HP: 52% (12/23) Status: Paralyzed Used Tackle! VS

Florus was an oddity for his species, actually preferring digging in the dirt to playing with lightning. He was still good at the latter, but it was so destructive that he didn't like using it very often. Unless he was on the beach or in the desert, because there was little to no plant life to harm and because he could make lovely glass formations at the same time. Perhaps he could convince his trainer to take him to one of those two areas at some point in the near future. First, they had to get through this forest.
Some of his breath wheezed out as he was struck again, but Florus wasn't down just yet. "Be careful," Finnian warned, both not wanting him to be hurt and not wanting him to knock out his opponent either. That wouldn't help them capture him, unfortunately, and Finnian kind of liked the little bug.
Florus nodded in understanding, thankful that he had some mud left in his paws as he flicked it at the Wurmple. He thought it would be less painful than a bolt of electricity would be, and hoped to be proven correct about that. Mentally, he was already bracing himself for the retaliation that was sure to come. Battles weren't his thing, but he had to admit this wasn't terrible thus far.

With each round that went by, the worm Pokémon was feeling more and more pressure. Its situation was getting worse and worse, and while it had done some damage to it's opponent as well, that did little to reassure it. Based on the battle up to this point, Wurmple could tell that the Pikachu and it's trainer were holding back against it. Wurmple had no idea why that was at this time, but the Bug type did its best to keep its guard up none the less. However, the small bug Pokémon was so lost in thought, that it was surprised when the electric mouse shot more mud at it. It was a real wake up call for the worm Pokémon, but when it was preparing it's counter attack, it suddenly stopped in its tracks. Several sparks could be seen coming off Wurmple's body for a moment, as the small worm shivered a bit. These were clear signs that Pikachu's Static ability was finally kicking in, as Wurmple's attack never came this round. If Wurmple wasn't feeling the pressure before, it was definitely feeling it now. The Bug type Pokémon waited for the sparks to stop, and once they finally did, it then waited for Pikachu's next strike, attempting to brace itself for it. Wurmple hoped that the next round would go its way, as it still wondered what the human could be planning. Battle Weather: Clear

Finnian was briefly concerned when he saw the sparks coming from the Wurmple, even though he had just seen Florus use an attack that had nothing to do with electricity. Then, he remembered that Electric-types sometimes had that effect on people and Pokemon without intending to and he relaxed somewhat, satisfied that the Wurmple wasn't getting hurt by the sparks.
He could also tell that both Pokemon were getting quite tired, and he was concerned that if he allowed Florus to attack once more the poor bug would faint, and he didn't want that. So, instead, he threw a Pokeball as the Pikachu was readying another glob of mud, taking the opportunity to intercede in the battle. Luckily for him, Florus didn't mind not getting a warning like Talia would have, and instead simply set down the dirt he'd been gathering, patting it back down with his shovel since it wouldn't be necessary. He expected even if Finnian didn't succeed in capturing the Wurmple right away he'd try again instead of letting Florus continue attacking, since that had been how things had gone with the previous battle.
For his part, Finnian was delighted by how well his first two battles were going, but he wondered if things were going to be this easy for him when he actually got to the first gym. Probably not, and he wondered how best to prepare for that very fight. He'd have to ask Talia later, since he figured she'd better know about the region.

The wild Wurmple's body continued to shiver, as small sparks of electricity kept appearing from it's body. So much so that it caused the small Bug type Pokémon to shut it's eyes tightly to try and cope with the feeling. Wurmple wasn't sure what to do at this point, trying desperately to think of a way out of this. It had to admit, at first, it was kind of having fun with this battle, but now it just felt trapped. However, it would soon come face to face with a way out. Literally. With it's eyes closed tightly, and it's mind deep in thought, Wurmple was totally unprepared when a lone Poke Ball came flying through the air, and hit it right between it's eyes. "Wurmple!" The Bug type Pokémon let out a cry of shock, opening it's eyes back up, looking at the Poke Ball that was now right in it's face. Wurmple only had enough time to process what the round object was, before said object opened up, and sucked the wild Pokémon inside. The lone sphere hit the ground about a second later, and the Wurmple began a desperate struggle from the inside. All the trainer and his Pikachu could do was watch from the outside, as the Poke Ball kept on shaking back and forth, and the light on the front continued to flash on and off. After several short moments of silence and anticipation, the orb finally stopped shaking, letting out a small "DING" sound, as Wurmple remained on the inside. Wurmple has been captured. If he didn't know any better, Finnian would have decided that he was a great battler and an even better trainer. But, he knew better, so he wasn't going to let it go to his head. Instead, he cheered happily and did a little dance before he went to pick up the Pokeball. "Okay guys, let's get to town," he said, looking around the collection of Pokemon he now had with him. He had two more now, which was wonderful, but he also had to work on training them now. With all of them tired, trying to do any more today probably wasn't a good idea. Instead, he wanted to get to town and take a breather, and allow his Pokemon to rest up before they tried anything else.
It was a good plan, but anyone who knew him at all knew that he wouldn't be able to sit around for that long. No, he'd be up and out bright and early the next morning regardless of how much rest they all got. Just par for the course with him, as it were.
Right now though, their destination was on the horizon and the path to it seemed clear. He was going to make a break for it while he still could.

Wurmple Name: Cara Gender: Female Level: 6 Moves: Tackle, String Shot, Poison Sting Ability: Shield Dust Nature/Personality: A quiet, introverted soul, Cara is also bright and interested in the world around her, though she prefers to observe quietly if not completely silently. She doesn't talk much at all, instead using body language. She does enjoy a good spar every once in a while though.
