Maxwell king » OOC: On the hunt for Poliwag The eerie silence of Dark Cave would send chills through most people, Max however was brimming with confidence and ready for a second round of venturing throughout the cavern. Originally Max had come to Dark Cave in search of the apparently swarming Sableye, this time however he was in search of a water type pokemon in the form of Poliwag. To find a Poliwag, Max was sure that he would have to venture deep into the depths of the cave.
Max and his team ventured further into cavern until they reached the Underground Lake section. Anubis had taken the lead in front of his teammates, the young Riolu was clearly keen for some action today. Glancing upon the rather sizeable lake in front of him, Max cast his old rod that he had purchased from Violet City's Pokemart. The old fishing rod was nothing fancy, however it appeared sturdy enough to get the job at hand done. For Max, he was just hoping that lady luck would be in his favour today and allow him to find a Poliwag without any trouble.

As Maxwell cast the line into the lake it was not very long at all before he got a bite. The Pokemon on the other end put up quite a fight as the old rod barely held together but after tugging as hard as he could the Pokemon on the other end came into view just beneath the surface. As he tugged one final time Maxwell managed to land a Pokemon and though it was a tadpole Pokemon it was not quite the one he was hoping for as it started to flop around on the shore. The Tympole was completely lost as it wondered what in the world had just happened when it saw Maxwell holding the old rod and managed to put two and two together. Once it realized this trainer was the reason for the disturbance it grew angry as it flopped towards him. Tympole was not normally a Pokemon would would resort to violence out of the blue but this one was not a typical Tympole having been raised in the murky depths of the Underground Lake that forced it to be far more aggressive than others born outside the lake. That aggression was going to have to play a role in the upcoming battle as it was outnumbered by Maxwell and his Pokemon and it did not have any plans on running away from this battle wanting revenge for being disturbed for no apparent reason other than the young man trying to encounter another Pokemon. Tympole could hardly wait to get started as it watched Maxwell trying to work out a plan of attack while Maxwell selected a Pokemon. A wild Tympole(Level 12) appeared. Please select a Pokemon. OOC: Old rod gains 1 level. It is now level 2.0

Maxwell king » OOC: On the hunt for Poliwag The resistance Max could feel on his line was intense, the young male was brimming with excitement in hopes that the pokemon on the end of the line was a Poliwag. Max's facial expression switched to one of surprise as a tadpole pokemon emerged from the underground lake, it was not Poliwag however. The wild pokemon that Max had landed from fishing was a Tympole.
Anubis the Riolu was paying close attention to the wild Tympole, the small water type pokemon flopped towards he and his trainer and did not appear to be very happy by this sudden turn of events. Max noticed that the Tympole appeared to be irritated as a result of his fishing trip, Max was not worried however as the numbers advantage was indefinitely in his favour.
"Let's get this show on the road Anubis, start off with a Quick Attack!"
Anubis nodded his head in agreement with his trainers directions. The wild Tympole had likely never seen a pokemon accessorised to the degree that Anubis currently was, the golden eye paint, golden earrings and the golden relic hanging around his neck stood out no matter where he went. Anubis glanced once more towards his wild water type opponent before he begun to run quickly towards Tympole, leaving behind him a trail of energy.

Tympole stared at Maxwell as he choose to use Anubis as his first Pokemon wondering what he was planning. Anubis was quite strange looking to Tympole and it did not look like anything native to the lake or connected areas. The mystery surrounding its strange opponent caused Tympole to pause a moment as it tried to come up with a strategy to defeat the young Riolu and that pause was all it took for Anubis to make his move. His lighting fast speed kicked in as he started his Quick Attack as he dashed towards Tympole while leaving behind a trail of energy while Tympole could only watch in terror as the small blue Pokemon approached. The tadpole had no chance to dodge the attack as Anubis scored a direct hit. Though Anubis scored the first hit Tympole had a few tricks of its own as it started up a Round croaking horribly in the process. The terrible song was quite painful to listen to and the rocky walls surrounding the lake caused the song to echo making things worse. Anubis had to hold his ears to try and dull the terrible noise but it hardly helped as his sense of hearing was a curse in this instance. Though the song was unpleasant to say the least Tympole could not maintain it for long as it had to stop to catch its breath allowing Anubis to finally uncover his ears and recover from the attack. With the first round now over both Pokemon were just about evenly matched with Anubis having a very slight edge. The next round was on the horizon however and Tympole was no more pleased than it was when it was first pulled from the water. It had a nasty idea in its head in the next round that it thought would make Maxwell regret ever fishing it out of the lake. Wild Battle Weather: N/A Tympole | LV 12 | HP: 72% (27/37) Status: Normal Used Round! VS
Anubis | Lv 13 | Inner Focus HP: 78% (29/37) Status: Normal Used Quick Attack!

Maxwell king » OOC: On the hunt for Poliwag The short pause that the wild Tympole had taken provided Anubis sufficient time to close the distance between he and his new opponent. Anubis launched his body towards the tadpole pokemon and directly hit Tympole.
"That's it Anubis, nice start!"
Max was astonished by Anubis' speed, the young Riolu was getting faster and stronger with every battle experience he participated in. As Max re-fixated his gaze onto the battle at hand he could observe the facial expression that the wild Tympole had, it was clearly not all too pleased. Tympole begun to make an obnoxious croaking sound that echoed throughout the rocky walls surrounding the Underground Lake. The sound was terrible, Anubis could be seen trying to cover his ears in hope's of dulling the tadpole pokemon's unorthodox attack.
Max and Anubis were clearly a little worse off for wear after having to be the audience to Tympole's display of horrid singing. Both Anubis and the wild Tympole looked for the most part evenly matched, with that thought in mind Max had a plan that he would attempt to execute at some stage, for now though he thought more of the same would be beneficial.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it, Anubis let's go with another Quick Attack!"
Anubis' gaze was fixated upon the wild Tympole, likewise it appeared the tadpole pokemon was doing much of the same. As the quicker of the two pokemon Anubis made the first move to break the stand-off as begun to dash towards Tympole leaving behind him a trail of energy, the accessories that Anubis was wearing certainly didn't seem to be hindering him at all as his speed was still blinding.

Anubis had put Tympole in a very awkward position as it could not keep pace with the young canine nor could it do enough damage with its first attack to pull ahead. At least one of those things could change however as the young tadpole got ready to unleash its nasty plan. It was going to use Anubis's speed against him and strike right after contact was made to cause as much damage as possible. Like before Anubis was able to take off at blinding speed as Tympole could only sit in place knowing the coming attack was going to hurt but knowing that if things went well the pain would be worth it for what it could do to Anubis in return. Anubis slammed right into Tympole but just as he tried to turn around after scoring his his a powerful Bubblebeam hit him in the back causing massive damage but to make matters worse the water weighed down his fur so much that he could not move as fast as he had previously. It could not stop Quick Attack from working but the damage caused was a bit higher giving the tadpole Pokemon a very slight edge. Both Pokemon were starting to show signs of tiredness but Tympole was quite proud to cause so much damage with its sneaky attack. Both Pokemon now how to fear a critical hit at their current health and missing as well as they were neck and neck. Tympole knew if it did not knock out Anubis in the next round things would look very dire as it prepared to fire another Bubblebeam the moment Anubis got within range knowing this close battle would come down to the wire. Wild Battle Weather: Clear Tympole | LV 12 | HP: 45% (17/37) Status: Normal Used Bubblebeam! VS
Anubis | Lv 13 | Inner Focus HP: 43% (16/37) Status: Normal, Speed -1 Used Quick Attack!

Maxwell king » OOC: Let's take a chance! Anubis was quick, blindingly quick to be exact as the wild Tympole did not move. The canine liked pokemon crashed tackled his body into the toad pokemon with no regard for his own safety. It turned out however that the wild Tympole had devised a plan, take the brunt of Anubis' attack and then retaliate in close quarters.
Tympole's Bubblebeam attack was effective to say the very least, the signs of tiredness from each of the two battle combatants was evident. Anubis' fur was soaked from the water type move and with the fight as close as possible Max couldn't bear watching his fighting type partner faint.
"Good fight Anubis, you've done well my friend"
Maxwell retrieved a pokeball from his backpack, this particular pokeball however was a unique one known as a Lure Ball. It's appearance was characterised by a blue top with a red "V" going up the middle which is decorated by three, vertical, yellow lines. Lure Ball's were used to catch pokemon found via fishing and were said to have a higher rate of capture for this purpose. The situation to use this strategy was optimal, with Tympole having been fished to the surface, the increased chance of capture was all to alluring for young Maxwell.
"Let's hope this works!"
Max tossed the lure ball in the direction of the wild Tympole that he had fished up from the Underground Lake. Anubis was close by and fervently attempting to shake his fur dry, it was only as the uniquely coloured ball floated past him that the fighting type pokemon realised his trainer had decided he would try to add the wild toad pokemon to his team.

Though Tympole thought by gaining a small upper hand in the battle it would be able to win in the long run it had underestimated Maxwell and Anubis as it had not anticipated the young trainer trying to capture it especially not with a Lure Ball. The small water type had no idea just how effective a Lure Ball could be against Pokemon hooked by a fishing rod but it was about to find out as Maxwell tossed the ball at it while it remained fixated on Anubis still thinking the Riolu was going to attack any second. By the time the tadpole put two and two together and realized Maxwell's intention it was too late as the ball struck it between the eyes. A bright blue flash filled the room as Tympole disappeared in the ball as it started to shake. Tympole tried to slam into the sides of the ball from the inside to break free but it quickly realized just how hopeless its situation was as its health being so long combined with the balls catching bonus was quite a challenge to overcome. With the first shake Tympole could hardly move as the ball had done quite a number to its confidence and the second shake filled it with dread knowing time was running out. The third shake went by without issue as well since Tympole was just too exhausted to keep fighting anymore and not a second later a loud click brought the hard fought battle to a close. It was in this moment that Tympole realized just how much it had messed up in challenging Maxwell as it was not able to break free from his Lure Ball. Anubis on the other hand benefitted quite a bit as he gained a few levels and even tried to learn a new move. They may not have captured the Pokemon they were after but they still had reason to celebrate their hard fought victory nonetheless. Anubis gained 2 levels and is now level 15. He is also trying to learn Force Palm but he already knows 4 moves. Would you like him to forget a move so he can learn Force Palm? Tympole has been captured, please complete the code below. Maxwell king » OOC: Back at it again, Poliwag, you know I'm coming for you Max's carefully executed plan had caught the wild Tympole off guard, the tadpole pokemon had been anticipating Anubis to use his blinding speed to attack once again, that clearly wasn't the case though. By the time that Tympole had realised what exactly was going on, it was too little to late as the Lure Ball connected directly between the water type pokemon's eyes.
Watching a pokemon get captured was a feeling that Max truly couldn't describe, it gave him a sense of joy and satisfaction that was for sure. Tympole had fought until the very end, a trait that Maxwell was excited to have his new addition execute in the near future.
Max walked over and picked up the Lure Ball with Tympole inside and placed it into his backpack for safekeeping. As Max turned back around to look at Anubis he noticed the fighting type pokemon attempting to execute a new move, although Max had not yet found the specific pokemon he had ventured to the Underground Lake for, luck was certainly in his favour at this point in time.
"I'm proud of you Anubis, with every battle you continue to reach towards your great potential!"
Anubis acknowledged Max's kind words towards him with a simple nod towards his trainer, his quiet and humble nature was something Max hoped that other members of his team of pokemon would learn from. Anubis fit the mould of a natural leader, leading by example through is actions rather than his words.
Max motioned for Anubis to join him by his side as he once again cast his old rod into the Underground Lake, the young male adult was quietly enjoying the relaxing experience. Max could only wonder what challenge he and his team may be faced with next, at heart he was still hoping for a Poliwag to appear, whether that would come to fruition was something he was sure to find out in due time. OOC: I have updated Max's PC with the coding for his newly acquired Tympole and also replaced Anubis' Counter move with his newly learnt Force Palm, just wanted to save you some time by Me handling it, hope that's okay March!

As Maxwell tried his luck again with his old rod it was not long before a small tug at the line signaled another chance for him to hook the Pokemon he was after. The weak tug may not have been a good sign at first but as Maxwell started to reel in his catch a second far stronger tug signaled the beginning of quite a fight as the Pokemon on the end of the line fought with all of its might to break free from the line. Despite the tough fight it put up however Maxwell was finally able to fish the Pokemon out of the water as a tough looking Poliwag came flying out of the water and landed right in front of him confused as to why it was no longer in the water with the rest of its buddies. Once the tadpole saw Anubis however it quickly realized it had been tricked into being fished out of its home and it was not very pleased with itself. Though it was not in an ideal situation it was a pretty strong Poliwag unlike most of its friends and it certainly was not going to lie down and let Maxwell capture it without putting up quite a fight beforehand. It may have looked cute but Poliwag was no pushover having learned a number of moves to protect itself from other Pokemon in the lake that could also help fend off the young trainer's Pokemon as well. The only issue it faced was fighting on land instead of the water as it rarely left the murky depths of the Underground Lake though it knew adapting was the only way it could keep its freedom. Poliwag blew a series of bubbles as it waited for Maxwell to select a Pokemon so it could try to keep itself free from becoming the property of a trainer. A wild Poliwag (Level 16) was fished out of the lake. Please select a Pokemon. OOC: No worries, RNG was pretty nice this time. Maxwell's Old Rod gains .5 levels and is now level 2.5.

Maxwell king » OOC: bless the RNG overlords! Using Max's last Lure Ball! Max had been peacefully fishing in the Underground Lake, it was a relaxing way to pass the time that much was clearly evident. At first Max felt a light tug on the line, even lighter so than the Tympole that he had previously fished up and captured after a close fight with Anubis. Suddenly the old rod took the full weight of whatever pokemon had taken the bait, the fight between Max and the unknown wild pokemon had been alot harder than he had initially expected it to be, thankfully though he was able to bring the pokemon to land. Max noticed that wild pokemon that he had fished up and could not contain his excitement,
"Second time lucky and I find what I've been looking for!"
The wild Poliwag that was now standing in front of Max at first looked confused by the sudden turn of events having been fished out of its own home. It did not take too long for Poliwag to realise that it had been tricked and that the bait on the end of Max's fishing line was all a ruse, the tadpole pokemon seemed aware that it would likely have to fight for its freedom and thus blew a few bubbles to bide the time as it awaited it's eventual opponent. Max motioned for Alter to stand in and ready to battle as he uttered in a lower toned voice so that only the ground type pokemon could hear what he was saying,
"Okay Alter, I want you to distract our new friend over here while I go to work on capturing it!"
Alter was surprised that Max was resorting to distraction to assist his attempt to capture the wild Poliwag, the mole pokemon wasn't particularly fond of being ordered around and essentially remained still as it gazed over towards the Poliwag, it seemed as though Alter wasn't all too keen on helping his trainer execute his plan. Regardless of this less than pleasing turn of events, Max had retrieved another Lure Ball from his backpack, this was his last of the kind. Max smiled as he looked over towards the wild Poliwag and tossed the uniquely coloured ball towards the tadpole pokemon, now all he could do was stand-by and hope for the best.

As Poliwag waited for Max to order one of his Pokemon to attack the shiny Diglett that the young trainer sent out looked lime quite a promising target for it to battle as it had a type advantage. While it thought this was a good plan something seemed to be very off as the Diglett did not try to attack at all just staying in place As Poliwag went to make a move of its own however the tadpole realized it had fallen into a trap as Alter was nothing more than a decoy as Max tossed a Lure Ball towards it before it could escape. The ball struck the young water type on the tip of its tail as it trapped it inside. After the ball shut close in mid air it fell to the ground and started to shake violently as Poliwag tried to escape. The Lure Ball was a pretty powerful ball but Poliwag was determined to keep its freedom despite the ball having a boosted chance of capture as the tadpole slammed into the sides of the ball trying to break free. With each and every shake Poliwag desperately tried to avoid the same fate many other Pokemon had been met with even as each and every shake reduced the hope of Poliwag escaping but before long that hope completely shattered as the ball finally clicked shut. As hard as Poliwag had fought to break free it had come up just short as the Lure Ball managed to just pull off its job ending Poliwag's freedom and granting Alter a few levels for acting as a distraction in the battle. Now that the battle was over Max was free to try his luck in the lake again or to explore another area of the estate if he wished. Alter gained 2 levels and is now level 21. He is trying to learn Slash but he already knows 4 moves, would you like him to forget a move so he can learn Slash? Poliwag was captured, please complete the code below. Maxwell king » OOC: Thanks so much March for the Estate visit! Max's plan had been relatively simple, use Alter to distract Poliwag by diverting its attention to an ensuing battle. As the Lure Ball connected with Poliwag's tail and engulfed the water type pokemon inside, Alter couldn't help but shake his head as he wondered how the wild Poliwag could possibly fall for such a simple decoy.
The wild Poliwag, trapped inside the Lure Ball fought its absolute hardest as the ball shook violently on the ground, it was to no avail however as the increased strength that the ball possessed was too much as the ball eventually stopped moving and a distinct click sound could be heard to signal that the capture had been successful. Max was filled with joy as he raced over to where the motionless Lure Ball lay,
"I can't believe that actually worked, thanks Alter for the helping hand!"
Alter looked over to his trainer, the trainer and pokemon were clearly not in sync as Max was filled with energy and excitement while the ground type pokemon was far from that, Alter always seemed to enjoy disobeying orders and not getting any feelings for others for he was worried that like too many times before they would come back to hurt him. Max placed the Lure Ball containing his newly captured Poliwag into his backpack and then retrieved Anubis' and Alter's pokeballs,
"Thanks for the good day out guys, time to rest up now and keep moving on."
Max returned his pokemon into their respective pokeballs and then placed these into his backpack. The male young adult surveyed the Underground Lake, his visit had been quite fortuitous as his pokemon had gained some valuable experience in battle and Max had also added some new members to the team. Max wasn't quite sure at the moment as to how or when he would integrate his newly acquired Tympole and Poliwag into his team, that would be a decision for another day. With a smile on his face Max began to head towards the exit of the Underground Lake, if he were ever able to bump into the owner of the Estate, Marchbaby, one day he would like to thank him in person for allowing him to enter his estate.
