Bishop swore softly under his breath. He hadn't thought that the slight level difference was going to make that much of a difference. Maybe the Sentret had just gotten lucky or was a lot stronger than it looked. Either way it was clear he was asking more of Topaz than she could give right now.
"All right Topaz, good effort but I'm not leaving you out there to get beat up," he said, summoning her back into her pokeball. With a deft movement he released Rex to complete the job. The Swineub should be strong enough to get it done and also needed all the experience he could get before they fought Falkner.
"Rex, use your bite attack!"
After this fight he would make sure to praise Topaz and double check her wounds. He didn't want her, or any of his pokemon really, to feel badly about any of their encounters. That he reasoned would make them all much happier about being part of his party.

Bishop breathed a sigh of relief when Rex came in to save the day. With the threat averted he checked Topaz and found, to his delight, that she still seemed ready to fight. Poor dear hadn't even stopped to think how close she was to defeat! Then he also checked Rex who seemed scarcely the worse for wear. Then, after seeing to there wounds and taking a bit of time to rest he gave the whole crew a bit of a pep talk. He was really pleased that they fought hard for him. That meant a lot to the young trainer. After a good long while of rest, eating and just passing the time it seemed everyone was feeling good and ready to go. "Alright, we'll set off again to see what we can find. Topaz, you walk with me. Before long you should be tough enough to handle an encounter all on your own." The little ghost type seemed pleased with the praise and walked close to her trainer. She was really going to be something else with a bit more experience under her belt! (Ooc: Yes, please let Rex forget Mud Sport and learn Powder Snow! And now the little crew is off again looking for wandering experience points. )

Bishop had been training his team in Route 29 for a while now and his tussles with wild Pokemon had started to draw some unwanted attention. A suspicious looking red-haired boy had been watching the wandering trainer from a distance and was intrigued by the ghostly shadow that was walking beside him. What was this curious Pokemon he wondered and how did this teenage boy manage to obtain it? As soon as Bishop's battle with the Sentret had finished, the stranger accosted Bishop and aggressively threw out a blue Pokemon in front of him. The Pokemon was a Totodile and blinked nervously as though it feared its trainer. "Oi! You there!" challenged the red-haired boy. "Hand over that Pokemon walking beside you at once! Whatever that thing is.. It deserves a strong master like me."
A Passerby Boy has challenged Bishop to a battle, sending out his Totodile to fight! (Level 10) ((OOC: Also, since you've reached the 5 page mark, the Pokemon radar is now active choose what Pokémon on the route you encounter, so long as it is no rarer than Uncommon! )

He glanced at the red haired stranger, bristling at the tone the other fellow was taking. Even more so he was offended the state of the other's pokemon. By it's reactions he judged the poor thing to be mistreated in this other trainer's care.
"Or I could beat the stuffings out of you and set that poor pokemon of yours free. What kind of trainer are you to bully those in your care?"
While filled with rightful indignation Bishop still appreciated the seriousness of the situation. This guy might be one of those Rocket team members he kept hearing about. He sure talked like he suspected they would. The idea of any of his little ones falling into their hands was more than he could stand.
"Your coming back now Topaz," he said, withdrawing the Sableye. With the same smooth motion he sent out his Pikachu to meet this threat.
"Blossom, use Shock Wave! We'll teach this bully some manners!"

Silver was rather surprised by the moxie that Bishop showed, despite this the dark red haired male was confident of a victory both in the verbal warfare and the battle at hand. As the faster of the two pokemon, Blossom executed it's Shockwave attack first and dealt a significant amount of damage to Silver's water type pokemon.
"I mean you're welcome to try but you definitely won't succeed against Me, I'm just way too good. Now Totodile, use your Water Gun attack!"
In response to its trainers commands the big jaw pokemon used its Water Gun attack, the attack hit Blossom the Gardener Pikachu directly however clearly did not have the same effect damage wise as Blossom's electric type move had.

My but this trainer had a big mouth! A pity, for him anyway, that his pokemon was badly out gunned here due to the type disadvantage. For a minute Bishop thought to argue with him; to point out how incorrect he was in claiming that he had this battle all locked up. Then he reconsidered that idea. Why engage in a war of words with this delusional young man? He would let his pokemon speak for him.
"Blossom, use Shock wave again," he said calmly, not even bothering to look at the other trainer. Why change up a winning strategy after all. His water type seemed doomed to be beaten and unless the red haired dude had some more pokemon with him that would be the end of that.

Though the passerby boy tried to talk tough he quickly started to lose his temper as Blossom fired off another Shock Wave. " Totodile you had better dodge this attack or you will be in for a rude awakening when I am done with you." Before the water type could react however the Shock Wave had scored a direct hit leaving Totodile unable to battle and with the young man fuming in rage. Topaz gained 1 level for her participation and is now level 4. She is trying to learn Foresight but she already knows 4 moves. Would you like her to forget a move so she can learn Foresight? Bishop gained 300 Poke for his victory.

Bishop frowned as the other boy threatened his own pokemon. Then even more so when he began to rant after loosing. At first he didn't say anything. Instead he just let all of his own party out of their balls as he went to see to Blossom's health. It was a sad state of affairs that he couldn't trust another trainer not to hit him in the head with a rock or something when his head was turned. "Be glad I'm not a pokemon thief," he said simply, examining Blossom and not finding her injuries serious. "It is very tempting to release that Totodile of yours so it can find a more caring trainer." This was said without even looking at the red haired trainer. Once his Pikachu was tended to he glanced towards the other fellow but only briefly before turning to walk away. "And if I catch you out here again bullying anyone, trainer or pokemon, you'll regret it." With that said he turned to walk away. There was a little grove of trees not too far away where he had seen some HootHoot loitering about. Bishop wanted to catch one of his own before moving on from this route and into Cherrygrove. (Ooc: Left it open in case Silver wants to argue....but if he does Bishop will probably just have Blossom shock him till he stops talking. As for my pokemon leveling go ahead please and let Blossom drop Growl to pick up Quick Attack and Topaz can forget Leer to learn Foresight. )

The red-haired boy was about to start arguing with Bishop but a man in a lab coat came rushing up towards him. It was one of Professor Elm's aides. "Hold up son!" interjected the new arrival to the scene. "It looks like you have no more Pokemon to defend yourself with. Please come back with me..." "Get your hands off me old man," retorted the passerby boy. "My Totodile is fine, it's just sleeping at the moment." "Now, now, we know how difficult it can be to lose for the first time... it's a part of growing up... but we need to be careful with all those dangerous Pokemon lurking in the grass..."The voices of both the teenage boy and the Professor's aide faded away into the distance as Bishop walked towards the grove of trees. Having been on Route 29 for a while now, Bishop was well attuned to the area and it seemed he knew exactly where to go to find Hoothoot for there in the very first tree he came across, was the Pokemon he was looking for. His eyesight must be quite good because it was already getting dark and the Pokemon was barely visible up in the canopy. Hoothoot (level 8) has been encountered! Shiny Check: aNlTUeGi1-421-42

With Topaz walking by his side again Bishop let the voices fade out behind him as he walked. He felt a little bad for losing his temper but bullies who liked to talk tough and pick on people really got under his skin. People like that usually needed to get a serious attitude adjustment. Hopefully the professors aide could talk some sense to him.
Soon enough they found themselves at the tree line and staring up at the Hoothoot. The sight of the bird pokemon helped to improve Bishop's mood immediately. Even better it looked like a strong, healthy specimen.
"You feeling up to this Topaz?" he asked, knowing that she wasn't. The idea though was to build up her confidence and let her get a bit of practice. He would try to switch her out before the fight got too hard on her.
"Use your scratch attack!"
With that he crossed his fingers and got the next pokeball ready so he could switch her out quickly as the need arose.

Hoothoot was at first blissfully unaware of the oncoming trainer and his pokemon, that was until it overheard the noise that they were making as they came towards it. There was no longer any time to relax, Hoothoot was sure that the team was going to try and battle him, so the owl pokemon took it upon itself to use its speed to gain an early advantage. Hoothoot pecked its small beak again Topaz the Sableye, the young darkness pokemon was still becoming acclimatised to the rigours of battle, in response to the owl pokemon's attack Topaz reefed its sharp claw along Hoothoot's face causing the owl to screech in pain. VS. Wild Hoothoot

He was right. The Hoothoot was strong. That was a mixed blessing however. The owl pokemon would make a great addition to his team. But now the problem was catching it without getting any of his own pokemon too badly roughed up. That first hit had been enough for him to withdraw Topaz. He wanted her to get some experience and toughen her up; not get her beaten so badly she would be afraid of battling.
"That's enough Topaz....good job. We have the owl right where we want it."
With practiced ease he called the little ghost back to her pokeball while he also released his Charmander.
"Ember, your up. Use your Ember attack!"
A little fire should should soften up his new friend here enough to make the capture. At least Bishop hoped so. Battling was a delicate balance between growing stronger and suffering for the cause. He was determined to cause as little suffering as possible.

The wild Hoothoot tried to dive bomb the Sableye again but Bishop quickly pulled out the young Pokemon and replaced her with a more experienced member of the squad. Ember bore the brunt of the wild Pokemon's Peck attack but brushed it off immediately, having grown quite accustomed to battles now. The Charmander inhaled a gulp of chilly air which ignited flames in his belly before spitting out flames at the Hoothoot. The owl was badly singed by the attack but retaliated again with another flurry of Pecks! VS. Wild Hoothoot

Alright, now they were cooking with gas as the old saying goes. Or in this case cooking with fire. Bishop did have an affinity for the fire types and so loved to see them in action. Now that Ember was in there they should make reasonably short work of the Hoothoot. Best not to get over confident though.
"Ember! Another fire attack! Your doing great!"
If she could hit with another Ember attack the bird pokemon might be weak enough to capture. He didn't want to over do it of course. There was no point in inflicting any more pain than was necessary to make the capure!
