Candidate Aptitude Test
Before you can be accepted into the IPF we have an aptitude test for you to complete. Based on your answers to these questions you will be given the choice of 3 divisions that would best suit you, so it's important to answer as per your own ideals. There are no 'right' answers. Reply here with just your answers. No need to copy the questions:
1) You are a part of an escort with the responsibility to protect a child. You get ambushed by Team Rocket and the child ends up in the hands of the criminals. How do you react? A. Follow behind at a safe distance and have them lead you to their base of operations where you have a shot at taking down the brains of the operation.
B. Block off escape routes and use movement impeding attacks until danger to the child is minimal; where direct attacks pose little risk to anyone but the Rocket members.
C. Negotiate the child's release, trying to appeal to their sense of decency as well as gaining insight as to why they want the child.
D. Strike back swiftly with recklessly guised precision, convincing the Rocket members you hate them more than you care about the child thus intimidating them into releasing the kid for their own safety.
2) There has been a hostile take over of the Goldenrod Department Store. The criminals are holding civilians hostage and have all the resources they could dream of. How do you recommend approaching the situation? A. Find out what they demand and compromise for the civilians' safety.
B. Send in a small specialized team to quietly infiltrate and subdue the hostiles.
C. Have negotiations distract the hostiles while an attack team lands on the roof to take the group out swiftly.
D. Surround the building and make it obvious there's way out of this, and it'll be even worse for them if they harm the hostages.
3) You encounter a man you think you recognize as a known felon. How do you approach your suspicions? A. Confront the individual, keeping them in your sights while getting confirmation from Control. B. Strike up a friendly conversation to buy time while you secretly check the IPF Database. C. Arrange an accidental run in that reveals the contents of the container they're carrying. D. Tail them, keeping note of where and what they are doing.
4) Someone approaches you accusing a trainer nearby of physically abusing Pokémon. How do you act on this unofficial report? A. Immediately track the suspect down and arrest him, ready to engage in a battle if they resist. B. Directly confront the suspect to get their side of the story before taking action. C. Instruct another Constable to find the suspect while you file a report. D. Ask a third party about both the suspect and the accuser to form a more complete picture of the situation.
5) You hear rumors that there is trouble at Olivine City's Lighthouse. Do you..: A. Follow the trail of mouths passing these rumors along and discover they're a cover for something else. B. Get permission from the Commissioner to send some badges to ensure things are alright. C. Investigate the Lighthouse for any truth to these rumors. D. Ignore it, they're just a rumors of a city halfway across Johto. You have trouble here to contend with.
6) You've heard rumors of an illegal Pokémon fight arena. What do you do? A. Find and arrest any known participants for abuse, depriving the arena of fighters.
B. Track down the ring leader(s) from questionable import trade records to cut the head off the snake.
C. Poke around and enter as a contestant, then on fight night have backup bust the entire lot.
D. Investigate and aim to conform the arena into something like the Goldenrod Gauntlet, ensuring the safety of pokémon and people whilst still allowing the organized club to do business.
7) A new vendor at the local market is selling their stock for impossibly little. It's assumed the product is stolen or fake. How do you approach the shop? A. Visit as if an interested buyer, inspecting the product for its legitimacy. B. Be forthright with the vendor, asking some questions and making sure they know you're on to them. C. Assign some undercover agents to watch the vendor for a little while to find out who the supplier(s) are. D. Investigate previous customers and only approach the vendor with a warrant should solid evidence arise.
8) A regular small time criminal has been reported fleeing a scene of yet another incident. How would you apprehend them? A. Get their heading and predict where they're going in order to cut them off for a surround. B. You know their usual haunts. Set a trap and confront them when they have no easy way out. C. Track them using a faithful hound, eventually they'll stop and then you'll have them. D. Play as a potential buyer of the goods then get them when they arrive at the meet.
9) You are alone as the First Responder to a break-in at an electronics store. What do you do next? A. Gather statements and assess damage done, marking notes of interest and ensuring civilians are safe. B. Notice the back entrance ajar and give chase. The culprit couldn't have gotten far. C. Check camera recordings and assess the undisturbed scene for clues in order to compose a criminal profile. D. Take the owner to the station and start to interrogate him; his stolen goods seem fishy.
10) What do you hope to achieve by being part of the IPF? (Short Answer)

(ooc: I'm not certain the rp part is needed, but you get it anyway ) Astrid were still unsure if it was a good idea that she joined the IPF as a officer at this age, but she had met no doubt and only kind acceptance. She guessed some might come from that she knew the way of the work already from her time as a secretary and assistant for one of the departments. She was handed a paper with a little test and showed a room where she would take it and told she had an hour before she was left alone. One of the things she had learned in her school years, and used many times as a secretary was to read through it all before starting answering anything, and she soon started to scowl. She mumbled annoyed as she reread the possible answers for the first question. "This one is at least rather easy, of course the child's safety comes first, then you can always take care of the rest otherwise," Astrid said and noted her answer down and went to the next question. "I cannot send in anyone and again it will risk the innocent," she declared as she noted down her second answer. Astrid barked a short laugh at the third question. "How will I be able to check him in the database while chatting with him? And it just gives you trouble if you accuses someone without proper evidence. The best would be to check up on him in the database while keeping an eye on him but that is not an option of course, so I will just have to go with the last," She reasoned as she noted down, not fully pleased but it was the best she could do. She sighed as she after some thinking desided for an answer to the forth question, yet another one where she would have combined more answers but were only able to chose one. "So am I or am I not in Olivine? It makes no sense for me to travel across half the region to investigate myself, but I would if I was in Olivine, and the first options make it sound like it is just a distraction, so what is it?" Astrid mumbled frustrated, "I need for info to make a proper choice for these!"She sat quiet and rubbed her temples as she thought, before finally deciding it would be best to alarm her superiors and send someone to investigate, and glanced at the watch to see how much time she had left. "That depends on how it is illegal and if there is abuse of pokemon involved or not, the first three just seem so drastic and they assume there is some major problems happening, while the last it sound like it is just some petty thing," Astrid mumbled, it was good she was taking this test alone. "I do not like that the last allows them to continue without consequences, no then it is better to stop the ones behind it and then they can always redeem themselves and start something legal, especially if there is abusing involved," she decided and noted it down. She found the next quite easy and noted the answer down in no time. "I do not know the way a thief thinks so the first two are out, and I do not dare going undercover like in the last, that is dangerous! I can see I need to get myself a 'faithful hound', where ever I do that," Astrid chuckled and smiled when she saw there were only one left. "Well none of these obviously, as I would send some of my pokemon out through the backdoor and then make sure the civilians are alright and secure the evidence, so what fits best with that?" Astrid asked the paper dryly. she sighed. "Well civilians are always most important, the other things are just stuff which you can repair and get again, so I guess we'll go with that, even though I don't completely agree here either," she decided and looked at the last thing. "Funny, I thought they would be more interested in knowing the reasons for why you decided to join rather what you would gain from it. Well, what I wish to gain is technically the same as the reason I decided to join, is it not? I am old, I will gain nothing by getting promoted and such, I am too slow any way," Astrid thought out loud and spend some time formulate a short answer. As she still had time to go through her answers she did that quickly and decided this was the best she could do, and went to hand it in.

After a longer than expected wait the clerk came back with 3 patches, "Based on your answers we have a choice of three division that would best suit your methods of policing."
Negotiator "... outscored the others by a long shot. This would probably fit you the best, but if you're not keen on that division we have..."
Operations "... the general force you see patrolling and protecting civilians around the clock and who handle basic tactical operations, and..."
Training Officer "... as you lightly favored directing others with a guiding hand."
"Please choose one of these three to join. Upon joining a division you may be awarded bonus merit in quests or potentially even regular activities based on exemplary performance representing your division."
