This would have been a really confusing battle if the pair of Pikachu looked alike, but Florus' little getup helped quite a bit. Besides, Finnian liked to think he would know which one was his even if they didn't look alike. Thankfully, he wouldn't have to test it. He just hoped that Florus could handle this, since he couldn't use the one electrical attack he had, which was the one he was best suited to. Well, he could, it just wouldn't be useful in the slightest. Neither Finnian nor his Pokemon were interested in fighting fire with fire as it were.
Though it would have been better to stay away from the other Pikachu, Florus' plan required him to charge in. Throwing more mud would have been obvious, and would have been too easy to avoid due to the amount of time and effort required to do it. So, he bounded forward, attempting to lash out with his little feet in a pair of powerful kicks. Maybe that would be enough to stop the Pikachu in her tracks.

Finnian was relieved when the girl darted forward to tend to her Pokemon, guessing that she wasn't going to keep trying to fight him. But, he still felt bad about the point that she'd made, which was still an accurate one in his mind. "He is a Pikachu, he's just a special kind," he replied first, not sure why she wouldn't think he was since Finnian had never heard of a Pokemon that happened to mimic one of the most popular Pokemon. "And... I'm sorry people keep coming through here and taking all the Pokemon. Seems like you got two nice ones though. Do you want a Revive or something?" The last thing he wanted to do was leave the girl defenseless, even if they were in town. He'd been attacked there after all.
He also wanted to keep looking around and see if he could find any other Pokemon lurking around the place that weren't your average Pidgy and Rattata (cute as they were), but he didn't want the girl following him around and chastising him for it either. Maybe if he offered to help out he could make her opinion of traveling trainers better! Not that he considered himself a trainer at all, despite the fact that he'd been acting like one thus far. What he really wanted to be was a breeder, but he couldn't do that without traveling the world and finding more Pokemon.
Speaking of more Pokemon... As he was waiting for a response from the girl, he felt the egg give a mighty quake, almost causing him to drop it out of surprise. Instead, he carefully set it down, which was a good thing because he would have had a slippery Goldeen in his arms if he'd kept holding onto the egg. "Aw, you hatched!" he exclaimed excitedly, hurriedly digging through his bag for a Pokeball to put the little guy in.

Katie sat snuffling by Pika-pika's fainted form, and rubbed her eyes before looking up at Finnian at his offer. The look still held a glare, but also the remnants of her sorrow. She called Pika-pika back in her Pokeball and stood up, rubbing her face an extra time, before shooting Finnian another stare. She sniffed, took a breath and then said in forced calm. "We'll be fine. They are great, thank you." She paused, looking to the side and bit her lip before admitting somewhat sullen. "It's not your fault that Cherrygrove's just a stop on the way for every trainer out of New Bark. It's just so infuriating having to live with it." The last part was said with a tight fist at her sight, but not really to Finnian himself. She shot another look his way, this time uncertain, then shook her head and hurriedly gave him his price money. "Thanks for the offer, but we'll survive. Bye." She rushed the words, and were off before Finnian had a chance to do or say more nice things. Before even the egg in his arms hatched, so when he was done getting the Goldeen safely in a Pokeball, she had long since disappeared and Finnian was free to explore further. Up on the roofs around him birds had gathered to watch the show. Probably some kind of morbid curiosity for them, since the flash of electricity should have scared them off a long time ago. One of the more brave ones, a Spearow, took flight when the trainer with two electric Pokemon had disappeared and almost seemed to crash land on the road a little way from Finnian. It squawked and ruffled it feathers before turning to him with a start. For a heart beat it seemed to wait for what he would do. A Spearow (lvl 7) is measuring Finnian! Man, he just felt worse and worse the longer he was around the girl, as she kept alternating between being sad about her Pokemon fainting and being angry at him. He wasn't sure which was better, and concluded that they both kinda sucked considering they were both caused by his presence. He was a bit relieved when she said they'd be fine and somewhat absolved him of the guilt she'd been placing on him, though he knew he'd still think of it every time he found himself in a new town and faced with a Pokemon. She vanished before he could say as much, though, and he supposed that might be for the better.
He'd been so busy with the battle and the moral conflict he'd been going through, and then the hatching of his adorable little Goldeen, that he hadn't noticed the birds slowly gathering around. He barely even noticed the one that plopped down a short distance in front of him, to preoccupied with getting the flopping fish into a Pokeball. When he did look up and notice the Spearow, he felt a little nervousness curl up in the pit of his stomach, especially when he glanced around and saw how many of them there were. Oh boy, this could be bad.
"Uh, hey guys?" he said, tone turning the statement into more of a question than he'd meant it to be. "What's up?" Thank goodness he had Florus with him in case things got bad, but he knew that if enough of the birds came at them at once even Florus wouldn't be able to handle them all. Better to hope this would go diplomatically, he thought. Why couldn't he just run into some cute little Pokemon here, instead of all these mildly threatening ones?

The bird tilted its head, almost as if it was sizing the young man up. This human trainer seemed to be hoping that he could handle the situation as diplomatically as possible with the bird. The wild Spearow blinked at the human, unsure if it wanted to also handle this matter in a more diplomatic light or fight. The flock that it had been with was watching the entire scene unfold, their eyes looking at the human male with vigilance.
The wild Spearow didn't seem to be aggressive despite what the dex entries say about them. It did not feel that the trainer before it deserved a peck to the head, so it was just curious of the sight before it. It squawked a bit before tilting its head in wonder, maybe this was Finnian's chance to have a nice little chat with it.

When he wasn't immediately attacked, Finnian immediately relaxed, which was perhaps a little preemptive of him but was merely his way. If they were going to do something, they would have already, right? He really needed to get a Pokemon that was smarter than this, to help keep him safe and in line, but he hadn't thus far. Even his starter would have wanted to play had she been out of her Pokeball.
To get more on the bird's level, Finnian crouched down on his heels and offered the bird a grin. "Well, hi there! Do you want to play or something?" He knew all the other birds were still up there, but they weren't the ones interacting with him. Only this one was, and he was curious as to why. He just hoped it didn't want food or something, because he definitely didn't have enough for all of them if that was the case, and it wouldn't be fair to offer only one or a few of them food in that scenario.

The spearow seemed to be more and more uncertain and clearly hesitated as Finnian continued to talk with it. The bird glanced nervously up at the rooftops where the other spearows followed the exchange closely, before it turned its full attention to the human and its eyes softened a bit. It took a step towards Finnian and its head tilted a bit again. It hadn't indicated in any way what it was it wanted, but the wariness had disappeared from it and it looked at Finnian with nothing else than curiosity, perhaps he was simply the first human it had seen up close? Without warning two other spearows slammed into the first one and for a few moments the three was a ball of angry screeching and flying feathers. Then one spearow broke loose and rushed to hide in between Finnians legs where it was also sheltered from other spearows diving down upon it, should they see the chance. The two remaining stared furiously at the loneone, their feathers puffed out and beaks open in aggression, but they kept a wary distance to the human. "What are you waiting for your squabbling excuse of a spearow! Attack the human! Show yourself as a worthy spearow!" One of the two aggressive spearows squawked and the lone one who was hiding glanced at the human leg beside it. If Finnian looked closer at it, he could see that it had plenty of old scars and bald spots without feathers that looked identical to the new ones that it had just received in the fight with the two others. "But he's nice! I don't want to," it protested meekly and one of the spearows huffed disdainfully. "I'll teach you to be a proper spearow if it is the last thing I'll ever do!" hissed the talkative of the two spearows again and took a threatening step forward. The lone spearow croaked fearfully and looked pleadingly at Finnian for help. Of all the scenarios he'd imagined, the lone Spearow getting attacked wasn't one of them. What was going on here? Finnian would have started forward to attempt to help the poor bird if it hadn't broken away and run over to him first. At least his presence gave the other birds pause, though he wasn't certain why. It wasn't like he was threatening, after all.
Attack the human? Oh boy, this wasn't going to end well. Finnian glanced down at the Spearow slightly nervously as the bird looked to his leg, but he didn't have time to wonder if he was going to get the tendons in his ankle ripped out before the Spearow protested. His heart broke for the bird as it looked up at him pleadingly, and he nodded slightly. "You two need to leave him alone!" Finnian demanded, releasing Aislyn once more. He wondered if this time she would be able to handle the fight on her own. Perhaps the bird would help out? But, just in case it didn't want to, he also released Talia, who remained at his side for the moment.
The Drowzee, however, was quick to run forward, one fist held high as she would attempt to punch the bird that was closest to her, which she could only hope was the weaker of the two were there any difference between them.

As Finnian let Aislyn out to deal with the Spearows, the more talkative of them squawked indignantly: "Get out here, you coward!" and ran forward with no regard for the human now. By releasing a Pokemon in defence they had started the fight, and this Spearow wasn't going to be taken on the wrong claw. It ran straight for the Spearow between Finnian's legs forcing it out in the open again with such brutality Finnian would have to jump or move if he didn't want to be tackled to the ground himself. It was unclear how, but the two Spearows ended up rolling back towards the one still holding back, and when they got free of each other the most ruffled hop limped a few steps back towards Finnian glaring daggers at the other Spearows. They visible flinched and ruffled their plumages further. "Don't think for a heart beat you stand a chance against us." The first Spearow almost growled the words, and it nodded with its head to the silent one, who immediately jumped and dived to peck at Aislyn who had went ignored until now. Aislyn was young yet and her true powers were sleeping, but she felt something and managed to only let the bird's beak scrape her lightly. It just hurt a bit. She exploited the feeling fully and used it to catch the bird completely off guard. While it was still pecking, she aimed her fist at its neck and punched for all she was worth. The bird made a choking sound and fell back coughing. Finnian tried to hold his own as the Spearow lunged at him while going after the one who had chosen to hide beside him, but instinct won over at the last second and he flinched, just enough to keep from getting hit head on but still leading to him being clipped. It felt like someone had punched him in the leg, and he cried out in pain. It hurt, and it sucked, but he was willing to go through it in order to help protect the Spearow who was trying so desperately to be different, to be its own Pokemon and not fall into the same old traps that were being forced upon it. He felt for the poor thing, being so bullied for standing up for what it believed in. For wanting to be kind.
Unfortunately, he couldn't completely protect the poor bird, as the attacker continued its assault. Aislyn was cornered by another of the birds, and she seemed to be doing well against it. She'd punched it quite viciously, and Finnian wondered if for the first time he wouldn't have to send someone else in to help her. He hoped so, wanting her to be able to defend herself all alone without anyone else's assistance.
It also left him free to keep an eye on the fight between the two birds, ready to step in with another of his Pokemon if it seemed like the poor bird was going to need help or asked him for it again.

The biggest of the two spearows looked disdainfully at the smaller one when it continued to cough and try catch its breath again. "Pull yourself together whimp," the bigger snapped at the smaller, who looked like it did its best to stop coughing but also looked like it was about to cry. It stumbled after the bigger one when it ran towards the spearow Finnian was helping. "Come on! Time to show why a real spearow gangs up and never backs down!" The bigger one called to the smaller and the defending spearow whimpered in fear, and with good reason as the two jumped it and drowned it in attacks. It was not a thing any helping pokemon ro human could watch without doing anything, Aislyn came to the rescue and gave the smallest of the two birds a gok in the head which sent it sprawling unconscious to the ground. It was enough to break up the fight and the remaining bigger spearow jumped a bit away while looking warily at the drowzee. It glanced down at its fainted kin, "pathetic," it mumbled and neither it nor the others on the roof tops did anything to help it. The defending spearow managed to drag itself back to Finnian, it was battered and clearly scared but didn't look like it was about to quit although unless it got healed it wouldn't last long. "Great work Aislyn!" Finnian exclaimed, seeing the Spearow she was fighting go down. She could actually handle herself now! He was delighted, but some of his exhuberance faded when he looked over and saw how badly the other Spearow was getting hurt. "Hey! Leave it alone!" he said, stepping up to place the Spearow solidly between his feet again. "Come help me Aislyn, let Talia take care of this jerk," he continued, sending the Squirtle running forward to take charge of the battle.
"Only pathetic thing I see here is you," she shot back, sending a blast of water towards the offending Spearow. In the meantime, seeing how weak the poor Spearow was, Finnian reached into his backpack and dug around until he found the carefully wrapped bundle of berries. The blue ones were a bit bruised, but he suspected they would still retain their rejuvenating effects.
"Here you go, this should make you feel better," he said softly as he placed the berry on the ground before the Spearow. Aislyn lingered before them, waiting to see if the attacking Spearow was going to attempt to navigate around Talia and get at the one they were protecting again. If that happened, she'd do her best to protect it, though she was tired from her previous battle.

The bullied spearow gratefully took the shelter that Finian offered and hid between his feet, which only earned it more disdainful glares from the remaining aggressive spearow. The bigger one hesitated to attack its kin while the human was so close, it was alone now and it had to be more careful then. While it preferred to gang up with its flock it wasn't keen on calling for backup as others could claim it was weak or afraid. As Talia stepped forward it decided to jump at her, it had seen the species before and knew they were often the trainer's strongest pokemon. If it got that one down it would gain a lot of respect from the rest of the spearows. The bullied spearow's eyes grew wide as it saw the berry and it stared hungrily at it. It looked between Finnian and the berry several times as it couldn't believe it was just given to it, but then it gobbled it down fast although it kept looking warily at the human like it expected him to get angry about it. As it saw how its kin were attacking Talia it gulped and stepped forward, it was terrified of the other spearow but it felt it had to try help the ones who had come to its rescue. It called out to the other spearow who spun around to face it and then charged it instead. The defending spearow gave a fearful squeak and did its best to defend itself as the two whirled up dust and furiously pecked each other. They would have continued until one of them lay unconscious on the ground hadn't Talia interfered with her Water Gun, she blasted the bullying spearow away and sent it sprawling to the ground. It got shakingly to its feet soaked to the skin and glaring furiously at the squirtle, although there was a hint of fear in its eyes. The defending spearow limped to hide behind Talia and hoped this would be over soon. The smallest spearow opened its eyes and stayed on the ground while it assessed the situation, when it saw fit it carefully sneaked away and would join its kin on top of the roof. Finnian fully expected the poor, beat-up Spearow to stay back, but that wasn't what happened in the slightest. Instead, the bird launched itself at the other one and they wound up in a flurry of feathers and beaks. He wouldn't have been able to figure out what was going on in the fight, but thankfully Talia could and was able to back up the poor bird. The dousing of water was enough to separate the pair, and they one they were trying to protect ducked behind the Squirtle before anything else bad could happen to it. Thank goodness, he thought.
Talia nodded agreeably to the Spearow, thanking him for trying but also approving of the decision to stay back and let her handle things. At least, she hoped that was what the decision was, and that he wasn't just going to run out again. She hoped to end the fight then and there by hurling herself at the bird, wanting to get all of its attention and keep it. If they were lucky, the display of force used here would prevent the other birds from coming down on them as well. Thus far, they hadn't. If these two were the toughest the group had to offer (which she could only presume was the case) then perhaps the others would be too afraid to take them on, even though attacking in mass numbers would immediately overwhelm them. Perhaps Florus could handle that, if it happened.
