"Look out!" Someone shouted as a pidgey burst from the grass, looking rather hurt. As it weakly attempted to flutter up into the sky, a repeat-ball flew out from the grass and struck it in the head. The ball quickly fell to the ground, and shook. A few seconds later, a trainer jumped out of the bushes. "Whoa, quite a bunch of pokémon I've stumbled into... You guys aren't from around here, are you?" The trainer said, quickly grabbing the repeat ball off the ground before it had finished shaking and throwing it into an empty birdcage he was carrying with them. They quickly sealed the cage and whistled, holding their arm out. A fierce looking spearow flew out from the tall grass and landed on their arm, scowling at Clamps.
As the trainer took stock of the many pokémon around him, his eyes settled on the tall military looking trainer. "Yikes, you look super serious... I was going to challenge you to a pokémon battle, but you look like a man with a mission." He said, then he flashed an evil grin. "Naw, I'm just kidding. My birds can handle anything, lets battle! Go Razorbeak!" He said, his spearow cawwing aggressively, and flapping up from his arm.
Bird Keeper Peter has sent his level 11 spearow, Razorbeak out to battle you!
Seeing the wild Pifgey jump out from the grass Eiskalt got very excited as it would be the perfect opponent for her to face. Right before she could act the Repeat Ball ruined her plans to take down the bird Pokemon but just as she was about to lose hope a trainer jumped out of the bush and her excitement was restored. Kevin was just as surprised but the trainers appearance and apparently good observation skills as well. " You would be correct, I am originally from the Orre region but I have been here for a while. I can see you are a pretty big fan of Pidgey to use a Repeat Ball so quickly as you did."
The man's Spearow only affirmed Kevin's belief that the trainer was a fan of bird Pokemon and that gave him quite a good feeling as Eiskalt would have a type advantage against most flying types. " Correct again, I am here on a mission of the upmost importance but I shall not bore you with the details. The very nature of my work is top secret. Most Gym Leaders have never heard of my organization and I might lose you trying to explain everything." Before he could get another word out the man decided to challenge him to a battle and Kevin chuckled at his bravery.
" I give you credit for being brave, most trainers who saw a team like mine would go out of their way to avoid a battle. Bravery is something I hold quite dear so I accept your challenge. My name is Kevin and Eiskalt the Sneasel here shall be my first Pokemon." As soon as she heard her name Eiskalt sharpened her claws by rubbing them together waiting for the chance to strike, her special move would have to work overtime as she had not tested it out against a human's Pokemon yet. That did not deter her in the least as she knew if her move worked she would grow stronger in no time.
" Usually a young Sneasel would not know any useful ice type moves but Eiskalt is no typical Sneasel. I could explain it in detail but rather I think a visual method will work better, Eiskalt use your Icicle Crash on Spearow to start things off." In the blink of an eye she was off getting ready to launch her attack. There was no way she was going to let Spearow get off the first no matter how well trained it was.
"Can't say I have heard of that place before, do they all have same collection of pokemon like you do?" The bird keeper said and then grinned. "I do have a lot of pidgeys, I'm looking for the perfect one to partner up with Razorbeak here and challenge Falkner! I haven't been lucky yet but I'm looking forward to test the one I just caught," Peter said confidently. He raised an eyebrow skeptically as Kevin told about his mission, which was awfully convenient was unknown to even Gym leaders and would be too complicated to explain. He didn't believe Kevin but just shrugged, if the other wanted to feel important then he was free to do that, as long as Peter got his battle he was pleased.
"Run away?! With a chance to train against pokemon types that you rarely meet? That would be stupid, if you only meet the same pokemon over and over again, you don't learn a thing. No battling pokemon that has the advantage of you, then were talking!" Peter exclaimed with a grin. He clapped his hands together when Eiskalt got sent forward. Perfect, he mumbled. Razorbeak clapped her beak together threateningly at the ice type soaring experienced sizing up her opponent.
Peter visible paled when Kevin ordered such strong ice attack, Razorbeak wouldn't be able to survive that. "DOWN!" Peter screamed. Eiskalt was the fastest of the two by far, and while the spearow had no chance of attack first it did manage to roll and barely avoid the ice spear that came flying towards it. The ice spear continued and embedded itself deep into the ground. Both Razorbeak and Peter looked shocked and it took them a few heartbeats to realize that Razorbeak had actually managed to survive the attack. Razorbeak look at its feather tips both on wings and tails was iced from the near contact with the attack. Fury filled it and with a scream she dived at Eiskalt and used both wings, beak and claws to harm her.

Peter's Razorbeak [Keen Eye]: Normal, used Fury Attack~hits three times Kevin's Eiskalt [Keen Eye]: Normal, used Icicle Crash~ missed!
Eiskalt just missing her target was a tad unfortunate as she had yet to miss with Icicle Crash before now. Their training had pain off on the defensive side however as she was able to endure the incoming Fury Attack without taking too much damage and for that Kevin was relieved. " That round did not go as planned, still that was a good job enduring that Fury Attack." Eiskalt was a bit disappointed as well but her missing once was far from the worst case scenario and she knew if she hit she would turn the battle around in no time at all.
Getting back to Peter's question he was not surprised that he had not heard of Orre as it was not a very popular region except for very brave trainers and he was happy to answer some questions. " There are not many wild Pokemon there but a lot of trainers have rare Pokemon as a number of strong trainers live there." He said as Eiskalt started to get impatient. She was embarrassed by her miss in the first round and she was looking for some revenge.
As she geared up for the next round Kevin had faith in the original plan despite the bad luck they had experienced. " Though it did not go as planned the first time I still think sticking to our original plan will work best. Seeing as how your other attacks will not do as much damage it is still the safest option for now." As Eiskalt prepared to strike again she took a bit more time to aim this time around hoping that bad luck would not strike twice as she did not have much of a safety net to still work with.
" Eiskalt use Icicle Crash and try not to miss this time." He ordered as Eiskalt tried her luck again.
"We aren't likely to get a chance like this again, Razorbeak! Go in for another Fury Attack!" Peter said with confidence, while Kevin urged on Eiskalt to try her ice attack again. Razorbeak squawked and circled the air once before diving after Eiskalt once more. Unfortunately for Razorbeak and Peter Eiskalt wasn't going to miss her second time around. The abundance of water in the area only helped and she was the fastest by far. The icicles seemed almost to form out of thin air and crashed with tremendous force against the Spearow, who was thrown out of its dive and landed on the ground unconscious to the world before it even knew it. Peter snapped his finger in displeasure, but didn't look particular downtrodden by it. "It was bound to happen at some point. You did well, Razorbeak." He said while calling the Spearow back, and finding another Pokeball on his person. "Your turn, Furyclaw. We're up against strong forces today." The bird that emerged this time was a Doduo, and it stretched its legs, one head shooting a determined glare in Eiskalt's direction, the other looking to Peter for advice.
"I've got to say I can't imagine a place without much wild Pokemon, Kevin." Peter said next, while waiting for what Kevin would do. "Where do trainers get their Pokemon from, if they can't find them out here?" He indicated the 'wildlife' around them by spreading his arms wide.

Bird Keeper Peter sents out his Doduo Furyclaw (lvl 12)! Will Kevin change Pokemon?
As Eiskalt celebrated her victory Berserk suddenly popped out of his Pokeball wanting to have a battle of his own as the Duduo looked like a silly opponent and the rocky Pokemon could not pass up the chance to challenge such an awkward looking bird. It was not Kevin's plan to battle Duduo with him but as he had not managed to use the young Rhyhorn very much he thought this might be the perfect time to give Berserk a chance to see what he could do against a faster foe. Rhyhorn were not known for their speed at all but when it came to power they had plenty and Kevin was hoping for durability and power to win this round.
" Ah Berserk, I guess seeing another bird Pokemon from Kanto was too much for you to pass up. I guess there is no harm in letting you try. It was then that Kevin realized he had still not answered Peter's question about the Orre region and he quickly corrected that mistake. " Some trainers steal Pokemon while others bring Pokemon from other regions and a few capture the limited number of wild ones roaming the region. It truly is unique to explore due to the unusual ways people acquire Pokemon."
He daydreamed a moment as he reminisced about growing up there before Berserk grunting brought his mind back into the battle. If Berserk was good at anything else besides enduring and dishing out attacks it was his ability to bring everyone to attention with his loud and aggressive grunts. " I seem to have dozed off there for a moment from all the memories so thank you for the wake up call Berserk. I think now is the time to get this next round started." Berserk nodded as Kevin pointed at Duduo and ordered the rocky Pokemon to attack.
" Berserk try your Smack Down attack first, it is not very powerful but the type advantage it has should make up for that until we can get you a better rock type move. Maybe once we reach Goldenrod we will find a nice rock type TM move to teach you." Berserk then started to walk over to a small rock and pushed its horn underneath to fling it at Duduo as soon as the bird Pokemon made it's move. Kevin had a good feeling that a direct hit would do a ton of damage and it would also bring him one step closer to finishing the battle as well.
Peter did his best to hide his discomfort when he saw the rhyhorn, this battle was not on his side nor was going to be easy for his pokemon. He didn't manage entirely and the doduo tripped a bit nervously as it felt its trainer's lack of confidence. The bird trainer tried to smile reassuringly to his bird but he didn't want to give it false hope either, it was a hard act of balance, both giving your pokemon confidence to dare fight in a battle with the odds against it, while also not lying to it so it understood that the battle perhaps was lost before it was really started.
Peter got distracted from his worries by Kevin's explanations and he frowned. "I'm sorry, but that doesn't sound very pleasant to me," he said apologizing. "I mean, I love the hunt of a pokemon and I love watching birds fill the air and showing their flying skills. I'd hate to have to worry about someone else stealing my pokemon all the time, if there is a limited number some people must be really desperate!" Peter said and then added after a thought, "who and how is it decided who can capture the wild pokemon? And which and how many?" He looked genuin interested and Furyclaw began to relax as Peter didn't acted nervous any longer.
The bird trainer frowned when the rhyhorn got impatient and Kevin gave orders to it. "Alright Furyclaw, our best chance is speed and believe me it will not be able to keep up with you," Peter said reassuringly and the head that looked at him cawed its agreement. The other head that was watching Beserk narrowed its eyes at their opponent. "Go! Quick Attack!" Peter urged and the doduo zoomed off and showed why this bird had traded away its ability to fly for running. It was much faster and by the time Beserk had got the rock into the air the doduo was long away from the place it had been standing. The rhyhorn felt something scrabing his hide at one side and as he turned to it he moved his head straight into the doduo which had been attacking his side. It went out cold from running full speed into solid stone.
Peter sighed as he recalled Furyclaw and he looked like he thought the battle was over but then hesitated. He looked thoughtful at Kevin and opened the cage to pull of the pokeball with the pidgey. "Let's see what you are capable of, shall we?" He asked the pokeball and called out the pidgey, which looked suspiciously at both Peter, Kevin and all his pokemon. "Hello there, I'm Peter and I specializes in flying types like you. I have seen something special in you, and I'd like to help you grow and become one of the most powerful, if you'd let me," Peter introduced himself to the pidgey who looked to have gotten its interest piqued. "What do you say, Sharpwing?" Peter asked and the pidgey looked excited at him before it turned to look at Kevin and see what its opponent would be. It ruffled its feathers but otherwise looked like it was fine.

Bird Keeper Peter sends out his Pidgey Sharpwing (lvl 11)! Will Kevin change Pokemon?
(ooc: I had to skip some of your other threads even though they were further up the list, as my head was willing to work with me on those. This one I know from my earlier modding ^^)
As Berserk celebrated his lopsided victory Kevin listened to Peter and was quite happy to answer his questions about how capturing wild Pokemon worked there. " I admit it is a bit of an odd system but there are not too many rules involving the wild Pokemon there. All one needs to do is buy Poke Snacks and leave them in the area wild Pokemon appear in and hope another trainer does not beat them to the encounter once their PDA notifies them that a Pokemon is currently enjoying the snacks they left." As he paused for just a moment to try to remember a few more details he remembered one other thing.
" The only other thing I can remember is that the Pokemon there are finicky and will run off if they eat all the treats before a trainer challenges them." As for Peter's other question Kevin was a bit surprised that Team Snaggem had not made more international headlines from all the trouble they caused but he thought it would be good to tell Peter about them. " Team Snaggem is really the only major threat as far as stealing Pokemon goes, their snag machine allowed them to steal Pokemon and turn them into Shadow Pokemon which were very powerful. Last I heard though they were defeated on two separate occasions so I doubt they are much of a threat anymore."
As he finished his brief lesson on Orre Kevin was just about to order Berserk to attack when Freyja jumped out in front of him and adamantly refused to back down wanting to battle. Though Kevin was hoping to give Berserk another chance to gain a level or two the young Eevee's determination was at a fever pitch and Kevin could not bring himself to let her go without a chance to prove herself again. " Well it looks like Freyja here will be my next Pokemon, she is still a bit young and hot headed but I do admire her spirit." Freyja started to scrape her pawns on the ground ready to strike as soon as Kevin finished speaking and he knew it was time to get the next round underway.
" Let's see if that Adaptability ability will come in handy again, use Tackle on that Pidgey." Not a second later the young Eevee started to charge towards the flying type as Oracle and Samantha both watched hoping the you Eevee would not get herself hurt by blindly jumping into a battle without considering the consequences.
OOC: Berserk is replaced by Freyja using the free switch in, Freyja ises Tackle activating her Adaptability ability.
Peter did his best to keep up with Kevin's explanation, but it wasn't easy. He was still in deep frown when Kevin talked about his eevee and he barely missed that the battle was continuing. "Oh? Oh! Alright Sharpwing, let's show what we got," Peter said and quickly added, "start with a Sand Attack, that will help a lot.." He trailed off as the pidgey leaped forward and ran forward to intercept the eevee. Peter waited to see if Sharpwing was going to do as ordered or if it had its own plans. When Sharpwing did not stop and the two pokemon collided midways, and the pidgey was sent tumbling back from the force, Peter sighed. It was understandable that his new pokemon wasn't used to having to work with others and that there could be tactics that would highten the chances of winning. He hadn't planned on using the newly captured pidgey at all, but he hadn't been able to withstand the temptation to try it out.
"Are you alright?" He asked as Sharpwing rolled to its feet, and it clattered its beak irritated. "It was a good try but keep a clear head, it is not going to be an easy battle as it looks like it is stronger than you," Peter warned and Sharpwing laid down its feathers and glanced uncertain back at him. "The sky is your domain and can give you the upper hand," he told it and made sure not to promise it anything. It had a lot of learning ahead of it, but he was certain he had a found himself a future champion, one that was equal to Falkner's.
As Sharpwing jumped to the sky Peter turned his attention to Kevin once more. "What is a.. Ptd? P.. Pn..?" He asked, not really getting what the word was and then having forgotten it. "So you are luring in pokemon like if you were using Sweet Scent? Wont some try to use traps, or sit around and wait if there is a big risk of others reaping what you sow, or it running away before you get there?" He asked when Kevin had explained his first question.
"That team sounds a bit like Team Rocket, I don't hope they get hold of that machine and begin to use it for their crimes here," he added thoughtfully, then frowned. "What is a shadow pokemon exactly?" He then added when he realized he was certain.
Kevin could not help but to chuckle as Peter did not know what a PDA was. As outside of Orre they were a rare sight he was happy to explain in greater detail what it was. " A PDA is similar to a Pokedex but with additional features such as the wild spot detector and built in email services." As he thought of how to expand his explanation further Peter's next question was a perfect way to help him understand more about it.
" Sweet Scent is actually a great comparison to the Poke Snacks used in Orre and the PDA I mentioned is very much a huge help, yes there is a risk of someone beating you to capture the Pokemon the snacks attracted but as very few people know of all the locations to put snacks and most Pokemon not being too rare very few people attempt to steal an attracted Pokemon. It certainly helps that the PDA gives the warning once a Pokemon is attracted but sadly they do not work outside of Orre." Just as he thought Peter might have been done with his questions the last one did not surprise Kevin at all.
" The last I had heard the research lab in Orre was in possession of the Snaggem Machine though I have not heard from them in a while so I might need to find a way to contact them again to make sure they still have it. As for Shadow Pokemon they are a Pokemon whose heart has been artificially sealed and conditioned to battle without mercy only obeying their assigned trainer. They do a ton of damage to none Shadow Pokemon and are known to harm themselves if you attempt to undo the sealing of their hearts."
After taking a moment to think of what else to add he remembered something else. " Also there is more than one way to purify them either through special colognes sold in Agate Village, using a special item called a Time Flute to summon the legendary Pokemon Celebi in the Agate Forest Shrine, or to battle with them enough while being kind to them. Regardless of the method used the damage caused to them can be undone at least physically though I am not aware of the possible mental issues they may suffer from becoming a Shadow Pokemon."
As he finished his explanation Freyja turned towards him begging to make another move, as he had wasted enough time now he figured it was time for another round " Freyja use Tackle."
With all the information Peter was getting it was really hard to keep it all in his head long enough to remember it let alone focus on the battle. Having just caught this pidgey too didn't help. The bird keeper had no idea what limits the new addition had, which only made it even harder to continue battling Kevin. Though, he wouldn't have to worry about that much longer.
"Wait, celebi?" Of all the things the Aura had spoken about that was one thing he was familiar with. All the rest of it had sounded rather horrible. Orre was definitely not a place he'd ever want to visit, but he didn't want to be rude to the man. "Wow. We have a shrine like that in Ilex but I don't know anything about a time flute."
Peter was interrupted by Sharpwing. The young bird tweeted its frustration with being left hanging in the battle. Freyja was already setting off for her tackle attack and he hadn't even been given an order. So far the newly captured pokémon wasn't too impressed with his new trainer. "Ah, uhm, Tackle Sharpwing!" the boy managed to get out finally. But it was far too late. The eevee was well into her attack by that point. She charged into the small bird and knocked it unconscious. The bird keeper felt a little guilty for not being more prompt and giving a good first impression to the bird, but he suspected there was little he could have done to ultimately change the outcome versus such a strong trainer like Kevin.
"Dang, well good match Kevin!" He recalled his pokémon and began making his way over to hand over the winnings. "Orre sounds like a tough place, and you're proof of that," he joked. "Thanks for everything! I'm glad we don't have to deal with things like shadow pokémon."
He waved his goodbyes and headed down the path toward Violet.
Freyja grew to LV 17 and gained +1 Happiness! (+12) She's trying to learn Bite & Swift; forget any old moves?
Bird Keeper Peter was defeated! He gave Kevin £256
After finishing his battle with Peter he started to think about what he should do next as Freyja and Eiskalt had gained a few levels and were not as helpless as they were before. Before he could come to a decision he started to look through his backpack and saw the TM89 he had been holding onto for a while. As Clamps did not have any strong bug type moves and he decided to use it so Clamps would have a decent move. " Clamps use this TM for U-Turn, it will be a great move both to train you with and for Marchbaby to use once you go back to him."
With Clamps learning a new move he could now work out where to go next to continue training Freyja and Eiskalt. The thought of moving on to Azalea did cross his mind but as the Pokemon there were not much stronger and because Freyja and Eiskalt could still benefit from at least one more battle he decided to stick around for a little while longer. As he started to walk through the tall grass the sun started to beat down on him which he knew would not be great for Eiskalt as she was not meant for hot weather at all though he hoped she could manage for the time being.
Just in case the weather did make Eiskalt feel a bit weak Kevin dug through his backpack again and found the Eviolite he had been saving just in case and handed it to the young Sneasel to boost her defense. It might not help cool her off but at least she could endure attacks better until he found someplace cool to take her. " This Eviolite should help protect you Eiskalt, until you evolve it will greatly boost your defenses without lowering your speed or offensive options." He then found a Soothe Bell and handed it to Freyja so that she would gain happiness at a faster rate.
With both of those matters out of the way they searched for either another Pokemon or trainer to battle so they could train a little more. Kevin hoped whatever jumped out would not be too much for either Freyja or Eiskalt to handle as the sooner he could train them the better. " Freyja and Eiskalt be ready, most Pokemon around here are not too tough but you never know what might jump out next." He said as both Pokemon got ready for another battle almost ready to fight each other for the privilege of doing so.
OOC: Freyja forgets Helping Hand and Tail Whip to learn Bite and Swift, Kevin gives Freyja a Soothe Bell and Eiskalt an Eviolite. Using TM89 U-Turn on Clamps who forgets Leer to learn U-Turn. Updating all of this myself and waiting on another encounter.
The day had become hot. Very hot. No clouds dotted the sky to provide even the briefest respite from the beating of rays, and with the jetty being not too far away the air was even a bit humid. All this combined didn't make it very favorable for pokémon to be wandering anywhere out of the shade. Well... most pokémon.
Just up the path crossing from a set of light bushes and heading toward the direction of the jetty was a bright pink snail. Rather similar to wurmple but of a more pastel colring and a friendlier look about it. No poisonous horns or barbs, just a plume of bulbous horns and little prickles on its shell. Its long wavy foot rippled along the ground at a good pace the land-based water pokémon didn't even seem to notice the troupe coming its direction.
The western breed of shellos continued on its way, determined it seemed. Panting a little too as the heat bore down on it and all those along the route. No doubt it was trying to get to the water to cool off and refresh itself.
A Shellos (LV 11) is sliding by! Weather = Harsh Sun
As Kevin saw the Shellos heading towards the jetty he initially hesitated to battle it as the water type was probably not trying to cause anyone any harm but before Kevin could decide if he wanted to battle the poor thing or not Clamps flew forward ready to strike as both Freyja and Eiskalt were caught off guard by the mantis's amazing speed. As much as they both wanted to fight the young water type neither of them wanted to pick a fight with Clamps as they both backed off from their plans. Both Oracle and Samantha were pretty amused at the sight of the two younger Pokemon quickly losing their bravery against a bigger foe.
" Freyja and Eiskalt might be braver than others of their age but it is clear they still have work to do. Even I wouldn't want to face Clamps when he is this determined." As Oracle walked over towards Eiskalt and Freyja to try and boost their morale a little Samantha started to root for the bug as it went to try out its new move. " Give them hell Clamps, Freyja and Eiskalt might learn a thing or two from you." By this time Kevin wasn't about to stop Clamps as the bug clearly wanted to perform a show of force and being so close to evolving he decided to let the bug have some fun.
" Well I guess any peaceful ending to this encounter is gone but at least we will get to try out your new move Clamps. U-Turn should be a great move for this battle." Within seconds the mantis spread his wings and rushed towards the young water type and lifted one of its scythes as high as it could go ready to deliver a powerful strike as soon as it was in range. As it approached Eiskalt and Freyja looked on quite disappointed that they were denied the chance to battle but as things could have been worse they could at least watch the mean bug from a distance.
Clamps was now inches away from his target as as he made his move Kevin offered the bug a little more encouragement to reduce a bit of pressure from using the newly learned U-Turn. " Clamps make sure you line up your scythe in a way that allows for a clean cut, once you do this move will cause you to go back inside your Pokeball as a result of the recoil but don't be afraid when that happens." With the added encouragement the bug type made a slight adjustment to the positioning of it's scythe hoping the slight angle change would make a difference.
OOC: Clamps uses U-Turn. If Shellos is not knocked out Freyja will replace Clamps. Using the extra level bonus so that Clamos can still gain a level from this battle. Updating my exp bar now. Also bike mode is still on.
Last Edit: May 26, 2020 13:03:09 GMT 11 by Marchbaby
The unaware shellos was minding its own business and hadn't expected to get attacked out of the blue. It screamed as the huge intimidating bug suddenly was over it and it was completely unprepared for the sharp scythes which cut deep into its skin and sent it tumbling down to the Jetty and into the water where it laid still.
Clamps would learn a bit about surprise attacks, how it was being much stronger than the ones around you, and how to angle his scythes for the cuts to get clean cuts. His return to Kevin would be swift as he zoomed straight back into his pokeball as he had been told. There was no pokemon for another to step forward and face though, so this time it wasn't really necessary.
Clamps didn't learn much and only barely got to [lvl 24]. He also gains +1 Happiness.
