It seemed that before Zaiden could scoot out of the door of the Pokemon lab, an assistant of the Professor's already had a mission for him. He walked over to the gentleman in the white lab coat whose pockets seemed stuffed with different types of paperworks. Were they receipts, notes, or things of more important matters? Zaiden's dark brown eyes wondered to the leaflets stuffed in one of the lab coat's pocket and studied it quizzically.
A fonder memory pulled at the back of his mind. It brought a happy sadness to its depths as Zaiden reflected on the yesterdays of his youth. Zaiden recalled back when he was barely tall enough to see over the top of a table, when his father was sitting down shuffling through a mountain of papers. "These are important,", his insisted, as he sifted through different forms and documents. "They help me keep a roof over our heads."
Zaiden gulped. With a sharp shake of his head from one side to the next, he would stuff the memories back down. Let's not think about that now... He sighed, and looked up to the Professor. His eyes, once cast over with a sort of longing and sadness, brightened with hope. He furrowed his eyebrows and pulled his lips into a confident smirk. He nodded, and lifted his hand to give the assistant an affirmative salute. Zaiden then held out his hand, in order to take the Pokedex from the assistant. You can count on me. Zaiden thought silently to himself.
Would you expect Zaiden to thank you? You could hope, but it wasn't the most likely way to get a reply...
Unbeknownst to the studious lab assistant a majority of her explanation regarding the functions of the device didn't make it through to Zaiden. Luckily the pocket device was fairly easy to understand so instruction was, really, unnecessary.
Along with the bright red dex came a folded paper which denoted all the laid out milestones of the professor's reward scheme as well as a small note regarding the sharing of pokémon entries. It seemed Zaiden would be allowed 30 entries of the same pokémon shared with another trainer that would still go toward the count of the detailed milestones. Overall it seemed a rather easy task considering the young trainer would be traveling around Johto already anyway. Some bonus stuff didn't sound like a bad deal. All he had to do was check in with updates from time to time.
With a wave the lab assistant wished the boy safe travels.
