Battered and bruised, Sharada and her Pokemon had experienced a bit of a beating at Burned Tower. They had decided to explore the solemn corner of Ecruteak City and were challenged by literal legends. It had been a tough and tiring visit, the pair were more than ready to move on. After managing a brief rest in the traditional city, the duo were able to flash their newly acquired badge and pass through the gates which led to their next venture; Route 39. As the sun touched their skin, both Sharada and Tenebrae had to squint to take in the rays, unaware of the scrupulous looks they were receiving. The once prim and proper Sharada had become dishevelled since her Rocket life. Her once neatly trimmed hair now choppy and uneven, the fearsome gust of wind not making her look any better. She was a mess, dressed in all black and couldn't help but wear a natural frown. That paired with the unusual, biker look of her Zoroark partner disguised as a human, the duo were the type that would make you cross the street in order to avoid them. They were used to this by now, however.
"Can you smell that, Tenebrae?" Sharada spoke with a slight smile to her lips. No longer burning, Tenebrae could instead feel the wind rush through his mane of hair. "The ocean." He replied calmly, knowing his trainer all too well. "Hopefully it's better than the poxy beach at Goldenrod. Though, looking over the horizon, I'd say we're heading towards a bit of a surfing adventure." Route 39 was beautiful, a cliff path which lead through fields and farms, easing into a decline towards the coastal city of Olivine. It made Sharada feel calm, the sea breeze reminded her of home and in return, Tenebrae also felt more relaxed. "We need to keep moving forward. I've already had a heads up from HQ that the next mission is in the final stages." Needing to climb the ranks in order to gain more of a foothold, Sharada had entered Team Rocket under cover but her mind had started to twist. What she was doing, as wrong as it was, had just begun to feel so natural. The people who she now had contact with, were cruel but were also taking her under their wing. Sharada was naive and easily influenced, she was finding her situation difficult to comprehend so just tried to forget and take each day as it came.
Together, Sharada and Tenebrae continued to follow the dirt path beneath their feet. They had been in the game long enough to know what to expect. The two could only enjoy the peace for so long, before it would be interrupted by some form of fighting.
The refreshment of the salty air was just an average day for those living by Olivine. With the sparkle of light prickling across the surface of the near ocean everything seemed brighter, cleaner, and just more crisp. The wind cascading up the cliffside was even enjoyable to a degree; so long as one didn't get too close to the edge. Still, it was leagues above the cramped, dirty tower from which they had come.
Many mottled pastures littered their way down. Each on a different level of various guttered plateaus it made for a seemingly well organized landscape. As the duo trekked though there was something else that would catch their eye. All the rustling from the wind has masked its initial approach through the greenery but the gleaming pink ball secured on its head didn't camouflage well. Not to mention the bouncing.
With a magnificent spring helped by a gust of wind a wild Spoink happily oinked its way up a steep ledge. Upon successfully landing it wriggled its stubby arms and proceeded to bounce back and forth to an odd tune of its own before making its way a bit closer to Sharada. So content with its bouncing it didn't notice them right away.
Sharada and Tenebrae continued their trek across the rough dirt path of Route 39. The fresh air filled their lungs with every breath, giving them energy, determination and the motivation to move on. They still had a long way to go, not only in terms of reaching Olivine City but simply becoming stronger in general. From this point on, Sharada had easily ventured across a good chunk of the Johto Region, the journey building her into the person she currently was. Although still naive and and scared in some aspects, she had grown much thicker skin in comparison to the start. Her Pokemon and their personalities also blossoming around her. Together, they were building an unbreakable bond, one which she was sure would guide them all through their Rocket situation. They were all going to make it through this in one piece.
Nose lifting slightly to the wind, the sudden head movement of Tenebrae at her side caught Sharada's attention, drawing her out of her thoughts. Looking at him questionably, she noticed his line of sight was focused dead ahead and thus, her head began to turn also. Following his direct line of sight, both sets of blue eyes were now settled on a lone figure, hopping in the distance. Squinting her eyes every so slightly for just a moment, her expression relaxed as Sharada took in the sight and shape of this approaching creature. Being from Hoenn, it was something she recognised all too well. "Ah. It's a Spoink." She made a half surprised remark. "Despite being so close, it hasn't even noticed us." Tenebrae noted, a little less than impressed. The pair exchanged looks, ending with Sharada giving a small shrug of her shoulders and reaching to her holster for a Pokeball.
Enlarging it in her fingertips by pressing the central button, it seemed that Sharada was preparing to start a fight. "We need some battles in order to get stronger. I know, I know. It's not showing signs of aggression, so I'm sure you disapprove. In my eyes, we have no choice but to battle everything we come across." Speaking her words with slight sarcasm, it was spiel she had likely said before. The brunette knew that they didn't have to partake in every single thing that came their way but at the same time, it was how this world simply worked. "I have no complaints." Tenebrae folded his arms together loosely, "Continue." Sensing his slight mood about this unnecessary battle, Sharada couldn't help but simply roll her eyes as she took a step forward. Getting more in line with the path of the approaching Spoink, Sharada took her stance and pulled her arm back, "Caesar, let's go!" With a flick of her wrist, her cool, blue Wartortle emerged from the flash of light, his thin bandanna blowing wildly in the wind.
Clicking her fingertips together, Sharada's brow frowned, "Make this snappy and swift, Caesar." She ordered in a deeper tone, "Attack with a Bite! Be sure it doesn't escape!" Wearing a cool smirk, the Wartortle was amped and ready. Clenching his jaw together tightly, he bent his chunky knees before springing forward, mouth now ajar as he lunged for the seemingly innocent pig.
Using Caesar/Wartortle and running shoes, using Bite twice.
Spoink: Normal ... Used Magic Coat, then Zen Headbutt! Caesar [Torrent]: Normal ... Used Bite! x2
Spoink's peaceful afternoon was so rudely interrupted by the cry and fast approach of a sudden turtle. With an unseemly snort the wild pokémon's happy tune was abruptly ended. It panicked. Squealing the only thing it could think to do was put up a magic coat and hope that would deter whatever horrible thing this bloodthirsty beast was going to do. Sadly it didn't do anything to stomp those sharp teeth from chomping down on Spoink's side.
Another squeal screeched across the route. The wild pig dislodged Caesar with an jagged bounce, but it could tell he was going to just get right back up and do it again. Thinking quickly the spoink went on the offensive. Coiling up and lowering its head it literally sprung full force into Caesar, catching the bulk on his shell. Momentarily dazed itself instead of doing so to its opponent, Spoink was left wide open for another bite.
With a spring in his step of his own, Caesar the Wartortle was primed and ready for this battle. His ears twitching in the gusty winds, the turtle used his stumpy legs to close the gap between himself and his opponent. Catching the carefree Spoink by surprise, it's pleasant day was rudely interrupted as the Wartortle made his last bound, jaw becoming ajar and fangs catching the bouncing piglet in a tight, piercing grasp. Sharada's top lip twitched ever so slightly at both the sight and sound. She was used to Pokemon battling by now, she had experienced a lot on her journey. But something she couldn't get used to, was the individual reactions of each and every Pokemon both herself and her team encountered. It was never a pretty thing to see or hear and for Sharada, battling something native to the Hoenn region always felt that bit tougher. But the Spoink was tougher than it first appeared and although it's first attack resulted in nought, it was almost a relief to see it fighting back.
"The Spoink has some fight in it yet." Tenebrae noted, the illusion of a human man stood beside the brunette, folding his arms tightly. Trusting his wild senses, Sharada looked back to the fight, repeating her previous order to Caesar. "We'll see." The second round of the battle began to unfold and with it, Caesar stared his opponent square in the eye. Hopping on the spot, almost as if to unintentionally mimic the Spoink, the Wartortle was keeping on his own toes. In his eyes, the Spoink was a worthy foe, it just seemed a bit nervous, perhaps not used to battling trainers and their trained Pokemon. Especially out in this cliff side route, with how tranquil it was, it seemed unlikely that the area received an awful lot of human traffic. Still, Caesar had his orders and he too, wanted to grow stronger. Not attacking immediately, he instead called out with his battle cry; maybe that would knock some sense into the Spoink and get it to defend itself better.
Jaw ready for the biting, Caesar sunk his teeth into his opponent, weakening it tremendously but not quite finishing it off. Looking somewhat surprised that it was still awake, Sharada widened her eyes slightly, lifting her head to view the battle a bit better. Gathering up the strength, the Spoink retaliated with an attack of it's own this time, striking back with a physical attack, laced with psychic energy. Smirking, Tenebrae took note of Sharada's subtle surprise. "It is still fighting with all it's might. A worthy foe." But for Sharada, something else was plaguing her mind, as a worried expression crossed her face. "But, you can see it, right? It's bouncing is getting weaker." Together, the trio examined the Spoink and ever so slightly, one hop would look weaker than the rest. Tensing up her face, Sharada wore a frown. "Where I'm from, it's said that a Spoink can die if it stops bouncing. That... Is something I couldn't bare to see." "It is far from death. That Spoink has more than enough energy to flee--" Pausing, Tenebrae noticed Sharada begin to rummage around in her bag and with a sudden pull, her gloved hand grasped and pulled out a lone ball.
"It's best to be safe." Sharada cut in, enlarging the ball in her fingers by pressing the central button. Remaining silent, Tenebrae stood, his eyes staring directly at Sharada without any hint of subtly. The Rocket was a difficult one to grasp at times, she would often fight conflicts in her own mind but in terms of a Pokemon's safety, a slither of her gentle personality would often peep through. Looking over his shoulder, Caesar submitted and took a step out of the way as Sharada pulled her arm back and threw forward a Great Ball.
The Spoink was indeed getting tired. Far from death maybe, though it was thought that if it stopped bouncing it would die. It seemed as though Sharada was kinder to Pokemon than the R would let people see, because the Great Ball surprised Spoink as it bapped against its head and sucked it in. A wiggle or so later and the Pokemon was now Sharada's.
