Name: Wade Mahogany
Trainer Type: Wade is generally a normal trainer, with some knowledge of Pokemon breeding and the barest knowledge of what it means to identify an Apricorn for use with creating Pokeballs.
Hometown: Azalea Town
Appearance: Wade is tall for his age with broad shoulders and slightly tanned skin. His hair is dark and wore at a medium length in a messy and slightly spiky style. His eyes are grey-blue in color and typically narrowed out of habit. His hands are larger than his build would ask for, implying he may still be growing despite the fact he is already five feet and eleven inches tall. On his torso, and his forearms numerous small scars and calluses can be found from days attempting to work at his family’s smithy. Typically he wears a pair of loose fitting dark colored jeans, as well as a blue t-shirt, orange jacket, and black and orange colored shoes.
Personality: First and foremost, Wade is a young man who refuses to give up. He has strived to work his hardest in every day of his life so far, and even with the shuttering of his family’s smithy he still moves with that strong sense of determination. Where this benefits him in not giving up and keeping up the fight as long as he can, it also makes him somewhat abrasive in his dealings with others and makes him definitely as stubborn as a Tauros. Beyond his stubbornness and determination, he is filled with a sense of responsibility towards his family, and is very focused on making money and hopefully becoming rich enough to support them. It is for this reason that he decided to finally go on a Pokemon journey, despite his age.
He likes working metal and he likes learning about new things, especially pokemon and apricorns, and he also likes learning about (and eating) new foods. Beyond that, he is generally a simple man so long as you don’t bring up things such as the newest of technologies, which he despises simply because he blames them for his family’s business ending.
History: Wade was born to a hard working couple who’s families had lived in Azalea Town for generations. His father, Edward, was a blacksmith born to blacksmiths and his mother, Angelica, was from a family of shop keeps. As such, Edward was born and raised around the hard work and toil of family that worked for everything, and he did not spend much time fantasizing about being a pokemon trainer as a result in his earliest days. They were filled with watching his mother sew and his father smith as they tried to make ends meet, and occasionally with watching television with his grandfather when work was done. There they watched the Pokemon Championships and Wade became enamored with the fact that they seemed to not have money issues, even as a child he was aware that he had to take hand me downs and make clothes last longer than others. His family could not afford him going off on a Pokemon Journey at the age of ten, they needed his help in the smithy and the shop.
Living in such a small town where many stopped by only for the Pokemon Center or the likes of Kurt the legendary Pokeball-Smith made Wade keenly aware of people as they passed by. While he was sweeping the floor and they were talking about their newest capture he listened, slowly picking up knowledge about Pokemon because he knew he could not simply force Kurt to teach him to be a Pokeball Smith and that was the only thing that really seemed to make money in town. The dark haired young smith’s apprentice as such wanted to learn anything and everything he could about the Pokemon Trainer’s profession, Pokemon Breeding, or Pokeball Smithing. He watched what color apricorns that trainers brought to Kurt and watched what types of Pokeballs they came out with. In time he went so far as to ask to apprentice at the Pokeball Smith’s shop in the scant free time he had from his own family’s shops.
In time, despite his contributing to his family his father’s smithy and his birthright went down the drain. It was foreclosed on because his family could not pay back loans it had been forced to take with the smithy as collateral , and Wade’s father went on to help his mother with her little shop. With not much to live on for their family, Wade knew he had to do something and decided the best thing to do would be study to become a Pokemon Trainer. They seemed to always have enough money for things and if he could become a champion he would be able to buy his father’s smithy back and give it to his father. Part of him also thought he could master the art of Apricorn smithing on his travels and potentially become the next great Pokeball Smith of Azalea Town.
Goals: 1) Get a Pokemon and become a great Pokemon trainer so he can get richer to take care of his family.
2) Become a great Pokeball Smith and Smith in general so he can save his family’s business from disappearing.
3) Write the book on Pokeball Smithing.
4) Make friends and adventure, perhaps finding Pokemon compatible with Smithing as an art.
Other Info: His clothes and equipment were a from a collection of Pokedollars his family had been saving and not giving him since his first birthday, every year on his birthday.
