As quick as the red-haired young man was to snap off at Tristan, the young greenish-blonde haired trainer was ready to fire back. Silver rolled his eyes up towards the open blue eyes and back on Tristan before he shrugged his shoulders. Whatever. It wasn’t like this incompetent trainer was really worth all that much. Besides, all Silver had seen so far were water types – something that his grassy little friend could easily blow out of the park! “What that comeback supposed to hurt? You don’t even know my father.”Silver proceeded to use the edge of his foot to prod the small dinosaur-like plant Pokemon forward. Chikorita winced as the heel of Silver’s foot dug into her side. Her soft eyes looked up at her trainer, confused and a little saddened as he prodded her forward. “Don’t be scared, ya flat-footed plant. You got the type advantage! Look at that fish outta water – what’s it gunna do? Flop about and gulp for air?! HA!” Silver laughed at his own, ill-spoken joke as he used his index finger to point to the Horsea, who seemed ready. One hard kick, and Chikorita was sent out onto the battlefield. “Use Razor Leaf, now! Cut that gulpy back down to size with your sharp leaves!” If Silver had thought that the Horsea was limited by its small stature or its loss of habitat, he would have another thing to consider. The edge of the creek was more than enough room for the seahorse. Horsea released a blast of a frigid cold beam that slammed against Chikorita’s side. Although it shot out like water, as soon as the Ice Beam made contact with the Chikorita it easily froze up like Ice. “Chikkaaa!” Wailed his companion, who tried to shake it off, though the shivering was evident. “Don’t give up now. Be a winner, Chikorita, not a loser!” He instructed with a snap of his fingers. Chikorita, although shaking and shivering from the icy cold touch of Horsea’s last attack, hopped into the midst of the fray. It spun the broad leaf on its head around and around, using it like a propeller to shoot off a barrage of sharp, jagged leaves to slice and dice into the small seahorse. “We’ll show you who needs to learn a thing or two about manners!” He snapped at Tristan. They would win this, then he would deal with Tristan’s smart mouth. Tristan noticed the crimson boy seemingly shrug off his snarky remark about his Father, his response was more than enough evidence to the boy from the Hoenn region that he was already under his new rival's skin, mental warfare was enough to best even the toughest of opponents and Tristan was all to aware of this fact. Without any fear in his voice and a smirk evident on his face Tristan locked eyes with the crimson haired boy and hit him with another remark,
"You're right, I may not have known you're Father but I can be sure that he wasn't very good at the whole parenting thing given how you speak and act"
It was really irking Tristan that the crimson haired boy was physically assaulting his own pokemon, that was a big no-no in his books and teaching this guy a lesson was something that Tristan was more than happy to do. Out of all the snarky remarks the boy had made to Tristan, one stood out more obviously than the others, his Horsea had the benefit of the small creek nearby in this battle but how was Tristan going to send Neptune into battle in an element such as inside a gym leaders building?! Tristan was sure that he would figure a solution to this problem, now he had to focus on the situation that was at hand.
Neptune released a blast of a frigid cold beam that slammed against the side of the crimson haired boy's Chikorita. The small, pale green pokemon was evidently shaking and shivering, the effects of Neptune's attack were extremely evident to the naked eye. Chikorita wasn't going down quite as easily as Mikey's Pidgey had done so in Tristan's previous battle as the grass type pokemon spun the broad leaf on its head around and around like it was some sort of helicopter ready to take off. The broad leaf on Chikorita's head was like a propeller as it shot off a barrage of sharp, jagged leaves to slice and dice into the small seahorse pokemon. Neptune winced in pain, the move had clearly been very effective against him and the seahorse pokemon was unlikely to be able to stand another barrage of that previous attack. Tristan looked over to Neptune and the seahorse pokemon caught his trainers gaze and could see the reassuring smile that was on his face as he nodded towards his water type pokemon, Tristan was evidently not lacking in confidence,
"Respect? Here's a lesson in respect for you! Neptune, finish this off with another Ice Beam!"
Despite the fact that his trainer was distinctly confident in him, Neptune still felt nervous as he eyed off his grass type pokemon. Neptune was worried about the events that could likely unfold if he missed the mark on his next attack, he could only hope that Tristan wouldn't treat him as poorly as the crimson haired boy was treating his pokemon. Tristan watched the scenes unfolding before him intently as Neptune the Horsea released a blast of a frigid cold beam that upon contact with its opponent would freeze and thus put the battle on ice.

This wasn't going as well as he'd hoped. This should have been an easy win. He spent all that time scouting something just like this: a beginner with a type disadvantage. But his rotten luck struck again. This kid was throwing out freakin' ice beam; the perfect curve ball for pokémon like he'd acquired. "Says the guy who bought a win," Silver shot back, restraining himself from falling into any further dad traps. Though, it was easy to see he was still very bothered by the father comments. "No dawdling Chikorita, razor leaf now!" The order was growled. Chikorita shuddered in response, though that very well could have been the chill leftover from Neptune's previous ice attack. She was wholly unprepared for such a thing and another coming her way was something she'd very much like to avoid. The grass type went into action as quick as she could. Stepping up and beginning to spin her large leaf. The horsea was faster though. Another stream of ice water propelled out like canon fire, coalescing into brittle patches of ice on contact with the leaf pokémon. She called out again as the attack cut through all her defenses. It was too strong, too quick. Her vision went white and she toppled over without another squeak. "Tch." Silver swiftly whipped out her pokéball and recalled her with a grumble that sounded something like 'useless'. "No new trainer starts with that kind of power, nor something that rare. Hope you enjoy your money winning and not your strength," he spoke sourly, an agitated flick of his wrist throwing cash into the air to flutter down where Chikorita once stood. The boy wasn't up for any more talk. This entire encounter had just set him on edge. Cheap shots and pompous. Just the sight of Tristan made his stomach churn. Silver spun on his heel and departed into the woods. VICTORY!

Tristan could only smirk as Silver attempted to gather enough intellect to provide his best retort to Tristan's verbal jibe's. The crimson haired boy's retorts were pitiful and quite predictable to say the very least, they only propelled Tristan to continue rubbing in the crimson haired boys impending loss in this battle as he was well aware that it was getting under his opponents skin as the mental edge was in Tristan's favour.
"Your chances of winning this battle are on thin ice"
Neptune conclusively put the battle on ice as his latest stream of ice water propelled out of its long, tubular mouth like canon fire, as it made contact with the crimson haired boy's grass type pokemon the stream of water begun to freeze over as patches of ice covered Chikorita's body. The sheer power that the ice beam move possessed in combination with the typing advantage that an ice type attack had on a grass type pokemon were abundantly clear as the crimson haired boy's Chikorita toppled over, completely unconscious and unable to continue battling.
"And now your chances of winning are frozen"
Tristan enjoyed listening to how salty the crimson haired boy was about losing the battle, he deserved every ounce of disrespect that was being sent his way, his treatment of his own pokemon was despicable and Tristan firmly believed that his trainer license should be torn up immediately, people like him did not deserve the privilege of being a trainer at all. Tristan smiled as he and Neptune looked at each other, he was definitely proud of his new seahorse pokemon. Neptune felt a sheer sense of relief as he watched his opponent faint at the whim of his ice type attack, this whole battling thing was definitely still a learning curve he would have to get used to that was for certain. The crimson haired boy tossed cash into the air as Tristan's reward for being the victor in the battle, the teenager from the Hoenn region couldn't help but leave with one parting jab towards his new rival,
"You know the difference between you and I? I have something money can't buy, a heart."
Tristan was as proud as punch, both of his battles so far had gone in his favour, both against trainers with completely different attitudes. Tristan returned Neptune to his pokeball to rest, the seahorse pokemon had earned it after his performance in battle, before the water type pokemon disappeared into his resting place Tristan nodded towards Neptune with a smile, he was evidently thankful to his partner for both his effort and the trust that he had this early into their journey together. Tristan set off from the scene of his latest battle, he was prepared for whatever challenge may lie ahead.

Clear weather and open skies always seemed to invite trainers into exploration. Around the bend of the small creek, the sounds of other trainers off in the distance could be heard. Most were shuffling through the tall grasses, whilst a few faced off against each other. No doubt, the two that young Tristan had faced off with only hours before – or minutes before, for the rude red-haired brute – would have either gotten themselves ensnared into other matches with trainers or other wild Pokemon. Most of the Pokemon along the route knew how to avoid the humans. As they trailed closer to their wild habitats, the sounds of noisy kids and heavy footsteps were sure to scare them off. Brown feathered Pidgey with outstretched wings raised upwards into the open skies to take flight. Furry purple and cream colored Rattata darted off through the thick growth of tall green grass and disappeared into underground tunnels that they’d dug out for their families. A small reddish-brown bird dived out of the air with its feet stretched out underneath it. Sharp dagger-like talons flexed under the Spearow’s tiny frame. With a quickness unlike many others, the dual flying and normal type Pokemon slashed out at a land-dwelling furry brown rabbit. Slash. Rip! Sharp claws seemed to cut their way into the furry hide of the Sentret, knocking the other Pokemon back. The small normal type Scout Pokemon toppled over and rolled in a bouncing bundle until it stopped short of Tristan. It was dizzy and confused. Easily enraged, it lunged out at the only thing in its path – the young blonde-haired boy who had just recently returned his blue seahorse back into its red-and-white Pokeball. A wild Sentret [Level 6] is attacking Tristan! What will Tristan do? Shiny Check:khN3WFRL1-421-42

Battles had come thick and fast for Tristan early on into his journey throughout the Johto region, he was thoroughly enjoying the lifestyle of being a pokemon trainer so far. Tristan travelled around the bend from the small creek on the route, that would limit his availability to use Neptune in battle as the seahorse pokemon would require a body of water to fight from, this was clearly an issue that Tristan would have to put to rest sooner rather than later.
Tristan had missed the events that had just occurred with the wild Spearow and Sentret, however he was now faced with enraged looking normal type pokemon that was lunging towards him to attack him. Fumbling into his pockets, Tristan retrieved Nami's pokeball and tossed it into the air as he attempted to create distance between himself and the wild pokemon,
"Nami, help this young one cool off with your Water Gun attack!"
Nami the Squirtle emerged from her resting place inside of the pokeball, she hadn't the fortune of a long rest between battles but that was simply the nature of the events at hand currently. Nami was in close combat range with her new opponent that was intending to attack her trainer, she quickly cocked her head back and then proceeded to toss it forward as a spiral of water emerged from her mouth that was headed straight towards her opponent. The gleam of the Mystic Water that Nami was wearing stood out amongst the clear weather that the route was currently experiencing, it was truly a blessing and an apt day for a trainer to start their journey.

The sentret tried to focus on Tristan but found it hard and shook its head in an attempt to clear it. Why wouldn't he stand still! As it opened its eyes again it found itself face to face with round blue circle but as it took a few steps back it realized it was another pokemon. Right now it was more interested in Tristan and raised itself on its tail to spot him. It was certain he was the one who had attacked it, he was tall and it had been attacked from above, besides he had been present when it had happened so who else could it be? It fell to all four and ran around Nami, only to get hit by a powerful blast of water in the side which send it flying into a thorny bush. It screamed from a mixture of pain and anger and it looked crazed as it managed to pull itself free again. It's fur was hanging in rags and leaves and small sticks with small thorns were clinging to it. With a incoherent scream it lunged itself at the squirtle and scratched her wildly not thinking twice of where it hit her, which meant a lot of its attacking ran harmlessly off her sturdy shell. It clearly wasn't the sentret's day today and it had looked so promising when it had woken up. Usually it wasn't this crazy but every pokemon had a tipping point and Tristan and Nami certainly got to experience this ones. The wild Sentret was very clearly agitated and redirecting its aggression out on a completely innocent civilian in Tristan. The situation was convenient to Tristan thankfully as the scout pokemon would provide some extra training for Nami the Squirtle. As the wild normal type pokemon fell to all fours it was greeted with a powerful blast of water to its side that sent it flying into a thorny bush close by, courtesy of one tiny turtle pokemon.
Nami marvelled at her attack as the scout pokemon screamed in pain, there was a clear disparity in battle experience between it and her. Tristan felt rather remorseful as the normal type pokemon retaliated as best it could, however it's fighting intelligence had apparently gone missing as it was blinded by anger and haphazardly scratched away at Nami's sturdy shell, an ineffective means of combat to say the very least.
"Alright Nami, seems that first one didn't quite do the trick, let's cool this little hot headed one down with another Water Gun!"
Nami was all to happy to oblige to her trainers directive as she focused her gaze on the wild Sentret opposite from her. The tiny turtle pokemon cocked her head back in preparation for her water type attack as she would then proceed to toss her head forward suddenly thus releasing a powerful spiral of water from her mouth that would be targeted at the hot headed Sentret, a clean hit was sure to put a premature end to the normal type pokemon's day.

The sentret had not withdrawn from Nami and clung to her shell with one paw while attempting to scratch her face with the other. It used its tail to support itself and hadn't it been so furious it might have been a more clever and challenging opponent. As it was now it was easy for them to handle it, Nami took a deep breath and had to turn her head in a bit strange angle to get a proper aim now her opponent was so close, but she managed and a water gun square to the chest send the scout pokemon flying backwards and was in for a rough landing on the dirt road. It lay gasping a bit and then tried to stand but had to give up, it was soaked to the skin and soon began shivering. Laying down it gave up and had a look of resentment as it stared blankly ahead, what a horrible, horrible day. A shadow appeared, it was the spearow from before, it watched the scene warily and landed nearby the sentret. While watching Tristan and Nami closely it carefully made its way over to the sentret and prodded it with a foot. The sentret just sighed and didn't move. The spearow shot it a glance and then smirked, it bend down and snatched something that had been tucked into the fur in the sentret's tail, it was a berry. With it in its beak it paused, looked at Tristan and Nami and gave them a nod as thanks, then it jumped up and flapped away. It's plan had worked perfectly, gotten the sentret riled up and letting a human trainer do the work for it. The sentret let out another sigh, and turned an eye to look resignedly at the human and his pokemon, what would they do now? Nami blasted her way to victory! She gains to levels and becomes lvl 12 and learns Withdraw! You can catch the sentret if you wish. The wild Sentret took a dosage of Nami's Water Gun attack directly to the chest which sent the scout pokemon flying backwards along the dirt path. The normal type pokemon had attempted to stand back up and continue fighting, much to its credit, however it had definitely taken too much punishment to continue as it lay motionless gasping for air on the ground. Nami looked towards her fallen opponent's body with a smile on her face, the tiny turtle pokemon was proud of her efforts, it had only taken her two attacks to get the job done in this battle.
"Nice work Nami, I'm sure our friend here will have plenty of time to cool off now and think about his actions"
Nami turned and nodded her head in appreciation towards her trainers acknowledgement of her effort in battle. Tristan retrieved Nami's pokeball and proceeded to return the tiny turtle pokemon into her resting place as he noticed a wild Spearow arrive on the scene, directly next to the wild Sentret that had just fainted. The avian gave a nod of thanks towards the blonde haired boy as it retrieved a berry from the fur of the scout pokemon, that was the likely source of the rage that induced the wild Sentret. Tristan shook his head in relative disbelief towards the situation, this whole journeying thing was a weird, wacky and wonderful thing that he was slowly but steadily getting a handle on as the blonde haired boy continued forwards along the route.
