“Hrr-umpf!” The childishness of it realized itself to San, seeing as her arms flew to her pockets-- though she subtly pinned her flushed embarrassment on the weather with a quick wipe across her nose, then voiced with pantomimed smartness and an unintentional touch of irony: “You don’t have to ignore me.”
Distanced in fog, Spearow called a low crone. There was an ambience for a moment, no chattering and no spontaneous chaos. There was Gon, distracted by now, rolling around in the snow with blissful abandon. Tomo shrunk against her trainer’s legs, the bird above, tips of its wings, breaking murky cover as it wheeled around the group.
San scowled up at it, daring it to act on dastardly intent. Instead, it carried on its lazy circles. There was something intentioned about it. Less “vulture” and more like those carrier Pidgeotto from those made-for-TV war movies--
And then the boy came tramping from the woods in a burst of undergrowth and more bird-noises (to Tomo’s chagrin) so San descended with a sigh once again into the reality of being a trainer.
Actually, she was flattered to be asked to battle. “Woah, really? Man, I haven’t heard that since I was a kid.” The “you-can’t-say-no,” which a younger San genuinely believed was a law. What that girl wouldn’t give to be offered a true-blue challenge!
But the piplup had already taken sides, and San was taken aback by the fervency with which it came to her. She stammered out to Jimmy, “I don’t know… I wouldn’t want to be treated like a prize, you know?
“How about we just battle? Like, just for fun! I’m kinda a new trainer too, you know! I think we could both learn something--
“--right, Tomo?” She sent a warm smile down to her sniveling, shrunk-down caterpillar, the scatterbug processing the reactions around her, then finally laxing her tension and giving a ready, willing nod.
Sending Tomo out again. And Oni's still in the party, she just sent him out of his Pokeball! I'd also like to turn the bike on again if that's cool.
