Her opponent sure wasn't a chatty one. Unless it looked like he was winning, then he had all sorts of hurtful things to prod with. The cheery breeder couldn't help but feel a little bit extra happy that her lombre managed to defeat such a tough pokémon, but she wasn't going to gloat about it. They were all here to have fun right? And she'd already done a tremendous thing to boost her rain dancer's confidence so that was win enough in her books. Though she'd get another wondrous sight in the next moment as the blue jackal made an appearance. "Oh..!" she gasped, wide eyes taking in the exotic sight. She was speechless. Barely taking notice of Max's words as he began digging in his pack. "How amazing you are!" Beth broke ecstatically. "Such a shine in that coat, gosh..." she paused to turn her attention to the trainer. "An ace trainer indeed! I--" she stopped, realizing the boy wasn't paying any attention to her at all. "Brea." Her pokémon grunted to snap her back on point. She blinked, finally piecing together what Max was doing. "Oh you, getting around my 2 on 2 rule ey?" she half chuckled, getting back into a more battle focused state again. This could be a problem. Even if this young pup was sent out to distract her a single round would be all Max needed to bring his flaaffy back onto the field. No matter what she did they'd be fighting the electric type so... "Right Lombre, it's time we bulked up a bit since they're giving us time." She'd just have to hope that speed would be her saving grace. "Make it rain buddy!""Lom!" The jolly pokémon wasted no time in getting to work. It was a mesmerizing dance that even the sky couldn't deny. Within moments cool drops of spring water began gently drizzling upon the area. "Mmkay boy, time to limber up," the breeder began, giving the riolu an apologetic look. "Anubis you'll have to be our practice go." And so he was. The Lombre was fast. Practically skating across the tiny build up of water seating on the grass as it continued to rain. The water seemed to be at lombre's beck and call as he zoomed in to melee rain and made for an uppercut. Just as he began the act water rushed upward with his motion and completely engulfed the young jackal. Anubis was flung into the air and dropped back down badly bruised. It almost looked like he could barely stand back up. vs Breeder Beth Weather: Raining (1/5) [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Lombre LV 18 HP 100% [55/55] [attr="class","qkt-wild-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Anubis LV 18 HP 19% [9/47] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] Lombre [Swift Swim]: Normal... Maxwell king » OOC: Potion used on Jupiter to top her off!
Beth had been so busy marvelling at how unique Anubis was that she had lost track of what Max had been doing, it was an unintentional diversion of sorts. Max was confused as to Beth's surprise that Max was willing to exploit any legal route possible to ensure victory, he had declared himself an ace trainer after all so she should have been expecting him to fight tooth and nail for every inch in the battle.
Beth's lilypad pokemon looked so docile and relaxed, in actual fact it was a monster that deserved to be feared, it was going to take a monumental effort to remove it from the battlefield. The task become even more difficult as the jolly pokemon started doing a mesmerising dance that appeared to summon the powers of the sky as spring water begun to drizzle gently over the area, quite the suitable element for a water/grass dual type pokemon. Beth's Lombre moved swiftly as it resembled an ice skater as it effortlessly closed the distance between itself and Anubis and delivered a devastating uppercut that seemed to have every inkling of water assisting the attacks impact as Anubis was sent flying into the air before dropping back down to the ground. Anubis looked like he could barely stand after Lombre's lethal water type attack, the poor jackal pokemon was biding time for his teammate to be back in fighting shape to bring the victory home for his team. For the first time in a very long time, Max felt terrible with the actions he had chosen to take, it had placed him into quite the position that he was now forced to work himself out of.
"Thank-you Anubis my friend, you're truly one of a kind!"
Sincerity wasn't something Max was particularly known for giving out on a regular basis, however his voice echoed that the male young adult was aware of the sacrifice that his fighting type pokemon was making for him, he couldn't allow the opportunity that was being provided by the emanation pokemon's valiant stand to go to waste. Max watched as Beth's Lombre moved so seamlessly throughout the new battlefield conditions that they were being treated to, this really was the work of an expert trainer to drag Max and his team into her backyard for an all out brawl.
Jupiter had come back to her senses thanks to the effects of the revive item that her trainer had given to her, the spray that Max had used on Jupiter had the electric type pokemon feeling as good as new again as she eye'd off her familiar foe, eagerly awaiting her turn to be reintroduced back into the battle. Max had exhausted the full spray bottle on Jupiter and quickly delved into his backpack again to retrieve another as he sprayed his pink sheep pokemon, she was going to need to be at the top of her game to finish this battle off. The time for talk was over, everything from here on out was strictly business, Max couldn't afford to make any more slip-ups should he wish to have a legitimate chance of being the victor in this enthralling battle.

It was all coming to the climax now. The riolu wasn't quite as tough as she had thought he would be, which was a little saddening. Beth felt bad for beating up the rare baby pokémon, but also kicked herself for now Max had more time to bring that flaaffy all the way back up to perfect fighting condition. Oh well, she couldn't know everything after all. "One more time Lombre," Beth kindly requested, clasping her hands together in front of her and then wishing she hadn't. Her palms were rather sweaty from the intensity of the battle. Though, luckily thanks to her lombre she could cool down and wash off in the gentle patter of rain that had overtaken the area. Nothing could help her rising anxiety for facing Jupiter again though. Lombre made it quick. A flash of whirling water crashing down not unlike a real waterfall would be the last thing Anubis saw and felt before unconsciousness took him. "Good night Anubis..." Beth sighed. It may just be the last time she ever got to lay eyes on a riolu. The type may not have been her specialty but it was impossible not to appreciate the privilege of getting to see one in person. "They certainly wouldn't have a chance without you," she added with a more chipper tone. Perhaps a little presumptuous, as Beth had no idea what other pokémon Max had in his arsenal. The little jackal may not have made any moves but he had done a great service for Max in this fight. The jolly pokémon skated back to the breeder, looking a little uneasy with the sight of a healthy Jupiter. Beth leaned down and rubbed his shoulders like a boxing manager trying to ease her fighter's nerves. "It's okay. You've got the rain on your side right?" She half whispered to her friend. "Lom.. bre" He nodded, bobbing on his feet to try and psych himself up again. Beth smiled a big smile. "Alright Max, we're ready for Jupiter round 2!" ANUBIS FAINTED

Maxwell king » OOC: Let's get to work!
It wasn't pleasant viewing for Max or Jupiter, both human and pokemon were extremely grateful for the opportunity that Anubis had just provided to them. The baby jackal pokemon had sacrificed his own personal betterment for the sake of his team, to say he was a true team player may have been the downright understatement of the century. Beth's Lombre was an outright monster, despite the obvious typing advantage that Jupiter had over the jolly pokemon, the lilypad pokemon made moving through the soaked surroundings look so effortless as if it were simply skating across the surface of the water. Max nodded towards his unconscious fighting type pokemon in thanks to the emanation pokemon's valiant sacrifice as he returned Anubis to his pokeball to rest and recover.
Max could hear Beth's mood changes just through the tone of her voice, on one hand she didn't seem very impressed with the tactic Max had went with to provide he and his team with a fighting chance at victory, on the other hand the fear was evident in her voice at the sight of a fully healthy Jupiter. The bubbly pink sheep pokemon made her way back into the fray as her facial expression indicated that she was here again for nothing more than some unfinished business. Max was like a stonewall, he couldn't afford to mess around with any strategies, providing Beth and her Lombre with an opportunity to change the pace of the battle even further would no doubt mark the end of Max and his team's stand.
"Let's get down to business Jupiter, hit em with Thunderbolt!"
From this point onward in the battle was sure to be an outright slug-fest with no room for error. The speed advantage was indefinitely in Beth's Lombre's favour as the jolly pokemon was going to give Jupiter no room to prepare a lethal electric type attack without taking some punishment back beforehand. Max watched on nervously in anticipation of the impending situation, was Lombre going to use his go to weapon in the waterfall attack or did Beth and the lilypad pokemon have one last trick up their sleeve. Jupiter prepared herself to take the brunt of whatever attack came at her next as her white mane begun to crackle with electricity pulsating throughout her body, the pink sheep pokemon was more than ready to finish off what she had started.

The rain poured down. It ran down the breeder’s face, mixing with the intense sweat that was building up on her face from the heat of the Pokemon battle before her. Lombre moved like a majestic dancer on the water puddles and the wet ground from the rain. It’s feet skidded across swiftly, and the green dual type with the large Lilypad on the top of its head moved gracefully as it zipped this way and that across the ground. “Remember you can do this, Lombre! Let the rain be your guide. Use Waterfall!””Lomb!” A resounding agreement as the Lombre ran forward with the force of a typhoon or a tornado. A large wall of water cascaded up high as the kappa-like Pokemon ran up on the top of the waterspout and guided the large wall to tumble over and pummel into the fluffy pink sheep. Flaaffy was battered by the water, which washed over and engulfed the electric Pokemon, before it fell and soaked into the ground underneath them. “You have done well at raising your Pokemon.” A last attempt at a conversation. Her opponent had been quite chatty and chipper when he seemed to be winning. But during the tough part of the battle, when it was almost evident that Beth would have won instead, he mostly shut up. Did he almost crack under pressure? Or did Maxwell need to put all his focus and concentration on his strategy? “But I wouldn’t be an expert myself, if I didn’t give you a challenging match. You may have brought your Flaaffy back fighting fit, but we’ve got the rain on our side!” She motioned with her eyes to the dark stratus clouds above that were thick and full and raining their precipitation down upon them. Jupiter was charged up for the attack. Small electric bolts circulated through the white wool around her neck and on the top of her head. The pink sheep’s tail stood tall and firm, with the blue ball at the tip lighting up with the electric bolts that bounced around inside. With a cry, Jupiter would send out a powerful electric bolt of energy that surged through the air and struck the Lombre solidly. The green Lombre toppled backwards and caught itself with its feet, staggering, before it fell completely to the floor. That definitely hurt! “Are you ok?” Breeder Beth called concerningly to her partner. He turned, a half-smile as he pushed through the pain. She nodded back in determination. “We still got this, Lombre!”vs Breeder Beth Weather: Raining (3/5) [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Lombre LV 18 HP 38% [21/55] [attr="class","qkt-wild-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Jupiter LV 22 HP 60% [42/69] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] Lombre [Swift Swim]: x2 SPD (Rain) ... Maxwell king » OOC: Penultimate round!
Beth's Lombre was like a dancer on broadway, totally in its element as it seamlessly covered the distance between itself and Jupiter. The electric sheep pokemon had been anticipating the dangerous looking water type attack that she had seen the lilypad pokemon used to make light work of Anubis. Jupiter was defenceless against the move, no matter how fast she tried to move out of the road of the attack, Beth's Lombre seemed a step ahead as the speed difference between the two pokemon was insurmountable at this point the battle.
Beth was clearly confident that her Lombre would be the victor, the expert trainer had seemingly emerged from her shell as the momentum of the battle swung in her favour while Max had retreated into his shell as the momentum he had garnered had come to a screeching halt. Max wasn't overly concerned with his social standing at this point in time, his core focus was directed to winning this battle and that alone.
Jupiter's Thunderbolt attack was lethal to say the very least, the lilypad pokemon opposing her certainly was now able to taste the power that the pink sheep pokemon had. After the round of attacks had concluded it was evident that Beth's Lombre was looking worse for wear than Jupiter was, however Max knew that he and his partner were not quite out of the woods yet.
This next round of attacks had the potential to be the conclusion of the battle or the beginning of the end for one of the trainers, who was going to emerge on top, the ace trainer or the expert trainer. Max smiled towards Beth, to say she was a tough opponent would be the understatement of the century, she was indefinitely living up to her reputation.
"Alright Jupiter my girl, let's try and put an end to this with Thunderbolt!"
Jupiter nodded her head in agreement to her trainers order, despite having been bought back into the battle at full health it was clear she would not be able to remain opposite Beth's Lombre for very long, she would have to end this battle as soon as possible Jupiter's woolly mane begun to crackle with electricity as she stood ready to withstand whatever Beth's Lombre attacked her with. Max could feel butterflies welling up in his stomach, he had a feeling that Beth was going to try and pull one last trick out of her sleeve to secure victory, whether Max's gut instinct was right or not was something he was going to find out first hand immediately.

Beth got not reaction from Maxwell whatsoever. It wasn't like he had been chatterbox but they had actually had a conversation earlier, now it was like he was inside his own little bubble and could only express his orders to his pokemon. A little kind smile appeared when she realized he had turned quiet when the battle had turned out to be a real challenge, and the fainting of two of his pokemon probably hadn't helped one bit. He might be an ace trainer but he still had a lot to learn, hopefully he would learn from it, whatever the result would be. Beth had felt quite sure of the victory but Lombre certainly hadn't liked that one attack and she knew her pokemon well enough to know when they were pressed, even though they might look fine to others. Her pokemon was not going to give up and would fight to the last, that was what Lombre's little smile had meant, but she had seen the pain and doubted he could survive another one of those shocks. The question was what was best to do now they basically had two options and with Jupiter being an electric type one of them wouldn't do much and probably wouldn't be able to turn things around. Besides she had gotten the rain running strong and it would be a shame not to take advantage of it, Lombre stood calmly with water gathering in his "hat". "Alright Lombre, you got this. Speed is on our side and with a good enough blow we can win this," she said encouragingly and Lombre bowed his head in acknowledgement and tipped the water out of his lillypad. He bolted forward and once again skated over the now one big puddle that was the ground, pulling the water with him and using it to smash into the electric type and sending her skidding backwards. Jupiter wasn't going to give up and let out a discharge which spread out and which Lombre had no way of dodging as it spread through all water and it staggered and then went down to one knee, and then collapsed fully. Beth sighed disappointed and recalled her fallen comrade. "Well done, you pulled through in the end!" Beth said with a smile, she was soaked to the bone but didn't look like it bothered her. "Your Jupiter is certainly one of a kind, and Anubis really must like you for it to be willing to hold out like that to buy you time," she said kindly and handed something that was as soaked as she was. "We had fun, and it was a real challenge,I hope we gave you enough resistance to your liking," she joked and then gestured to the things she had handed him, "That's a little thank you for the match."Jupiter won got her rematch and gained 2 levels, making her level 24! Beth is thrilled for the exciting battle and hands you over: £1200, TM09 Bullet Seed and a Miracle Seed! (ooc: are you counting words for your egg by the way, or are you waiting with that?)

Maxwell king » OOC: Onto Union Cave for an encounter!
The events of what would be the final round of the battle between Max's Flaaffy and Beth's Lombre could quite literally have gone either way. A critical hit from the lilypad pokemon's lethal water type attack would have sent Jupiter into another state of unconsciousness a state in which Max's sheep pokemon definitely didn't want to encounter again anytime soon.
Beth's Lombre's movements were graceful as it simply glided along the surface, the dual type pokemon was well and truly in its element and was giving itself the best possible chance to emerge victorious. Jupiter was sent skidding backward in response to the lilypad pokemon latest attack, she had been able to withstand the ferocity of the attack and now could return serve as her destructive electric type attack connected with Lombre and sent the smiling lilypad pokemon into a state of unconsciousness. Max gave a visible sigh of relief, he had been on knife's edge at the business end of the battle and the nervousness had been pooling up inside of him.
"Thank-you Beth, that was one hell of a battle!"
Max's gamble had paid off, it had come at the expense of Anubis during the battle but in the end he got the victory he had been longing for. Beth and her pair of pokemon partners had pushed Max and his team to the limit, it was easily his greatest challenge to date and had seemingly brought him back down to earth as he was humbled by the near loss. The battle with Beth had given Max a very good indicator of his progression as an aspiring ace trainer, he still had alot of work to do to get to that point, but these were the necessary strides to be taken to continue his upward trajectory. Max nodded acknowledgement towards Beth's words and accepted the reward for winning the battle with a smile on his face,
"I would love to have a rematch with you again one day, till then its back to the drawing board for me!"
Jupiter was glad that the battle was over, it had been quite the stint for the electric type sheep pokemon as she had carried the weight of her trainer and teammates on her back to come through with the victory. Max returned Jupiter into her pokeball for a well deserved rest before proceeding to put the winnings from Beth away into his backpack. Max then begun making his way towards Union Cave, the next landmark on his journey that was separating him from his hometown.

Union cave was a hard one not to find, with the near Pokécenter partway along the route signalling to all that it was close by, and a fairly well traveled path going right up to its mouth. When outside the cave innards didn't seem all that imposing. The walls were lined with faint lights and while the whole path may not have been particularly manicured like the routes throughout Johto, it was still obviously trodden down with years of steady traffic. Following a trail such as this it would be hard to get lost inside the cave. But this also meant that not many pokémon enjoyed crossing these human made trails. One could go all the way through and maybe only spot one wild one fluttering about, or by chance trip over a geodude that had been trying to hide. Today was one of those typical quiet days. Nothing seemed to be moving. The cave was quite save for an occasional drip from stalactites hanging above the various pools dotting their way through the walkways. Just when it seemed Maxwell would have no luck a sudden tiny tremor echoed down one of the offshoots. Pebbles rolled down the rock face of the cramped hallway. If one squinted into the darkness they'd find the hall was just as still as everywhere else. Whatever caused the reverberation didn't happen a second time. Perhaps a battle somewhere else? Maybe he was closer to the cave exit than he thought and some hiker was doing something just outside? It was hard to say, but just as he'd make to continue on his way a blue rock shifted. Just barely from the new angle it was possible to see the light faintly glint off of a magenta triangle that seemed lodged on the rock's side. Then there was a grunt. It was deep and rumbling, and seemed to come from the rock! A Nosepass (LV 10) has been spotted! What will Maxwell do?Shiny? Maxwell king » OOC: Onto Union Cave for an encounter!
Max's vision had definitely been impacted by the change in weather that had occurred as he made his way towards Union Cave. The route had become covered in fog and traversing much further out along the route was not advisable at this point in time with how thick the fog was. It seemed as though Max's arrival at Union Cave had been timed perfectly as the faint lights that luminated the path through the cavern gave solace to a trainer that wasn't particularly fond of the dramatic changes in weather that the Johto region frequently dealt with.
Whenever peace and quiet was present it never seemed to last for very long, at least that was what Maxwell had found out so far along his young journey as a pokemon trainer. A sudden tiny tremor had echoed down one of the offshoots and pebbles rolled down the rock face of the cramped hallway that Max was traversing through. Max frantically looked around to assess his surroundings and at first noticed nothing out of what would be considered ordinary, however after double checking he happened to notice a blue rock that seemed awfully out of place in comparison to the rest of the brown rocks. Max looked on perplexed towards the blue rock, how he had missed it on his first scan of the area was just an example of how long a day it had been and how mentally fatigued he was feeling. Max had a gut feeling that the blue rock was indeed a pokemon after he heard a grunt come from the direction in which the blue rock was, to deal with this situation Max released Anubis the Riolu from his pokeball. The emanation pokemon like the blue rock now in front of him stood out among his surroundings with the golden accessories that he was either wearing or had painted on. Anubis looked towards Max and patiently awaited for directions from his trainer as to what to do next,
"Anubis I need you to help me find out if I'm just seeing things or not, hit that blue rock over there with your Force Palm attack for me buddy."
Anubis nodded his understanding of his masters wishes as the golden earrings and golden relic begun to shake as the blue bipedal pokemon begun to dash towards the blue rock in front of him. Max shook his head a few times to ensure that he was still present and not actually in some sort of hallucinating dream, after the busy day that he had nobody could blame him for feeling the need to check that he was still one with reality.

The rock type pokemon was a strange one indeed and what was moving through its head would be continued to be shrouded in mystery. Despite its bluish color it was still extremely well camouflaged and hadn't it moved Maxwell could very well have walked right past it without even noticing. It was well adapted to the life in these caves and perhaps it was the reason that they were so rarely seen? Not because there weren't many but because they were hiding in plain sight? Even to Anubis this strange pokemon's aura would feel rocky and solid, there weren't much to it. It was neither good or bad, nor did its aura show any feelings from it, it was neither happy, angry or sad. It just was. The nosepass grunted again but didn't move, perhaps it was stuck or it tried to find a better position to sit in? Anubis' palms found its mark which was easy as the nosepass didn't do anything, it acted like it didn't even knew that there were others present. The Force Palm became its end though, as the force slammed it into the rock it was settled against, and through it! The destruction echoed deafening through the tunnels before it fall silent with the air full of dust. It only lasted for a few heartbeats though, as a sharp snap echoed through the air, followed by another. Cracks was beginning to form around the hole Anubis had made, and rocks began to loosen and could fall down any moment. Who knew if it would only be around the hole or if the rest of the tunnel they were in, would be affected too? Anubis removed the strange nosepass and gains 1 level [lvl 19] Edward gains 1 level from the exp. share [lvl 6] (ooc: +400 words added to egg)

Maxwell king » OOC: Onto Maxs hometown!
Max was sure that taking this plunge by having Anubis attack the blue rock wouldn't have many repercussions if any, that was so long as it wasn't actually a fire breathing dragon that was somehow hiding conspicuously under the blue rock, as Max thought about it more he realised how mentally exhausted he was feeling and how this was definitely impacting his cognition.
Anubis had progressed exponentially in strength recently with all the battling that he had participated in, that was showcased in the raw power that the aura pokemon utilised against the blue looking rock. Max's instincts had been proven correct as the blue rock was indeed a pokemon, however it was unable to fight back as the blue rock smashed straight through a rock nearby that was destroyed and sent a rumbling echo coursing throughout the cavern. Max noticed the hole that Anubis had created from the impact of his attack as rocks begun to loosen, they could quite possibly fall on top of them at any given moment, that was more than enough of a cue for Max to pick up and high tail it out of there before things could go bad.
"Let's get going Anubis, who knows what might happen, I don't want to leave anything to chance!"
Anubis led the way running towards the light that protruded from the end of the cave and onto the nearby route that connected onto Azalea Town, Anubis' bling made quite the sound effects as the emanation pokemon ran, there was zero chance they could have left the scene in any sort of sneaky way. Max was more mentally drained then anything and he knew that his pokemon were physically drained from the long day, their next stop would be to visit an old friend at a very familiar destination, after all it was about high time that Max apologised for his behaviour as a teenager to a certain somebody.
