Max had been heading back to the Cherrygrove City Pokemon Centre when he noticed some trainers younger than he was carrying around a fancy looking red device, it was at that very moment that Max realised he had forgotten to go collect his Pokedex from Professor Elm back in New Bark Town. After stopping in at the Pokemon Centre for a break and allowing his pokemon a chance to rest, the male young adult hit the road and made his way back to the town in which his journey had begun.
Arriving back into New Bark Town gave off a nostalgic vibe, receiving his first pokemon was a priceless memory he would never forget, he just wishes he hadn't have forgotten to collect his device which would act as a pokemon encyclopedia. Max arrived at the sliding doors of the laboratory as he trudged inside the building,
"Professor, I'm back, I kind of forgot something..."
"Just a minute!" came a voice from the back office, muffled slightly through the door and gentle hum of machinery. The lab hadn't changed all that much. It was a tightly organized mess, like many science labs. The main room stocked full of shelves and materials were an impressive collection, but on further inspection loose pages were shoved in-between books. No doubt still filed away in a searchable place, but it matched the scattering of files littering the various desks and tables.
It wasn't long before the renowned professor of Johto slipped out of the smaller room and zipped his way toward his company. The man was a little out of sorts. Likely still running numbers in his head as he made his approach, adjusting his glasses to sit higher on his nose. "Oh! Welcome back," he greeted with a little wave before dropping his hand back to rest at his side. "What brings you back here?" he inquired, genuinely clueless... for a moment at least. His facial expression lit up, "Ah! Wait I remember now..."
The man whipped around, coat tail flaring as he moved to one of the nearby desks. He grabbed something from behind one of the micro towers, its fans busily cooling the mini-healing station on standby, then hurried back to Maxwell. "I was meaning to phone you before you got too far so this is perfect timing." He extended a hand and offered the bright red device known as a pokédex. "Here you go, all updated and ready to go!"
"And I actually have a proposition for you," he continued, pulling a slip of paper out from one of his many pockets. "I'm collecting tons of data on the pokémon found in the wilds, and the easiest way to get recent data is to have some helpers going around Johto scanning all the pokémon they can. I was hoping maybe you'd be interested in taking this little device and scanning any and all pokémon you come across on your journeys." He handed over the flyer with a markdown of various milestones and rewards. "And of course I would give something in return for all your help."
"If you're up for it we can start with all the pokémon you own right now."
After the pokédex chimed it had completed saving the data Elm added onto his requirements for the task at hand.
"I have a lot of other trainers helping me out on this too, and while I don't mind some overlap it can skew the data if I get too many. So I've got a limit on how many pokémon I'll allow shared per trainer."
So after going through all of Max's threads I realised that I haven't been very good at keeping up to date with this so thought I'd better get onto it.
