Lillis smiled at the researcher, the face lighting up as she pushed a strand of dark blonde hair behind her ear. He wanted help to learn about pokemon? She loved learning about pokemon! Surely it was just chance, but this could be a chance to actually prove herself useful and not just some other snot-nosed brat determined to become the best trainer ever. She was going to take the gyms on... At least she thought she was... But then, it certainly wasn't a driving force - more a way to prove to herself and others that she was learning something.
"So all I have to do is let the pokedex register when I see a pokemon or catch it, and that helps you?" It really sounded too good to be true, but it wasn't even going to take her much effort. It would just be part of the typical day to day routine as she went about her journey. "You got it. Does it update you automatically, or do I have to register it somewhere?" She wanted to make sure she knew exactly how to go about it. Maybe her future lay in research?
Professor Elm for once was briefly in the present and took time to explain what he needed carefully to the child in front of him. She nodded and her face beamed so he believed she had understood him and was eager to help him. "Yes! You just open the pokedex and point it at the pokemon you want to scan and the pokedex will do the rest! Just be aware that it will be able to get more informations about pokemon you have caught than ones you just pass along the way, so you'll need to catch some as well," he said kindly. "It will help me a lot! It can tell me where you have seen them, their size and even what they know of attacks!" He said cheerfully, it could of course register other things as well but the raw data was the most important and probably the most boring to hear for a kid. He expected her to better understand it would save what she could see when she checked a pokemon on the device.
"Oh, right. You will need to either come back and let me transfer the data from your pokedex, or you can send the data to me over a computer in the Pokemon Centers. The pokedex cannot link to my pc on its own, so you have to let me know when you have collected some knowledge for me," he explained and let her register what she had on her already before showing her how he transferred the data. "This is a good start! You already have two pokemon in here!" He said excitedly and began to type on his computer as he got the computer to work on the data and add it to what else he had on Charmanders and Delibirds.
After a while it would become clear that Elm had forgotten Lillis was there, as he had already been caught up in his work and was busy rummaging around with it. After a while he'd get up and walk straight past Lillis, if she hadn't helped herself out already before that, and left the room mumbling to himself about why some pokemon didn't evolve while others did.
(ooc: just a note, you don't need to roleplay that you register the pokemon you come across/catch. Just request it here and we get you updated)
