Name: Faith Doherty
Trainer Type: Pokemon Trainer
Hometown: New Bark
Appearance: Faith is of average height and weight. She has very pale skin, and some freckles just below her eyes. Her eyes are oval shaped, and the irises blue. She has a small nose, and full lips. She has high cheek bones. On her arms and legs she has some freckles like on her face. Her hair is waist length, red in color, naturally curly, and what her mother would often consider 'unmanageable', which was fine to Faith who wouldn't bother too much and just put it in a ponytail. In order to keep from being too restless at home, she would exercise which leads to some muscle. Due to her pale skin, it easily burns in the sunlight without lots of sun screen.
Since Faith doesn't care much for appearances, she sticks to simple things and prefers to wear things more suited to comfort, rather than style or fashion. In the summer when it's hot out, she would wear loose and light clothing, but enough to cover some of her body in case the sun lotion she put on did not qualify as 'enough'. Therefore, it's rare she would wear shorts and she would certainly prefer not to wear skirts. In the winter, if she is in a cold climate, she'd wear a thick jacket and comfortable sweat pants. She would only wear a hat if it is exceedingly cold out, because she doesn't think hats are comfortable.
Personality: Despite her mother's attempts to tame her, Faith is very adventurous. She dreams of exploring the world, and seeing all the Pokemon that inhabit it. She has barely stepped foot outside of the house she grew up in, except to visit the lab. Even there, she was limited to where she could go and spent her time reading. This has left her restless. Ever since she was little, she had been very ambitious. At first, this was illustrated by her love of board games (and her desire to win). While there was little way to express this trait growing up so isolated, she has always dreamed of being a Champion, or at the very least, a powerful Pokemon Trainer. She does not just want to put in minimum effort, she wants to win. Despite her love of winning, she is not a cheater and would never cheat her way to victory. Instead, she is honest. Growing up isolated has left her very naive. She knows little of the world outside of her home, despite reading earnestly. She has little practical experience and very little interaction with other people. This could easily lead to being taken advantage of.
Faith is a brave girl, and does not fear getting into dangerous situations. However, that does not mean she is foolhardy and will get herself into a life or death situation on purpose. She is likely to look at a situation, determine the pros and cons before jumping in. She has learned to be patient due to the way she was raised. After all, if it were up to her parents, she would remain in the town all of her life. Instead, she has to bide her time. She may be described as a tomboy, as she has no interest in appearances and would prefer to do something that keeps her busy.
History: In the distant past, before she was even a thought something happened that would shape her own life. Her mother, Lily Green, was an orphan. She only had an older brother to lean on, and she loved him dearly. At twelve years of age, he went on his own Pokemon journey. He had to in order to make money for the two of them to survive. He had her stay back in New Bark Town, since she was merely seven years old at the time and he felt a Pokemon Journey was too dangerous for his little sister. For a couple of years, everything was fine. He would send money back to his sister, and she would dream of one day joining her older brother as a Pokemon Trainer. Unfortunately, things did not work out well.
Two years after her older brother's departure she received a letter, rather than the money she was usually given. It wasn't from her brother. Instead, it was a letter from the Police Department closest to where she knew her brother had last been. They wrote to tell her that he had perished, and from their inspection it was believed that he died while attempting to capture a Dragon type Pokemon, though no one had been able to witness the events. From then on, her mother spiraled out of control. She refused to go on her own Pokemon Journey, and worked as soon as she was able to. She got into several bad relationships along the way. Eventually, she would marry, but she was always very paranoid and controlling. Not even a year after her mother's marriage, Faith was born.
It became apparent as the years went on that Faith was competitive by nature. She loved things that tested her, and loved competing against other people. Her mother often tried to restrict and tame her, forcing her to stay indoors as much as possible. She was completely home schooled, and when she did get to venture outdoors it was always within the presence of her mother. Whenever she was around other children, this would often earn her odd looks or the occasional teasing, which typically resulted in her mother bringing her back home. At home, she spent much of her time playing board games with her mother. Her father, who worked at the lab, was usually absent and spent his time at work or as far away from the family as often. Whenever he was home, Faith would try her best to get him to play with her.
Isolation was not the sort of life Faith wanted to lead. As she grew older, she visited the lab in New Bark Town and would read any book she could manage to get her hands on. She dreamed of being a Pokemon Trainer and being able to explore the world and live outside the tiny town in which she grew up. More than that, she dreamed of getting away from her overbearing mother. Every once in a while, she would get one of the scientists at the lab to talk to her and from them she would learn a little more about Pokemon. She grew close to one of the lab workers who appeared to take pity on her, and would often lend her books to bring back home and was the one who spent the most time with her. In fact, he appeared to enjoy telling her about Pokemon.
As soon as she was old enough, she would beg her mother to let her go on her own. This, of course, was the exact opposite of what her mother wanted. She would rather her daughter be protected, and close to home. She often dreamed of her daughter marrying, and living a safe life in New Bark Town. She would plead, she would clean the house, listen to her mother more, and did everything within her power to make her mother change her mind. It never worked. When she tried to beg her father, he would either shoo her away, make excuses that he go to the lab. She would often vent to the lab worker she'd made friends with, and while he took pity on her, he could do nothing without her parents permission. She eventually came to the conclusion that she wasn't going to be able to become a Pokemon Trainer while living under her mother's roof, and eventually let the subject drop. This pleased her mother, who figured her daughter had finally settled down to the idea of staying in New Bark Town.
While living under her mother's roof, she obeyed and kept to herself. Just like she had always done growing up, she spent her time reading. What her parents did not realize was that she was just waiting to be old enough to get out of the house and become a Trainer no matter what her parents wanted. Her mother was still just as controlling as ever, and she was still forced to remain indoors most of her life. She was, however, determined to go the lab the moment she turned 18 and set out on her own journey.
Goals: While she isn't a hundred percent certain, she does want to take on the elite four and become a champion, or perhaps she may just want to be a gym leader. She hasn't determined it all yet.
Other Info: It has been a few years since last I roleplayed, and haven't really done one with Pokemon. While I have played the games, I am new to it in this form. I am particularly bad with describing appearances, as I hardly look at people's appearances in real life, so that is short.
