Ultimately, Odayakama Senshi was currently scouting her journey and looking for potential within these routes. More specifically, to train her pokemon and grant them experience, and or to find a potential worthy asset to add to her repertoire. Was it somewhat cruel to think of pokemon as assets? Perhaps, but it was also a prospect that was entirely true. Pokemon were vital, and she would develop undoubtedly alongside them. Looking at the gentle tall grass, the old road that seemed to have been traveled and worn by many, she firmly reached for her belt to grasp a red and white ball, her second one to note. Clenching her hand tightly, she points it outward. "Pidgey. I need your services!" In truth, she found herself most fortunate that she had caught a flying type as her first Pokemon. It had many uses, more so than just being a simple combatant, and a Pidgey had much potential to grow at that.
As her avian friend pops out with a puff of their chest and a slight flap of the wings, Senshi looks about the surroundings one more time before giving her first command as a trainer. "Take to the skies and find a potential fight for us Pidgey. Be my eyes." Crossing her arms behind her back, she momentarily considers the stock she possesses and was enthusiastic about the prospect of catching something new, or getting into a grand battle today, either with a wild pokemon or trainer alike. She had preparations to fulfill in order to reach the next stage, and she would feel much better with herself if she could slightly diversify her party a bit more before pressing onward. Diversity was important after all.
The road of a trainer was one that was often a bit unpredictable and hard to see exact goals of, but Senshi already knew her dreams didn't she? To become famous, wealthy, respected. All of these things were overall goals, but something that would take a long, long time in order to build and develop. She gave a small sigh as she stands in this beautiful morning, taking in the sights and nature as she awaits for Pidgey to return to her, to see what exactly it was she would be facing off against today. Her journey was just beginning after all. Wasn't it? The real question was where the journey would take her. Not the goal. By the time she reached her final destination, she likely would have gotten everything she was looking for and more. Now that sounded like a grand way of saying that the journey matters more than the purpose. Idealist thinking. May the odds be in her favor in her attempt to capture and or face off against some new Pokemon for the experience.

The sun’s warming rays cast down from the heavens uninterrupted by the soft puffs of clouds that decorated the skies in sparse disarray. Wild feathered Pokemon flew off in the distance, some appearing to be the kindred spirits of Senshi’s Pidgey whilst others seems a bit different in their form. Still, their loud cawing and the fluttering of their wings signaled they quick retreat across the open air into far off distant wonders. Wild Butterflies fluttered in the open breeze, decorating the open air but always just out of reach from Senshi’s team. A sound could catch their ear if they were curious enough to venture. A scuffle shuffled through the foliage on the forest floor. A blur of purple fur and reddish-brown feathers rolled and tussled about as they disappeared through bushes and tangled vines. Once separated, the powerful Spearow cawed out and stretched its wings dangerously as it pecked at the purple rat, who bravely moved out of the way and hopped on the back of the bird before it could take to the skies once more. With a powerful kick of its hind legs in the scuffle, the Rattata sent the reddish-brown feathered avian spiraling into a tangled web of prickly vines. The Rattata would hop on top of the bird and with a quick chomp of its long sharp incisors it would finish the fight, ensuring that the Spearow became nothing more than a crumbled heap of a defeated Pokemon. This was the wild after all, and it was lawless. Fearless and brave, the Rattata would huff and puff as it bounced back and forth, scanning the area for a worthy opponent. As soon as it set its sights on Senshi and her flying feathered friend, the purple rodent could come barreling towards them with a loud battle cry. “RA TAT TAAAAAAAAAA!” Oh my! A wild Rattata [Level 7] is charging straight for you! What will Senshi do? Shiny Check:kgUJ1rYt1-421-42

When presented with the prospect of this rattata approaching her, she had seen its victory and was thoroughly impressed with what she saw. A crushing set of jaws down onto the leg of the bird pokemon before her, and with it, she knew it seemed to be useful. Useful if not in the sense of battle, then a keen nose and swift scout. Despite being one of the most common pokemon in existence however. So, with such noted, and considering Pidgey was already out, Senshi firmly sweeps her right arm outward in a motion. "Pidgey! Use Scratch!" It was Pidgey's most common assault of course, but with it, the flying type pokemon would twist in mid air with a flap of its wings and would propel itself downward with the assistance of gravity, its talons extended, looking to deliver a sharp slash straight for the Rattata's face, to press her talon legs to push against their target. Pidgey if successful would swiftly attempt to recompose herself and push back, standing inbetween the rat and her trainer as she opens her wings wise with a sharp cry announcing her presence.
The will of one warrior to another. Senshi herself stood firmly, arms by her side as she looks to see what Rattata had to offer in terms of martial prowess. She hoped she wouldn't be disappointed. After all, there were plenty of Rattata in the forests after all, and she had plenty of scouting potential to pull from. A Rattata roasted by a fire sounded tantalizing, and she half wondered the talent of her foe. It was brave, that was for certain, fierce, and ferocious. Let the battle begin!

Time was a deciding factor in many battles. The Rattata’s beady eyes narrowed down on the winged Pokemon – its opponent. It’s whiskers quivered in anticipation of the battle as its feet kicked off across the ground. Pound. Rsshhhrsshhh. Pound! The loud thundering of its own paws echoed in the purple rodent’s ears. In an instance, the Rattata leaped up on a small boulder and launches itself in the air in a quick attack. The wild normal type collided with the Pidgey, knocking the bird out of the skies to come falling and tussling on the grassy forested floor below. It rolled over, huffing, and puffing angrily as its eyes darted around. Pidgey did her best to listen to her trainer, but she didn’t quite understand ‘Scratch’. It seemed foreign and so the Pokemon tried to outstretch her talons, then her wings, mimicking what she may have seen Charmander or another Pokemon do before. Still so foreign as it wasn’t a move set she was used to, the Pidgey would end up causing no damages. The purple rodent backed up and sat its rear-end on the earthen floor. It began to point and laugh profusely at the Pidgey, shaking its head dramatically at the failed attempt of a move. But this was no time for jokes. It wasn’t long before the Rattata would ease itself back onto its feet to face off with Senshi’s Pidgey once more. “Rattttatttttaaaaaa!” It roared, rearing for round two in this fight. Ultimately, when Pidgey seemed take the liberty to get knocked straight out of the air, perhaps she should have remembered what exactly it was Pidgey recognized. Perhaps she had forgotten that despite the fact Pidgey had the tendency to scratch their opponents with its talons, the actual move was “Tackle.” Yes, well, when seeing the capability of the Rattata in utilizing Quick Attack, the blurring silvery movement that allowed it to seemingly blur backwards at a fast speed, and then push forward off a rock to slam into Pidgey, Senshi knew something then. She wanted it. Yes, she did quite want this Pokemon now for certain. It seemingly had potential. “Pidgey. Don’t let it make a fool out of you. Square up and use Tackle!” Luckily for her. Her goal wasn’t to knock the Rattata unconscious.
All she had to do was actually capture the thing. She learned it was brave and fearless, and she had the impression that it was fairly strong. Besides, it seemed to have a good capability as a hunter if it really wanted right? Rattata could hunt. Pidgey could scout, and Charmander could cook. Easy as that. Her Pidgey was strong. It could handle this battle. No problem. Surely. Though she’d make sure to remember Pidgey’s proper moveset next time. Lest she upset her potential assets. Hopefully with a recognized command, she could go ahead and push for victory. With her strength consolidated and decision ultimately made, the young trainer just thought about the ripe possibilities. She hadn't originally been looking for a Rattata, thinking they were rather plain and such, but this one seemed special to her right about now. Besides, it wasn't as if it hurt having a normal type in the party. She could diversify a little more later.
For now, having an extra buffer was a good idea. Besides, Rattata too could be a good asset. Right?

The weather was clear, but the fight chased off the other wildlife. The sounds of birds cawing in the skies above dissipated instantly. Only two compatants remained on the forested floor below, their warrior’s spirit facing off with the other one as they stared each other down. The brown-and-cream colored bird floated above on the air with its wings, whilst the furry rodent seemed to shift back and forth through the tall grasses and weeds. Only the dancing tall blades of grass seemed to give away its location. It regarded its opponent carefully, distrusting, but unsure as to how seriously it should take the Pidgey who had failed on the first round. The warrior’s spirit was fighting strong within the purple rodent. The small rat beat its tail against the earthen ground at its opponent. Its fur bristled, standing on ends while the furry purple normal type faced off against the dual normal-and-flying type feathered avian. The Rattata focused its thoughts and its energy, taking in long deep breaths and slowly releasing them. “Raaaaaaaaatttttttt” It murmured in a low breath. A light blue aura surrounded the Rattata. In its head, the Pokemon focused on the call of the fight and the will of the warrior to see it through the next round. Pidgey, however, wasted no time or energy. While the Rattata focused its energy together, the bird chirped out in response and ziplined over to its opponent. The brown-and-cream feathered bird came flying in a crash course into its opponent, ramming the Rattata with everything that it had. It lashed out, tackling the other opponent, and knocking it backwards into a thicket of tall weeds. The Rattata crawled out and shook itself off. It sat back on its haunches and used it long incisors to pull a few thorns out of its is fur. Its whiskers tensed and twitched as it eyed this bird more warily now. Two warriors facing off with each other. Confronted with the avian performing a move she'd never actually seen the effects of in person, all she could do then of course was damage it as much as possible. That was the way to go. "Take to the sky and use tackle!" Giving a firm order, the Pidgey flaps its wings open and attempts to take to the sky for the momentary, taking a short flight before soaring up into the air and divebombing at fast speeds, looking to slam the Rattata straight in the head with her whole body mass, The shadow of her form blocking the rays of the sun as her talons look to press down upon this purple rat like creature. In truth. Senshi was having a good time. She enjoyed watching Pokemon battle like this, and she certainly enjoyed the prospect of soon owning this Rattata. In truth. Even if she lost, she figured there was value indeed to be had. Value how one might ask? Well. If not the Pokemon itself. Then the experience she was learning was paramount.
Still firmly clenching her Pokeball in hand, all she knew for certain was that she wanted this Rattata on her team. As her Pidgey attempts their very best to deliver damage, Senshi momentarily considers her courses of action and realizes that she ought to balance her team properly before moving onto the next city or town over. Diversify her team. So far, she had a fire type, and a flying type. Those were good foundations, and Rattata would be her mid ground pokemon for when she didn't have any particular preference. A buffer if one could consider it that. So, with that established, she would momentarily await, her blue eyes gazing ahead at the two Pokemon battling it out. Though, she had high hopes for success of Pidgey. After all. Pidgey was quickly becoming one of her favored Pokemon. Mainly because she only had two.
Still! "You can do it! Hit it harder!"

The rodent's big round ears twitched when the trainer gave her command. It nattered, the bucktooth bobbing with every sound. As fierce a foe as it was, Rattata would be no good with a bird in the air. It had learned through its struggles in the wild how to deal with such prey, as could be reminded with a glance further back behind it to the lump of feather it had downed just as Senshi arrived on the scene. With blinding speed it launched itself toward the pidgey just as the avian spread her wings. A swish of grass followed in the mammal's wake, the patter of rushed footsteps deceiving as to where the rat currently was. Just as Senshi's pidgey made her first hop into the air Rattata was there, leaping. There was a second of slow motion between the two as adrenaline spiked. The bird killer was coming in hard but Pidgey was in a good position to climb higher. So that's what she would try to do. Wing flaps hastening, she managed to get the height advantage on the airborne rodent but not enough to cleanly clear its attack. Rattata slammed into her lower body. With her feet caught as well she was thrown off balance and dropped to the ground nearby. Rattata noisily snorted, a rush of puffed air rushing through its nose after it landed on all fours. It quickly spun around to see Pidgey rapidly recovering and again making an attempt to get into the air. "Tata tata!" it roared, fur bristling on its hind as it again set forth after the bird. But this time the tiny bird pokémon caught a nice breeze under her wings and went with it, safely taking her out of the rat's reach and allowing her to climb for the planned dive bomb. It was a tense few moments. Pidgey circling above while the rattata watched cautiously. Then Senshi cried out. For just a second the wild rattata broke its concentration, startling even. It had been so focused on the bird it wasn't expecting a sudden cry from anything but Pidgey. Of who took this golden opportunity to dive. She came in hard and fast, aiming to do just as her trainer instructed: hit the rat harder. She did her best, barring any luck, but Rattata wasn't caught off guard so easily. The two slammed together as planned but the purple rat was swiftly back on its feet and ready for another go at the bird. As Pidgey successfully slammed into the Rattata, it seemed that the purple rodent pokemon was determined to follow and return the favor with a devastating Quick Attack. The two pokemon ramming into each other, both fighting equally hard and hearty like despite Senshi's overall mistake before. "Excellent job! Pidgey!" The avian pokemon slowly rises onto it's feet, fairly bruised, but still more than capable of giving a fight yet. "Pidgey, let's try that again and use another tackle! Give it a firm ram!" She for some odd reason felt like if she didn't defeat the Rattata in battle before capture, it might not acknowledge her strength fully. Give it a warrior's defeat. So with it, she firmly holds her ball in hand, Pidgey running on its two feet before leaping slightly into the air. What was it that the bird would attempt to do?
Bend and tilt its head so that it's skull would collide straight into the head of Rattata. A hopeful powerful and budding headbutt. Though, Senshi did wonder something as she observed this Rattata. Why was it that it only seemed to use Quick Attack so far? It was something she had to consider. Was it just significantly better than Tackle in every regard? Whatever the case, this battle was soon to end up in its climax, and Pidgey was likely desperate to finish this battle. Senshi wasn't as desperate so much as excited at capturing and utilizing such a brave and quite frankly ferocious Rattata on her team. One could only imagine what would happen once it evolved into a Raticate. "Pid-gey!" As it slams its head downward in it's attempted assault, its chest puffed up with a strong sense of pride and heavy warrior spirit.
This was the thrill of being a Pokemon trainer. A battle. Whether it be with the lowliest of pokemon to the grandest of them. The battle was tense, rough, and it showed that there was a definite strength between them. However, Senshi would need to continue onward yet. Pressing on the route to success, as she had witnessed Rattata's blitzing speed, and impressive power, as well as ingenuity to assault Pidgey, Pidgey made up for it with cunning ferocity. A keen eye that would allow it to act and strike forth, and she had no doubts it would only get stronger and more experienced over time. That moment she was waiting for. It was coming. Another hit or two was all she needed. Though, she had to figure. Perhaps it would recognize when it was beat. It had gotten lowered this far after all. Decisions...decisions.

Rattata was skilled in bird hunting and it knew that speed was on the essence here. They could fly and if it wasn't quick enough they would get a way. It would need to rapidly slam them back to the ground to keep them close enough for it to beat up and in that way wear them out. This pidgey acted a bit stupid in its mind, instead of a few counter attacks and then trying to fly away, which most did and the ones who succeeded lived to see another day, this one kept battling, and then there was the human standing close by and shouting randomly, perhaps she was scared for the pidgey. Rattata was pleased to see how bruised Pidgey was, a bit more and it would be over for it. The purple rat rushed forward as Pidgey made a running start but this time the bird was faster and managed to get into the air and avoid the leap from the rattata. The rat landed on all fours in the grass and spun around to keep track on the bird, it tilted its head confused at the funny posture Pidgey took, and readied itself for having to chase it down from the ground. It could do that, this pidgey was so tired already it would be worth following it and keeping it from resting, that way it could get its prize in the end. Pidgey didn't do that and the rattata tensed and then jumped to meet it midair. Rattata's speed with Quick Attack did that it met Pidgey before she expected, and her fragile neck wasn't really build to headbutts so she felt like she hit her head first into a wall and she was unconscious before she hit the ground. Rattata landed nimbly beside her and took its time to trot over and claim its price, Senshi was completely dismissed as the purple rat didn't see her as a food source. Darn it all. Pidgey. Defeated just like that?! It was something to digest, but she didn't blame her Pidgey. No. It was her own ineptitude. For a prideful girl like Senshi, it was surprisingly not hard for her to admit her faults when they were present and existed. Pidgey lay beat, flat against the ground, unable to fight any further, unconscious all things considered. Firmly swapping the ball in her hand, she reaches for her belt. "Return!" Firmly then, she reaches for another red and white ball and holds it outward. "Come forth! Charmander!" Looking to utilize the Rattata's surprise, assuming it had never seen a Pokemon trainer swap out a pokemon in such a manner, this time, she wouldn't make the same mistake as she had Pidgey. She knew her fire type better than most other pokemon. Why not give it a shot with the brand new move she learned previously?
"Charmander! Use Ember!" Taking the liberty to step forth, the small fire lizard puffs its chest before releasing a small gout of flame towards her target. Chaaar-mander!" The bright orange flame would look to put the enemy Rattata out of commission as it bathed the rat in bright warm embrace. Standing firmly, she waits to see the reaction of her fallen quarry, once again reaching for her potential Pokeball to use on the purple rat. The cheeky purple rat. Pidgey fought hard. Pidgey by every means was a pokemon she could call a winner and a worthy asset. She fought loyally, best as she could. There was little else Senshi could ask for really from such a pokemon. Once she was done capturing this special beast, if and when she had the potential to fully defeat it, she knew that the prey it had defeated would be hers. Roasting on her fire for the night once all was said and done. The, and only then would she feel truly fulfilled for the day. Well...maybe.
After all. She wasn't sure if a single bird was gonna be enough to fulfill the appetite for a Pidgey, a Charmander, and herself. Hrm. Would she return back to town and get a nurse to handle her pokemon's wounds and buy some food on the way? Or maybe she could spend some more time hunting for potential pokemon for her team or prey. Perhaps she'd even forage in the woods and look for something good to eat from nature's growth. Whatever the case. Lot to think about. Little time while she was watching a Rattata get bathed in fire.

The rattata stopped abruptly when its prize disappeared right in front of its nose, right when it was about to sink its teeth into it. It stared at the flat grass where Pidgey had been laying a moment ago and it sniffed around confused as it tried to figure out where she had disappeared to. A red flash caught its attention and its head snapped up to stare fearlessly at the fire lizard that now stood in front of the human. It narrowed its eyes, it had no idea what what was going on but it was pretty sure they were the reason its prize had disappeared. It debated with itself if it was worth it, it was furious they had taken the bird away just when it had won over it, and it wanted to claim what was rightfully its. On the other hand, it had already another one laying behind it and it really wasn't that hungry, and it had never tried to battle something like charmander before so it wasn't certain how to approach that. Senshi and Charmander didn't give it much time to decide as flames gathered in the lizard's mouth and the rattata realized that they weren't going to let alone. Why they wanted to battle it was a mystery to it, perhaps they wanted to steal the other bird it had? Rattata disappeared in a blur and Charmander wheezed as she got the air knocked out of her, when the purple rat slammed into her belly in yet another quick attack. It darted back but Charmander was quick to regain her footing and showered her opponent in several hot embers. It was panting when she stopped but didn't look any less determined. In truth, Senshi really ought to consider herself lucky that the Rattata was there to burn under the embers as compared to the wild grass and such, lest she anger every single Pokemon in the local environment or drive them away for a period of time. However, with that said, Senshi would then firmly take advantage of her "Beginner Trainer" ruling so she had heard. "Charmander! Scratch!" That said, once Rattata had slammed into Charmander, putting the distance between them to a lower point before being covered in smoldering embers, the Charmander would proceed to swipe with her right hand, attempting to hit straight into Rattata's head. Assuming she was successful in beating down the wild Rattata, she remembered the rule set where for a little girl such as herself getting into the trainer business, she was allowed to catch Pokemon when they were fainted, at least up until she got her first gym badge that was.
So, with that established, Senshi would firmly hold her ball in hand, throwing it outward with a whirling curve of her right arm. If successful, her Pokeball would be aimed straight for the Rattata's head, to lock it into its pocket home. Her third official Pokemon. If and when Rattata was captured and added to her party as a new member, Senshi would take the initiative to take her Pokemon towards New Bark Town to the local Pokemon center for treatment. Ah, though she would also make note to take the fallen Spearow with her. Not to keep of course, but probably for dinner for the night. "Charmander. Return." She would take initiative to recover her small party in its entirety before heading off into the grass again. However, this time was a bit different in her approach.
Spending some time now in the nearby grassy land, she calls forth all of her Pokemon, including Rattata as she begins defeathering the fallen Spearow, keeping its feathers in a bag as she had taken time to butcher before calling her friends forth. "Lunch time." Firmly giving a good portion of the meat towards her friends, she'd take the liberty to leave the rest of it out on a tied rope for bait. Potentially to catch a new addition to the party once more. "Whew...hunting out around these parts should be a bit easier for the day. Catch some things here and there. Cook a few others...Welcome to the team Rattata." Not exactly...certain how it would behave towards her, she always wondered if Pokeballs had some sort of domestication setting to them or something.
[OOC Note: GO POKEBALL! Looking to generally take the party back to go get healed, and am going out hunting again. See if maybe there's anything good, or some dinner for the night. Use meat to catch more meat.]

Rattata had seen better days, it was definitely feeling the effects of the trainers avian pokemon's initial onslaught and now its new adversary was trying to roast it alive. Rattata was incensed at the human and her flaming lizard pokemon for taking its next meal away from it, all that hard work and nothing to gain from it, the wild was an unforgiving place to be. The wild Rattata had been preparing to use its remaining energy to dash towards its fire type opponent when it was clonked on the head by a red and white spherical device, said device engulfed the purple rat pokemon inside and dropped to the ground as it fervently shook from side to side. A few moments later the pokeball ceased moving and the glowing red light in the centre of the spherical device turned white, the mark of a successful capture.
As Senshi and her crew enjoyed the fruits of their labour they were being closely watched from a nearby bush by a small pokemon covered in brown fur. The scout pokemon had been standing on its tail scanning the area when it happened to notice the human and her pokemon feasting on what used to be a Spearow, rather than trying to pick a fight against these new threats the scout pokemon let out a screech and begun hitting the ground with its tail to alert others of its kind to the danger nearby, it wouldn't be long now before the normal type pokemon's friends would be nearby and ready to deal with these crazy people.

After spending some time working, she Senshi realized she had a pretty decent team going so far, for a young newbie like herself, but that she was going to need to whip her team up into shape, as well as find a wider diversity of members to add to her little group. So far, Charmander had never failed her yet, something she hoped to keep as a common theme, but she was going to need to put in work on training Pidgey and Rattata to get up to snuff. "Come out. Pidgey." Calling out, she holds the red and white pokeball outwards to call her forth, and with it, firmly brings it back down to her side. "Be my eye in the sky and let's get in training." Dedicated on keeping her party strong, she'd move on eventually. In her mind, Senshi was looking to be more than amply prepared for the first gym in her path, and also hoped to eventually find more unique Pokemon to add into her little retinue. As she steps along the road, keeping her eyes sharp and opened across the local grass and distant skies, she wondered if she was being a bit overzealous, maybe a bit slower than she ought to have been along this road. Whatever the case, she kept thinking in her mind, the battles to come. Of course, training on the wild Pokemon, that went without saying, but the idea of battling a trainer. She let her thoughts absorb her, straightening the fiery red blazer about her person as she kept herself enthusiastic. "Let's see what's out here today..." Speaking to herself, she was hoping for a fiery experience.
