Well, it is a Pokemon Roleplay forum, so why not?
What's your favorite Pokemon core series? What's your favorite non core game?
I haven't played all the core games past Black and White, but I have played a good number of them. I'm currently going with Soul Silver, though I want to try out the remade Ruby and Sapphire games, since I haven't yet. I didn't like X and Y so much, and don't plan on getting the newest ones (sun, moon, sword, shield).
I haven't played all the side games, either, but I still feel rather nostalgic over the old Pokemon Stadium games.

Hmm, that is a really good question. I don't know actually. I startet with Gen4, Diamond, Pearl and Platinium, and I really liked Soulsilver as well. Black and white I wasn't so happy for, but that was mostly that the sprites of the pokemon was enlarged so they looked pixilated when battling, and that annoyed me. After that I have enjoyed all pokemon games I have played (all in core series and a single of the Mystery Dungeon series) but haven't finished many of any after that. So I think Platinium and Soulsilver are my favorites, but none of them have been able to beat rpg which I'm addicted to

I love all types of games, and rpgs are one of them. Currently addicted to Octopath Traveler haha. SoulSilver and Heartgold were great for having two regions in a single game. Mmm, I just ordered Omega Ruby, because I remembered I loved the 'hideouts' in original ruby and sapphire.

I would have to go with Heartgold and Soulsilver with Platinum and Black2 White 2 as close seconds. HGSS had some many features I loved from following Pokemon, 2 regions even if Kanto was a bit smaller, 16 gyms, the epic battle with Red on Mt. Silver, the revamped safari zone not found in Gold and Silver and Apricorn Pokeballs.
As for the side games Colosseum and XD were my favorites as they were far harder than any of the mainline games not counting the very hard to unlock hard mode on White, Black, White 2, and Black 2. snagging Shadow Pokemon was so cool and them doing super effective damage to non Shadow Pokemon was an interesting mechanic. Stadium and Stadium 2 get my runner up as I loved their mini games.

HG and SS are really good games! Love that they have the Pokemon follow you outside the pokeball! I never did get to play Colosseum, if memory serves that was after the Stadium series and we didn't have the console for it, but I'd always wanted to play it lol. But, it's probably a bit dated now. Which is XD? I don't recall that one.

Colosseum is missing a few things such as physical and special move split so for example all Dragon type moves are special but besides that it holds up pretty well. It even has proper scaling for Pokemon so Wailord is gigantic while Castform is absolutely puny. XD was the sequel with Shadow Lugia which when purified knew the special move Psycho Boost. To this day it is the only legit way of getting Psycho Boost Lugia though it is kind of a niche move as after the first attack it seriously gimps Lugia's special attack stat that it needs for Aeroblast, still a neat way to throw someone off not expecting such a powerful attack on Lugia.
They are both totally worth playing despite their age though transferring to the newer games can be a pain as you would need a Gamecube and a few attachments to send them to the gen 3 games after beating the story. I only have a Wii so I cannot transfer any of them right now but I have all of the Shadow Pokemon purified including Lugia in my pc on the game just in case I ever do get the chance to transfer them.

My favorite is Black/White! My friends say that the fact that you can't catch older gen Pokémon until you finish the main story is too limiting or annoying, though I really think it's incredible that they made a brand new Pokedex. I really also loved the story and how Team Plasma makes you think and all. HGSS is a close second to be sure though.

What is my focus? Who do I want to be? Is anything I write\say worth while?

For the main line, I would have to say HG\SS since they were the first games I bought for my DS. The console line I want to say Gale of Darkness. There is one which had a snag machine to steal other Pokemon because somehow they were corrupted. It was the only way to gain new Pokemon because there were no wild ones. Pokemon Go would, much later, revive this mechanic to a lesser degree.

I don't have a favorite Core series per say but Crystal holds a close place to my heart. Mostly because that was my nickname for a long time (especially online) by everyone I could convince to use it. My parents wouldn't, because it was too dissimilar to them to my real name, lol. It's no longer an online handle I go by though.
Non-Core would have to be Hey, You Pikachu! though. I ruined a couple copies of it playing it that much until my mom couldn't justify buying me another one. (She admitted it started getting difficult / costly to find after a while but wanted to).

This is an old thread, but I liked the Johto and Hoenn games the most probably. They came out before 3D made the graphics hard to look at for awhile. Adding night time and dark pokemon was very exciting, and I loved being able to challenge Kanto again in the same game. Hoenn had great weather conditions and creative towns. Pacifidlog Town was creative, and there was another composed of tree houses. We haven't seen towns that cool ever since.
