The dust storm just seemed to get more and more unbearable as time passed. Faith was sure that leaving the dust storm behind and continuing on to Violet City was the best decision. Each time her Pokemon were out in that storm, they suffered and there was nothing Faith could do to help them out. Still, she was worried about exploring the new area before training some more. Unfortunately, her options were small since that dust storm appeared out of nowhere. She thought back to the kind man she had met earlier, and hoped he had decided to leave for a while too. It was best to leave while such a storm was going on, and go back there later if anything else was needed.
Like the night before, Faith had slept on the streets in Cherrygrove City. While she had bought the camping supplies, she wasn't so sure that she could set it up with the storm ongoing. Besides, it would only be one more night so long as Violet City was dust storm free. In Violet City, she could set up camp right outside and she figured everything would be better from there. The only problem was that Violet City was further than she would have liked. The dust storm didn't make things any easier, and the quick breakfast she'd had wasn't going to hold for very long. Eventually, she had stopped to take a break to eat lunch. Storm was out of her Pokeball by then and doing her very best to keep the dust from Faith.
Truth be told, Storm was very happy. She had wings now! She felt like she could finally be more useful, and would no longer be looked down upon as a mere bug. Well, sure, she was still a Bug Pokemon but there was a big difference between a Scatterbug and her! Besides, like this she knew that she would make her first trainer very happy! It's what the boy had wanted, even though Scatterbug had first struggled with it. Now, she understood a little bit more and figured it was all due to her quick growth. She was no longer a tiny bug: she now had wings. That would make all the difference in the world. Even if she still didn't enjoy battles, she did like being useful. All she ever wanted to do was help and do whatever it is she could do. Now she was far more versatile and no longer felt so limited.
When Faith and the rest of the Pokemon were done eating lunch, Storm would flutter around them eagerly. She wanted to depart, and for once she was feeling a little braver. While she still didn't like going anywhere near that Charmander's flame, she felt more comfortable around the fire lizard. At least, it was her fire lizard companion! Maybe she would keep the other fire breathers at bay and far away from her!
One by one, Faith withdrew her Pokemon. She didn't like to keep them outside of their Pokeballs long. At least, not in this weather! It was enough that she would have to suffer through it. It was nearly night before she saw the city. By now, the storm was behind her. It was replaced with an intense heat that made her very uncomfortable. She took off the makeshift scarf, and summoned her Pokemon and took theirs off as well. Her Charmander seemed somewhat pleased with the environment and protested when Faith went to recall the rest of them. Her other Pokemon, especially Storm and the new Hoppip, looked relieved to get inside their Pokeballs.
Faith allowed the Charmander to follow behind her, as she continued on to Violet City. She stopped when she was close enough to the city, and set up camp. While she would still stop by Violet for the Pokemon Center, she would first set up her tent. That way it wouldn't be too dark to set up when she got back. After setting up camp, she made her way into the city. After getting lost a couple of times, she was kindly guided to the Poke Center where she had her Pokemon healed up and well rested. After thanking the nurses, she left and made her way back to the camp. After a quick dinner, she withdrew all of her Pokemon - even the protesting Charmander - and settled down for the night. She hugged the new egg close to her, and felt a little guilty. What if the mother missed the egg?
Thankfully, she had been so exhausted that even the fleeting guilt couldn't stop her from falling asleep. She would awaken due to the sound of all the Pidgeys. She rubbed her eyes, then put the egg back in her backpack. After a good breakfast, she repacked her camping supplies and went to Route 32. There she planned to train her Pokemon up before taking on her very first Gym battle.
((It's morning. Also 400 words added to egg.))
