ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
Zaiden’s phone vibrated in the pockets of his dark denim jeans. The young trainer fished the cellular device out of his pocket, swiped his finger across the screen, and entered his security code. The black screen bore the image of his mother hugging up to his father during their trip to the Hoenn region, and his father holding some small souvenirs in his hands. Underneath the image was the word, ‘Mom’. Silence consumed his side of the line, but if you were close enough you could hear the sweetest sounding woman on the other end. Her voice dripped of happiness and warmth, like molasses dripping out of the end of a bottle. The mousy-brown haired lad nodded along slowly as she chattered away.
Zaiden stuffed one hand idly into his pants pockets and paced about nervously. “Oh. Uh huh…ok.” He gulped on the thin air. She explained how they were now working with a different lawyer. His father’s old shop sight wasn’t quite the same, and his father and his mother were considering a new location when they opened back up. She had found a Pokemon egg and had purchased an interesting purple egg, but his mother didn’t think she was able to care for them appropriately. “Oh. Uh…yeah. Sure, mom. I’ll take them.” He agreed. She didn’t really ask though, she just told him to expect them on the wings of a Corviknight.
After he hung up with his mother, a large and pretty scary black steel winged bird circled overhead. Zaiden shielded his eyes as he craned his head to watch the bird fly down and land gently on the ground with a loud and bosterious ‘Cawww’! Inside were two packages carefully wrapped and bundled up, which Zaiden would then carefully unwrap. Each pack held an egg, placed delicately on soft materials with the inside of their packages lined to keep them safe. The messy-haired lad carefully plucked each from their holding and fixed them just so, so that one the purple one would rest in his bag while he toted the smaller, black egg. “I wonder what you’ll become….” He murmured thoughtfully.
The lad would then dash into the Pokemon Center in the city, deposit Baunsu and Shiwa into the system, and dash back out. The fourteen-year-old messy haired lad would then walk over to Falkner’s GYM, nervously trying to convince himself that he was ready to take on the GYM leader. His flame-tailed companion toddled after him, holding onto his pants most of the way and chattering on about random things – from happy sounds to annoyed sounds that Zaiden mostly overlooked.
When Zaiden finally arrived at Falkner’s GYM, he stood in front of it and reread the sign a couple of times. It looked more like a tower for worship to Zaiden then it did a GYM. He tilted his head sideways for only a second, confusing himself and second-guessing himself, before shrugging his shoulders and pulling open the door. The usually quiet lad shuffled in just past the front door and coughed nervously. “H-hello?” He greeted. Now his anxiety seemed to kick into overdrive, and a sensation of adrenaline shot to the epidermis of his skin. He rubbed his arms nervously, frozen at the edge of the door.
The GYM Leader here….did I read that he was a flying type user? Does that mean I’ll see another Hageshii…or maybe even a Taillow this time? He pondered quietly, not knowing what to expect. Being my luck, it’ll just be Pidgey. Uhh, I hope that Pidgey I caught is doing better with its new owner… Kogasu had followed him around quietly, clinging onto the edge of his darks, and seemed concerned and nervous as well. “Here for a Pokemon Battle. I’m…Zaiden.”
OOC: Putting Baunsu and Shiwa in the PC. Pulling out the Murkrow egg and the Purple mystery egg and placing them in my bag [Finally]. Challenging the GYM Leader to a GYM Battle. Also word count is 631. With a max cap of 600 divided between 2 eggs, self-updating 300 to each egg. ^^

Falkner had been near the back of his gym feeding his two Pokemon and hadn't noticed Zaiden enter his gym at least not until he heard him speak. " Ah hello Zaiden, welcome to my gym. I am sorry I did not hear you come in. My bird Pokemon can be a bit on the noisy side when it is time to feed them." He said as the smaller of his two Pokemon quickly pecked all of it's food down in hopes it would be used first in the battle against Zaiden. " I accept your challenge and it looks like you came at just the right time as my Pidgey already finished it's meal that quickly."Falkner knew Pidgey might not look that special to a trainer as they were so common but he had trained his to make it quite a worthy Pokemon. " I know it might seem like an obvious choice for me to use a Pidgey but I don't think you will be too disappointed once you see how proper training can make them a decent Pokemon despite being so common." Pidgey was used to trainers underestimating it and it was hoping to prove how strong it was as it stared at Zaiden with the eyes of a warrior. For a Pidgey the stare would be quite intimidating to most trainers and Pidgey had won a few battles from that very stare alone before. " I am quite curious to see what Pokemon you will send out first. Most trainers try and use a rock or electric type against me as their type advantage is hard to resist but a few do surprise me with a creative strategy and I wonder how you will try and defeat me?" He pondered as Pidgey waited anxiously for it's chance to battle. Falkner may have been a younger gym leader but he was going to do his best to try and defeat Zaiden no matter what he tried to throw at him. " Pidgey be ready for anything. You know as well as I do how varied our challengers can be and we cannot afford to let our guard down." He said to pump the bird Pokemon up knowing that it could use any encouragement it could get before what would surely be a tough battle. Falkner accepts Zaiden's challenge. He sends out Pidgey (Level 10) Please select a Pokemon.

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The GYM Leader apologized, and Zaiden waved it off in a sort of ‘no problem’ gesture. He shrugged his shoulders along with the gesture, waiting for the right moment to speak up, but instead losing the moment due to his own normal silence and inner thoughts. Falkner gestured over to the small brown bird that gobbled up the bits of bird seeds in its dish. Zaiden’s face dropped with what could only be described as a mixed anguish of guilt and horror. To the untrained eye, it could have been mistake as fear of the bird, but it wasn’t. This small, dull brown feathered avian, only caused the young lad’s mind to race back to that faithful day when he faced off – and caught – his own Pidgey.
But should he choose his Hageshii or maybe Kogasu? Kogasu’s tail burned brighter. She began to hop about excitedly. The scaly orange lizard kicked her feet and waved her arms wildly in enthusiasm and she would immediately try to run towards her opponent already super eager to prove herself. However, Zaiden immediately placed the black Murkrow egg on the ground, along with his backpack. With several large strides of his feet, Zaiden would quickly cover the ground and ‘pluck up’ his Pokemon before she had the chance to jump out and start the battle off on the wrong foot. “She’s excited.” He half explained and half apologized, placing her down decide his bag and waving his finger in her face warningly. “Wait.” He warned the flame-tailed lizard. What was he going to do with her?
Zaiden turned back around to face Falkner as he rattled off different tactics that others in the past had used. Honestly, Zaiden’s mind was racing back to his water-loving pinniped who needed the boost the most. I send him out first, and it’s taken the longest time. This time, I’ll switch it up just a bit… He hummed amusingly. The mousy-brown haired lad bent over and stuck his hands inside of his backpack and began shuffling through all of his belongings. Eventually, he would pull out a small red-and-white Pokeball. With a press of a button, the beige teenager would summon out an eerie glowing white ghostly Pokemon with a long single horn in the center of its head. Two large, creepy eyes darted back and forth until Gen’ie finally landed on the bird Pokemon and the Shuppet bounced up and down as it floated in the air.
“Shhuppettt Shuuupp! Shhupp shuupp peettt!” Gen’ie’s words oozed and whispered eerily. Shuppet had the perfect attack, and Zaiden planned to use it to his advantage. “Gen’ie. Screech.” Short, simple, and too the point. But what about the word soup that the blue haired lad had spewed out earlier? Zaiden thought about that and admitted that an electric type Pokemon would have been a great opponent against Falkner if he specialized in bird Pokemon. The young teenager always wanted the lightning fast electric zebra on his team, but he had only seen them in pictures in the magazines his parents read back home. Oh, could he ever get so lucky to eventually own one himself? He could only hope! Maybe one day…
Gen’ie nodded his head, though it looked more like he nodded his whole body in a weird sort of half spin. Gen’ie began to yell as loud as he possibly could and formed a bright red sphere in the center of his wide open mouth. Large shock waves would echo from his high-pitched screams as he Screeched at the top of his lungs. “I uh…traded a Pidgey…” Zaiden would finally come clean. Although he didn’t quite spill the beans, opening up about what he had done felt like a huge weight as been lifted off his chest.
OOC: Gen'ie is sent out and uses Screech. Word Count is 635. 600 divided among two eggs -> 300 words added to Murkrow Egg and 300 words added to mystery Purple Egg. Self-Updated.

Zaiden was one of the quiet ones Falkner quickly realized, not that it was the first time he had been up against silent trainers but the question was what the reason for it was. Some tried to seem cool and aloof while others got so nervous they lost their tongue, Falkner couldn't quite yet guess what kind Zaiden was. He smiled as the challenger hurried in to pick up his charmander, "I see, nothing wrong with that," he commented. Pidgey had been just that but plenty of battles had given it the confidence it needed to stay calm and wait for his word. There had been a few embarrassing hiccups in the beginning, and it had been worse since he was supposed to be a gym leader and not someone the trainers could just sweep away easily. Falkner waited patiently while Zaiden got control over his charmander again, it was good to see how he worked calmly but didn't let them pull him around by the nose. As Zaiden began to hum Falkner tilted his head curiously and his pidgey glanced back confused at him. While Falkner had seen a lot of different things come to challenge him in the gym, this was a new one and his eyes widened in surprise. Since Zaiden hadn't seem like he was in a hurry Falkner took the liberty to learn a bit about it. "What is that? It looks a bit like a shuppet?" Falkner called out curiously as he studied the ghost, it clearly was a ghost which meant Tackle would be ineffective. Not that it would be a problem. "Starting out tricky? We can do that as well," Falkner said with a wry smile, "Pidgey, Sand Attack!" He ordered confidently and the pidgey tensed to get moving but then the screeching reached it and it squawked in pain. It had been unpleasant but it wasn't enough to slow it down, to dived to the ground and with a few strong flaps sand rained down upon Gen'ie and somehow still got stuck in the ghost's eyes. Falkner looked over at Zaiden when he suddnely spoke up again talking about a pidgey. "Yes?" He would ask wondering why it sounded like the boy was half apologizing, people traded pokemon everyday, mostly because they didn't fit with it and wanted to find both it and themselves a better match. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
Kogasu sat down beside Zaiden’s bag. She crossed her arms over her chest and huffed angrily as she watched her trainer summon another Pokemon in her place. The appearance of ghostly white Shuppet caused the flame-tailed lizard to growl and roar indignantly from the sidelines. “Charmander! Char char mander char! Char mander? Char!” She demanded to know why she wasn’t good enough to face off in a GYM battle. What made that mean-spirited ghost Pokemon such a better choice?! Could he shoot flames out of his mouth like she could? This was completely unfair!
Zaiden tilted his head at the blue-haired GYM Leader’s questions. Falkner was spot on in his assessment but seemed to be unsure of his choice. Did Gen’ie look all that different? Zaiden supposed he was no more different to the other Shuppet than Hageshii was to the other Spearow, but he really didn’t know just how special Gen’ie truly was. The white horned glowing ghost floated up and down in the air teasingly, trying to float around the bird and disappear and reappear in the air. The Pidgey’ sand-attack flung up and caught Gen’ie in his large eyes. It caused the Pokemon to cry out angrily. “Shhuuuu! Shuuu peet! Zaiden tried to recall where he had first met Gen’ie, but he couldn’t quite place his finger on it. It was almost as though he’d found the ball mysteriously in his bag one day. Did that mean Gen’ie had chosen him? “Yep.” He responded to Falkner’s question, after some considerable time thinking about it. “Just oddly colored.”
Kogasu had eventually given up on getting her trainer’s full and undivided attention. She scooted over closer to his bag and pulled open the zipper so that she could rummage through Zaiden’s stuff. Kogasu’s bright blue eyes widened when she stumbled across all the different types of treats and energy bars that the young lad had carefully packed away. She would pull on out, rip off the wrapper, and immediately stuff it into her mouth. "Gen’ie, Night Shade.” Zaiden ordered, oblivious to the mischievous nature of his starter Pokemon right behind his back. Gen’ie laughed, shaking his head back and forth dramatically. Zaiden waved his hands and used them to highlight the Pidgey that Gen’ie was supposed to be fighting, unaware that the Shuppet was laughing at Kogasu.
Gen’ie reluctantly turned to focus on the match as his eyes began to glow a bright and eerie, translucent red. The strange red glow crawled up the Shuppet’s horn and gathered at tip. At first, a small and strange ghostly ball of dark energy began to form. It would steadily grow larger and more powerful, before Gen’ie would fire the ball of dark energy at his opponent. He really wanted to go over there and play tricks on Kogasu, and had to hope that he didn’t need to play nice for too long. After all, the other Pokemon was allowed to get into mischief, so why couldn’t he?!
Falkner’s question and his Pokemon caused Zaiden to think about the Pidgey that got away. Sometimes, Zaiden chided himself silently and thought that it would have been better to leave the Pidgey alone. “I think it was trying to eat my Wurmple.” He stated, still unsure why the Pidgey had challenged him in the first place. The more that the young lad had thought about it, the more confused he became. “But I got a nice Natu out of it!” He added with a bright smile. Zaiden reminded himself that he needed to focus on the match though. If I get too distracted, they’ll have the upper hand!
OOC: Gen'ie uses Night Shade. Word Count is 612. 600 divided between 2 eggs, 300 added to Murkrow and 300 added to mystery Purple egg. Self-updated.

As Zaiden mentioned his Shuppet was just oddly colored things started to click for Falkner. Gen'ie was certainly an odd looking Shuppet to say the least and he was still stunned to see one being used against him as they were very rare in most parts of Johto. There was one thing he was glad about however and that was Zaiden making the mistake of using a ghost type move against his Pidgey. " As nice as it is to see a trainer use such a rare Pokemon I have a bit of bad news for you. Pidgey is immune to ghost type attacks as it is part normal type." He said as Pidgey stood by waiting for the Night Shade to hit. As Falkner had claimed Pidgey was entirely unharmed by the attack and now with what was essentially a free turn Falkner decided to use a damaging move of his own. " Pidgey use your Gust attack. It is not the best case scenario for such a move but at least Shuppet are not immune to flying type attacks." Pidgey then summoned up a small gust filled with various debris and sent it towards Gen'ie. The attack was not the strongest by any means but it still caused visible damage to the bleached Shuppet. By now Falkner had turned his attention back to Zaiden as he continued to speak about a Pidgey he had traded. The end result of getting a Natu out of it certainly impressed Falkner as Natu was a very underappreciated flying type Pokemon. " Ah that is indeed a great trade, I should get a Natu to use here in my gym one of these days as they can be a very useful bird Pokemon." As he then waited to see what Zaiden would try next he hoped his advice involving ghost types not being able to hit normal types would not come back to haunt him later on. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The young teenager ruffled his messy, short mousy-brown hair with his hands idly. The fact that Gen’ie fired off one of the most impressive Night Shade attacks that Zaiden had witnessed yet, only to have it end up being completely useless shocked him. When did he forget to apply type immunities into his matches? This was completely his fault for not planning out the play-by-play better. I’ve been running haphazardly into my battles lately, haven’t I? He wondered as he thought about it introspectively. “Right.” He responded as blue-haired GYM Leader with really long bangs informed him of this as well.
The floating white sheet with a round head and large, expressive eyes pointed its horn upwards and growled underneath its breath. Gen’ie narrowed his focus down on the dull brown feathered bird as his lips curled into a deep scowl. It was absolutely unbelievable that this Pidgey had the nerve to stand there and take his attack head on, knowing that it wouldn’t receive any damages! It should have at least faked being hurt a little bit, and show some humility! Gen’ie dived down and disappeared through the floorboards, floating off in his anger. Zaiden’s chocolate brown eyes widened, and he turned his head this way and that, trying to find out where his Pokemon had taken off too.
“Charmander char!” Kogasu mocked both her trainer and Gen’ie between moutfuls of treats as she crammed her face. Zaiden turned around and snapped his fingers at Kogasu, wagging them disapprovingly, before turning back. “Gen’ie!” Gen’ie popped up from the side of the building, trying to pop up beside the Pidgey to spook it with a passive-aggressive ‘Boo’. “Shuppet!” Zaiden sighed in instant relief. How did he apologize for his Pokemon? Hopefully, they didn’t make him look too bad?
Kogasu was huffed, puffing out a small spit of embers. She couldn’t believe that Zaiden hadn’t simply recalled that ugly floating tablecloth and sent her in instead! The teenager pulled at the end of his dark blue T-shirt embroidered with a shiny Charizard nervously. “He’s…a handful. Gen’ie. Use Knock Off.” Zaiden instructed with a snap of his fingers. Although the dull brown-and-cream feathered avian didn’t appear as though he held anything, it was useful to at least check and see. Hopefully, this turns my luck around…
Gen’ie tilted his head before nodding as though his understood. Gen’ie shrugged and moved in close as his horn started to glow. He planned to use his horn as a means to slap his foe, by swinging the side of the horn into the Pidgey and hopefully knock off anything that the bird might be hiding. Was that why his move had missed?! Did this Pidgey secretly hold some sort of artifact that said, ‘All of Gen’ie’s powers are useless! So decree I, mystical artifact!’ Well, he would show this wanna-be extraordinary bird what for by simply slapping this hidden gem right off of it’s hide!
Kogasu lifted the bag up and dumped everything out on the ground beside her. The mysterious purple egg rolled across the GYM floorboards but came to a halt not too far away. Kogasu squeaked out worriedly, jumped up, and ran over to the egg. The bright orange lizard used both of her hands to gently push the large purple egg so that she could roll it back over and place it next to the bag. That was a close one! Whatever that thing had hidden inside of it, she was sure that her trainer would have been upset if he had lost it! Back to rummaging for food again…
OOC: Gen'ie uses Knock Off. Word count 606. 300 to Purple Egg, and 300 to Murkrow egg, self-updated.

As the next round was about to begin Falkner had an internal debate about how he should handle this next round. He knew Gust could do some damage but a second Sand Attack might help avoid incoming damage and as Pidgey was not the most durable Pokemon it was tempting to go with both choices. He did not know what other moves Gen'ie knew but if it knew a move that could hit normal times he might be in trouble and sure enough as Zaiden gave the Shuppet the order to attack again Falkner's suspicions were confirmed. " Ah using a dark type move with a ghost type, that is pretty clever. Pidgey is not immune to dark type moves unfortunately so I just have to hope my previous Sand Attack pays off this time instead." Though the Sand Attack did reduce the Shuppet's accuracy it was not enough this round as Gen'ie floated towards Pidgey and slammed into the Pidgey in a downwards motion to get rid of any held item it may have. In this case Pidgey did not have an item but it was still quite a painful attack as Pidgey started to show signs of weakneing. " Shoot it seems that first Sand Attack was not enough. I have to say that was a smart move there and a nice comeback from the mistake you made previously. Even so I am just getting started, Pidgey use Sand Attack again." The Pidgey then hopped towards Gen'ie as he stopped to rest after his previous attack. Pidgey started to kick up some sand from the gym floor aiming at his eyes to reduce his vision even further. One of the kicks led to a direct hit as Gen'ie could hardly keep his eyes open with all of the sand. He did avoid any damage this round however and he was still faster than the bird. As the round came to a close Falkner saw an egg fall out of the backpack along with a few other items and was a bit worried for the egg knowing how sensitive they could be. " I hope your egg is ok, that was a pretty close call there." He said nervously as he waited for Zaiden to choose his next move. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The glowing white Shuppet seemed to dance on the air itself as he floated all about cheerfully. He would spin around and do loops in the air as he celebrated his victory early on. Whatever the floating haunted cloth might have thought that the brown feathered avian was holding previously had been dispelled. So, this normal and flying type bird didn’t actually hold anything at all? “Shup! Shuppet!” It confronted the Pidgey, with a resounding puff of air and sigh of relief. Gen’ie needed to know just how the feathered creature had managed to miss its first move so swiftly, obviously still upset, and indignant about it.
Zaiden released his breath with a sigh of relief. He hadn’t even realized that he was holding his breath as he watched Gen’ie go forward and land his attack swiftly on his opponent. Thankfully, that planned had paid off well for him. Although, as Zaiden watched on the edge of his metaphorical seat, he noticed that if he had been just a few calculations off, then Gen’ie might have easily cleaned the floor of his opponent. “It paid off. Usually good to have them know different moves.” He commented and turned around to retrieve Gen’ie Pokeball. Zaiden’s face completely dropped, however, when he witnessed what happened with the flame-tailed lizard and his backpack.
Zaiden marched over and snatched up the backpack. He began to stuff all his belongings haphazardly into the codura bag, before zipping it up and placing it back on his back. He shook his head with both of his hands placed firmly on his hips. What was he going to do with Kogasu? He clearly couldn’t leave her alone for very long. Perhaps, this was his fault. He was her trainer, after all. He needed to be more aware of what his Pokemon were doing. “No Kogasu. No.” He raised one hand out in front of the orange lizard and shook his finger in her face. He would pull out another Pokeball and toss it into the air with a click of a button. “Gen’ie, return. Go, Uroko. Use Headbutt.” He ordered.
The floating white cloth floated over to Kogasu. Gen’ie was laughing hysterically as Kogasu placed her hands on her hips, mimicking her trainer just previously before, and growled at the other Pokemon. They both began chattering away, with Kogasu jumping after Gen’ie, who would fade in and out of view, floating just in and out of reach at the right times. Zaiden shrugged, scratching his head, and turned back to his match. He would have to work with them later! How did other trainers manage to keep their Pokemon under perfect control magically during important GYM battles? Or was it that they simply kept them locked away in their Pokeballs unless they’re summoned out for a fight? That was probably something he should consider doing, he just didn’t like doing that too often. Oh, decisions, decisions….
The furry white Seel rocked back and forth and gurgled cute, soft syllables as it spoke and chattered about nonsense. The pinniped seemed excited and happy to be apart of the battle. Now was Uroko’s time to shine and take the spotlight! He tested the ground a bit webbed flippers. Uroko would start to charge forward with his head lowered down, preparing to ram into the bird with its short, pointy horn. The white marine mammal would do his best to impress his trainer! Hopefully this flighty feathered fiend wouldn’t be nearly as intimidating as the cocoon he had to face previously before!
Zaiden sighed happily in relief as he checked over the purple egg and nodded firmly in Falkner’s direction. “It’s ok. Wonder what it’ll be…” He chimed in, daydreaming of all the possibilities. Maybe he would get lucky and it would be a Pokemon he had never seen or heard of before! Hopefully?
OOC: Switching Gen'ie for Uroko. Then Uroko is using Headbutt. Word Count: 648. 300 to Murkrow egg and Purple Egg. Self-updated.

With Pidgey in very rough shape Falkner thought for sure that Zaiden would take the risk of missing his next attack for a.chance to knock Pidgey out. He knew Pidgey would not endure another hit from Gen'ie and he was prepared to send out his next Pokemon to replace Pidgey. As he wait.for what would certainly.be the finishing blow he was kind of stunned to see Zaiden switch Pokemon after.trying to discipline his Charmander. Not that Falkner could complain as it meant he would get a.free turn out of it and Pidgey needed any small hope it could get. "I'm sure you know the rule about switching Pokemon in battle? It is allowed but your opponent gets a free turn out of the switch and a free turn to do some damage is always welcome. Sand Attack cannot save me forever so Gust will have to do." He said as Pidgey summoned another Gust attack scoring a direct hit on poor Uroko after he switchee in. The Seel was able to.endure the attack but unlike Gen'ie he was far less effective at defending himself. Falkner knew another round was going to start as Zaiden callout out Uroko's first move and he responded in kind. " Alright Pidgey try and get off one more Gust before you get knocked out. I have faith you will do quite a bit of damage to our new foe before he can bring you down. " Pidgey yet again summoned a powerful Gust scoring a second direct hit on the young Seel.but it was.still not enough to knock Uroko out as he slid forward and delivered a powerful Headbutt knocking Pidgey out. Falkner then recalled the bird Pokemon before the second Pokemon who had still been feating came forward ready for a battle now that it was full. " I doubt my second Pokemon being a Pidgeotto will. surprise you very much but it is the stronger of.my.two Pokemon. It has a better.move pool as well so.I warn you not to underestimate it just because you defeated my Pidgey. " He said as he waited to see if Zaiden would stick with the same Pokemon. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
Zaiden clenched his teeth and held his breath as Pidgey flew in for the attack. The small bird was strong and fast, and managed to whip up a powerful gust that ripped into Uroko’s defenses. The baby pinniped cried out loudly, a long and sorrowful sound that made Zaiden almost regret bringing him out onto the battlefield. You just need to endure a little longer… Zaiden thought, wincing as the second round of sharp winds cut through Uroko’s defenses more. Although he was weakened and tired, it wasn’t enough to take his baby Seel out. A small smile crept across the beige teenager’s face and erupted into a full-brown ear-to-ear grin as Uroko managed to take the Pidgey out with one strong Headbutt. That paid off. That should, hopefully, give Uroko the experience he needed.
“It’s a worthwhile risk.” Zaiden finally replied to Falkner. No doubt, the experience GYM Leader would want to make the best use of his free move. Who wouldn’t? When the opponent is already weakened, but then switches for a healthier Pokemon, it was always advantageous to try and knock their health down some. Zaiden knew that he needed to be careful about his strategy, however, as Falkner could have nearly anything hidden up his sleeve. Now the hardest decision had to be made. Who should face Falkner’s next Pokemon?
Uroko danced in an awkward waddling motion back and forth. The young sealion rushed over to Zaiden and jumped up at the boy. Uroko would clap his finned feet together several times as he praised his own work. He hadn’t imagined he would ever be strong enough to knock his opponent out entirely! Although Uroko hadn’t yet realized that one of the other teammates helped in the battle, he was just as excited to realize that he could steal the spotlight and the entire show. As Falkner called out another Pokemon, the furry whit marine mammal turned back around to race back to center stage. The mousy-brown haired lad leaned down, however, and yanked the Seel up into his arms. Uroko turned to him and tilted its head questioningly. Zaiden shook his head, conveying that he wasn’t going to ask the baby Seel to battle in another round. Zaiden would stroke the top of Uroko’s head gently, making sure to be careful of the Seel’s impressive horn that jutted out from the center.
Zaiden glanced over to the flame-tailed lizard nervously. Kogasu really wanted to take part in the battle, but he hadn’t allowed her up until now. Should he risk allowing her to hop into the battle, and then allowing Hageshii a shot after? He considered them both evenly matched in terms of skill and comradery. As if sensing his trainer’s indecision, Kogasu jumped up and rushed towards Zaiden. She would hop up and down, shaking her scaly arms at Zaiden in a sort of ‘pick me’ impression. “Not yet.” Zaiden promised, reaching down and gently petting the top of Kogasu’s head. “But soon.” Kogasu slunk down on her rear and crossed her arms and an angry pout. She definitely didn’t agree with this boy’s strategy! Since when was he even that good a planning, anyways?!
Zaiden pulled out another Pokeball from his bag after shuffling through his supplies and released the shiny Spearow with a click of a button. Hageshii stretched his wings out wide, as though he hadn’t been released out to fly for ages! Immediately, the golden feathered Spearow soared over to the large and impressive Pidgeotto as its beak would begin to glow a bright, shimmering color. “Hageshii, Fury Attack.” Hageshii was already used of picking his own moves most of the time, so the brave bird moved in thankfully mirroring the same move Zaiden had called out. Zaiden had to hope that Hageshii could at least get in a decent hit or two with this strategy. “I haven’t actually used my Natu yet.” Zaiden spoke, replying to Falkner’s comment.
OOC: Hageshii is summoned out and uses Fury Attack.

Falkner kept his expression carefully blank as Uroko celebrated his win, it was nice to see trainers and their pokemon being close but his own pokemon didn't like him showing it and especially his pidgeotto got furious when it happened. It certainly has paid off this time, Falkner commented with a smile as Pidgeotto strolled forward proudly, it eyed the water seel and looked displeased with his behavior. It had too often been beaten and mocked for losing easily that it had gotten a bit sensitive about it, it was the strongest around here and it had a hard time upholding the respect it felt it deserved from its fellow birds. Both Falkner and Pidgeotto waited patiently as Zaiden pulled Uroko back, eager to see who was going to be their next opponent, and give as good challenge as possible. "What gorgeous spearow!" Falkner exclaimed excited and stared awed as the golden bird, "and shiny nonetheless, what a rare sight."Pidgeotto's feathers rose and it glared jealous at Hageshii, coming here to the gym and not only challenging it for a battle but also for all the attention, Pidgeotto felt that it kept getting forgotten and brushed aside as a boring normal pokemon that was easily beaten. It clattered with its beat annoyed and Falkner grinned. "Of course, looks it not all, let us see if your bird actually knows how to fly. Pidgeotto, show it how its done! Gust!" Falkner shouted and Hageshii had to change direction as his opponent was faster didn't stay put and giving him an easy target. Pidgeotto flapped up a strong gust straight at the spearow and forced him to fight against the wind to reach the other bird and furiously stab at it with beak and claws before he had to let the wind carry him back to get a quick rest. Pidgeotto watched him coldly but didn't said anything. Falkner glanced at Zaiden when he returned to the topic of the natu and he smiled wryly. "I'm sure you won't get disappointed when you get around to try it out," he said with a wink and then returned his attention to the two fighting birds. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The golden feathered tiny bird appreciated being released from his Pokeball. Hageshii was hands on with his team, and often found that they needed his help most of the time. The brave bird soared up into the air, ready and willing to take command of the battlefield, only to be knocked back right off the bat by the larger brown feathered bird with red crest feathers and bright red and yellow tail feathers. Hageshii puffed up and his feathers stood on ends to the point that the tiny bird had to give a good shake of his whole body and right himself back out. But thankfully, his Fury Attack managed to get in three decent strikes on the other bird.
Zaiden nodded. A gently smile played on the edge of the mousy-brown haired lad’s face as he rubbed the back of his neck and slowly nodded. He supposed that Hageshii was pretty special. It felt nice to hear someone else admit how special Hageshii was, since Zaiden really appreciated his Pokémon. He watched as the two birds chased after each other and mentally noted that Falkner’s evolved Pidgeotto was faster than Hageshii. Hageshii’s attack landed and the repetitive hits managed to pull the brown feathered bird’s health down, but Zaiden wasn’t quite sure whose attack had done the most damage just yet. Just to be safe, though, it would be best to ask Hageshii to repeat the attack once more. “Hageshii, Fury Attack.” He commanded with a swift nod of his head.
Hageshii craned its head back as it used its wings to stay airborne. “Spear Row!” A proud proclamation of how it would take command of the battle with little to no trouble. The golden feathered avian declared his victory prematurely as more of a promise for all of his comrades. “Spearow Speearrr!” Hageshii shrilled, vowing not to allow any harm fall on his fellow team members. Hageshii was nothing if he was not brave, and he often took every battle way too seriously. Hageshii began flapping his wings as fast as he could, beating it so fast that it almost sounded like a heartbeat. Then, he would soar on the winds to chase after the Pidgeotto once more. Hageshii would lash out with his sharp talons and sharp beak hoping to make contact with Falkner’s Pokémon once more.
“Bird Pokémon can be strong.” A simple comment and more of a reflection of his own team member. Zaiden never considered adding a feathered avian on his team when he had first started out on his journey to be a Pokémon champion. He rode on the back of his father’s Charizard as a young boy, so he loved seeing the world from up high in the sky. But since Charizard was capable of learning Fly through the Hidden Technique 02, Zaiden normally considered a Charmander as his only necessary companion. He watched Hageshii command the airways and smiled with an appreciative nod. Now, he couldn’t picture not having his special Spearow on his team.
But what made Falkner love bird Pokémon so much? Did he just love birds in general, or did he hold a special place in his heart for all flying type Pokémon? “Why flying types?” Zaiden pondered aloud simply. The young teenager couldn’t help but ask Falkner what made flying types so special to the GYM Leader. Wasn’t it better to diversify your team so that you could more easily protect yourself from possible weaknesses? Zaiden watched Falkner’s Pidgeotto bravely dueling with his tiny bird and considered the GYM Leader’s first Pokémon: a Pidgey. There had to be more behind it than a simple typing, Zaiden reasoned to himself silently.
OOC: Thank you Tarlar! I totally forgot. Hageshii is using Fury Attack. Also adding 300 to each egg (Word Count: 618). Also added in a code for Zaiden's badges on his Bag thread. ^^'

As another round was about to begin Falkner tried to come up with a way to try and counter Hageshii's Fury Attack as it could spell a lot of trouble if the Spearow got lucky. As he could not lower the flying types accuracy and he did not want to unleash his Pidgeotto's signature move yet Gust remained the only worthwhile option though it would not do anything to stop Fury Attack. Pidgeotto being a little bit faster did help in one way as if it could knock out Spearow before it could attack Fury Attack would not be an issue. He knew how powerful flying types could be and Hageshii causing as much damage as he did with Fury Attack was not too surprising to Falkner. " Bird Pokemon can indeed be quite strong, it is one of the reasons I have been fascinated with them for most of my life. Most are rather weak at first but they are well worth the effort to raise with how powerful they can become. I also love how many of them can learn a wide range of moves to help cover their weaknesses." He said to answer Zaiden's question before selecting a move of his own. " Pidgeotto use Gust." Pidgeotto then summoned another Gust attack scoring a direct hit on Hageshii before he could launch his own attack. Though the Gust had stopped him for a moment Hageshii was ultimately able to score three direct hits with Fury Attack. " That Fury Attack sure can rack up damage over time. It is not as powerful per hit as Gust however and it seems my Pidgeotto has gained the upper hand now. Your Hageshii has fought well but I don't think it can match the power of my Pidgeotto quite yet." He said as Pidgeotto landed in a patch of dirt and started to kick it around. It was pumped for such an exciting battle and wanted to show no mercy with another strike. As tough as it had tried to act however Pidgeotto was starting to weaken and deep down Falkner knew he would have to pull out it's signature move soon or risk losing this battle from a lucky hit. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The small sparrow landed on the ground. The golden feathered bird twitched and stretched out his wings. He turned his head around and began to peck and prod at his feathers as he preened himself. The battle was growing long in a short amount of time. Hageshii pulled in thick puffs of air and shoved them back out in rapid succession. His body was stressed out and tired – ran to near complete exhaustion from the two previous rounds. He chirped soft syllables, as if to keep encouraging himself to push forward.
Zaiden frowned. The young lad placed one of his hands delicately to his chin and gently scratched. The teenage trainer was lost in thought. Zaiden weighed the best scenario against the worst scenario with each decision. Should he go ahead and send out Kogasu, and allow her to battle? Did Falkner have more maneuvers hidden up his sleeve? Would it be unwise not to save Kogasu as the ‘last man standing’, should the need arise?
Uroko was already worn out from his previous battle, but he had also managed to gain some impressive experience from his battle with the dull brown Pidgey. The furry white pinniped might last one decent round with the larger and much more powerful Pidgeotto, but Zaiden also risked the opposite being true. What if Uroko couldn’t hold his own, even for one decent round? Then there was Gen’ie, whose energy wasn’t fairing too badly through his last battle. Hageshii flapped his wings and hopped forward before he used his wings to lift himself back up into the air. Zaiden snapped his fingers and whistled.
Hageshii spun around with a concerned and confused look. The mousy-brown haired lad shook his head. He would keep his chocolate brown eyes glued on the golden feathered variant as he snapped his fingers and pointed down to his side. It was a returning call. Return back, you’ve fought well enough. Gen’ie would have to stand up against the large brown bird with its bright red crown of feathers on its head. Zaiden would risk sending Kogasu out instead, however. “Kogasu. Your turn.”
The scaly orange lizard jumped up immediately. She began hopping and dancing on her feet. Kogasu would semi-run, semi-dance all the way up to the ‘stage’ as she prepared to battle and fight the large bird. Upon reaching the Pidgeotto, whose height was over a foot taller than the Charmander’s, Kogasu gulped and shrank back. My, this one was much bigger than the first bird! Kogasu’s eyes narrowed down in determination with one small fist balled up. Kogasu stuck her fist up into the air and chattered away. “Charmander char char! Mander char!” A battlecry and a warning that she would do her best to win.
“Use Flame Charge, Kogasu.” Zaiden commanded. Kogasu’s nostrils flared with small puffs of flame. She began to spin around dramatically as she would breathe out hot flames that she used to envelop and cloak herself in. This was her moment to shine! “Charmander char!” A glorious remark on how lovely and dangerous her new attack surely was. Hopefully. She had been practicing all up and down the hillside on the way to the battle. Kogasu would then kick at the ground as she prepared herself. The bright orange flame-tailed lizard would then sprint into a head-long run as she prepared to charge into her opponent.
“Sometimes, true strength comes not from the individual but from the team.” It was a solitary remark. A simple reply to Falkner’s retort that Hageshii wouldn’t have been a true match against his Pidgeotto. Zaiden couldn’t deny Falkner’s claim, but he had faith in the abilities of his entire team – even with two of his usual key players removed.
OOC: Word Count 628. Self-updating 300 to each egg. Hageshii is switched out for Kogasu. Kogasu uses Flame Charge.
