The raticate tumbled off of Yakul and into the snow as Leafeon Headbutted it away. It lay panting in the snow while Leafeon stayed on guard and facing it, ready for retaliation. The raticate dragged itself up on its feet and turned to show its teeth at the leafeon, which it of course was the only thing it could do with them protruding out of its mouth, but to the grass type she thought of it as a threat. Leafeon tensed and then flinched when something leafy pressed against her, she was surprised to see it was Yakul who had gotten back up on her feet and now had joined her to face the scary looking raticate, shoulder to shoulder with Leafeon. The raticate shot them a glance and then backed off, turning to run away as soon as it felt it was at a safe distance.
Astrid smiled as she watched Leafeon raise her head and tail confidently, and see her look grateful at Yakul, who snorted when the danger was over, headbutted Leafeon affectionately and then turned to return to Astrid. Leafeon looked a bit puzzled. "I hope you have thought of what to say to Leafeon, since now is the time to explain yourself," Astrid said sternly as she let Hector help her up from the snow. He looked nervous and Leafeon's tail drooped again and she looked dismissive. "You did great Leafeon, did it work like it should? You can control your body?" Astrid asked warmly and Leafeon's tail rose a bit again, she nodded. Yes, she could fight in this body and protect herself, she could do the same as before and would not let this hold her back. She looked at Hector who squirmed under her hard stare and fumbled for words.
"I.. I'm.. I'm sorry Leafeon. I really am! I.. I just really wanted you to be something else, which you of course also did, but I didn't think of you or what you wanted. I'm sorry. I.. I would feel so bad if I had evolved you into something else which you didn't want to be either and I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have said what I did, but I was not thinking straight and I didn't mean any of it, really!" Hector rambled with tears gathering in the corners of his eyes. Leafeon just watched with the same expression as before. "It sounds like a bad excuse," Hector trailed of and fought the tears. "You still need to explain why you want to give her away," Astrid added gently from where she had been busy adjusting Yakul's saddlebags and making sure everything was still there. "Oh! I.. I.. I think I thought you'd wanted to get away from me as fast as possible after what I had done, and.. and I honestly don't think I will be a good trainer for you as I will keep thinking how I screwed everything up and being so afraid I'd do it again I wouldn't be able to think straight, you know?" Hector tried to explain. "You think you have ruined your relationship and trust, and it will never be good again?" Astrid asked gently and Hector nodded with quivering lip, unable to talk. Leafeon watched him for a moment before her eyes softened and she gave him a slight nod as acceptance of his explanation. Then she turned her eyes at Hector's raticate and the hard look returned. Hector looked confused at her reaction. "She accepted your apology but you weren't the only one who hurt her, I think," Astrid explained and Hector looked relieved and then confused between Leafeon and Raticate. The raticate lifted its snout and looked apologetically at Leafeon. "We didn't see you as a part of the team, which I do apologize for as it was not alright. We were too used to just be us three and didn't think about our actions before it was too late. I cannot change what has been done and while it probably won't help you now I will promise you that we won't do the same mistake again," Raticate said stoically and Leafeon looked hurt for a moment but then she gave another small nod and turned away. Raticate exhaled and looked regretfully at the grass type.
"We better try get back to the beach, a fog is coming in," Astrid said and recalled her pokemon, and with Leafeon's acceptance she accepted her pokeball and recalled her as well. Then she mounted Yakul and lead the way back towards the beach and the thinner snow and something to follow to the big city.
(ooc: Helen forgets Absorb to learn Night Shade. And agreed with Lorenz, so moving exp. share from Sabien to him Self updated.) [bike ON]
There were many Pokemon out in the distance, scurrying back to their own dens as the fog continued to roll in from the sea. The weather didn't do any onlookers any favors, causing difficulty moving back and forth across the path. Yakul, with keen eyes and a steady pace, was able to continue to surge forward despite the fog but even the steady Pokemon was forced to pause as a strange blue light illuminated the path before them.
Stepping from the fog was a Ponyta, strange flames burning bright despite the thick malaise of fog that seemed to stick around them. It's bright light was useful for smaller Pokemon to cross the paths and make it back to their dens. Upon hearing Yakul and the trainer, Ponyta's ears flicked back and it's head lowered. It would protect this pathway for the other Pokemon to cross from these strange fog interlopers!
Wild Ponyta (Level 20) is a beacon in the fog! Weather: FOG What will you do?
The snowstorm stopped as they trekked back towards the beach, the wind was blowing the snow deeper inland so the closer they got to the beach the thinner the layer of snow. It made the traveling much easier but as the wind died down a fog arrived and made it hard to orientate. Astrid didn't think much about it as the breeze which was left had to come from the sea as before, so as long as they had the wind in the face they were going in the right direction.
"This is scary," Hector suddenly whispered loudly and pulled Astrid out of her thoughts about what to do with the leafeon. "What is?" Astrid asked confused and looked around, not seeing anything else than the white fog. "The fog!"[/i] Hector hissed frantically and Astrid looked back at him surprised. "Why? It's just fog, it's not dangerous," she asked kindly and Hector rubbed his arm nervously. "I know, but who knows what's out there? I read this stort once with a ghost.." Hector trailed off and duck his head. "Why are you afraid of ghosts? You can just catch those," Astrid asked chuckling and Hector glared at her. "Not that kind of ghosts, the other one.." He retorted and scanned their surroundings. "But they can't harm you, a ghost type can," Astrid said reassuringly and Hector looked at her doubtfully, "listen, if the ghost can harm you, you can do something about it, if nothing else your Pidgeotto can blow it away! Come on, call out one of your pokemon and I'll do the same, then you are not alone," Astrid said cheerfully and let out Helen who was content riding on Yakul along with Astrid. Hector still looked doubtfully but let out his weepinbell.
Astrid made sure to keep up the conversation and distract Hector from the fog which surrounded them, and obviously nothing happened. That was until they had almost reached the beach and they crossed a path. "Gnh! What is that?!" Hector whined whispering as some bluish light began dancing around a bit down the path. Astrid narrowed her eyes. "That is a very good question," She admitted and Hector began panicking and rambled about it being a ghost who wanted to drag them into the underworld. Astrid thought he never should have read that book. Helen jumped down from Yakul and crawled forward, ready to intercept whatever it was to keep it from the humans. "There is an easy way to find out though," She said secretively and Hector looked confused at her. She picked up a pokeball from one of the saddlebags. "If it is one of your scary ghosts, then it cannot be sucked into the pokeball!" Astrid said triumphically and threw it at the lights ahead of them. Hector hid behind Astrid and peeked out worried, expecting the "ghost" to be angry of the action and attack. Astrid expected the thing to be a pokemon and then it would disappear into the pokeball, and if it didn't it would make some kind of noise by getting hit and then they would be able to hear what it was.
(ooc: Helen out and using a Quick Ball. If (when) battles ends, I'd like to use the multiplier on Lorenz)
Astrid's aim was true and she smiled when a dumb sound of it hitting something furred, followed by a surprised snort, proved it had hit her target. A red flash and the disappearance of the blue dancing lights only further confirmed it. "It was a pokemon!" Hector exclaimed and Astrid nodded. "I told you so, nothing to be afraid of," she said and waited to see what would pop out and what would be the best course of action in the upcoming battle. Things remained quiet and both Astrid and Hector frowned confused. "What happened?" Hector asked and Astrid could hear the worry enter his voice again. Helen moved forward and disappeared into the fog, and a moment later she appeared dragging a little pokeball after her. She took it all the way up on Yakul to deliver it to the old woman. "Oh! I have caught it!" Astrid exclaimed when she looked closer at the locked but occupied ball, and she realized she by a mistake hadn't taken a normal pokeball but one of the special ones. "What?!" Hector was at her side instantly and stared at the pokeball, and Astrid explained to him how to see that a pokeball was locked and that she couldn't open it to see what was inside until she reached Goldenrod and made room on her team. Hector was understandably disappointed not being able to see what it was they had met, but there was little to be done about it.
They soon made it to the beach where little snow was left, although the heavy fog still hid most of the landscape and made the sea disappear into a mass og grey not far out. Hector still didn't like the fog but he did his best to not let it get the better of him but he stayed close to Astrid. "What's that?" He suddenly asked and pointed at a weird edged rock further ahead, Astrid narrowed her eyes but couldn't see anything. It moved slightly as they got closer and turned out to be pink in color. "It's a pokemon!" Hector said excitedly but then hesitated and glanced at Astrid, "can you.. can you look it up?" He asked and she smiled and pointed her pokedex at the pokemon. "It is called a corsola and is a rock and water type," Astrid said and Hector's grin returned. "Then I can use it on my team! I don't have those types at all!" He exclaimed excitedly, which only grew when Astrid added, "that is strange, it says you can only meet it by fishing and even then it is a rare find." "So its a rare pokemon?! I'm going to catch it!" He said and eagerly let out his weepinbell and was ready to run into battle. "Wait! Look at it, I do not think it feels well, I think you should try help it instead and get it that way instead," Astrid suggested and Hector looked dumbfounded at her. "I can do that?" He said baffled. "Why not? What is keeping you back?" Astrid countered and he look thoughtful, "go ahead and try it out." She watched as he carefully approached the corsola, and then scanned the fog for any clues to what had happened to it.
(ooc: Bike is ON. Corsola is as a npc like Hector and his pokemon, I can of course neither battle it and definitely not catch it either And at the moment I have no idea what it is doing on the beach, hehe. I have moved Ponyta to Lei's box 1 and Helen forgets String Shot to learn Shadow Sneak, self updated)
Corsola wobbled to look around, as it couldn't necessarily look over its own shoulder, to see the approaching trainers. Where there would've been fear or worry for the rare Pokemon there was instead anger and frustration. It's stubby appendage pointed over at another strange looking Corsola that danced on the sands, dancing dangerously close to a tiny den by the shore - the true Corsola's den. Something was inside, something important, and the Pokemon just wanted to get back inside! Corsola huffed angrily, stomping on the ground as the strange pink Corsola blocked it from its home.
Upon further inspection, this dancing Corsola seemed... off. Its eyes were too small, a little too unblinking for the Pokemon itself. In a fit of anger, Corsola threw a little sand at it. While it definitely didn't hurt, the Ditto was shocked enough to drop its facade. The pink blob blinked at Corsola, and then the two trainers, a dopey grin plastered on its face.
Wild Ditto (Level 19) is causing a ruckus! What will you do?
Hector stopped when he spotted the other corsola, it looked different and he glanced back at Astrid. "Do you think it is a shiny?" He asked her and pointed at the most pink corsola, and the old woman frowned and pointed her pokedex at it. The information it gave her didn't please her. "No," she said, "it is a ditto." Hector looked confused as he had no clue what that was, but he got his answer a moment later when the weird eyed corsola turned back into the blob it really was. "Wah! What is that?!" He exclaimed disgusted and Astrid decided she shouldn't mention that she knew the changing pokemon from her work as secretary for the police. Criminals liked to use it, it was good it needed a lot of training to be able to fully use its powers and that they were hard to find. She didn't like the thought of one running around in the wild with the risk of getting caught and used for illegal activities, but the only way to avoid that was to capture it herself. "It can change form, but only with things it comes in contact with. And most of the time you can easily spot them since their color and eyes are off," she explained to Hector and decided not to scare him by letting him know they could be almost impossible to recognize if they were good enough.
"I will handle it, just you focus on the corsola and see if it needs your help," Astrid suggested and nudged Yakul forward but gave the wild pokemon a wide berth. She had to be tactical about this, and with the typing she had on her team, going with Lykke or Helen as first was a no-go. A moment later Lorenz the smeargle looked around, first dismissive but then he lit up when he realized what pretty nature he was in and he tilted his head to look at how the fog melted into the ocean. Oh how he wished he had something to paint on! "Lorenz, I need your help. The pink pokemon over there, the ditto, I will like to capture it but it will not be easy. I will like you to face it off first but I will warn you, it will change into something looking like you," Astrid said and Lorenz, who had looked bored the moment Astrid had begun speaking to him, looked intrigued. He stepped forward and bowed to the ditto. "I am challenging you to a battle," he said formally and painted a wing in the air with his tail, but he waited for a confirmation from the ditto before using it to attack it with.
(ooc: Lorenz starts with Steel Wing. Bike is still ON)
Lorenz didn't get any polite reaction to his bow and challenge, much to his dismay. The ditto just giggled, which made its whole body wobble and it slid over the sand towards him. He took that as an acceptance of his challenge and raised his tail and the painted wing, only a slight hesitation and he slammed it down on the ditto, which made it wobble more and a part of it stretched out and ran over Lorenz arm, he shuddered at the wet, slimy feeling and pulled his arm away with a disgusting look on his face. The ditto cackled and then its color turned beige-ish and appendages began to stretch out from its body to slowly take form of arms and legs. A tail stretched out from behind of it, and ears flopped down and then the "hat" formed on top in the end. The newly formed "smeargle" turned and stretched to look down itself and see its new form, then it held its hands up and covered its mouth as it giggled. It paused and looked closely at Lorenz, and then, a bit hesitantly it also took its tail in its hand and waved it a bit tentatively. It's eyes were still beady and looked funny, but from a distance it could go just fine as a smeargle as it even got the markings around the eyes right. Lorenz stared at it with a gaping mouth, and then his expression broke into a huge smile. That was incredible what it had managed to do! He instantly tried to mimic what it had done in the hope of being able to do it as well. What a world which would be open to him!
Hector had made his way to the corsola and kneeled close to it, it looked at him suspiciously. "Are you hurt?" He asked it and saw it glance towards the battle. "Don't worry! Astrid will handle it no problem! And if not then I and my pokemon will protect you! He declared with a smile and sat down on the sand and looked at it eagerly. The corsola looked a bit uncomfortable. "You look really cool, do you know that?" He asked it cheerfully and it looked surprised at him, and then flattered.
(ooc: Lorenz attempts to use Sketch on Transform, here's to hoping he gets to move first this round ^^. Bike is ON of course)
Lorenz lightened up when he felt he had sketched something, he looked at his doubleganger and then turned away. He looked at some of the grass but dismissed that as well before he turned to the poor corsola and then hurried to its side. The ditto disguised as a smeargle was looking suspiciously at what Lorenz was doing and its mouth fell open when the normal type suddenly proved to have been able to copy its trick and now looked like a rather beige corsola with a green tip on some of its horns, and smeargle markings around its eyes. When Lorenz showed the same ability as the ditto, it upset Hector as much as first time he saw it and he grabbed the corsola and dragged it back and away. Lorenz was ecstatic and threw himself out in the water, all the places he could now visit and paint! This was perfect! A moment later a very soaked and cold smeargle came rushing back up and Astrid recalled him when he reached her. A transformation clearly needed training to work fully and to last more than just a few moments.
Leafeon appeared in front of the transformed ditto who looked very suspiciously at her, could she do something like Lorenz too? It would take a moment for the leafeon to adjust to her surroundings and realize that the smeargle in front of her wasn't Lorenz but actually an opponent. "It will be best, if you use a Razor Leaf," Astrid told Leafeon, and Hector glanced at her as he wondered why she was suddenly giving direct directions for her pokemon in battle. Perhaps it was just because it was Leafeon? Hector turned to the corsola and asked if it was okay and offered it some berries.
(ooc: Leafeon switches in and uses Razor Leaf, bike is ON)
It was first with Leafeon's hesitation Astrid remembered that the grass type pokemon hadn't really tried any of those things yet, and probably didn't like it either. It was good that the disguised ditto gave Leafeon plenty of time to get over her reluctance and try figure out how that move worked, Helen was quick to come with some suggestion and Leafeon was surprised to see leaves fly from her when she threw her head around as told. "Good! Thank you Leafeon," Astrid said, Leafeon wasn't sure what to think about it. "Come back, it is time for Helen to take over I think," Astrid said and Leafeon happily retreated and stood beside Yakul to watch the rest of the match, while Helen crawled out to take her place. The smeargle looking ditto looked rather frustrated that it wasn't able to try this move which had been used on it, even though it had tried several times already. "Hold back Helen, I want to try capture it," Astrid informed seriously and Leafeon glanced surprised at her, didn't she already have one of those pokemon?
Meanwhile Hector was busy trying to bond with the corsola and it went pretty well since they had a shared disgust over the ditto, and Hector kept telling it how cool it was. He made no attempt to hide that he'd love if it joined him although he didn't ask it directly, the corsola looked to be warming up to him. Perhaps it didn't have so many others since it was all the way up on the beach instead of deep down in the ocean on a reef like they usually were?
