As they moved up the creek they soon heard splashing ahead of them and Pia and Silvia hurried forward to see what they had encountered. "Do not get too far ahead, I would like to see what we are meeting before you two start anything," Astrid warned Pia huffed, it was much faster when she could do it in her own pace. It turned out to be a pidgeotto who was washing itself in the creek. Silvia stared at it incredulously. "What is it doing?" She whispered to Pia who sent her a weird look. "Washing of course, so it might not want to battle and Astrid might want us to move on," Pia said regretfully but Silvia just kept staring, it was so weird to see a non-water type splashing around.
"Oh! A Pidgeotto, can you ask it if it wants to battle?" Astrid asked and Pia looked hopeful, but Silvia was faster. "Hey! I think you are clean enough, want to battle?" The horsea called out blunty and Pia chuckled. The bird looked up from what it was doing. "No," it said flatly and then scratched itself vigorously which made Astrid frown and look closer at it. She didn't understand what it had said of course but the feathers drifted around it as it scratched itself and it actually looked worse for the wear. Astrid couldn't see it clearly but it looked like it had bald spots all around, and it looked dirty even if it was wet from the water, and then it kept scratching itself like its life depended on it! It looked sick and a lot more than what a potion could cure. "Let me take you to a Nurse Joy, she can help you," Astrid said and wanted to tell it she would promise its safety and getting it back here but she could tell by its reaction that it didn't agree. "I'm not sick!" It protested and Pia rolled her eyes. "Yes you are! Why don't you just let us help you!" Silvia argued and the pidgeotto fluffed out the feathers it had left and a few more fell off. "I'm not weak! I'm at the prime of my life!" It screeched and began to sound desperate.
Astrid still didn't know what was going on but she wasn't going to let this bird suffer a slow death just because it was stubborn. "I am going to bring you in, no matter if you like it or not," Astrid declared, "Silvia, I need you to weaken it, but hold back as it doesn't look well," she ordered and the pidgeotto looked really offended at that. Silvia took a deep breath but when she spewed it wasn't bubbles like last time which appeared, it was some sort of purple breath which flew at the bird. Silvia blinked surprised, what was that? Astrid didn't wait, she had a pokeball ready and looped it at the bird as soon as she got the chance.

"That was good," Astrid said as the pokeball confirmed the capture, "well done Silvia." The horsea didn't really listen as she was busy trying to spew the same thing as she had done last time, but failed. "It takes time to master a new move, you'll get the hand of it within the next few battles," Pia reassured her and looked around to see if she could spot something else to battle. "I am sorry, but we will have to postpone the training a bit," Astrid apologized and recalled her two protesting pokemon before she dismounted to claim the pokeball containing the pidgeotto. The bird needed to see Nurse Joy right away, she could always return to the training later on. She turned Yakul to face Goldenrod and they trotted quickly back to the big city.
