Maxwell king » OOC: LETS GO! Having recently left Union Cave and on the path to Azalea Town, Max couldn't help but take his time along to way paying extra attention to his all too familiar surroundings, after all he couldn't be sure when the next time he would have the chance to return to his hometown. As Max walked by the Slowpoke Well on the outskirts of town he had thought he had heard a moan of pain, he couldn't be sure if it was his mind just playing tricks on him however, it was late in the evening and Max was closer to passing out from exhaustion than he originally had thought he was, today had felt like an exceptionally long day.
Upon arriving in his hometown Max recognised Old Kurt's house and Bugsy's gym as well as the locals houses nearby, the town had not changed in the short time that Max hadn't been there, not at all to his surprise. Max made his way towards the local Pokemon Centre, a place he used to call home for so very long. As the sliding doors to the building opened Max took a moment of reflection as the spot he stood on was the same very spot that he had been abandoned as a baby and taken in by Nurse Joy.
After he had spent a moment reflecting, Max entered in through the sliding doors of the centre and recognised an all too familiar face standing behind the desk and a smile came to his face, at this moment he well and truly felt as though he was home. Max continued towards the desk but the next thing he knew everything was black as he collapsed to the ground, he had passed out from exhaustion.
Max awoke in a bed feeling a little groggy, he couldn't be sure as to how long he had been out to it. Max found himself in his old bed in fact as he noticed a shopping basket filled with all of his favourite snacks. Almost like a motherly instinct had been felt, Nurse Joy entered the room with a smile beaming across her face, she was filled with joy to see what was essentially her adopted son. Max had never actually referred to Nurse Joy as Mum but he felt a special bond towards her that he definitely didn't feel towards anybody else.
"Hey Mum, good to see you again"
Max could see Nurse Joy's smile hit another peak, the male young adult had certainly tugged at her heartstrings with the simple gesture of referring to her as his mother. Nurse Joy and Max spent the morning together over breakfast and Max profusely apologised for his behaviour growing up and how much he must have been a thorn in Joy's side, she dismissed the apology and noted that it was all part and parcel of growing up.
Joy couldn't help but share how excited and proud she felt watching her boy fairing very well for himself out in the big wide world and asked where his path was going to lead to next, of course Max's competitive nature had left him set on a b-line towards the local Pokemon Gym to challenge Bugsy, the bug type pokemon leader. Joy refrained from asking Max if he thought he was ready for such a step up challenge wise as she knew it would likely hit at Max's weak spot, being doubted at being able to do anything, she did however warn him towards how many challengers had visited recently with fainted pokemon and indicated to not take any of Bugsy's pokemon lightly as if they were pushovers, especially his Scyther, the cream of the crop.
After a lovely breakfast and long time catching up, Max and Joy hugged before the male young adult left and set off for Azalea Town's gym. As Max arrived at the front doors to the gym he pushed them open and walked in with a confidence filled smile on his face as he uttered to himself,
"Didn't take as long as I thought it may have to get her after all, now it's time to put all of this training into action"

The doors opened easily and lead into the lush inside which was the Azalea Gym, Bugsy was a bug type specialist and everything here was built to give the bugs which lived at the gym the best possible surroundings. It was basically a dome with a glass roof and a full of trees and shrubbery for the bugs to live in and feed on and the place was swarming with all kinds of bugs, most of them from the Johto region but if Maxwell paid attention he'd see a few interesting ones. The bugs weren't scared at all by the sight of the unknown human, and a kricketot followed him curiously to see what he would be doing. Maxwell found the battle arena easily enough, it was just straight ahead from the doors, there were just no Bugsy in sight, nor where there any other humans to see. The bugs swarmed around and a few butterfrees came fluttering over to check him out, but none of the bugs seemed to knowing to find the gym leader and tell him about the arrival of a challenger, and if Maxwell tried to ask them to do it, he would just get some curious looks. He would be alone for quite some time, longer if he stayed and just waited instead of looking around or do something else in an attempt to find someone who could help him. Eventually a young woman would come walking, with a spinarak on her shoulder and weedle crawling after her, she stopped abruptly when she noticed Maxwell. "How long have you been here?" She asked half panicked, "I... I didn't know we were waiting someone today," she added hesitantly. She would shuffle a bit uncertainly and then gesture for Maxwell to follow her, "Bugsy is this way," she would say and then lead the way out of the gym and to the back to a secluded spot where the workers of the gym could relax between their duties. Bugsy was sitting on the ground with his back against the wall, and entertaining a strange looking worm, which could remind a bit like a purple caterpie with huge eyes. The woman cleared her throat to get Bugsy's attention. "Hi! What is it?" He asked kindly and quickly got up on his feet when he was told the reason. "I'm sorry Blipbug, but duty calls! Amanda, please go get the team, you know where they are right?" Bugsy asked the girl, who nodded eagerly and grabbed the weedle before she ran off. "I'm sorry this is a bit unprofessional, but I have had a lot of battles recently so we need to take all the rest we can get," Bugsy explained to Maxwell with a smile as he lead the same way back into the gym. "We'll be ready in a moment," he added and there would be a short wait time before a scyther came flying in carrying two pokeballs, which was handed Bugsy and she took her place in front of her trainer. "Alright, it is now official. I accept your challenge for my gym badge, may the battle be fierce and the best team win!" Bugsy declared and would wait to see what Maxwell would choose to start with. Bugsy accepts your challenge (when you found him), his Scyther [lvl 21] is his first pokemon. (ooc: 400 words added to egg)

Maxwell king » OOC: Just another challenger right? The events that followed Maxwell's entry to the local Pokemon gym were by no means the ordinary, as he had observed during his Violet City gym challenge, Falkner had been at the ready for any challenger that dared to face his team of flying type pokemon. Max couldn't really blame Bugsy for not being present upon his arrival, after all Azalea was more often than not a quiet and reserved town. The numerous bug pokemon that watched Max with keen eyes may have been enough to give some Pokemon trainers the heebie jeebies, that definitely wasn't the case with this former local of the town, after all he himself owned a bug type pokemon in the form of his recently hatched Scyther, known to him as Edward, a classy reference to a film that Max had enjoyed as a kid.
Max stood still in the middle of the battle arena for a fair proportion of time, he used this time to mentally devise a strategy as to how he wanted to approach his impending battle with Bugsy. After standing around and waiting his fair share of time, a young woman made her presence abruptly known as she panicked while asking Max how long he had been waiting, to respond Max simply just shrugged his shoulders in a motion that would signal to her that he wasn't phased by the wait and that time wasn't an issue today. Max followed the young woman out of the gym and to what appeared to be a resting spot, the place where Bugsy had been relaxing, after finishing up what he was doing Bugsy apologised to Max for the lack of professionalism surrounding the situation they were currently in.
"No stress Bugsy, I know how quiet this town can get after all"
Max had a confident smirk on his face, Bugsy's physical appearance was nothing to gloat about and to the common eye he would look like a blow over challenge wise, Max was aware however that there was more than meets the eye with the bug type leader, his bug type team and strategies he would use to achieve victory were well and truly revered in Azalea Town. Bugsy led the way back indoors to the battle arena as his Scyther made a grand entrance flying in from above carrying two pokeballs and then took its place in front of the bug type pokemon leader ready for battle. Bugsy declared the battle as official and at that point Max retrieved Crimson's pokeball from his pocket and released the fire type lizard from his resting place. The go-goggles wearing Charmeleon raised his arms into a flexed motion and locked eyes with its bug type adversary in an attempt to assert his dominance and show that he wasn't to be messed with.
"Let's get things moving shall we Crimson, start things off with your Flamethrower attack"
While the typing advantage was indefinitely in Max's favour with the two pokemon that were currently chosen to battle, the speed advantage was surely with Bugsy's Scyther, the mantis pokemon encapsulated what a pokemon with speed would look like, at least in bug form that is. Max was nervously confident however he could see Bugsy's stoic expression that indicated that he was not at all surprised by Maxwell's choice of pokemon to battle, to which Max simply added to his opposing trainer,
"This is definitely not the first and surely won't be the last you'll see of a challenger approach a battle like this with a fire type pokemon as a solution."

Bugsy looked surprised at Maxwell before he laughed at his comment. "You're right, that's usual the situation here, and I don't know what have suddenly changed! You are the third challenger today and I had four yesterday! We really need to sneak in all the rest we can get here and there, and I have a class of kids coming in later as well, for the usual teaching of bugs," Bugsy grinned and walked with a spring in his steps. He certainly was going to enjoy the activity while it lastet, since as Maxwell said it was normally quiet around here and Bugsy expected it to become that again later on. Crimson took the stage inside and there were a flurry of activity as the wild bugs in the indoor trees scurried away, knowing from experience that they might get hit by a stray ember. Scyther pouted and sighed when she saw who her opponent was going to be, why had it always have to be fire types? She didn't look scared or subdued by his confidence, she probably had the same amount from being the strongest pokemon in this area and having tons of battles under her belt. Scyther was fast and that was probably the only thing that kept her from succumbing to the vibrant fires which Crimson shot at her, she leaped into the air and dodged back and forth and avoided some of the flames which Crimson filled the air with, and set the grass and leaves smoldering. Bugsy had opened his mouth to give his order but stared in shock at the potent flames which was used, that was a lot more powerful than usual, and Crimson certainly was a lot faster than he looked! He frowned and began to rethink his strategy, and made a quick decision, they wouldn't gain anything from doing as normally. "Scyther! Dual Wingbeat!" Bugsy called out and the big mantis dived and smacked the side of her scythes into Crimson, sending him to the ground and knocking the air out of him, effectively stopping his breath of fire. Bugsy ran a hand through his hair and laughed nervously, or perhaps from relief from having stopped the flamethrower. "Yeah, three of the challengers yesterday did use fire types as well, but not all of them had a badge when they left the gym," Bugsy said and nodded to his Scyther, "I have to remind her often, that people brings fire types because they are scared of facing her."Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Scyther LV 21 HP 36% [24/66] [attr="class","qkt-wild-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Crimson LV 23 HP 16% [11/66] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] Falkner's Scyther [Technician]: Normal Maxwell's Crimson [Blaze]: Normal (Holding Choice Scarf ) <Crimson used Flamethrower, Scyther used Dual Wingbeat (and ate its berry)> (ooc: 400 words added to the egg)

Maxwell king » OOC: BUGGIN' OUT Having hear the volume of challengers that Bugsy had dealt with in the past two days alone was rather surprising to the former resident of the town, after all Azalea was nothing like the big cities of the Johto region that had challengers visiting the local pokemon gyms one after another. As Max had expected, his decision to utilise a fire type pokemon to begin with against bug type pokemon was nothing new to Bugsy and his crew, however the lavender hair coloured male's facial expression showed a look of surprise as to how quick Crimson the Charmeleon was.
Max smirked towards his gym leader opponent, to the male young adult he seen Bugsy's assumption that Max was simply another challenger trying to waltz in and take the badge by force with fire type pokemon as an insult, after all he felt he was just as smart already as the guy commonly known around these parts as 'The Walking Bug Pokémon Encyclopaedia'
Crimson's Flamethrower attack was only interrupted by a physical flying type attack that was perfectly executed by Bugsy's Scyther as the mantis like pokemon dived and consecutively smacked the side of its scythes into Crimson. The impact of the scythes against Crimson knocked him to the ground and quintessentially knocked the air right out him as the fire type lizard struggled to gasp for air, to say that Bugsy's Scyther had hit the mark would be a gross understatement to say the least. Max was thoroughly impressed by the move that Bugsy's Scyther had used, he had never seen the attack 'Dual Wingbeat' utilised in battle but had read online that it was an effective attacking technique that only the most experienced of pokemon trainers were able to tutor into their partner pokemon. Despite previously feeling insulted by Bugsy's words, Max couldn't help but admire the effort it must have taken for Bugsy to teach his bug type partner the move that had just been executed.
"Impressive move that one Bugsy, you've clearly been working hard with that Scyther of yours"
Despite how much damage Crimson had dealt to his bug type adversary, it appeared as though he had received the same amount of damage if not more so as the fire type lizard pokemon was still struggling to catch his breath. Max wasn't entirely sure as to how much longer Crimson may last in the battle so his mindset was switched onto ending this section of the battle as soon as possible. Crimson's breathing had started to return to its regular rhythm however it was abundantly clear that it was much more laboured then before as he awaited directions from his trainer which didn't take long to follow once the male young adult recognised that his fire type pokemon was ready to go again,
"Keep it together Crimson and finish this off with another dosage of your Flamethrower attack!"
Crimson reached to his head and using his three sharp claws lowered his go-goggles over his eyes, if he was going out, he was going out in style. The bipedal reptilian pokemon prepared himself to unleash another deadly flamethrower attack and end the dominance of Bugsy's Scyther before it truly took all of the momentum of the battle and ran away with it. Crimson was ever determined not to lose, he was willing to do whatever it took to emerge victorious in this battle.

Bugsy was used to people underestimating him, and thinking that because he had bug types he would be easily beaten. Fire types often meant that him and his pokemon would be at the loosing end of the challenge but he wasn't going to make it easy for the challengers just because of that. He had had some troubles in the past but after having learned about, and successfully managed to teach his scyther the Dual Wingbeat technic, she could handle even more challengers and he could surprise more trainers with the skills of his pokemon. "I have," Bugsy agreed, "but that is certainly also necessary when trainers like you come and challenge me! I'd say this is the hardest one per far, compared to the other fire types we met yesterday," Bugsy said with a grin. Bugsy and his scyther patiently waited for Crimson to catch his breath and get back up on his feet again, as this was a gym challenge and not some dirty street fighting down an alley. Bugsy wanted to test Maxwell's skills and their ability to adapt and grow in hardship. Bugsy was excited to see what Maxwell and Crimson would do next to counter this unexpected move from his scyther. A smile spread across Bugsy's face when Maxwell gave his order and Crimson pulled down his goggles, ready to fire up this battle. "Your charmeleon is fast, but not fast enough! Quick Attack!" Bugsy called out and Scyther was gone in a blurr. Crimson blinked surprised as something had hit him but he hadn't seen any. Scyther made a sliding stop over the grass several feets behind him after she had crossed path with him, and she turned to look intently at him. This would be the end of their battle since she wouldn't live through another flamethrower, so it all came down to if Crimson endured her attack or not. The charmeleon took a staggering step forward and then went down on one knee. He fought with all his might to stay conscious and continue the battle, but it wasn't enough and he flopped down on his belly. Scyther straightened proudly and with a disgustingly smug smile she strolled back to stand in front of Bugsy again. The bug type leader exhaled relieved, that had been a close call! "As I said, a fire type isn't a secure win here, but I doubt you expected that and I'm looking forward to see what pokemon you bring out as your next one!" Bugsy said with a wry smile. Maxwell king » OOC: Ouchie Maxwell may have not shown it externally but internally he was all sorts of fired up at Bugsy's compliment that his Crimson had been their most dangerous challenge as of late, it wasn't an idle compliment either as the violet haired male had a completely serious tone of voice while stating it. Bugsy was careful and calculating as he had simply awaited for Max to make the next move, which the young adult male was all too eager to do so. Bugsy's Scyther was swift as it glided across the battlefield like a bullet that had been shot out of a gun, its quick attack packed quite the punch as the mantis pokemon was by his trainers side one moment and then behind Crimson the next. The scene was like something out of a movie as Bugsy's Scyther stood in full action like pose looking back towards its fire type opponent. Crimson struggled as he went down to one knee unable to catch his regular breathing pattern and then proceeded to collapse into the ground, out like a light. As it turned out, speed kills, literally. Max could only nod his head in admiration towards Bugsy and his lethal weapon of a Scyther, their was no two ways about it, getting this gym badge was going to take every last inkling of energy from Max and his team and maybe even then some,
"Impressive."
Max retrieved Crimson's pokeball and returned the passed out Charmeleon into his resting place, the fire type pokemon had certainly earned a solid break after the valiant performance that he had put up against Bugsy's Scyther. As Max put Crimson's pokeball away he then proceeded to retrieve another pokeball, one with a little lightning bottle symbol on the front of it as he tossed it up into the air. Emerging from the blinding red light was Jupiter the Flaaffy, the bubbly pink scarf wearing electric type pokemon surveyed her surroundings with great intrigue as she couldn't quite set her focus upon the challenging task that lay directly ahead of her. Max had seen the raw potential that Jupiter possessed, in fact it may not be hyperbole to assert that she was the strongest member of his team of pokemon physically, mentally though was a whole different ball game. Keeping his commands short and sweet was the most effective way to communicate to Jupiter is what Max had found so far, her short attention span only allowed for minimal thoughts to be processed through her mind.
"Jupiter, Thunderbolt."
Jupiter's head was off in the clouds figuratively as Max had directed her to attack, she had been admiring the various species of bug type pokemon that were watching from nearby in this bug like sanctuary, it was a crowd she wasn't entirely used to and had her giddy with excitement.

Though Bugsy was quite proud of his Scyther for defeating a fire type there was no denying that he was a bit worried about the amount of damage his Scyther had sustained. Those doubts only grew worse when Maxwell sent out his next Pokemon an electric type that was uncommon to see in his gym but not so rare that it was totally unexpected. " Ah a Flaaffy, not a bad choice at all. Like before type alone will not guarantee victory however it is a worthy opponent to face next. Be ready for this round Scyther." He said as the mantis scraped it's scythe like arms together waiting for the order to strike. Bugsy hesitated for a moment wanting to see what move Maxwell would try first before selecting a move not wanting to jeopardize his current advantage. As Maxwell called out the next attack however there was no doubt in Bugsy's mind that it was time to use the ace up his sleeve before the Flaaffy could get off it's attack. " Scyther I do not believe you have enough energy to endure a Thunderbolt but this is the perfect time for us to pull out all the stops. Use your U-Turn attack and give our challenger a real show of force." As soon as he ordered the attack Scyther rushed forward extending one of it's arms slashing Jupiter with a powerful blow before retreating to it's Pokeball. The only drawback of the move was that Bugsy would have to send out another Pokemon and whichever one he chose would take the incoming Thunderbolt with no way to defend itself. " Kakuna come on out, let's see if you can endure at least one hit with your strong armor." As the cocoon Pokemon appeared in front of him Jupiter fired off her attack scoring a direct hit sending Kakuna toppling over after a single hit. As disappointing as it was Kakuna had taken a hit for the team allowing Scyther to remain in the fight and Bugsy fully intended to take advantage of that one good piece of news. " Not a bad Thunderbolt, had that hit my Scyther I would be in a lot of trouble right now. Speaking of Scyther however I think it is time she has another go." He then tossed the Pokeball containing the mantis in front of him as she appeared in a flash. The bug was not in a great mood after he friend was knocked out and was looking for a bit of revenge on Jupiter. Maxwell king » OOC: Replace Flash with Electro Ball please! Jupiter's arrival to the battle scene had led to a rather shocking turn of events that were quite the sight to behold and well and truly showcased to Max how adept Bugsy was with his battle strategy and how much confidence he had in his team of bug type pokemon. Bugsy's Scyther had been swift in its movements, almost like a blur as it slashed its scythe like arm across Jupiter's face as the electric type pokemon winced in pain but continued to charge her oncoming, vicious Thunderbolt attack. Scyther quickly retreated to his pokeball.
"Smooth moves there Bugsy, you can only avoid the inevitable for so long though"
Bugsy released his Kakuna from its pokeball to replace the mantis pokemon in battle, the cocoon pokemon was just as quickly removed from the battlefield as Jupiter's lethal electric type attack hit the mark and then some quite literally as the bug pokemon fainted from the pain that it had endured from Jupiter's attack. Max had a smile on his face of quiet confidence, now both he and the Azalea Town gym leader had one pokemon faint in the battle so were on relatively even terms for the time being.
As Bugsy released his Scyther back onto the battlefield after returning his fainted Kakuna back to rest in it's pokeball, Max couldn't help but feel a little off, the mantis pokemon had certainly been quite the figurative thorn in his side so far, it was time to exterminate the bug once and for all and Max had full confidence in his bubbly electric type pokemon to get the job done.
"Jupiter, let's put an end to Scyther's dominance with another one of your lethal Thunderbolt attacks!"
Max was all to aware that the speed advantage was clearly in Bugsy's Scyther's favour rather than his own pokemon, whether the mantis pokemon had the necessary damage to finish off Jupiter was yet to be determined, if it were not able to do so with it's next attack it was a damn near guarantee that it's valiant stand in the battle would come to a shocking conclusion. Jupiter had been overly excited by all of the action that was taking place in front of her, this was like some sort of drama television show and she got to be a part of it, how wonderful she thought as she begun to prepare for her next attack

Vs. Bugsy!
"Don't write us off that easily!" Bugsy smirked, throwing his hand out to the side to command his mantis Pokemon. The Scyther, a terrifying beast of combat and the sole reason so many hopes and dreams were crushed in this very gym, scraped the razor sharp edges of her scythes together with determination. There was about to be a loser here, and it wasn't going to be her. They'd battled through thick and thin, be it fire Pokemon, flying, ice or normal. The Charmeleon didn't scare her, and neither did the Flaafy. "You know what to do, girl. Let's teach them the ferocity bug Pokemon can hold!"
One moment, Scyther was there.
As soon as the command was given for a Thunderbolt, Scyther wasn't anymore.
In another almost instantaneous flash, Scyther had disappeared from one spot and reappeared behind Jupiter. In a quick rush, the mantid Pokmeon slammed her body into the sheep to knock her off balance and into the dirt, U-turning back towards Bugsy with a smirk on her face. No more electricity would touch her today, little sheep. The Scyther returned back to the safety of the pokeball, but not before Jupiter attempted to finish this battle where it stood. The electricity licked out, surging forward like a dangerous tidal wave of energy, impacting into...
A Metapod.
Bugsy's other cocoon Pokemon, the Metapod, lay in Scyther's place. Much like the Kakuna, it met an untimely end at the end of the Flaffy's charged attack.
"So you see, while I do have to sacrifice a few bug Pokemon for this gambit to work, nothing can match the speed of one of the greatest predators to grace the bug kingdom. She's fast, faster than my eyes can watch, but if you know where to look..." Bugsy's smile was genuine - he seemed to be having fun, proud of what they'd accomplished here within the four walls of the gym. "You're doing a great job against her though. Do you think your Flaaffy can take another hit like that before a thunderbolt strikes? We made a gambit, but now it's your turn." Maxwell king » OOC: Close the show or maybe not?! Bugsy's approach to this battle was calculated and well thought out as his mantis pokemon had successfully executed multiple hit and run style attacks. Max was less than impressed with the way things were working out after the latest round of cat and mouse had concluded, while the young adult male indefinitely respected Bugsy's strategy and the resilience it took to pull off successfully, Max couldn't help but feel that the bug type master was delaying the inevitable at this point.
So far Bugsy had sacrificed his Kakuna and Metapod in order to preserve his Scyther's presence in battle, now the mantis pokemon stood as Bugsy's sole combatant left in the battle. Max looked towards his usually bubbly partner in Jupiter, the electric sheep pokemon certainly appeared to have less energy than usual as the mantis pokemon had certainly left its mark. Max was aware enough of the situation he was faced with, Bugsy's Scyther was the quicker of the two pokemon left on the battlefield and would likely put an end to Jupiter's valiant stand with its next attack.
With that thought in mind Max reached into his pocket and retrieved a gold crystal and then with his other hand retrieved the pokeball that contained the recently fainted Crimson as he released the fire type pokemon from its resting place. Crimson looked in no shape to continue battling, there was a method to Max's madness however as he moved towards his fire type lizard pokemon and gave it the yellow crystal item to consume. Max's actions were likely to cause Jupiter to take the brunt of the mantis pokemons impending attack, this was however the game plan that Max had chosen to move forward with, he was willing to do whatever it takes to win this battle.

It might just be dragging out the battle, Bugsy's tactic but if he could last longer than his opponent, that could still give him the victory. And it put the challenger under a good amount of pressure, so they had to think and grow from the experience, and then Bugys's goal had been met. That and they got renewed respect for the bug type and realized they weren't all so easy to walk over as many thought. While had sacrificed a couple of his pokemon, which he hadn't really planned on, as they usually could withstand an attack or two, and had some surprises he unfortunately hadn't gotten a chance to show off in this battle He was proud of what his scyther had achieved and from the look of Maxwell he agreed. Bugsy smiled proudly when he saw Maxwell finding a revive and readied to use it. "We can do this Scyther! U-turn will be good," he said and once again his scyther seemed to disappear in thin air, before reappearing behind Jupiter and once more sending her into the dust. As Scyther landed before Bugsy, Jupiter slowly got back up on her feet. She was not done yet, but she wouldn't last long. "Your pokemon are strong, but who is sacrificing now to earn some time?" Bugsy asked with a grin, as he recognized what Maxwell was doing. He doubted how long Scyther would be able to withstand Crimson's flamethrower as it had almost taken her down last time, but he wasn't going to give up and would make it as hard for Maxwell as he possible could. Maxwell king » OOC: Prolonging the inevitable! Max had originally been quite irritated by Bugsy's strategy to prolong his inevitable defeat, now however it seemed the tables had turned dramatically and Max was in the figurative drivers seat moving forward through the battle. Bugsy and his bug type partner in the ever dangerous Scyther took the opportunity presented to them like a golden ticket as the mantis pokemon got in another effective U-Turn attack on Jupiter, to Max's surprise however the pink sheep pokemon was still standing after the attack, Jupiter was clearly in a great deal of pain but her toughness was something that could not be questioned. Crimson stood revived next to Max ready to take over in the battle once Jupiter's time was over, the go-goggle wearing fire lizard wanted revenge against his bug type adversary. Max pulled a potion item from his backpack and begun to spray it on the clear and obvious wounds that Crimson's body was littered with from his previous stand in the battle, this was likely to spell the end for Jupiter in the battle as Max was aware that Bugsy would likely take the opportunity once again to finish the electric type sheep pokemon once and for all.
"Chess not checkers"
A simple yet effective jibe towards Bugsy that would showcase how this battle had evolved from much more than a physical affair as both sides actively implemented strategies on the fly. Jupiter stood ready to take the brunt of the mantis pokemon's attack that she was sure was on its way. Max was filled with pride to the individual efforts that both Crimson and Jupiter had showed in the gym battle thus far, after all this was indefinitely Max's toughest challenge to date.

Bugsy might have dragged the battle out but that had only happened because he had foiled what had seemed to be Maxwell's initial plan: to let Crimson burn everything down without any resistance at all. But if that was how it was to challenge a gym, why even have a battle? Then there would be nothing to prove and you could just as well have it handed it to you when you asked for it, where was the fun in that? No bragging about winning it, no showing off or a cool story to tell about how you have overcomed a particular hard challenge. No a badge from a gym was something to hold with pride, it was proof of what the holder had accomplished and as such it shouldn't be easy to get your hands on. Nurse Joy had been right to warn him about Bugsy, and even if Maxwell might have underestimated the gym leader in the beginning, he had hopefully learned a thing or two now. Bugsy had a pretty good feeling of what Maxwell's plan was, it wasn't really hidden when he spent time on healing his fire type while letting his fighting pokemon just stand and take the hits. There wasn't much he could do about it, but he was pleased he had made this enough of a challenge to Maxwell so that he had to do this. He was certain he had managed to surprise the trainer and earn some respect for his gym and his bug types. Bugsy grinned confidently at Maxwell's comment, which only confirmed his thoughts about the young man. "U-turn!" Was the answer and Scyther went there and here in a flash, and was standing in front of Bugsy again before Jupiter hit the grass. They were ready for the next round and Maxwell's next move. Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Scyther LV 21 HP 36% [24/66] [attr="class","qkt-wild-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Jupiter LV 25 HP 0% [00/77] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] Falkner's Scyther [Technician]: Normal Maxwell's Jupiter [Static]: Normal (Holding Focus Sash ) <Scyther used U-Turn and Jupiter fainted!, A potion was used on Crimson (53/66 HP)> Jupiter valiantly sacrificed herself for a greater course! Who shall take her place?(ooc: 1 Potion deducted and 286 words added to egg. I have added the two levels Edward should have gotten from exp. share from the winnings over the two cocoon. He has become lvl 8 and can learn False Swipe if he forgets another move.)

Maxwell king » OOC: Replace Leer with False Swipes thanks! The tension between Maxwell and Bugsy wasn't one fuelled with hate, more so it was fuelled by both seemingly demanding respect from the other through both their actions and responses to ever changing circumstances. The winner of the battle will have well and truly earned the respect from their opposite.
Bugsy's Scyther was easily the most resilient bug type pokemon that Max had ever encountered, no amount of bug spray seemed to work on this bug. As stubbornly resilient as Bugsy's Scyther had been, Jupiter's imprint on the battle would not go unnoticed. The pink sheep pokemon was quite literally taking shot after shot from her bug type adversary like she was some sort of boxing heavy bag.
As Bugsy commanded his mantis pokemon to hit it's now commonplace U-Turn attack, Max knew all too well that this would Jupiter's final stand, the electric type pokemon didn't have much energy left. The mantis pokemon connected swiftly, it certainly had no wasted movement in executing its attack and in response Jupiter succumbed to the extensive amount of damage it had withstood and fell face first into the grass. Max smiled at the events that had occurred, he was proud of Jupiter's effort and returned her back into her pokeball for a well and truly deserved rest.
Crimson stepped forward from beside Max as he pointed his claw towards Bugsy's Scyther, it was time for him to extract some revenge. Max was filled with nervous excitement, this was the stage of the battle where absolutely anything was possible. The battle so far had been the equivalent of a rollercoaster ride experience wise with so many ups and downs and twists and turns taking place. Crimson lowered his go-goggles over his eyes and awaited Max's orders which soon followed,
"Crimson, time to finish this off with Flamethrower!"
