(I will not catch spearow yes, and Peb will forget sand attack in favor of learning mud-slap.)
Peb looked at the spearow for a moment, crouched low and lifted it onto his back using his antenna and started to move toward the tea house. Sloane looked at Peb in confusion, as he carried the other Pokemon. Suddenly, Peb hopped and placed the spearow on a table. It was one of the higher tables with chairs. Sloane came and picked Peb up, glancing at the defeated bird curiously. She didn't understand why Peb had taken the trouble to put it up high.
The truth was that this table gave a view between two larger buildings out of the city. While lying on the table, the spearow would be able to see the raging storm as it left the town. Once he was picked up Peb quietly sat on Sloane's shoulder, deep in thought. This journey was a strange one, Peb had heard that wild pokemon were vicious and hostile, but they had really been just very rough playmates. It was impossible for Sloane to understand that they meant well, but he could only hope the pokemon he met would understand. Sloane recalled Peb into his Poke ball. "You did a good job today Peb! See you later!"
Sloane had decided that between the relentless rain and flooding it was a better idea to get out of Cherrygrove. On the road again she called out Butterscotch and let the Pokemon follow her on foot. Butterscotch did not like to be held so far, she squirmed every time Sloane picked her up. Heading north on route 30 she grinned. "Hey Butterscotch, do you know what's at the end of this road? Violet City! That's where Sprout tower and the Ruins of Alph are! It's been my dream to go to Violet! You're gonna love it there, I promise!"
Butterscotch rolled her eyes but kept pumping along the road, when her legs got tired she switched to hopping on her tail. Butterscotch was ever vigilant, getting high up on her tail to look for danger. Wild pokemon wouldn't catch her easily like they did her trainer.

With Butterscotch scouting ahead it would be easy to avoid any sort of surprises rustling in from the thick summer grasses, or soaring in from the mottled skies above. However, not all surprises necessarily came from the peripheral. A ways down the winding road voices would pick up in the distance. Some sort of grumbley pokémon intermingled with hushed sounds of the young trainers littering the entry routes of Johto. With the alert sentret marking their path this would be easy to avoid. It was quiet for a moment. As if entering the eye of the storm to come. All at once a frustrated cry and sharp whistle would burst forth from the bushes nearby. "Not AGAIN!?" came a boy's voice, exasperated, as something came shooting by through the air. "Again!" An echo proceeded the whistle as a flutter of wings rose above Sloane and her sentret. The bird chattered cheerily. "Again! Got you now, again!" it repeated as it carried on across the path. "Get out of here." The boy, now standing in plain view, waved his net angrily after the retreating chatot. His lips were pursed tightly, net waving until the bird had disappeared from his vision. Only then did the net come down. Both hands grasped it. Fingers wringing the slightly flexible material in the process. Even when his gaze met his new company he didn't relinquish any of his frustrations. "That nuisance of a bird is scaring off all my bugs, all while mimicking the one I'm hunting," he explained to the budding archaeologist despite not being asked. The bug catcher groaned loudly. "Would you battle me? I need something fun to distract me..." He trailed off, almost seeming a bit ashamed as he pulled his hat down over his eyes for a second before adjusting to properly fit the headgear more solidly on his frame. He then pulled out a pokéball from his bin and tossed it; revealing a shining green metapod. Bug Catcher Wade is challenging you to a battle! He's sent out his Metapod (Lv 7) Who will Sloane send out?

Sloane watched the Chatot fly by. She was a lot less fazed by seeing a new Pokemon, but a little on guard after her numerous bird encounters before. She was relieved to see it didn't want to peck or carry way any of her Pokemon. Turning to the boy Sloane put her hands on her hips to listen as he explained what was going on. She nodded and grinned.
"Okay. Let's battle! I should warn you I'm pretty good. Hopefully I won't be annoying as that uh...that bird Pokemon!" Sloane pointed at the metapod and smiled at Butterscotch. Butterscotch was acting quite aloof, but she did notice Sloane's gesture. "Go on Butterscotch, show em' what you're made of!"
Butterscotch bounded toward the metapod, but skidded to a stop, glancing back at Sloane with a grumpy frown. Sloane realized she had forgot to give her Pokemon a command. Sloane's eyes sparkled as she remembered she had taught Butterscotch a new move recently using a technical machine. Maybe she could show off the new move! She pointed again, spreading her legs in a pose. "Alright Butterscotch, use shadow claw!"
The soft and plushy features of the sentret's face darkened as her hand was enveloped in purple-blue flames. She sprung forward on her tail, swinging her claws with the power of pure darkness!

The boy lightened up when Sloane accepted his challenge but it faded a bit when she mentioned the bird. He glanced around and down at his metapod who was as still as ever. "It's alright, it's not here," he said reassuringly to his cocoon who made no indication of having heard, not even a blink of an eye. "It's so annoying! It keeps sounding like the other worm and then scaring my pokemon when I try to battle it in the hope it is that one," he explained and clenched his fist. They loosened and he seemed to forget it again when Sloane sent Butterscotch forward and then gave an order. "Shadow..?" He murmured, "never heard that before, sounds dangerous!" he whispered awed and grinned. "Alright Metapod! Time to harden up so we can see what is going to happen!" He ordered eagerly and his pokemon seemed to slump a bit. Wade's eyes widened and he mouth fell open when he saw the shadows gather around the sentret's claws, Metapod closed his eyes as Butterscotch leaped at him. It was hard to say who was most surprised afterwards, Metapod slowly opened his eyes and he and Butterscotch stared confused at each other faces inches apart. Then Metapod tensed and its shell toughened up and became glossy, Butterscotch looked down at her claw which had no trace of the darkness she had just drawn in. "What happened?" Wade called out, "what will it do to my pokemon?" he asked worried. (ooc: I'm sorry, I can't let you use the TM like this, mostly since you haven't noted what move Butterscotch should forget to learn it. For the future though, please don't "remember" using it before while being in a battle as it can be seen as a way to try get around not being able to use TM's and such during the battle. If you had used the TM directly in the post before ordering a move (and noted what to forget) it would have been fine. Let me know if it doesn't make sense and I shall try explain it better ^^)

(ohhhh okay! I forgot that I didn't ever specify that. Butterscotch will be trading scratch for shadow claw. If I need to use that between battles then Butterscotch will instead use quick attack this upcoming turn)
"Ehhhh!?" Sloane gasped, sagging her posture as she notice that the effect faded quickly. Perhaps Butterscotch had too brief of an exposure to the TM and wasn't ready yet? Sloane was convinced that her Pokemon simply needed another try. Learning new moves sounded hard after all, and Sloane had never seen a TM used before. She pointed at the Metapod who seemingly had done nothing either. "Alright Butterscotch, hit it with shadow claw! Come on! You can do it!"
Butterscotch scampered over, whipping out her claws and trying once more to summon the darkness from the TM. She wasn't sure her trainer was asking for a reasonable command, so Butterscotch decided that if the technique didn't work this time she would hit it with a quick slap of her poofy tail before rebounding away. As Butterscotch got near and leaped into the air to begin her strike she observed her mostly harmless looking enemy. "Hmph...pathetic" She grumbled before following through.

Wade kept lookin worried between his metapod and Sloane who seemed just as baffled. It did not help calm him down one bit and he rubbed his hands together nervously. Since his metapod had evolved he had had a hard time guessing what his pokemon thought and felt, it had been easier when it had been a caterpie. "What did it do?" He called out again, sounding scared, "can.. can he still evolve?" He added and tears swelled in his eyes while he bit his lip determined not to let them fall. "Oh no! Here it comes again!" Wade gasped when Butterscotch once again jumped at his unmoving metapod with those scary looking claws, "You have to get it away! Or else it will do something so you can't evolve and then we can never play again! That can't happen Metapod, I do want to go exploring with you and Kakuna again."It was almost impossible to see but the green cocoon got a more determined look in its face, which didn't help much when Butterscotch threw herself at it frantically trying to get the move to work, and failing. The sentret waved her hands around so wildly that no shadows was gathered at all, they might even be shining a tiny bit? But that was perhaps just her imagination. She spun around and the fur on her tail waved in the wind as she swung it through the air towards the metapod. She hit it right on and it rolled back from the force, scraping a part of her tail as it moved past and then continued over the ground for several meters. Not that Butterscotch seemed to notice, to focused on getting the move ordered to work for her but it just didn't want to! "Metapod! Are you alright?!" Wade shouted and ran to his cocoon who blinked to him but otherwise couldn't relay how it was feeling. "Can you still battle? If you can win this you might still be able to evolve?" Wade said hopefully and the metapod managed to push itself upright again. "Yeah! That's how to do it! You never give up and have wings in no time! Such weird move won't stop us!" He said eagerly. Sloane frowned as the boy got very worried about his Pokemon. She didn't like feeling as if she were the bad guy. It made sense that every time she did well her opponent got distressed, if Peb or any of her pokemon were hurt she would definitely get anxious, she had simply been lucky enough to win so far. Losing a pokemon battle must be hard, but she decided that it was okay to lose. Perhaps it was a bit hypocritical of her to think so, but she couldn't live with the idea that she was doing the wrong thing. "Hey don't worry! Your metapod is doing fine. You don't lose when you fall down as long as you keep getting back up. If you two keep trying it'll evolve one day, I know it!"
She looked down at Butterscotch, who had a look of intense focus on her small face. "But... Butterscotch and I want to get better too, so we won't hold back! Butterscotch, use quick attack again!"
Butterscotch zipped about suddenly behind it. She sighed in the middle of her attack before eyeing it with an intense stare. "Nothing personal metapod." And then she lunged forward in attempt to finish it off!

The battle wasn’t looking too well for the bug catcher and his Pokemon. His brows furrowed up as a bead of sweat slowly dribbled past his face. Wade raised a hand up to his face to slowly wipe it away in bit his lower lip in fear and anticipation. How could he help his Pokemon, if he couldn’t even protect them from this Sentret’s sharp claws? And what if it cut too deeply and prevented his Pokemon from being able to finish their metamorphosis into beautiful butterflies and wasps?! This couldn’t be how their story was going to end – it just couldn’t it! “Metapod, use Tackle!” He called out. He had to hope it wasn’t too late to try and leave some damage on the other Pokemon. The furry brown long-ears normal-type zipped across the ground in a headlong race. Butterscotch’s opponent seemed frozen in place, making it that much of an easier target. The rotund furry mammal with a light cream donut-shaped marking on her abdomen only needed to focus on making sure her attack was as sharp and as powerful as possible. Sloane…cheered the bug catcher on? The young lad lifted the brim of his straw hat up curiously to glance at her with a confused, puzzled look. Two huge globs of tears creased the edges of his eyelids, threatening to fall over the brim as he fought to put on a brave face. “Th-thank you. It’s just…it’s been hard ever since my Pokemon evolved…and I…I don’t know that I know them anymore.” They’ve changed oh so much since evolution. He thought he would be twice as excited when they finally evolved, but now it seemed like training them became twice as difficult. How was he supposed to help them evolve further?? “Your uh…” He pointed to the furry brown hare that rammed herself into the Metapod, knocking it across the battlefield. “Sentret is really strong, too. Did you catch it yourself?” The Metapod skidded across the ground onto its side. Its eyes closed and it collapsed with one final shriek before passing out due to exhaustion. The Bug Catcher tossed his net to the ground in a fit of frenzied panic and ran to his Pokemon. He dropped onto his knees and placed both of his hands on the Metapod’s shell as he tried to shake it vigorously to get it to wake up and move around. “Oh no…oh no, no, no, no, no. C’mon, buddy. Don’t give up on me now!” The tears burst from his eyes As he wailed and lamented about a bunch of incoherently syllables of mostly how he should have been a better trainer for it. After a good cry, Wade picked himself up and dusted himself off. “This..this isn’t over, miss. I got one more bug Pokemon and we’re gunna give it our all, alright? Kakuna, come on out!” He tossed the second ball up high into the air and summoned his next Pokemon with the click of a button. The green cocoon was instead replaced by a yellow cocoon. With large, black serious eyes that stared at it’s opponent as if it were staring Butterscotch down or studying her. “Kakun…na…Kuna..Kakunaa…” It muttered under its…breath?...as it spoke and wiggled in place on the ground, eager to be free of its Pokeball. (Yay! I would like to swap out scratch for fury swipes!)
Sloane smiled at the boy, trying to take his attention off of how ruthlessly Butterscotch was fighting. She waved her hand dismissively. "Yeah I did catch Butterscotch here, but she didn't always used to be strong. She used to have a hard time in battles and I was worried about her. However, she stuck with me and we trained during a really bad flood storm. Since then the experience seems to have toughened her up."
Sloane took a step backward in surprise as the Metapod dropped to the ground after a particularly hard blow. Sloane frowned in concern, Butterscotch seemed to take fights much more seriously than Sloshy or Peb did. Rubbing her chin Sloane withdrew Butterscotch. "Okay, that's enough roughhousing for today Butterscotch, you did great!"
She grinned as she plucked another pokeball from her bag. "Alright Sloshy let's do it!" She cheered, tossing the pokeball. Sloshy emerged, standing on his tail and doing a twirl. Immediately she remembered who she had just released. The squirtle quickly turned and with a thin stream of water, soaked Sloane's face.
"Sloshy!" She fumed, glaring at him between wet strands of her hair. She sighed and put her hands on her hips. "Don't give me that look! You did that one on purpose! Okay, we need to talk about this later. Sloshy, hit the Kakuna with a water gun!"
Sloshy shrugged but smirked to himself as he prepared to attack. He ran backward, farther back than Sloane was, and began charging up his water gun. As the pressure built he opened his mouth, firing forth a beam of pressurized water. The water went straight for the Kakuna, but not before it grazed Sloane's shoulder.

The bright pink haired young lady pulled out another Pokeball and called out a different Pokemon. The bug catcher’s face fell for a moment as he mentally tried to guesstimate how many different Pokemons he would have to run through just to defeat her. Could Kakuna handle the challenge?? The messy-haired kid donned in a simple white T-shirt and jean shorts pulled at his straw hat as his mind raced with impossibilities. Luckily, his Kakuna was a poisonous Pokemon and had a trick up its shell. If he was lucky and played his cards right, just maybe they would get out of this on top. A bright blue turtle with a thick, bushy tail and a tough brown shell appeared before them. He stared in amazement then burst out into laughter as the water-type turned on its trainer and shot out a gush of water to soak the lass in her face. “Looks like your Squirtle is training YOU!” He pointed out, wrapping his hands tightly around his stomach and he bent over as the laughter overtook his form. He leaned so much that his hat fell off of his head. “At least my Kakuna respects me…I think…” He plucked his hat off the ground and fixed it back properly on his head. Where, in the world, did she find a Squirtle? It couldn’t have been around here! Sure, she admitted that her Butterscotch was from around here but…definitely not the turtle, right?? Right?? “Ok, Kakuna, don’t let that Squirtle hit you with its water gun. Let’s try and poison it with our Poison Sting, before it has a chance to really hurt us!” He commanded with a snap of his fingers. The yellow cocoon rotated its eyes around to catch a glimpse of its trainer out the corner of its eyes, then rotated them back on Sloshy with what could only be assumed as a serious – maybe determined – look. Although, it was hard to tell what cocoon Pokemon were really thinking or feeling. Sloshy’s jet stream of water shot out with a powerful force and nearly tumbled the yellow shelled Pokemon over into the thick grass, though Kakuna held on with pained cries. “Kuuu….nnaaaaa…!” Then it wiggled back and forth until it was able to properly readjust it’s posture and fired out sharp, poisonous barbs from its shell to pummel the Squirtle on its exposed arms and legs. When the bug catcher realized how much damage his Pokemon had taken with one hit, his face dropped. “Kakuna, you gotta hang in there, ok? Think you got a couple more rounds of fight in you?!” The Kakunna chirped out enthusiastically, unwilling to give up so soon. Although the young lad was trying to act tough in the moment, thick tears dotted his eyes and threatened to fall down his cheeks. Sloshy's eyes bugged out in horror as he reeled back from the jab. He checked his arms in panic, wondering what that thing had just done to him. After flipping out for a few more minutes Sloshy sighed, realizing he was okay and this poison hadn't done something terrible to him. He cringed at the kakuna in disgust, reluctant to draw near enough to attack it again. His trainer still sopping wet and more than a little grouchy pointed at the enemy pokemon.
"Come on Sloshy! Hit it again! Don't tell me you wasted all of your water gun attacks on me!" Sloane snapped. Sloshy suddenly collapsed and started twitching. Sloane's scowl immediately turned to a look of concern and she rushed to Sloshy's side, kneeling down beside him. Her hands trembled over him, she wasn't sure what to do. "A-ah I'll find a potion! Yeah! Don't worry Sloshy you're gonna be all okay!" She searched through her bag and pulled out a bottle.
"Okay...let's see if this-" Suddenly a blast of water hit Sloane right in the face. Sloshy wiggled back and forth laughing soundlessly at the look of shock that came onto her face. Sloane stood and glared down at Sloshy. "Sloshy that wasn't funny you had me worried about you!"
Sloshy made a talking gesture with his hand and yawned. Sloane growled and cleared her throat. "Alright then funny guy, use water gun!" Sloshy reluctantly got to his feet and leaned forward to blast the Kakuna again.

The bug catcher stared in disbelief at how the girl and her turtle interacted with each other. Did she allow her Pokemon to act however it pleased? If he couldn’t even defeat this girl with her wild and rambunctious Squirtle, what hope did Wade have at becoming a strong bug type trainer like Bugsy – his one true idol? He tugged at the corner of his straw hat with one hand and snapped his fingers with the other. The tears slowly dripped down the sides of his face as the T-shirt and shorts wearing kid glared at his opponent with a newfound sense of seriousness and vigor. There was no way this rogue Squirtle, who enjoyed nothing more than squirting its own trainer and collapsing on the ground in a fit of laughter, could overcome their mighty duo. Right? …Right…?“Ya see that?” His voice cracked as the unwelcomed seriousness edged their way into his tone. It was a strange mixture of sadness, tinged with the taste of defeat that he wouldn’t allow himself nor his bugs to face, blending chaotically with a serious bit of determination. “We can’t let this rogue Pokemon and its trainer defeat us. Ok, Kakuna?” His voice became shrill as he choked back thick gobs of sadness and salty tears. The yellow cocoon waddled back and forth in a wide circular pattern as it chirped out a loud, “Kuunn naaaa.” There was no way his Pokemon would give up this soon. If Kakuna was ready to stare deep into the Beedrill’s nest and brave whatever onslaught they were about to face, then so would he. “Use Poison Sting on this untrained Squirtle. Let’s see if it can’t leave a mark this time.”Sloshy pulled in a huge pocket of air as he puffed up his face and prepared for his attack. The yellow cocoon stared silently at its opponent. What the Kakuna must be thinking was hard to tell. It stared at the would the same large, serious-looking pair of dark eyes no matter what kind of news it was given. The lively and animated Squirtle seemed its complete opposite in that regard. With a powerful blast of water, Sloshy knocked its Pokemon out. The Kakuna went flying backwards and skidded to a stop at the Bug Catcher’s feet. Wade wailed as huge waves of tears projected from both of his eyes like waterfalls onto the ground. He recalled his Pokemon. “WAAAHHHHHH! NO FAIR!” He cried and stomped his way angrily over to Sloane. “YOU BIG MEANIE! Why did you have to hit Kakuna THAT HARD?! Sloane looked up in confusion, noticing a sudden change in demeanor in the child. He went from being worried about his pokemon, to being very agitated and looking somewhat insulted. Sloshy proceeded calmly, not really seeming to notice the change. Sloshy's next attack managed to end the fight instantly. Sloane was prepared to try and say something in consolation, but the child ran before she could get the words out. Once again, Sloane had won a battle and made a kid cry. She looked at the money with a frown and sighed. Stowing it in her bag she looked at Sloshy. "What do you think he was upset about? He called you untrained but we've been doing pretty good..." Sloshy picked a few dandelions and blew them, waddling alongside Sloane as she walked. She looked down at her Squirtle with a frown. "You know I'm still mad at you from that stunt earlier." Sloshy made a grumble and folded his arms, looking away. Sloane was satisfied that he was at least taking this seriously, even if he didn't seem very remorseful. She held out his Pokeball. "You still did a good job in the fight Sloshy." With that Sloane recalled Sloshy and sent Butterscotch out. Butterscotch eyed her trainer with a glazed look in her eyes. "Hey, let's try learning that technical machine again! It sounds like a really powerful move." She said, pulling the device from her bag. She handed it to Butterscotch who sighed and began examining it, trying to memorize its information as they walked. Soon Sloane could see the lamps glowing in the dusk light. Dull purple houses in traditional Jhoto style could be seen, and a faint mist hung in the air. Sloane squealed in delight and did a little hop. "Butterscotch! It's Violet City! Any archaeologist's dream is to visit such a historic place! Come on!" Sloane started running past the lanterns, happily skipping down the cobblestone street. Butterscotch followed, dragging behind a little. She didn't take her eyes off the TM in her hands. To be Continued! (Sloshy will learn Bite in place of Tackle, Butterscotch will use the Shadow Claw TM and replace Fury Swipes.) Done -Tarlar
