If Trixie could focus long enough on the grunt, she would see him smirk, loving what he saw. He most of the time played by the rules himself, it was the easiest since then he knew what he could expect from his opponents, but if things dragged on for too long or he got intro trouble he had no problems abandoning it all and be unpredictable. It had the side bonus that his opponents often was caught off guard like Trixie had just been, and hadn't been prepared for something like this. His eyes flashed with worry for a moment when Trixie waved the egg around but luckily nothing happened as she collapsed on her side. He scowled, it was a bit risky having the price in her hands now. It could endanger his mission, and his reward. Citrine's accusing was enough to get the attention of the young zubat and break the waves it sent at Trixie. It giggled, "It's fun right? I'll show you!" If offered but got cut off as Citrine slammed it into the ground, where it made a single cough. The grunt was blind to his pokemon's struggles, "confuse that annoying fire type Zubat," he ordered, it was time for business. The zubat struggled up sitting and after a few tries to catch its breath it sent some waves at Citrine as well, who soon found her world swirling around too. The grunt smiled humorlessly when he saw that his zubat had been effective twice in a row, it was a high success rate, more than usual and he was well aware of that. He walked briskly over to Trixie and attempted to take the egg from her, in his mind the battle was over as both Trixie and Citrine was unable to battle and wouldn't be able to stop him from taking his price. "I should just have done this from the start, so much time wasted," he mumbled to himself as he laid his hands on the egg. If the Grunt thought he was getting away with an easy prize he was mistaken. As he approached Trixie on the ground, she stopped spacing out just long enough to see the man looming over her. When he put his hands on the egg she snarled, then spat right into his face. "It's my Easter egg! Find your own!" she screamed.
She wondered what kind of egg it was. Candy or chocolate? She gave the surface a lick and recoiled in disgust. How unbelievably foul! Why would they... actually, what was she... She blinked suspiciously, still glaring with teeth bared at the Rocket, as she slowly started to come back to her senses.
Citrine would not be so lucky and was hopelessly confused by the Zubat. Still determined to guard the egg, however, he launched himself off into another Tackle, hoping to whack the bat to the ground before he made a wrong move and ended up injuring himself.

"Argh!" The grunt exclaimed and swung at Trixie but missed as he staggered back and rubbed his face vigorously, "you filthy little..., you'll pay for that!" he shouted and made a disgusted face as he glared at her. How dared she? This should have been such easy task, facing a young trainer and she had been supposed to shake fearfully at the sight on him, handing over the egg crying and then go hide, while he went to claim his prize and drink the night away. Instead he had been spit on and his pokemon was getting beaten and he worried he was going to fail. He grabbed Trixie's arm and forced it away from the egg, he probably would have grabbed it if not Citrine had interfered. To the cyndaquil the world was a swirling mess. Why was the sky turning purple? And was it pumpkins he could smell? Did he even know what a pumpkin was? And why did he suddenly want to drink coffee and bury himself under a blanket? The zubat was still on the ground before him so despite not being able to walk straight he couldn't really miss. A stumble forward and the bat was knocked out, and his head began to clear. Just in time to see the Grunt throwing himself at Trixie and the egg, with a (tiny?) roar he threw herself at the grunt who staggered back. "Zubat!" He shouted for help as he did his best to fight off the enraged cyndaquil, but the bat was in no condition to help out. The grunt shot a glance in its direction and then clearly thought screw it and turned and ran off, Citrine followed for a bit but his goal has to get him off Trixie which had worked. The grunt took the risk to pause and recall his bat when he was at a safe distance and then he disappeared into the night. The road to the Lab was clear. Citrine pulled through the confusion and ended the zubat. She grows +1 level to [LV 13]! She can learn Quick Attack if she forgets another move.

The rest of the night was a blur.
Luckily the Pokemon Center was open 24 hours of the day, though it was certainly startling to see a young trainer stumbling in looking disheveled, covered in dirt, and clutching a Pokemon Egg to boot. While her team was looked after by the nurses, Trixie was given a cup of hot cocoa to warm her up, while she tried to relate her story in as coherent a manner as she could (not helped by the bizarre fever dream she remembered having in the middle of it). At the mention of a Team Rocket member, the local Jenny was called, and Trixie was gently coaxed into sitting through the incredibly boring process of filing a police report.
<...and then I lit his bum on fire and sent him running off into the night!> Citrine was telling any Pokemon who would listen. The Cyndaquil had recovered quickly, and was in high spirits. He had definitely proven himself in a battle on his own, not merely as some backup to one of her other Pokemon!
When that was all over and done with, she slept only a scant few hours before break of dawn, being in an incredible hurry to see Prof. Elm and show him the egg. Thankfully one of the Professor's aides recognized her as an assistant researcher, and she was able to obtain an audience with him right away. While she told him about the new entries that had been recorded in her Pokedex, the egg was sitting on his desk, waiting for an examination. "What kind of Pokemon do you think it will be?" she asked.

The assistant listened politely to what Trixie told him about her adventures but actually looked like they thought what she was telling interesting. He fidgeted nervously the whole time, perhaps he was just not that good with human interactions? He looked almost like a deerling caught in a headlight when she asked, and chuckled almost scared. "Oh, I don't really know miss, I'm rather new here and have just left school," he apologized and ran a hand through his hair, "the professor surely will though, and he should be here any moment!"They didn't have to wait long, Professor Elm came shuffling in with a lab coat over his pyjamas and with a steaming cup in his hand. He looked rather bleary-eyed and clearly wasn't really awake yet as he stopped in front of Trixie and the assistant and tried to catch up to what was going on. "Morning Professor!" The assistant said cheerfully and Elm looked at him blankly, "the lady has an egg from Mr. Pokemon which they hope you can examine."Professor Elm turned his head to look at Trixie in a uncomfortably long time, while the assistant began to fidget again and looked nervously between them. Then Elm perked a bit and a spark entered his eyes, "an egg you say? Where?"When he was shown he hurry to it and place a hand on it and putting an ear to it to listen to its inside. He smiled reassuringly to Trixie and his assistant, "it's warm and sounds healthy," he declared. He turned and went through a bookshelf and pulled several books from it which he began to flip through at the desk, comparing the egg to what he saw there and occasionally shake his head to clear it off his tiredness. "Aha! Here we got it!" He exclaimed and pointed in the not often used, thick book he had open in front of him at the moment. The assistant stepped closer, eagerly to see what the book had to say. "This is really interesting! I wonder how it had come here," Elm said, "it's a wooloo egg, a pokemon which comes all the way from the Galar Region. Ever heard of that one?" He asked. Elm left the book and stepped over to pat the egg a few times, the assistant took over the book and began to skim through the pages. Elm yawned and gave the egg another pat, "good luck with it," he said to Trixie and then shuffled out the door again, leaving his untouched cup behind. The assistant froze and then smiled nervously to Trixie. "I guess it is a wooloo egg then," he said and began fidgeting while he kept glancing between the egg and the door. It was clear he wanted her to leave with the egg, now she had gotten what she needed. Apparently the egg was hers now? Elm hadn't seem like he planned on keeping it, had Mr. Pokemon said anything about wanting it back? Your Egg is a Wooloo egg with the eggmove Stomp! "A Wooloo egg... A Galarian Pokemon?" Trixie blinked with surprise. She certainly hadn't expected that, how had it made the long journey across oceans to end up in Mr. Pokemon's hands? "I can keep it?" she double-checked with the Professor. "Thank you! I'll be sure to take good care of it." After a quick call to Mr. Pokemon to confirm, she set off for the Pokemon Center with the new egg in tow, the entire time looking up the Wooloo species on her Pokedex, to the detriment of paying attention to where she was going.
As she arrived at the Pokemon Center, she was deep into an online children's book about counting Wooloo to go to sleep. Come to think of it, she could really use a nap... She settled down into one of the Pokemon Center's hostel beds and was soon sound asleep.
