RUBY Ruby knew that he had to do something when the situation between the Rattata and the young boy was obvious to him. Since he had encountered his own father's wrath when he was younger and misbehaved or went against the older man's wishes, so he didn't want the young boy to go through the same things as he did. Ruby wasn't sure if Kiki would be able to complete the battle on her own, but with a Fake Out starting move the chances would be greater but it all depended on just how strong and what moves the Rattata would use, He gave the young boy a gentle smile when he looked up over what he had started with his psychic Pokemon to gather up the crisps, then his normal Pokemon to start the battle. "Just sit back and enjoy the show." Ruby knew he would have to go all out in this battle but he doubt other people would believe the young boy over how strong he actually was. Kiki giggled at herself over the Rattata charging at her only to be smacked by her tail. "You shouldn't anger the wild Pokemon." Ruby sighed slightly since the young boy reminded him of himself when he was younger and actually enjoyed battling. "I am not that strong." He looked at his normal Pokemon. "Kiki use Tackle." Kiki knew that she was slower than the Rattata but she charged forward and attempted to slam her body into the wild Pokemon.

And I was told not to feed the wild pokemon. It's bad bad bad. If you feed the wild pokemon then the wild pokemon might get mad at you when you run out of snacks or attack other humans for snacks and it's bad for everyone so I know not to do it! So so so I put away my snacks I was eating but I accidentally knocked out another bag onto the ground, because you see mama packs me chips in my lunches and I didn't eat my chips yesterday so I had two whole snacks! Extra snacks are good for when you're extra hungry. But when I reached down to grab the bag, the rat ran up and tried to steal the bag and I knew it was bad to let it have it so. Um. Yeah. You know the rest."

The boy blinked up at Ruby, sniffing and rubbing his face.

"And you are strong. You're like...a grown up. Grown ups are stronger than kids..." 

To a child, even a teenager looked like an adult.

RUBY "I didn't mean about over the crisps." Ruby slapped his face gently as he thought about how best to explain to a young child what he meant. "I meant more of you telling the wild Rattatta to 'take that' when Kiki tackled it. That is very true as you need to give Pokemon certain food otherwise they will become fat like a Snorlax and won't be able to battle properly. Like a Pidgey or another flying type Pokemon being to fat and unable to fly." He lowered his hand from his face. "You mum is very wise to teach you that from a young age." Ruby glanced at his bag as he thought about Lulu who he hadn't used in battle and knew nothing about it yet, not even what sort of food it liked to eat. "Why didn't you leave the second bag of crisps at home for when you got back from where ever you were going?" It was a simple solution and he wondered about the answer. He let out a sigh as he didn't know how to deal with the sniffing young boy. "I am not that strong. I am just lucky that Kiki knows Fake Out that will always flinch the Pokemon so it can't attack on the first turn, I also got extremely lucky that the Rattata has become infatuated with Kiki so this might be an easier battle than I had thought." Ruby looked at Kiki. "Kiki, use Tackle again." Kiki charged forward and attempted to slam her body into the Rattata.

"Oh...w-well it was being mean. Not like it would be nicer if I said nice things," he mumbled. He wiped his face, "But um I had the extra chips in my bag because they're snacks and extra snacks in my bag are bestest when I'm not at home. If I am at home I can ask mama for a snack but when I'm not at home then mama can't give me a snack." Perfectly logical to have multiple snacks in his bag. Clearly. He wiped his face some more. "Um. Is fake out the slap thing the skitty did at the start? Why does it make pokemon flinch? Why is it lucky that the battle is easier because the rattata is in-infat-in fat-dated with skitty?"

Aaaaand here was the outpouring of innocent questions from the boy.

On the battlefield, the rat was staring at the skitty adoringly, tail flicking back and forth cutely. 

<You're really cute~> the rat awkwardly flirted in a disarming fashion. <H-hey now! DO we have to keep fighting?> It tried to avoid being struck by the love of its life, but alas, Kiki barreled into it with a fury.

RUBY "You should treat others how you expect to be treated. So if you treat a wild Pokemon nice and with respect then you should be treated with kindness and respect, or in the case of the Rattata it is a mean Pokemon or it is just playfull..." Ruby rubbed his chin gently as he was deep in thought. "... so it either expects to be treated badly or it expects you to play with it?" He did have to wonder which option it was, but he couldn't help but to notice that it could be the same as his pink normal type Pokemon. "But if you keep on eating extra snacks then you won't get healthy and you will become slow that will make you easy picking for trainers and wild Pokemon." Ruby didn't want to say that the youngster would get fat since it wouldn't be a good confidence boost but he still needed to get his point across. "Yeah Fake Out is the first attack that Kiki used. She has a tendency to chase her tail for some reason..." He shrugged his shoulder slightly. "I have no idea why it makes a Pokemon flinch. The battle is easier because when the opponent Pokemon is of the opposite gender then it falls in love with Kiki but it is only a chance, then I might not attack because it doesn't want to injure her." Ruby explained it as simply as he could. He looked at the wild Pokemon as he wondered if it would be able to attack his Pokemon or not. Ruby smiled gently since all the Rattata had done was used Tail Whip and didn't cause any more damage to Kiki. "I know I am." Kiki winked at the Rattata enjoying the attention she was getting from her opponent. "I will do what ever Ruby wants and he wants this battle." She launched her attack at the wild Pokemon. "There is one way to end the battle though." Ruby pulled out a poke ball and threw it at the Rattata. The Pokemon egg cracks all over as what looked like a single Grey hair poked out the top of the egg.

Rattata's chances of winning this battle had fallen to almost zero by now but as Ruby took out a Pokeball those odds plummeted even further. To make matters even worse even if it could break out Kiki was in a far better state and could easily outlast the rat Pokemon should it push it's luck too far. It was stuck between a rock and a hard place with neither choice being ideal. The choice was quickly made for it as the Pokeball Ruby had tossed sped towards it as it remained focused on Kiki out of desperation.

As soon as the Pokeball flew towards Rattata there was little doubt how this battle would end as Rattata was quite tired. Though standard Pokeballs were not the most powerful choice Rattata were not known for their escaping skills either and right after the Pokeball scored a direct hit between the rodent's eyes Rattata was sucked inside the ball. After three quick shakes the Pokeball clicked shut bringing an end to the battle. As it came to an end Kiki grew stronger from the experience while the Rattata would have time to rest and recover from the battle.

Kiki gained 3 levels and is now level 10. She can learn Attract but already knows 4 moves. Would you like her to forget a move so she can learn Attract

RUBY Rara glanced at Ruby as she sensed the emotions radiating from the Rattata, it seemed that it was scared of what ever the trainer was planning to do but was more afraid of what Kiki would do if it would fail. He saw the poke ball in her trainer's hand and knew what he planned to do. Rara turned back to watch the events enfold to see what would win the battle, the poke ball or the strangely colored Kiki. Kiki looked on disappointed when the Rattata was sucked into the poke ball as she was enjoying the battle even though she wasn't exactly strong but she did have some what of a advantage. Ruby remained where he was as he waited to see what the result would be, since he didn't want to get ahead of himself only for the capture to fail. He heard the familiar click signaling that the capture was successful so he walked over to the poke ball and picked it up. "Welcome to the team, Tata." Ruby used his Pokedex to send the newly caught Rattata to his PC. He then continued to walk on as he decided to move on to the next place to continue his journey.
