I've always been the type who likes to play God in my games. And as such, I've found myself absolutely in love with all the HM series. :3 I've heard that the Rune Factory series is similar though I've yet to play it.
So, anything like it?

"God"? I never considered Harvest Moon to be a game where you take the role of God... Spore, on the other hand, yes. You get to customize exactly how the critters in the game look. And I've always considered Sim City to be more along the lines of that as well when it came to disasters. Build up a huge, thriving city and then what is the first thing you do? ALIEN INVASION

Rune Factory is definitely much in the vein of Harvest Moon what with it being divulged from that series. There's also a futuristic one for the PSP called Innocent Life or something which although I haven't played, is another offshoot of the series. I think it was dubbed A FUTURISTIC HARVEST MOON. ;D Only other suggestions I can say that come close are Animal Crossing and perhaps Little King's Story. That has some similar elements to Harvest Moon I guess.

I deff. looked up Rune Factory, and happened to find more games in the HM series I wanna try out. Next paycheck though. Anyone remember/have heard of the game creatures? Real old game, I remember having it for the PS1.

I've not played all that much of Rune Factory but from what i've seen, it's definitely an interesting take on the whole HM franchise. There's quite a few now with 2 on the DS, one for the Wii and a third one being released soon for the DS. The Wii one is meant to be pretty good although if anything, i'd say go for the first from what I know. As for your point about Game Creatures... Hmmm! The name vaguely rings a bell but I can safely say I don't think I played that one.

D: You can't say you've played it? D: *dies a little inside* It truly, truly is the best game... /ever/. D: It's so old though, as I said PS1 old. >_> That was like a decade ago. I know they have an online version, if I could find a decent link for it, I'll show you. m-m;
As a side note, my man is sitting here, looking over my shoulder and judging me. >_> He says I'm a nerd.

If you really want to play God, play The Sims 2 or Black & White. They are great games where you are literally in control of almost everything.

I've been in love with the HM Series since I was in 2nd grade, so it's great to know that I'm not the only one on here who plays them!
And it depends on exactly what aspects of HM you want in other games. If you're like me and like the dating sim and social aspect, I would say go for Rune Factory Frontier or Princess Debut.
If you like the whole farm idea, then.. Play Farmville on Facebook or something... I've never played it, but you grow things, right? So what's the difference?
PS: Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar is being released for the Nintendo DS at the end of this month, and I believe Rune Factory 3 is being released October.
