Figure this might make for a smile or two (And as an act to amaze the oblivious).
How about we list all the Pokemon with puns in their names?
For instance
ArticUNO ZapDOS MolTRES
Uno, dos, tres!
As for a newer one
Garbodor = Garbage + Odour.
I keep bringing this one up because a person I remember was insistent that his name was a pun of garbage and luchadors... Hm. Yeah. Nah. That's totally wrong. How in the 'ell does Garbodor resemble a luchador?

Roggenrola - Rock 'n Roll Boldore - Boulder Gigalith - Monolith Seems to be I guess. I'm actually quite fond of the name Roggenrola. Could make for a cool band name in the world of Pokemon. Actually... That's one character i've not seen being roleplayed. A rock star or something.

Vulpix.
"Vulpes" is Latain for "true fox". And, of course, six: The number of tails a Vulpix has. So combine the two words for Vulpix, which can pretty much mean "fox with six tails".
And I don't think Ho-Oh was really so much a pun for a forwards and backwards thing. However, a Pokemon no doubt of that joke would be Girafarig. Not only is the name the same either way, but look at the anatomy of the Pokemon as well. Has a head on either end.
