Bugsy nodded at Marchbaby's choice. " I see nothing wrong with using items. There are no clauses in the gym challenge handbook. I shall definitely make use of this free turn however." A huge beaming smile came across his face as he figured he had just been given an opportunity he could not pass up upon. As Marchbaby used the item, his loyal Shocker was bought back to life and seemed to draw its attention over to the Scyther. There was now a deep animosity held against it and the Magnemite Pokemon was raring to make its way back into the ring. Hooty on the otherhand was looking less than chirpy. Despite March's promises about making it up to him he knew this next shot was going to kill if it was anything like the last one it had been hit with. As it shut its eyes tightly, it nervously awaited for the hallowed words from Bugsy's mouth. By this time, Bugsy had pretty much planned out the next move and seemed incredibly confident in doing so. " I thought back to earlier when you said you weren't going to forfeit on a lucky critical." He grinned happily as he announced his plan. " What if Scyther didn't have to rely on luck but that of a higher critical hit rate? Sounds good, right?" He thrust his bug catching net forward and adamantly passed on the order to Scyther. " Scyther! Focus Energy now! We need to get you pumped so you can take down that oversized magnet again!" Scyther's face grinned callously at the thought and with that, it tensed its entire body and began shouting out loud. Had this have been a rerun of Dragon Ball Z it was almost foreseeable for Scyther to suddenly sprout a huge oversized blonde hair do and have a bursting aura around him. Instead, it's loud yell came to a halt and the Scyther's overall demeanour was now a lot more focused. Marchbaby could be in for some trouble now Scyther had a better critical hit rate. Gym Battle

{OOC:More like Steroid abusing FTW Scyther now with that Increased critical rate. Also my best hope now is to both get a critical hit and paralyze that thing in the same hit. That would slow it down enough for Shocker to go first and get a second Thundershock in and just maybe bring this fight back in my favor. Anyways thank you for the reply Joey.}
IC: Marchbaby was shocked to see Bugsy not use an offensive move but instead use a move in increase Scyther's critical hit ratio. He knew this was bad news. "Well that kind of ruins my plans since now a Critical hit is even more likely. Marchbaby said watching the now pumped up Scyther knowing how devastating a critical hit could be. He knew the last time Shocker got hit he was knocked out albeit part of the problem was that he was already wounded. "For now I cannot afford to switch Shocker in since it would cost a turn and I do not know if he can even take a critical hit with full HP so for now I will have to stick with Hooty." He said knowing the poor bird had stood it's ground once and now must do it again.
He knew Scyther was faster than Hooty so there was little chance his pokemon would get to attack but it would be for nothing if he sent out Shocker now and he got hit with a critical hit. "I know the odds of you even getting to launch another attack are slim to none but at least by staying in there I will not lose a turn to bring Shocker in since if a pokemon is knocked out you get to send out a new one." Marchbaby said as he tried to come up with a new plan. "If Shocker fails my only hope is Bud's Stun Spore but it does not have very good accuracy so I will have to hope it hits since Paralyzing that Scyther is my only hope of beating it." He said as his head started to pound. " Since the rules allow for a healing item to be used instead of an attack I am using a potion on Shocker and will have to prey it can take a critical if it should occur." Marchbaby said preying that when Shocker did come out he would have better luck knowing an attack from Hooty was futile.

Bugsy's face was rife with amusement. He was experiencing the familiar feeling of a trainer misjudging the effectiveness of the Bug type. Granted, he still had one Pokemon left that wasn't supreme fighting champion but Scyther was deadly in battle and had felled many an inexperienced trainer thinking they'd waltz in and squish whatever Bugsy had to offer. Nevertheless, Marchbaby was using his head and that was something Bugsy could appreciate. " Good! Most trainers don't think things through as thoroughly as you do. It's nice to see a bit of planning." He presented his bug catching net and continued his speech. " I liken it a lot to bug catching. Sure you can go rampant and just wave your netting in each and every possible way but that doesn't always net you anything good. For the really rare species of bug, you have to get into their mindset. Observe every move and habit they do. You..." He moved forward and smiled. " ...Become the bug." As March administered the potion to Shocker who was still raring more than ever for round two against the oversized praying mantis, Bugsy considered what his best choice of action would be. " I may as well put his Hooty out of its misery... There's no use doing anything else..." Scyther slanted its eyes to Bugsy's location and patiently awaited an order; despite the fact it knew perfectly well what was coming next. Bugsy had closed his eyes and with a definite nod, confirmed Scyther's suspicions. " Scyther! Strike fast with Quick Attack! We need to clear the battlefield for your second round with the magnet." Scyther let out a loud cry and instantly disappeared from everyone's line of sight, only to appear mere seconds later in front of Hooty. The owl looked up sadly but closed its eyes shut as it bravely stood its ground. It went into battle knowing the risks. Gym battles were not pretty nor were they a cakewalk. The main thing that the Hoothoot had in its mind was the fact March had considered it a worthy fighter and it had done its best to please him. The appeal of healing up for a couple of days afterwards in a nice comfy bed wasn't too unappealing either. In the time it took the owl to think things through, the slice had already been dealt and with that, Hooty fainted. " You next Pokemon if you please. Although, i'm pretty sure we both know what you're going to be sending out." Spoke Bugsy with a tone of authority not too surprising given his standing as a gym leader. Deep down, Bugsy was fretting over whether or not Scyther would hold out against Magnemite. It was too hard to pick a clear victor. Gym Battle

Marchbaby watched as Hooty went flying across the room after being nailed by Scyther. The Bug had put up more of a fight than he had anticipated since he overlooked it's technician ability. "I must admit Bugsy you are a lot stronger than I first gave you credit for. That Technician ability is a real challenge to overcome. " He said as he turned to face the gym leader. "Hooty you did a good job Shocker managed to regain most of it's health thanks to you taking a hit for the team and have earned a good rest."He said as he called back to Owl pokemon that was barely alive. "I must admit I though that the way the battle with Kakuna went this would be an easy fight but your Scyther has proved otherwise." The young trainer said knowing as long as Scyther could battle he was in deep trouble. "My best hope is to either get a critical hit or paralyze that thing with your Thundershock Shocker." Marchbaby said as the magnet pokemon moved itself from beside Marchbaby where it was being headed back into the eyes of the overgrown flying mantis.
He then turned back to Bugsy trying to get him to make a mistake. "The only good news is that I still have my starter in the event Shocker does not have the strength to bring it down." He said trying to make him use U turn instead of Quick Attack so he would be forced to switch his pokemon and give his team a much needed break. "I still cannot believe how powerful that Scyther is and it surprises me that it has yet to use a Bug type move to take advantage of a bonus for being of the same type."" He said still trying to trick him into the drawback effect of U turn which would be a huge help in turning this fight around. "Anyways now that Shocker has been healed quite a bit he is ready to fight yet again." Marchbaby said as he looked at the Gym leader.
With how this battle was going Shocker really needed to get a critical hit here. Marchbaby knew it was his best shot of winning while Paralyzing that ninja mantis was the next best outcome. "Alrighty Shocker use Thundershock. If we ever needed a critical hit or paralysis to occur it id right now since that is the only way you stand a chance against that overly hyper mantis with it;s boosted critical hit ratio." He said as he preyed for either a critical hit or Paralysis to occur.

Bugsy watched as Shocker came veering into sight, tenacious as ever and relishing the chance to take on the fearsome opponent that was Scyther once more. " I'm sure this will be electrifying." Joked Bugsy who was doing his best to hide his fear of Scyther losing. It was a beast and a half in its own right but it wasn't invincible. As its trainer, Bugsy wanted Scyther to do as much damage as possible without getting hurt itself in the process. An impossible task in the world of Pokemon battling. Marchbaby's constant suggestions to use a particular move in Scyther's arsenal were also weighing heavily on the gym leader's mind. " U-Turn... I think the time is near for it to be used. If I use it too early things will end up in his favour. When I said about my trump card I wasn't referring to the Pokemon... It was the move. I need to think carefully." Swinging his net forward with confidence, Bugsy decided on his strategy. " Hang in there Scyther! For now you're still healthy so if we can get lucky...! Use Quick Attack!" Bugsy seemed to have a bead of sweat roll down his forehead as he was equally praying for a critical as was Marchbaby for his own Pokemon. The praying mantis vanished and appeared in a sequence of sprints forward and eventually appeared in a lightning flash above Shocker as it came hurtling down towards the floating magnet, its arms directed with the deadly blade facing downwards. It scraped against the steel and Shocker was pushed backwards by the sheer force. Bugsy looked forward with a gasp, had it landed a critical? No! It hadn't. Bugsy tutted and shrugged. " Can't always have it my way." The blow was glancing and it seemed Shocker was resolute not to die so easy this time around. Before Scyther could retreat, Shocker had already began charging up electrical energies to let loose on the mantis. It swivelled its magnets connected to its body around while the screw on its head delved in deeper. The aura around it was now that of an intense white before it focused the energy it had built up towards Scyther. A lick of electrical power zapped forward and hit against Scyther, causing it to reel in agony, its back wings fluttering around as if unable to bear the excruciating pain. The smoke rose off of Scyther's body but the deadly mantis seemed to still be in the running! The shock was painful but it had managed to block out most of the pain with its scythe like arms. Scyther gave Shocker and March a snide smirk before dashing back to Bugsy. Bugsy was relieved that the damage dealt was nothing too special. " Phew... I was getting worried there. It seems like my Scyther and your Shocker are of equal footing." He looked at Scyther's wings and fell a little sad. " Oh, that's a shame. You've slowed him down a little... Still, if the going gets tough I can make a hasty retreat." Gym Battle

OOC: Just to be clear, Shocker was revived, bringing back 50% of its HP (48/2 = 24) and you used one Potion (20 + 24 = 44 = 92%) so although it got hit, it had some small damage regardless at beginning of turn.

{OOC:Thank you for the reply Joey hopefully my plan works out and he either uses U Turn or that thing get's paralyzed.}
IC: Marchbaby watched Shocker closely and it was hit by quick attack. It did hit but against all odds it was not a critical one which may just prove to be a small ray of hope in this battle. "Thank you lady luck this time luck was on my side for once but I still need a lot more luck on order to beat that Scyther." Marchbaby said as Shocker looked at him. "I will admit that when it gets a critical hit Scyther is dangerous and although it is also powerful without one it is far less so without a critical hit." He said to the gym leader knowing that he had at least gotten his attention after bringing up U Turn since Marchbaby knew that if he tricked Bugsy into using it he would force him to bring out his other pokemon and he would have to wait until it was knocked out before Scyther could come back and fight. "I know how much you want to use it's signature move I know you hate resorting to using quick attack since it only does a lot of damage when it gets a critical hit and as the last round shows if it does not Scyther will suffer dearly for you trying to press your luck to far instead of taking the safer option." Marchbaby said trying to use Psychology against the gym leader to force him into a fatal mistake.
"Not only do I know that is part of your strategy but I know you also cannot bare seeing Scyther take so much damage in one hit knowing you can at least protect him for a little while using U Turn." He said keeping up his mental game trying to use Bugsy's soft side against him. He then decided to take things a step further by using the threat of a status condition to add to his arsenal of mental tricks. "All it will take is a single hit that results in Paralysis and Scyther will go from a Speedy fast pokemon to a pokemon that can barely move which would make it that much harder to win." Marchbaby said as he knew he was at least making the gym leader think about using his best move.
Marchbaby knew that if he used U Turn he could heal Shocker fully and that it would also allow him to use Bonecrusher to finish off Bugsy's other pokemon so it could level up and learn Metal Claw. "I already know that you loved watching Kakuna get knocked out since it did not have an escape clause but Scyther does giving it a chance to avoid Shcoker's next attack." He said as Magnimite started preparing another Thundershock. "Let's show him the error of his ways for not using U Turn when he had the chance by using Thundershock again and try your best for either paralysis or a critical hit or even better both." Marchbaby said as he hoped for the best this round.

Bugsy looked to Scyther and noticed the lean, green, killing machine was acting a lot more agitated this round than those previous. Having commanded Scyther for most of Bugsy's illustrious gym career, he knew full well what was going to happen next. " There is so much more to battles than just who is tougher. You need to take in so much context... And at the end of the day. Luck is probably the biggest disruptor of them all. It's a trainer's biggest fear but also their greatest hope. Funny how something can be so double sided." Not wanting to delay things any further, Bugsy was confident a critical hit would be landed. " GO! Quick Attack!" As it had done before, the praying mantis made itself almost invulnerable as it used its unrivalled speeds to close in on Shocker. It aggressively swiped a hit with its huge arms and was yelling out angrily as it did. Shocker had tried its best to prepare for this onslaught however. While it was waiting in the sidelines, it knew full well the Pokemon was amped up on its ability to strike in a critical weak point. The stubborn Magnemite held its ground and did everything it could to cancel out the pain. Scyther eventually relented but had lose its coolly arrogant demeanour. The fact it had not fallen angered the bug to no end. " Ahh!" Gasped out Bugsy. " I was sure that would have felled it..." Because of this, it meant Scyther was in for another session of shock therapy. Building up the charge inside its body, it jolted out a line of thunder that shocked Scyther's body furiously. The pain was so indescribable that all it could think of was wishing it was never part flying type. Bugsy seemed concerned at this point, the trusty Pokemon of his was now in bad shape. This was before the Pokemon took advantage of its held item. Plucking it out from its secret stash, Scyther gluttonously ate away at the Sitrus berry and let out a sharp roar as it finished it, replenishing its stamina. Bugsy let out a sigh of relief but realised the battle was now shifting into March's favour. " I gotta U-Turn NOW!" Was all the young gym leader could think. Marchbaby's reverse strategy seemed to be doing the trick. As a gym leader, Bugsy should have known better but he was also still that of a child. Seeing his favourite Pokemon being battered was pulling at his heart strings. Gym Battle

Marchbaby could not believe his eyes another critical hit but this time Shocker had managed to get back up. It took a lot of damage but it still got off it's Thundershock. The attack seemed to be quite painful as it let out a huge roar of pain. He then watched as it ate the berry it was holding. This was part of his plan as now there was no more healing options for Bugsy. He then started to laugh at the gym leader. "You just exhausted your only healing option for your best pokemon and I still have potions, Moo Moo Milks, and Revives for mine you just made a huge mistake not using U Turn." He then looked at his poor little magnet pokemon.
Shocker was in terrible pain but it still had a little energy left. As dangerous as Scyther was the loss of it's berry was a blessing for Marchbaby knowing all he had to do was knock it out now. Of course with it's heightened Critical hit ratio this was easier said than done. The Good news was Marchbaby had plenty of healing options and he also had a few more pokemon that could replace Shocker if needed. "That was a pretty big mistake on your part and now Scyther will soon learn from your mistakes." Marchbaby said as he grabbed a Moo Moo Milk out of his Bag.
:This ought to prove quite useful Shocker here drink this Moo Moo Milk."he said as the Magnet tried finding a way to use it. "It may cost a turn but it is worth it to see him back at full health again." He said as Shocker somehow drank the Moo Moo Milk. "Do your worst for your only hope now is to get dual critical hit's and even then it is not guaranteed to knock out Shocker.
He then waited a moment before he continued his sentence. "As soon as you use your free turn Shocker here will get another chance to zap your Scyther unless you use U Turn on your free turn then your other pokemon will take the hit instead but Scyther at least would be safe for now." He said trying to pull the Gym Leaders heart strings even further.

Bugsy considered the perplex issue before him. He did indeed have a free turn to himself to bring about as much pain as possible but was outright offence always the best option. Matters were weighing heavily on the young lad's mind. " As much as I hate to admit it, this challenger has a good point. The Pokemon is a pain to bring down thanks to its added steel protection but..." A smile crept over his face. In the last free turn he had, he upped the critical hit rate to his favour. This time, he would use it to hinder Magnemite's awesome defensive abilities. " You know, I should thank you at this point. You've really driven home how defensive your brilliant Pokemon is." Closing his eyes and thinking through all he knew about Bug Pokemon, he realised he could adapt his knowledge to other types as well. " There's a lot of Bug type Pokemon which boast Steel type defences not too dissimilar to your Shocker. Forretress, Scizor and other recent discoveries. Their bodies have evolved to the point where would be predators who try to attack them are shocked to find their attacks just bounce off. I've studied this over and over." Opening his eyes, he made clear his plan. " But despite their iron hide defences, even that can be brought to a moot point given the right move." He commanded to Scyther his move. " Scyther! Leer down the opponent in order to make it unsettled and hopefully make it lower its defence for a vital opening that we need!" With a roar, Scyther honed in on the sturdy Magnemite and leered down at it with its intimidating eyes. Shocker had been determined to keep a resolution of steel in order to vanquish this overgrown bug but that look of leer was almost too much for it, the magnet Pokemon seem a little rattled and lost a bit of confidence in itself, resulting in its defence faltering. Scyther smirked at the result and began sharpening its claws by running them along against each other. " My duty as a gym leader dictates I need to make battles as challenging and strategic as possible to test your ability as a trainer. To achieve this i'll use whatever moves my Pokemon have in their arsenal!" He was right, by now the gym leader had used his entire list of moves. Stomping the end of this bug catching net on the floor, Bugsy extended his hand towards March. " Your move, challenger!" Gym Battle

{OOC:I really am hoping for a critical hit with this next attack.}
Marchbaby was shocked again by the gym leader's choice to lower his pokemon's defense instead of attack. That meant that Shocker kept all of it's health despite the fact that Bugsy could have taken out almost half of Shockers health in the free turn. To one extent the lowered defense was bad news since now Shocker would take more damage but at the same time a critical hit would still now be enough to knock it out in 1 hit even though he knew that hit would put Shocker in a lot of pain. " I must admit I am shocked at how well Scyther is doing against a steel type pokemon despite it's type disadvantage." He said praising the Scyther's speed and power. "That Technician ability is amazing turning Quick attack almost into a Dragon Rush attack with it's boosted power." Marchbaby said as he looked at Bugsy's ninja fast pokemon that despite being shocked so many times refused to stay down. It was amazing to see how much damage a bug type pokemon could take from a type it was weak against.
"Another thing I am shocked about is how much damage Scyther can take and still get back up no wonder so many have had a problem with your's." He said as he looked over at Shocker again. "Even Shocker here has never had to fight anything that strong especially when it had a type advantage." Marchbaby said as he watched his little steel type fly around. "I can honestly say this has been my hardest battle yet even with a type advantage." The young trainer said still having a hard time believing how much energy Scyther had. "The only good news is that I have yet to use my starter and I plan on using it as a last resort but I still have plenty of pokemon left if Shocker goes down.. Marchbaby said as Shocker grew more and more angry at the bug that refused to die no matter how many volts of electricity it put into Scyther. At the same time Shocker knew the bug was getting tired from all the damage it had taken and Bugsy may be forced to use U Turn soon in order to protect his favorite bug.
"I still cannot believe how much my team has struggled against Scyther but it is only a matter of time until it get's knocked out now." The cocky trainer said as he hoped Shocker could take just a single critical hit despite it's lowered defense. "One good piece of news is that Scyther cannot use it's Technician ability with U Turn however that move is pretty powerful but I have faith Shocker can take one critical hit." He said as he preyed for the best and prepared for the worst. He then knew it was time to attack again and Shocker already knew what was going to happen he was going to be told to use Thundershock again. Marchbaby knew Shocker had already predicted the next move but he ordered it anyway."Shocker use Thundershock again." Marchbaby said as the little Magnet stored up electrical energy.

Time was something that was beginning to weigh heavily on the gym leader's mind. " You're right, it will only be a matter of time before one of us is finished. Even if it does end up being me, I am going to make this as challenging as possible in order to prove your worthiness!" A small genuine smile spread over the plucky youth's face. " I'm pretty sure by this point you are worthy but by giving it your all you and your Pokemon learn new things about yourself! I'm sure you'll walk out of this gym with a fresh new outlook on things. And that is what I like to call a metamorphosis. Just like my beloved cocoons." Defeat was something Bugsy had suffered many a time but it was never something that took over his life. With every loss, he figured that he could learn something new from it and train to overcome that difficulty. This battle was bringing a heap of new things to consider. Looking to his own Pokemon, Bugsy gave the praying mantis a nod and discussed his own plan while Marchbaby conversed with Shocker. " Hang in there Scyther, just a little bit longer and we'll turn the tables. If we can just drain that magnet's health enough for Metapod to whittle it down, we'll have a chance yet." Scyther gave a curt nod and glinted its eyes back at the discomforted Magnemite. " Scyther! You're giving it you're all but please for at least one more round, Quick Attack again!" Scyther roared and with a lightning fast sprint, ended up to Shocker's side of the arena and unleashed a furious blow to the magnet. As it had been leered it had slashed at its new weak point. The lack of normal defence made this attack hurt even more. " Great job, Scyther! Now cover yourself quickly!" Scyther didn't need telling, those electric shocks were beginning to take a toll on its brain from being fried. Shocker unleashed its voltage and coursed Scyther's body with a few jolts of electricity. For now, each Pokemon was evenly matched with the next round being totally open to claim victory over the other. " I bet you'll think twice the next time you step into a gym, am I right?" Beamed Bugsy. He was playing a very risky game keeping the Scyther out but it was paying off. Gym Battle

{OOC: Just for the record.<flaming> I REALLY HATE THIS GUY AND HIS SCYTHER</flaming>. I really wish Shocker was a Magnezone right now or Bonecrusher was an Aggron just to squish this little pain in the ass. Even a Salamence would work nicely. Anyways for the love of all that is holy please left him use U Turn}
IC:
Marchbaby could not believe his ears Bugsy still refused to use U Turn despite him trying to mess with Bugsy's mind. He was glad to see that Bugsy's attack did not score a critical hit however although it did do a lot of damage. He was not to keen on pressing his luck further than it could go so he decided switching to another pokemon would be the best option. "You have fought wonderfully Shocker but it is too risky to keep you out there let's let Bonecrusher have a turn so you can rest."Marchbaby said as he called back Sh.ocker. He then grabbed the Ultra Ball containing his shiny aron and threw it where Shocker had been floating. "You seem to have overlooked that I have two steel type pokemon on my team and this one resists Quick attack twice as well as Shocker did." He said trying to scare the Gym leader who had made a misjudgement allowing his Scyther to stay in for so long. "He does not even have to knock Scyther out all he has to do is not get Ko'ed in one hit and I can heal Shocker yet again or I can let him have a few hits on Scyther and then bring out Shellshocker and drown Scyther with Water Gun." The young trainer said knowing that he was gaining the upper hand.
"As strong as Scyther is it is outnumbered and too weak to keep fighting much longer."Marchbaby said as his shiny aron glared at it's foe. "I know when my pokemon have reached their limit which is why I have switched out Shocker for Bonecrusher so it could take a break." He said laughing at Bugsy for not taking advantage of his pokemon's move. "U Turn would have given Scyther some kind of a rest while metapod took it's place but instead you decide to keep pushing Scyther preying it can keep going when it is already in bad shape." The cocky trainer said as he looked at Scyther which had started to breath heavily due to it's injuries. "Just look at it now how it can barely stand after all the electricity has flown through it's body it is lucky to still be alive." He said knowing his pokemon had done a number to the bug pokemon. "I do admire it's bravery but bravery usually ends in death once you go too far and Scyther has almost reached it's limit."Marchbaby said as his pokemon wanted to ram it into submission.
"All you have to do to protect Scyther is use U Turn and let a fresh pokemon take it's place instead of pushing it overboard."He said trying to bring the gym leader to tears. "I guess that it will be a shame when it has to be knocked out for it's trainers incompetence." Marchbaby said as he started to laugh. "Unless of course you are willing to forfeit then you could also protect it but that would just make you a coward." He said as he hoped to end the battle soon. "I look forward to knocking it out and proving how little you truly care about it."He said mockingly to the gym leader.

At Marchbaby's outburst of speech, Bugsy couldn't help but feel he had struck a nerve. Scyther was a fearsome opponent but the green demon had truly gotten under this trainer's skin. Listening to every word that March had to say, Bugsy closed his eyes and nodded at the end of every sentence March had to say. It was clear he was frustrated but the way he had just spoken to the gym leader did not sit with him at all. Bugsy glared at March and with a stern look of disapproval about him, Bugsy responded back. " Firstly, i'd appreciate it if you wouldn't keep spouting out how I should be running my gym. If you weren't aware the sign outside says i'm the gym leader and the fact you're getting so antsy about my tactics shows I know my stuff. If you think i'm just going to hand this to you, you're sorely mistaken." Pausing for a moment, he considered the last words that had been used so spitefully against him. " Usually I don't pay attention to battle jibes like that but your last words of incompetence and cowardice really are amusing." He poked his bug net in the direction of March and shook his head. " I would say you're the incompetent one, having not trained your Pokemon well enough and then sending them out to face me thinking you can overcome us with resistances alone." Pausing again, Bugsy considered his next words. " It is as you said, Scyther is outnumbered and yet he is trained so well he has so far fended off everything you've thrown at him." Pausing, he smiled, knowing that everything March had said was entirely untruthful. " And if we want to talk about cowardice... We're all guilty of it. Aren't you the one who just sent a poorly trained Aron in front of me so you can heal Shocker? I'd take a good look at yourself before you try critiquing others." Losing respect for this overly arrogant trainer, Bugsy had decided what would be best. This Aron did boast some remarkable resistances over Bugsy's Pokemon but problematically for March, it had not been trained to that good a level to take advantage of them. " Okay Scyther. I think it's time you did rest up. Not because Mr.Challenger over there says so... It's because I have made up my own mind." Looking to the already damaged Aron, Bugsy commanded his move. " Scyther, U-Turn!" Scyther had been awaiting this move for a long time. It was a special technique it had devised with Bugsy and performing it but happiness to the praying mantis's heart. With an extremely swift dashing forward, there was a curved slice aimed at the little steely beast and with that, Scyther seemed to retreat back to the safety of its ball with a flash of light. Unfortunately for Bonecrusher, Scyther had decided to make one last use of its heightened critical hit rate and had left a painful parting gift with it. The U-Turn had been so crushing its power, it struck a critical blow. Waddling around on the spot, it eventually keeled over and passed out from the force of the blow. Bugsy looked at the fainted Pokemon knowingly. He had worked out from his countless hours of observation of studying Scyther's battle prowess that U-Turn would be all that was needed to finish off the opposition. The critical strike only sweetened the deal. Gym Battle
Bugsy's Scyther | Level 24 | Health : 37% ( 28/75) Status : Normal; Critical Hit Rate Stage II Back on the scrap heap y'go Bonecrusher | Level 14 | Health : 0% ( 0/42) Status : Normal ...
Now Scyther had been returned for a spot of rest, Bugsy picked out his last remaining Pokeball and chucked it up and down as he looked to March. " I'm warning you here and now. Confidence is great but don't let it take you over. Your Aron just fell prey not to my Scyther but your own arrogance that its resistances would help it survive." Tossing the last Pokeball forward, a rather stiff green cocoon appeared forward and remained immobile on the spot. " Okay, Metapod. Let's not slack! We need to make the whole team proud!" Although immobile, it seemed to struggle with itself to move slightly in acknowledgement. It may have been unable to move easily but it wasn't going to hand March a free victory. Gym leader Bugsy has sent out Metapod (Level 19) Please select a Pokemon to replace Bonecrusher.OOC: Just to be sure, it's never a good idea to beg the person moderating you to do something. I know you may have been saying as a plea to some higher order for it to do it but it can be viewed as trying to order a moderator. Nevertheless, it did U-Turn but don't think that's the end of things!

{OOC:Sorry about that I have just been hoping for something besides Quick attack since it was getting a little repetitive but now it should be pretty interesting. Thank you for the reply Joey.}

"That set's me back." Marchbaby said as Bonecrusher went down in one hit. The good news is that Scyther would not lose it's boosted critical hit and Bugsy had to switch pokemon. The metapod that appeared did look strong but it did not seem to be quite as strong as Bugsy's Scyther. He knew after fighting Kakauna looks were not everything and he was prepared to fight a pretty strong opponent. He then grabbed the pokeball containing his starter. "I did not want to use you against anything but Scyther but Shocker is too injured and Flare is too low of level so it looks like you will have to go out earlier than I would have hoped." He said as his Wartortle appeared in front of him. "You are my overall strongest and we need everything we have left to stand a chance with Bugsy still having Scyther as a back up." He said to the turtle pokemon. Marchbaby knew that whenever Bugsy sent back Scyther it was going to be a very tough fight again but Metapod was no push over either. "This has been a lot harder than I had originally expected and now I must make sure to raise you guys more before we challange another gym leader." He said to his Water type knowing that the level differences had outdone his pokemon resistances and had caused his team to be far less effective than they could have been. He knew his comments had angered the gym leader and that he was in big trouble if he did not come up with something soon.
He knew he was going to need the revives and potions he still had if he was to have any hope of beating the preying mantis. He then looked over at Metapod and remembered he was fighting a trainer who was far stronger than a bug catcher could ever hope to be. He also knew that unlike most Metapods Bugsy's could have already evolved into a Butterfree but for some reason it had not done so. He was just glad that his team would get a break from Scyther. As long as Metapod was out he knew he could heal Shocker but he did not want to use a turn yet. Instead he wanted to attack the pokemon now while he had the chance. "Go Shellshocker use Water Gun on Metapod." Marchbaby said as he waited to see the outcome of the first round.

Bugsy laughed at the change of pace. " This'll be a nice change of scenery. As much as I love my Scyther, it'd be a shame to let him hog all the spotlight. I'm glad you did the same and sent out something else. You do have quite the assortment of Pokemon." Deep down, the change of Pokemon was a huge sigh of relief for the young gym leader. The more he could get Marchbaby to swap them around, the more he could confirm that there weren't any more nasty surprises awaiting him. " Good, I was expecting a Beldum or something given how much this trainer likes his Steel Pokemon... When Metapod falls, Scyther will be able to take that one out no problem." Behind the smiling emotion on his face, it was a stark contrast to his analytical personality. " I'm going to have to get back into thinking in the slow lane now i'm back with a cocoon Pokemon... Let's see, hm!" Shellshocker wasted no time in enacting out March's orders. It may have been stashed away for most of the battle but judging from the thick tension in the air, things weren't going as planned. Heaving out its chest as it inhaled a mighty gasp of air, the turtle Pokemon lurched forward as a forceful jet of water streamed from its mouth and soaked the Metapod. Despite its power, the resilient cocoon merely stood there, not budging an inch or betraying as to what its emotions were. This was one cryptic customer. As the stream died down, Bugsy's face could be seen full of delight. " Nice shot! I'd be worried but..." He narrowed his eyes down on Shellshocker, as if trying to divulge something. " Aha. Knew it! Your Pokemon has a tasty berry on it. Y'know what this means Metapod! Bug Bite!" Metapod cried out with a deeply low moan and zipped forward, using a similar method of transport that the Kakuna had used before it. Somehow, this cocooned Pokemon was going to bite away the Oran berry Shellshocker had on it. As it slammed into the Wartortle, a raucous sound of munching was heard and the Metapod then quickly retreated back. Shellshocker had obscured the view but somehow this Pokemon was able to eat the tasty berry. As it fell back on its position, it seemed to be smiling at having its HP restored. Bugsy clapped happily. " Nice one Metapod!" Looking back to March he shrugged. " See? Another act of incompetence. If you knew me so well you'd have done the wise thing and removed your berries before facing me. Either way, live and let live with the mistakes, eh?" He chuckled happily, both of them were now pretty much even with the trash talking. Gym Battle
