I know for a fact that there are several members on the site that play alot of the same games like Monster Hunter Tri as a small example but I'm actually curious about something else. While a lot of these games are electronical are there people out there who still play the old school paper and pencil Dungeons or Dragons, or play it with the help of a computer program.
I'll be the first to admit that I love the fantasy storytelling and the interactions you can do with friends and NPC for a campaign. Heck before the school year ended for me I was managing a campaign with a group of my college buddies and I can't wait to start it back up again. So yeah, is there anyone else who does this with friends or am I the only one?

Your not the only one mate. My friends and I use to play back in school. I don't anymore but we should get back to it for old times.

That seems pretty cool, did you DM or were you a player? I mean, there have been a few times where I wanted to go back to being a player but with my college buddies they love the storytelling I provide and the 'patience' I have for some of the less-experience players we have.

Ya I get that. I have been playing D&D for a while. I am trying to get back into it actually. It is just hard with my schedule. But your not alone. I have been a player and DMed plenty of times in the past.

First off I have never played 4th ed which is where those terms became more common but as for me I like playing what u might call controller as my PC's are usually more tactics driven

So something that was more magic base instead of a physical base like a fighter? I think the last time I played as a character I was fighter class the last time I did it. But then after that it was DM out the Wahoo... T-T I miss being the player.

A D&D thread in Zz?! well know I know where my first post returning will go. I've been a D&D player for six years at least, and always a dm. My friends can't keep it together to dm for anything in the world. So it always returns to me, I play 3.5 converted to pathfinder also played D20 modern/Future. The rare occasion i get to try playing I like casters, though I often branch out and multi class to give me a little bit of front line fighting. For those of you amongst us who play online roll20.net/ is in beta and works wonders! it's a free no downloads or anything. My friends and I have tried it and it works awesome voice chat built in and it's free! for the most part, I think when it's released you can buy maps or pay for additional upload space for your own content.

Well first thing I have to say is good to see you again.
And I have to say, the roll20 could be helpful for me with my college buddies I think I'll have to try it out later but I do have to ask, how did you usually play out your campaigns. Currently right now, I was in the middle of having my players play crime investigators and I was going to have a lot of skill challenges in the close future for them.

haha thanks, and you as well.
MY D&D tend to be more of a sandbox style game, I'll pull out a setting and some encounters a story line that will move forward with out without. They can be a important part of it if they want or go and be all willy nilly. I like to give them choices, and work out things as we go, currently I'm gearing up for a survival campaign in a dying world, where scavenging and bartering will be important, along with crafting skills to repair things that are damaged and make use of them.

Hmmm... that's pretty cool. I'll admit that currently right now for my storyline, the characters live in a world where some of the evil gods were sealed away but I had the idea of an organization that is currently trying to revive one of the gods in a mortal Avatar state to lead and dominate the world. Of course right now the players don't actually know that, they think they're just going after a lich.

So I did make an account on that roll20 site, and I will admit... it's a lot more complicated than I thought but I do know that this could really be useful for me so I have to thank you Phoenix for leading me over there.
But yeah I will admit the original course they were taken was that they were investigating the kidnapping of the local town folks as punishment for harassing the local people and the sheriff. It's kinda sad but the two times I've DM for these guys the first on their list is to harass the sheriff in the first town. Plus it there's a Bandit 3, they always save him for last cause they want to mentally scar him.
