... Hmm... How do you define Dungeons and Dragons? Well I guess the first thing to say is that it's a table top game, originally using paper and pens for recording but has evolved to a digital medium for easier management. It's a fantasy RPG, and there isn't an actual storyline behind it, that is up to the Dungeon Master (DM) who basically acts like the staff here on the site... managing encounters and driving an entertaining story for the players. But players have most of the control in the direction that a session can go and the DM has to adapt to the situation.

Awwww! It's a tabletop game? Really? Guess I'll never get the chance to play it then. I don't know anyone that will play tabletop games with me.

Well that shouldn't discourage you from seeing if someone willing to play online through a medium like the roll20 Phoenix mentioned or something.

D&D takes a bit of learning and such, but it's fun role playing. There are many forms of virtual table tops to play over the internet, finding a group online shouldn't be hard at all, and they would get you set up if you actually cared to learn about it. Just be prepared to need a microphone, most GOOD groups rely on it because trying to manage text speak live with 3+ people as a dm F-ing sucks, I've tried and never again will I.

Lol that's pretty funny Phoenix, I'll need to keep that in mind when I get a group together or I join one later.

the first game I was in lasted, for two sessions before the DM had school issues and couldn't play so I started Dming pretty much right out of the game. I don't remember how long it took me in order to get used to playing, I think only a session or two. Rule wise, well... certainly took me longer I learned through playing and looking things up as we needed them, even as a DM I wasn't very rule wise when I first started.

For me it was kinda hard to get used to the rules. DD was the first tabletop game I ever played. Though it turned out to be rather fun a friend of mine is coming back to town from being overseas's in the army and we're getting a game together with everyone.

While I much prefer the senario involving real people at the table, online is an acceptable substitute, online programs also allow for something VERY useful, line of sight. Which means if somthing is blocking your tokens (on the virtual board) vision you REALLY are unable to see what is behind whatever is blocking your sight. it's actually really nice and fun (for the dm muh ha ha)

I would be interested in that, but we would need to figure out a few things, like who would the DM be, what medium would we use, what system and what setting. Then we can do a D&D recruitment thread.
Also J if you were the DM, how would you not know what was happening? curiously I ask because you as the DM would technically BE what was going on.

It was my first time ever trying to play DnD, no one else wanted to DM a game so i decided i would, but i was extremely confused the entire time we played.

That...sounds terrible I'm not gonna lie haha, you have to learn to be a player before you can be a DM. Honestly that is a terrible idea to start as a DM, I can see no way for it to be good, though I guess if you had no choice... I started DM-ing after two player sessions but by then I had a firm grasp of what the heck I was doing. (not so much rule wise mind you, but I managed to keep it together pretty darn well)
