It would help if we had an apricot. Age and the kind of relationship u guys have. Also it could help tellingus what ur friend likes for hobbies and fun.

Earrings are a good way to go if her ears are pierced.

I know that with customs and sending things across seas it can be really hard. I think any type of jewelry would be sed. Maybe a couple of cute little tourist suveniours from england, cheesy things. I'm 17 and know that I really enjoying getting hilariously funny and silly little nick nacks from friends that have to do with something we've done. Like for instance in my birthday gift from my Best Friend she got me a deck of cards because we would always get extremely bored while at our county fair and need had a deck of cards. So maybe something cheesy like that xD

I think Megan has a better idea in that regard. Remember that Jewelry is more for relationships and by that much more serrious then u are describing. I think something more fun that you both can relate to would be much niceer. Girls like things that have value outside of money much more often. THough the cost of something can be important not in this case between friends. You need to find something that you know she would like that would allow her to think of you when she sees it or uses it.
Since you said really you two dont really hang out you just talk on line, maybe get her something that reflects the fun you guys have online. For example it is not extremely well known but my closest friends know that my favorite Pokemon is either Dragonite or Scyher a flush doll of one of those would be a cute silly present that I would love to get form a friend shows that they have taken the time to get to know me and at the same time want to show that they appriciate my company.

I still stand by what I said. I think she would like something more sentamental then jewelry. I am not a girl, but i have known plenty of them. Ya they like the Jewelry...but something from the heart that is meaningful goes much further 9 times out of 10

Being a boy, as you are, I can see how you would reach that opinion. For you, giving girls jewelry would be romantically orientated.
But trust me, girls giving their friends/sisters cute, fun, every-day-wear earrings is sentimental. Every time they wear it or get compliments on it they think of the friend who got it for them. ;)

I talked with Lex about this, and as she states it is fine to send Jewelry, and I take back at least the whole relationship thing as I misread and thought u were a boy sending to a friend that was a girl, but never the less getting fun nicknacks from any friends is fun for me and they always hold sentamental value. Sorry Lex did not mean to disregaurd your idea.

Try getting something from England that your friend will love for years to come.

Urgh, there's good stuff in England lol? A scone? Tea set? :3c
I'd personally go with Lex's idea of earrings or just jewelry in general. When it would be one of my mates birthdays coming up, I would always go into somewhere like Claire's or Accessorize to look for something nice. Depending on the area you live, perhaps there is a really nice, unique shop who are just separate from those bog standard chain shops you could visit.
But, then it depends on her. Like what others have said before me. I would say I'm really girly, so throw me any shiny jewelry and I'll be over the moon but if she isn't all that bothered, then there isn't much point. But if you want to incorporate the whole England theme then do you have places like Asda or Tesco close by? They are doing really cheesy, cringe worthy England style accessories, or I hope they are still selling them. (The quality is actually really nice but... Nah lol. Maybe she would like it?) I know similar, £8 or less versions of Diana/Kate Middleton's rings are sold in certain places, if she likes the Royal Family? Otherwise, drop us a few more hints about her interests. My sister really likes Anime/Manga so thats what I often get for her. Joe really likes Video Games, so I get that for him.
Besides, I cant actually think of anything "England-y" which springs to mind, either. I literally just pester people until they tell me what they want lol. Surprises are always tricky.

I dunno if you have any sort of markets or gift shops but the only other thing I can really suggest is maybe a charm of some sort? I know that's a bit vague but maybe some sort of bracelet or dreamcatcher or whatever.
