Sniffingly her way through the city of Goldenrod, it must've looked weird for a girl to actually have a cold in the middle of Summer. Truth was, no matter where she dashed off to train or complete a mission, a dark rain cloud had been following her and because of that, she fell into the open arms of the vile common cold. Having a free day, the brunette had decided to do a bit of window shopping but it wasn't clothes at the end of it all which had caught her attention. Posters were stamped all over the place about the opening of a Bug Catching Contest and for some reason, she found her feet traveling towards the National Park on the edge of the city. She wasn't a huge bug fan but she didn't hate them either, this was just a mere chance to get her old trainer senses tingling instead of being cooped up in the Rocket base all day. Following the triangle paper flags which were strung along the many lamp posts leading to the entrance, Sharada readjusted her summer attire before stepping through the doors and into a foyer of the gate way house.
Merely passing through with the aide of numerous signs, a small sneeze escaped into her cupped hands as she exited back out into the open. Eyes widening at the sight of the Azalea Gym Leader, Bugsy, getting his stage all ready. Walking forward, she joined on the end of the line where two girls were already standing. A really beautiful auburn haired girl and a sweet little blonde, then appearing to her right were a couple of blonde men. Not really having enough time to look at either of them properly, her icy blue gaze was taken forward as Bugsy began his speech. Missing out on the sight of a certain familiar face creeping in late, Sharada's mind was instead reluctant on the idea of handing in her Pokeballs. She knew exactly who she wanted to use but at the same time, couldnt bare the idea of running into something huge and therefore putting Greil in danger. Sighing, it was far too late now. Depositing the rest of her team, the brunette wasn't all that keen to hang around. If all the other contestants wanted to be friends and introduce themselves, it was up to them, she just wanted to do a bit of searching in peace.
Collecting the odd balls which were specially designed for this event, Sharada immediately dashed off in one direction, hoping that no one would follow. Wading straight into the tall grass, her eyes darted around. "Bugs are usually in trees right? Gah..." Releasing yet another sneeze from her bunged up nose as some pollen tickled her senses, she continued to waggle forward, eyes looking down at Greil's ball. Pausing, she felt by now things would be okay. She didn't want anyone else to see her blind, tail-less friend. Tossing it forward into the grass, the light of light eventually faded down into a pink Slowpoke, a confused yawn escaping his jaw. "Greil." Her voice spoke calmly, even if it was a bit weird due to her nose, "We're in some bug contest, let's just use it as a bit of bonding time, eh? Dont worry, if things get tough, we'll be running." Scooping the heavy creature up into her arms, he seemed to burrow his head tiredly against her shoulder. The two actually hadn't been in a fight as of yet, so hopefully competing in this would dish her some simple opponents.

The sunny day at the park had brought many trainers right into the lovely home that for the most part, belonged to the bugs. It had been warned by its friends and family to stay in the oak tree and hide with them, but this brave little Beautifly, well it was actually looking for a fight. The risk sent gleeful shivers through its body as it thought of all the fun to be had today. None of the bugs were ever sure why so many trainers came around this time, but they knew that all of them were on a catching spree, something none wanted to be a part of. Maybe Beautifly was trying to impress its friends, family, or significant other, that was unknown, but it wanted a fight. Then, it spotted Sharada and Greil. Well, what luck! Barley out for three minutes, and a trainer had already appeared. It wanted to fight her, but that seemed to be up to the trainer, because if she were to run, then she probably wasn't worth its time anyway. It flew down and circled her, letting her know that it was a battle that it was after. ______________________________________________________ Warning! A wild Beautifly (Level 14) has appeared to challenge you! Fight or Run?

Walking through the grass with Greil in her arms whilst looking out for a possible opponent was hard work in itself. But it wasn't his fault, he couldnt really see anymore and senses would only get the slow creature so far. Her large blue eyes continued to dart from left to right as she used her spare arm to pull long clumps of grass to one side, only to sigh in return of finding nothing. Right now, she could hear battles echoing all around her, she even thought she heard a familiar high pitched squeal what belonged to a certain Roselia. Alas, maybe a blinded Pokemon scared other bugs off or maybe they could smell the bad news on the brunette. Sighing once again, she patted the back of Greil as he unleashed another subtle yawn before turning on the spot and moving in a different direction. "C'mon little bugs... Huh?"
Feeling her Slowpoke heavily tap her shoulder, the brunette turned her head ever so slightly, only to blink at what floated before her. "Great job Greil!" So whispered enthusiastically, it had been him who pointed the Pokemon out afterall. Watching with a look of wonder as the Beautifly began to flutter magically around the duo, Sharada rested her head on Greil's gently. "The Pokemon is a Beautifly, Greil. It has beautiful multicoloured wings and a long curly, needle like mouth... Want to give it a shot?" Cautiously placing the Slowpoke down, he seemed to itch the side of his face lazily. Obviously worried, Sharada knew that if things got too bad, they could always retreat but for now, it was time to battle. "Okay Greil, use Yawn! Let's try and get that bug sleeping!" Since already being naturally tired, it probably wouldn't take too long for the feeling of sleep to rub off onto the Beautifly.

Unsure as it watched Sharada usher in Greil while going to such lengths to explain what its own appearance looked like, the Beautifly was confounded at first until it realised the wraps around its eyes were most likely not actually part of the Pokemon. It was difficult to say given the fact it had never seen such a creature before but it began to wise up to the fact it may very well be blind. Watching as it stood there without motion, the Beautifly fluttered away in almost complete juxtaposition with how fast it was beating its wings to keep itself aloft. What was this strange Pokemon? Making a small shrug with its diminutive body, the beautiful butterfly that was a similar native to Hoenn just as Sharada was decided that it would initiate the start of the battle. Maybe Greil was one of those Pokemon who needed a good nudge to get the ball rolling. Speeding up the speed of its wings, a visible gust started to breeze forward in Sharada and Greil's direction. The attack was starting to get more powerful but amazingly Greil didn't seem all that respondent to it. It was only when the Beautifly forcibly swivelled around its wings as if uppercutting that an overwhelming force of wind banged into Greil, dealing some damage... Although, it was hardly that noticeable given his zero reaction. Instead, the Slowpoke lazily opened his mouth and let out the most infectious yawn to have ever existed. Finding itself yawning, the Beautifly was completely and utterly lost at what this battle had provided so far. Wild Battle

With Greil now out of her hands, Sharada took a cautious step backwards. She wanted to be close enough to collect Greil if the worst happened but at the same time, didn't want to get in the way. He was blinded but it didn't mean he was incapable. Noticing the battle was now underway, her eyes darted up to see the Beautifly, finally taking in it's appearance fully. She wasn't particularly excited just because she knew they were fairly common over in the Hoenn region but it didn't mean she wasn't impressed by it's beauty. In fact, she was a little interested in capturing it but at the moment, she wasn't completely sure. Raising her arms suddenly, the bug type Pokemon began flapping it's wings, kicking up a flurry of wind. Remaining silent and trying not to worry, her squinted eyes glanced down to Greil, he seemed to be holding on just fine. Or atleast until the Beautifly actually slapped a blast of wind directly at him, his pink body shaking at the impact.
"G-Greil!" Her worried voice couldnt help but leak out, only to be responded back with his simple yawning. Atleast she knew one thing, he could hear her commands loud and clear. "Great job!" She praised her partner, noticing the Beautifly was a bit unsure of what even happened. But now wasn't the time to dawdle, she was going to injure it a little. "Now Greil, use Psychic!" Sharada was pretty clear she heard the rules correctly and maybe an injured Beautifly wouldn't assure her a win. But again, winning wasn't exactly an issue here, it was just a bit of spare time and this was keeping her busy.

Still phased by the fact this Pokemon seemed frozen in time, the Beautifly decided it was time for another show of its powerful wings. Although they were decorated with many beautiful markings and patterns they weren't simply just for show. Floating mid-air on the spot, its wings began to flap back and forth repeatedly until they became a faint blur against the green grass behind it. As it did, the wind once again picked up and with a powerful thrust forward, battered all who opposed in its path. Unfortunately, this just so happened to be Greil who had no sense nor awareness of what was unfolding around him. Not only was he slow like the rest of his species but he couldn't even see! A truly unfathomable situation to be in if there ever was one. Nonetheless, ushered on by its trainer's cry, Greil responded almost instantaneously to Sharada's order. Like a child following through with what a doting mother commanded, Greil used his inner psychic abilities as his body had a faint outline of a powerful aura circulating around him. Not even bothering to move, Greil used the psychic landscape to effectively see around him. Noting where the gushing of wind was coming from, he reached out with the power of his mind and grasped the Beautifly. To think this fragile creature was the one causing all this ruckus. With a stronger focus, Greil tossed the Beautifly into the ground repeatedly before letting it go. Having used up most of his psychic power for the time being, it meant there was little use in forcing any more out. Thankfully however, they wouldn't have to bother. A sudden yawn escaping the Beautifly's mouth as opposed to that of a cry of agony, the Pokemon slumped to the floor ungracefully and was sound asleep. Yawn may have been slow to work but it was a sure fire way to dose people and Pokemon off alike. Wild Battle

Sharada braced herself for Greil to be hit by another attack from the Beautifly first. Crossing her fingers in hope that the yawn would indeed take effect, she was hoping her precious Slowpoke wouldn't suffer too much in this next turn. Raising an arm to shield her eyes once more, the brunette felt her locks of hair flutter back as yet another strong gust rippled in front of them. Hearing her partner release a more pained grunt, she lowered her arm once again and called out to see if he was alright. "Hang in there Greil, just a little bit longer!" Being naturally slow to being with, understanding his emotions and if he could handle another hit was so much harder than her other team members. Watching all this was so worrying but if she made him strong and enhanced his psychic powers, then he would easily be able to look after himself aswell, despite being blind.
Clicking her fingers, she ushered Greil to fulfill his order. The Slowpoke not finding the need to move merely focused all the energy in his mind, Sharada's own eyes being able to see the attack clearly. It was actually quite fearsome, the poor Beautifly looking around in a state of confusion as it body was forced up and down in the air. Then finally, what Sharada had been expecting, happened. Yawning tiredly, Greil mimicked the bug by yawning aswell yet only one of them actually fell asleep. Watching as the bug flopped to the floor and fell into a deep sleep, the brunette hoped that this would be a good enough time if any to try a capture. Picking out a special Sports Ball, she enlarged it with a click and warned Greil. "The Beautifly is asleep now so let's try capturing it! I think we can do this!" Tossing the object forward, her eyes followed as it tore through the air. Even if it was asleep, Pokemon were strong creatures and it could still possibly break out. But for now, she had to just hope it would stay inside.

Soaring through the air, the Sport Ball wasted no time in homing in on the sleeping Beautifly. Given how vulnerable it laid there, it surely wasn't going to put up much of a fight being captured. As the ball opened up upon making contact, it covered the Pokemon in a red light before scooping it up inside as it bought it closer with a shrink to the Pokemon's actual size. Clasping shut as it finished, the Sport Ball tumbled to the ground and made a metallic thud upon impact. As it began to roll back and forth, a sudden boom from the megaphones exploded. "THERE WE HAVE IT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! Sharada Sewell has made her first attempt at conquest with none other than a Beautifly! Will she triumph? Will she fail? The tension is all too much!" Despite the announcer's uncertainty, the ball continued to rock back and forth determinedly. Once... Twice... Thrice...

As the Sports Ball tapped the head of the slumbering Beautifly and drew it inside, the brunette couldn't help but jump as a bit of commentary rumbled through the surrounding megaphones. Pausing and looking around as they seemed to be talking about Sharada herself, her cheeks turned a little pink. Where were they watching her from? Scratching at her cheek, poor little Greil seemed to have a delayed reaction, only just jolting slightly in his place on the ground. Not able to go and retrieve him just yet, Sharada gulped as her eyes swayed from side to side, watching the rocking ball carefully. Chances of it staying inside were low, her face flinching as if expecting it to pop out at any moment. But amazingly, the ball paused and clicked successfully. It had taken a while but she had captured her first bug!
Rushing over excitedly, she knelt down and lifted the ball into her hands, shoving it into her belt pocket before moving to Greil. He wheezed quietly upon feeling Sharada's arms wrap around him and lift him up, a soft voice whispering to him. "Beautifly was successfully captured, Greil! Great job, I'm really proud of you. ...Say, let's go look for the next Pokemon. Beautifly is nice but I am positive there are more. You can handle it, right?" Carrying on with her walking, the brunette received another delayed reaction from her Pokemon, a simple nod indicating from him that he was fine to carry on. Smiling cheerfully, Sharada moved towards a patch holding a group of trees, not quite going all the way inside incase anything nasty was in there.

Although she didn't have the courage to step too far into the circle of trees, it would prove to be a mistake all the same. Waltzing right into the centre would have merely hastened the inevitable in unfolding. Considering this contest had a huge variety of bugs available to hunt, it wasn't all too surprising that they could be found in all forms of environment. There were bugs who had mastered the art of flying and used the free open space in the air to gracefully manoeuvre about with their business. Others, the vast majority, were confined to slinking about on the top of the land through blades of grass and branches of trees. However, there were some who preferred a much more damp and confined space to live their lives in. Burrowing their way furiously underground, bugs were so versatile and adaptive that they were able to near enough go their lives anywhere. It was up for debate whether Sharada would be fortunate or unfortunate enough but her next encounter was going to be with the very same type of Bug last explained. Not all of its kind like to burrow but in this specific creatures case? That was ALL it knew how to do. Using its massive horns as a means of tunnelling through the under, it was almost as adept as a Diglett was in burrowing through the dirt. Of course, being underground meant that it heard everything from the world above with an almost amplified quality. Noting the sound of footsteps over in the distance, it decided to head towards them. Uncertain whether it was engaging with Sharada as prey or as an interloper on its territory, the tunnelling beetle grew closer and closer until it decided to savour the excitement of the hunt. Focusing itself upwards, the Pokemon scurried up with an incredible force and it wasn't long before the Pinsir came crashing out of the ground, sending all manner of dirt in every conceivable direction. Landing before Sharada, it let out a gruesome screech that was arguable forcible enough to make even the most foolhardy of trainers flinch in desperation. Clashing its pincers together, the beetle had made its entrance. Encounter

Holding tightly onto Greil, Sharada curiously stood on the tips of her toes, peering around from left to right, trying to look up between all the foliage. Another gentle creature like Beautifly was mostly wanted, even a little cocoon that wouldn't mind playing victim would be nice for a while. Rubbing the back of her Slowpoke as he released yet another tired yawn down her ear, the slow creature seemed to pick up on something. Due to his nature he wasn't able to warn his wandering trainer in time. It was like his psychic senses could pick up on the burrowing Pokemon immediately yet he was far too slow yo just open his mouth. So instead, he remained still and silent in her arms, the brunette being none the wiser. "Hmm, doesnt seem much lurking around in there. Let's walk somewhere else... The megaphones have been blurting out so many encounters from other people, we're really behind." Placing a foot forward, a sudden rumble from deep beneath the ground caused her to think otherwise.
"W-What the heck is that?!" She questioned in a frenzied panic, at first mistaking the rumbling for thunder. Little did she know it was something far worse. Spinning on the spot with a horrified expression plastered across her face, the brunette's blue eyes focused on some strange monster she had never seen before. Feeling her bottom lip tremble, her feet staggered back to create a bit more space between the two, her very own scream echoing from her lips, even if it was over powered by the sheer volume of the Pinsir's own cry. Not able to take her gaze from the overly large spiked pincers which sat upon it's head, the only idea which popped in her mind was to run. Her little Greil couldn't handle such a monster, surely?! "W-What the heck have they been feeeding the bugs in this damn park?!" She cried out, feeling her hair stand on end as the pincers clashed together. But poor Greil, it was only then that the Slowpoke pointed to the ground, as if warning her that something was on the way. Unfortunately, Sharada took this the wrong way.
"H-HUH?! YOU WANT TO BATTLE THIS?!" As he withdrew his paw, Sharada was highly unimpressed. He had already suffered enough scars, would the Pokemon be able to last up against such a beast?... Or maybe Sharada was being too motherly and not letting Greil prove himself. Unsure, she sighed and placed the Slowpoke on the ground, "Be careful of it's large horns, Greil." She warned. Immediately thinking it would be best to stick this thing to sleep, it was obvious what move Sharada was about to order. "Greil use Yawn! Brace yourself for it's attack, buddy! I'll heal you up if things get nasty!" Sending a warning glare over to the Pinsir, she was still scared but would willingly stick herself on the front lines to protect her own Pokemon, too, even if the idea would be ridiculous.

Angrily staring down Sharada and her Pokemon, the Pinsir decided that it was indeed in the mood for a fight. If other bugs and humans could respect not trespassing on the territory and this one couldn't, then it meant that some punishment was in order. And the only kind of punishment a Pinsir liked to dish out was through the use of its brutal twin horns adorned to its head. Snapping together with unrelenting malice, it seemed that the Pinsir's pincers not only helped it dig but to wage war on its foes. Noting that the wounded Slowpoke was up for battle, the Pinsir couldn't help but twitch its weird maw as if in surprise. The Pinsir was used to facing off against all sorts of dangerous foes and it had this mere scrap to contend with? Shrugging, the Pinsir stomped its feet on the floor before ramping itself up for a fight. Continuing its stomps with a determined stride to the Slowpoke, it gradually picked up pace as it lowered its head, transforming into a full fledged charge. Appearing not to be scared, Greil merely stood there and let the angry stag beetle pick it up. Now at the mercy of the sheer crushing power of the bug's pincers, it was going to be a terrible wait in finding out what would happen. Looking up at its caught prey, the Pinsir began forcing its pincers together, clamping down shakingly until they relaxed and tried again once more. All the while, Greil merely hung there, his legs drooping without a hint of pain. The pincers were obviously doing damage but something was off, they didn't appear to be slicing right through the Pokemon's body. Starting to get angry, the Pinsir swirled its head around before dumping Greil back on the ground. It had decided it needed another look at its prey to work out what it was. However, as it did, Greil merely looked up and with a well rehearsed yawn, affected Pinsir who staggered back, its mouth gaping. Wild Battle

Still unsure about letting Greil fight this beast, Sharada became frozen on the spot as it's ugly maw began wriggling about. What a foul looking creature this bug was, she honestly couldn't remember it being on the leaflet for this competition. Or maybe it was so deep on the rarity scale that she hadn't bothered to look. Now at a major disadvantage due to not really knowing anything about this brute, all she could do was wait and see what it could perhaps dish out. Obviously it was going to use those large horns at some point, soon becoming apparent as it shrugged and began stomping forward. Taking a small step back, the brunette grimaced. Greil was slow but he was obviously aware something was close by. But natural reaction had caused Sharada to call out the obvious, "It's coming up to you Greil, leaning forward... Hang in there buddy! You can survive this!!"
As if the poor Slowpoke hadn't already suffered enough with pinching and slicing, here it was once again, the large pokemon lifting him up between it's horns and beginning to clamp down. Biting her lip and reaching for the Slowpoke's Pokeball as her eyes watched his legs limp weakly, she thought things were nearing the end. About to return him and just run, the brunette was instead left with a bit of a pleasant surprise. "H-Huh?" The Pinsir wore a bemused expression, easing itself forward to drop Greil back onto the ground, who remained still at first before slowly rolling back over. Blinking, Pinsir appeared to be just as confused as herself about it's opponent but she didn't want to give it a chance to slice him in two again. "Now Greil, let's go for a Psychic! That thing is looking sleepier by the second!" Upon that order, Sharada went into her Sport Ball supply, picked one out and enlarged it with a simple click. If she could force it to sleep and do a bit of damage, then surely it would get inside. It would mean losing the precious Beautifly but this... It was almost Rocket material.

Unbeknownst to Sharada in the previous round, the only reason as to how the Pinsir's vicegrip had failed from slicing the Slowpoke into two was the fact that Greil had used his powerful telekinetic psychic abilities to apply some much needed resistance. Having only suffered a null gripping pain, Greil was still able to fight on. Unluckily, the Pinsir had since recovered from the yawn blasted in his face. Pumping his long skeletal arms at his sides, the Pinsir sent out another terrible cry that pierced the ears of all those around it. Clashing its pincers together in a highly aggravated manner, it was still puzzled deeply over how the hell such a soft and flabby creature could have withstood such grievous punishment. Leering its eyes as it felt the vicious grip of its pincers once more, the Pinsir knew that the pink mammal was playing dirty. Stomping on the floor with an incredible ferocity, the park grass seemed to give way as it delved underground. Obviously it had built an extensive network of tunnels in the underground and was going to use this to its advantage. Trailing around with a slight quake to the ground, it was next to impossible to work out where it was headed. Had it been going for Greil, it would have been a lot more noticeable. Instead, the quakes seemed to die down as they grew in distance... Had it fled? "Well this is a turn up for the books ladies and gents! The Pinsir that Sharada Sewell was attempting to engage with has disappeared und-BZZZZZZZZT!" As the commentator was speaking, a sudden disconnection or interruption caused the speaker to blow. Seconds later, it became all too clear. As if lifting up into the air, the lamp post had been forcibly unearthed from its grounding. The cause? None other than the Pinsir. Using an improvised vicegrip, the beetle had chosen to use its vicegrip on something it knew that wouldn't cheat. Crushed between its pincers, the Pinsir let out another cacophonous screech into the air before swishing around its head, using its arms on its knees for support. Gaining enough momentum, the Pokemon performed one more revolution before slinging it on top of Greil. The attack connected and caused a fair amount of shock to Greil's system but as the lamp fell, Greil had looked up. With an envelope of psychic energy around the lamp post, the Slowpoke had decreased its kinetic transfer, meaning the impact was nowhere near as bad as it would have been. Shoving it to one side with some difficulty and headache, Greil sensed around his environment telepathically for where its enemy stood. Pressing on to envelope the Pinsir with a faint pink aura, the Pinsir tried to resist as it was picked up off the ground and then sent flying towards a proud stern tree to the side. If one could use miscellaneous objects in battle, so too could Greil. Slinking down from the tree, the Pinsir rolled over and amazingly despite the hard blow had fallen asleep! Wild Battle

Sharada remained frozen on the spot, a spare Sport Ball in one hand to toss at just the right moment and Greil's in the other, ready to return him sure the need occur. The Pinsir had started acting strangely, as though it was examining the Slowpoke in a curious way, wondering why it had not been ripped in two. To be honest, the brunette was having the same sort of thoughts but all she could hope was that it wouldn't bother trying again. The more it tried, the sooner Greil would likely become scratched and then end up be gravely injured and she wasn't going to let that happen. But suddenly, something odd happened. Loosing her tense pose, she blinked in confusion as the large bug burrowed itself back under ground and seemingly began running off. Before the megaphones boomed out, the girl actually snarled, "DAMMIT YOU BUG! I WAS GONNA CATCH YOU!" Letting out a heavy sigh, it seemed her fears were true as the judges had obviously also witnessed the Pinsir digging off. Only, the sudden disconnection from the bellowing voice was disconcerting.
Spinning on the spot and into a different direction, her mouth dropped and eyebrows raised at the sight of the Pinsir dashing back towards them with a post in it's pincers. Was it really going to use that as a weapon?! Jumping back to safety herself, Sharada shot a glance to Greil, "GREIL! It has a post, watch out from above!" Flinching as the attack managed to hit, she was equally as surprised as the Slowpoke rather boldly took the post away from the Pinsir and used it himself! As the digging beetle was sent crashing into a deep sleep, Sharada stepped forward, knowing this to be her first chance. "Right, I'm gonna toss this ball! If it wakes up, I heal you up!" Enlarging the Sport Ball with a click of the button, she tossed it towards the slumbering Pinsir. Beautifly was a tense moment enough, this was going to be even worse.
