Despite all the sudden chaos what had been unfolding as of late, the culprit behind it all remained sleeping in the damp mud, as quietly as a comfortable baby. It's hard hands being used as pillows still, it appeared to be in a deep slumber, the once angry expression plastered across it's face being no more. Relaxing with an eased face and regular breath, it was almost unbelievable that such a creature could be such a naughty berry thief and cause so much trouble to the people in the area. It appeared that Joey wasn't going to turn a blind eye to this, however. Now that the tree was asleep and somewhat calm, he could easily return to the farmer and show him the creature behind this so called 'living tree' yet he continued to fight. Whispering an order as to not disturb the Sudowoodo, Dante was quick to swoop in, ready to munch on some dreams.
Hovering directly over head of the sleeping Sudowoodo, Dante pushed his hands forward, stretching out every finger and concentrating on the mind of the tree. It appeared his joking guess had been true, the angry Pokemon being completely different in it's dream state. Skipping through fields of all it could eat berries, it soon turned into a painful nightmare now that Haunter had decided to mingle in. In the Sudowoodo's dream, all the berries were starting to rot and wilt, a never ending flurry of rain also hanging over it's head. Sadness and pain starting to show on it's face in reality, the creature started to writhe around, face scrunched with discomfort as it tried to awaken from the nightmare.

Letting out a hideous sounding burp that by rights really shouldn't have been possible for a ghostly spirit, Dante began chuckling as he wiped his mouth clean. "Hahahahaha, you will NEVER guess what his dreams tasted like. Go on. Guess. Damn well guess." Clapping his hands together as he waited for Joey's answer, Joe instead was rather indignant to keep the Haunter as quiet as possible. "Shhhhhh...!! You'll wake up the bloody sod if you keep up with that racket...!" Shooting his line of sight over to the Sudowoodo, Joey watched as it still remained totally asleep. "Phew... And no, I ain't got a clue." A cackle escaping his lips, Dante raised one hand to cover the side of his mouth from the Sudowoodo as he called out to Joey. "Tastes like berries! Mwahahahaha!" Laughing uncontrollably it appeared as if Joey's warning had fallen on deaf ears. Clapping his hands louder and louder, the joker of a ghost began popping out his eyes and tongue to signify how hard it was laughing.
"That was a riot. And i'll tell you what else will be a riot, this bleedin' tree thing if it wakes up and starts smashing us into itsy bitsy pieces." Grabbing an item from the inside of his jacket, Joey looked down at his last remaining unused Ultraball. "Now's a good a time as any to use this. Hey Cali, get a load of this. You'll see me doin' this a lot when we're adventuring about." Changing his stance, Joey lined up the shot at the sleeping target and with an athletic throw, pitched the ball forward for capture. "Let's hope this works!" As the black and yellow ball soared, Calistra's eyes were affixed to them perfectly. Deep down, a feeling of disgust and contempt crept over her. These were the very same devices that tore her clan apart and enslaved her into that hellish pit. Flicking her eyes back onto him, she was half tempted to conjure an illusion with his throat violently slit.

The Ultra Ball sailed towards the still sleeping Sudowoodo. Unable to dodge, or even notice at all, the Ultra Ball snapped open and sucked in the Sudowoodo. The yellow and black Pokeball quickly closed shut, keeping the Sudowoodo captive as it fell back to the ground. The ball wobbled feebly, for the Sudowoodo was both aslepp and weakened and unable to put up a resistance. The ball finally stilled, a silent beep eminating from it. When the Sudowoodo woke up, it was going to be quite surprised by its new predicament. Congratulations! Great job catchin' the berry thief. I would've punished it if it were me, but I guess it's better off with ya,"he said. "Thank you so much for your help! Take these, please!"the berry planter insisted, handing Joey three berries. "Managed to save these before that berry thieving Pokemon destroyed the rest,"Bernie added. "Oh, and take this too. I have no use for this, but I imagine a travelling youngster such as yourself might need it."Out of his pocket, Bernie took out a TM machine, handing it to Joey along with the berries. As the Ultraball confined its target and began to works its magic, Joey sternly kept his ocean blue gaze on the capture device as if willing it to remain working. He had no idea what this creature was, nor how strong it was but he was prepared to go on for the long haul. Only the exaggerated over the top laughs of Dante could be heard and seemed to time well with the shakes of the device. Coming up to its third tilt, Joey's jaw dropped ajar and... Success! " Damn yeah! We DID it! Haha!" Overtaken with celebration, Joey went dashing forward and headed straight to his Haunter. " Gimme a high five man!" Positioning for one, Dante followed through but accidentally phased through Joey's hands. " Ah crap, who gives a damn about that. You were awesome Dante! I really did think you were gonna stir him awake." Taking a series of small bows, the comedic ghost basked in the praise. " A job worth doing is a job worth doing right if ya ask me. That berry eating fool wasn't gonna make a smashed rock outta me." Extending out on of his disembodied hands, Dante picked up the Ultraball containing the Sudowoodo and handed it to Joey. " Here, here my good man." Accepting it, Joey held it in his hand. Before he could remark anything else, the sudden appearance of Bernie caused everyone to take notice. Compared to their first meeting, he was an entirely different fellow altogether. " Oh hey farmer man. I'm glad you managed to at least see that. I'm pretty certain your berry vandal problems will be all taken care of now, haha." Spinning around the Ultraball in the palm of his hand, Joey chuckled. " I'm gonna be sure to teach this Sudowoodo the do's and don'ts of how you act while out on the farm. 'Sides, I might just have a use for this fella." Pocketing it away, Joey watched as Bernie had something for him. Accepting the berries in his hand, Joey felt his stomach growl. He was a huge fan of berries but now wasn't the time to admit such a fact. " Are you sure? Considerin' all the damage that thing wrecked, you must be low on stock. But if ya insist... I'll be sure to make good use of 'em. Hell, might even plant them as a reminder of our little meeting." Laughing as he stashed them away in his belt pouch, Joey was glad the farmer had dropped the hostility act. What's more though, was the next thing the farmer handed to him. " A HM? Serious?" Shocked at seeing another such rarity, this has been the second time Joey had come across one of these elusive, hard to get hidden machines. " You bet i'm gonna make use of that! I know I scratched your back but you've really helped me out with this." Pocketing that away as well, Joey shook his head with a whistle. The plantation itself was sorely damaged but perhaps with a bit of hard work, Bernie could regain his footing. " Y'know, perhaps once you've tidied this place around i'll come back and visit to sample some of yer berries, eh? Sound good?" Glad that he had made a positive contact for a change, it was something of a relief he might have one other place to hideout in should the cops hunt him down. Saying his farewells to the owner, Joey rallied up his group and began returning back to the beaten path on the way to Ecruteak. With just Calistra and him walking along in the night's dusk, Joey noticed she had become subtly more distant despite the progress they had made. " Hey? Cali? I do something wrong?" Ignoring him completely without so much a twitch of her ears, Joey fell silent. Surely he had done the right thing in stopping that Pokemon from wrecking any further havoc but there seemed to be something else. " We're not gonna get anywhere if you're not honest with yourself." His words stopping her, she remained with her back to him but in a rare occurrence she spoke out in a human tongue. " ...You wouldn't understand." Falling silent, she contemplated his heinous act before dismissing it and continuing on along the path. " Man..." Mumbled Joey under his breath. " Just when you think you're gettin' somewhere." - End -
