Okay, so the point of this thread is to post up stories you have from other RPGs. Sure you CAN post some from ZZ, but chances are a lot of other people saw it already anyway, so stuff from other sites is best. Either way, they can be for anything, amusement, sadness, complaining, whatever, just make sure that you were there, and it wasn't simply something you heard about.
Mine is from the very first RPG I was ever on, which was back in 2000 or somewhere around that time, it was on one of those old MSN websites, which I miss a lot. Anyway, at the time, I was just a lowly Ensign, along with one of my friends in the same faction, his name is Zeke, but we talked to each other about getting an attack going against the enemy, since they'd been winning lately, and our entire faction's morale was getting pretty low because of it. So we decided the best thing to do was attack them, specifically their HQ in Europe.
We came up with an entire battle plan, what forces would be where and what they'd be doing, and once that was done we passed it onto our boss, who liked that we were taking the initiative even though we were the lowest ranking players in the faction, so we both got promoted and he gave us a force for the plan, and we launched the attack right away. It caught the enemy players totally off-guard, as none of them were at the base we'd attacked, and they all needed to waste time deploying there.
But after we got there, we found out that we'd made a mistake, it turned out that we attacked one of their larger bases (Which in the forum listings was right below their HQ.), which wasn't their HQ which was what we'd wanted to go after, this was our fault for not getting proper intel on the enemy bases, but we'd already attacked so we stuck with it. We'd planned a quick raid to take out the base, which was going well, but we were unable to cause much damage to the base itself before the enemy forces got there to defend the base.
And when I say the enemy forces, I mean every enemy player, which is to say eight, and the forces under their command, which in total was about two dozen or more ships, and several hundred (Five hundred at minimum.) Mobile Suits (giant robots), tanks, and aircraft. This was facing off against our two players, Zeke and myself, our seven ships, and our force of roughly two hundred MS. So when he saw that the two of us had gotten the attention of the entire enemy faction, our boss sent the rest of our players to help us.
Our initial forces held them off pretty well considering the size difference, in fact we only lost about thirty units each by the end of the battle, even though our allies weren't there for a few days. We took out well over one hundred enemy units before our allies got there as well. We'd managed to take the ground early when we attacked, so we were in a better position when the enemy forces came after us, which is how we were able to do so well. But once our allies did get there, they hit the enemy from behind since the enemy force had been focused on us.
This allowed us to break through the enemy lines, and when we did this I personally destroyed on of these while I was using one of these which is worth mentioning based on size alone, but it was mostly because I didn't have a ranged beam weapon. Our boss used his ship to cripple the base, fired a beam cannon right into it, and while our force ended up losing about three hundred MS in that battle, we shot down nearly twice that number by the end, including four of their player units, and three ships, one of which was their flagship.
What we'd planned as a small raid had turned into the largest battle that ever took place on the site, and we'd crippled practically their entire force because they'd sent everything in at one time and got flanked by our allied forces, on top of that we also managed to destroy the base.
Even so, that wasn't the end of it. When we were withdrawing, there was a mishap, and our boss thought everyone was aboard when they weren't, so it ended up that Zeke and myself were left behind in Europe, which was mostly under enemy control at the time since they'd won our territory there before this battle. After our force had left, they'd made another attack while the enemy was recovering from it's losses to win back some of our territory. So as the enemy re-grouped, Zeke and I were forced to fall back to the coast from the middle of the country without any chance of backup.
Needless to say, they were pissed enough to attack us the entire time, and our withdrawal lasted a further two (OOC) months of constant fighting before we could get to the coast and our boss was able to send a force to pick us up, we ended up losing another eighteen MS during that time, while causing minimal damage to the enemy forces during this time.
But we got out okay in the end, we'd caused massive losses of machines and personnel to the enemy, which included all of their most powerful Mobile Suits, took out one of their main bases, and shot down three of their most important ships, while taking some heavy (though lower) MS losses ourselves, and coming out on top in all other areas during the battle.
That battle turned the entire war around since they'd lost all their power hitters, and we were eventually able to secure the victory for our side because they never fully recovered. But Zeke and I got a further double promotion, on top of the promotion we got before the battle, added to the site's hall of fame, we both got medals for valor because we'd planned it out, our forces did most of the fighting, and we continued to fight the enemy when we'd been left behind, and I got made rookie of the year.
It was a lot of fun, though it was horrible at the time since there were so many enemy units. lol But one reason it crippled the enemy forces is that on the site you needed to pay for replacements, repairs and all that. So we destroyed their faction's economy by forcing them to replace most of their force, they couldn't even afford to get it back to the level it was at prior to the battle. Which was in large part to the ships they'd lost.
All in all, it was just a great feeling, in large part because we'd gotten awarded for it, but mostly cause it was a lot of fun, they were all great guys to RP with, and it felt really good to know that a plan I helped make had done so much at such a crucial time. We secured our victory, and completed our objectives, even if it had been the wrong base.
So anyone else got any RPG stories they want to share? Most of mine will probably be from Gundam sites.
