Anyone else been watching it? Seems like Sony won this year by a landslide. Personally though, I think MS had a better conference, but Sony went right at everything unpopular about Xbox One, (No DRM, it has used games, no required internet connection, etc.) and came off a lot better because of it. I'm probably gonna get both, eventually, but right now I'm a lot more interested in Xbox One if only because of the games.
I personally don't have a problem with it needing to check online once every 24 hours, not like I disconnect my 360 from the internet, or even my 3DS (Unless the battery is low.), so I'd "always be online" anyway, I mean if the power goes out it'll be a problem, except that I won't be able to play anything anyway. I like the idea of digital games, I already buy most of my games digitally anyway, and if it ends up with sales like Steam, even better. Plus with digital games I don't need to worry about buying another copy of the game because the disc broke. Besides that, I really don't like to buy used games, since I've had some bad experience with them before.
Also don't care about the whole "Kinect must be plugged in to play" thing, if the Kinect breaks I would care, but in general I don't mind, cause I'd actually use it's voice commands and other features anyway. Now I don't think it's always watching you and recording you like some nuts and idiots do so I won't even get into that. Aside from the price, my biggest concern is being unable to play my games if something goes wrong on their end, like if Cloud is down or something. I'm not 100% clear on how that will work, so that's what I'd really like to know about.
But the games just impressed me a lot more on Xbox One rather than PS4, I mean I was more interested in the PS3 games than the PS4 exclusives. So I'll probably be getting an Xbox first, and a PS4 when there's some more games I care about.
As for PS4, I don't like how bright and shiny everything got with Killzone: Shadow Fall, I liked the look of the older games. To me that'd be the only exclusive for them I'd really be most interested in, but we still aren't the Helghast so there's that. <_< Most games they showed were multiplatform, and they seemed to avoid talking about multiplayer as much as possible, aside from a note the PS+ is needed for it, and it's $5 a month.
I was excited to see the little bit of KH3 they had in there, and if that's multi-plat I'd probably get that on PS4 just cause I'm used to PS2 for the others. But their conference was just really weak compared to MS, EA, and even Ubi, but they had their bombshell of denying everything that people hated about Xbox One, it wasn't important to me since as I said I don't have a problem with those things, but I can see why people were excited about it.
To me it just felt that everything in their conference hinged on that, since they didn't seem to have any other real staying power. I don't care about FF anymore, XV looked rather dumb to me honestly, showing off Destiny gameplay was their best game related showing, but it's not a PS4 exclusive anyway. In my mind they did spend too long talking about music and video, but there's nothing wrong with it having those features at all.
The PS4 itself looks nice, better than the current PS3 if nothing else, but they really didn't talk about the system itself as much as I'd like, just about a handful of exclusives, some indie games, and some multiplat games, before saying what it didn't have (Everything that people hate about Xbox One.). But what I want to know is what it DOES have, which was something that they really didn't go into. They mentioned that it uses Cloud, but they didn't go into it like MS has been.
So yeah, I think Sony won, at least at E3, but I like what MS had to show a lot better. I want both, but I'll probably start with the Xbox One. How about the rest of you? Which do you want? See any games you liked? I'm gonna be picking up Destiny, Watch Dogs, Titan Fall, The Division, Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain, Spark, Battlefield 4, and the new Halo obviously.
At this point I think Microsoft's best options would be an early price drop and/or making a system where you can buy/sell/trade digital games. The former would be a lot harder/worse for them but the latter one should be a rather simple thing for them to add, plus it'd remove a huge part of the problem people have with the Xbox One.
In other news, I missed everything Nintendo did cause they decided to skip E3 and just show it on WiiU, and I didn't know that till after the fact. But hey, Megaman in Smash Brothers.
