Hmm... I'm a tad rusty at this...
Okay so it probably wasn’t the best idea for Amelia to begin her journey just as the sun was setting but she had a legitimate reason to have taken this long... Well, she was asleep. Which, to be fair to her, was a very good excuse. It had taken her six months to finally muster up the courage to leave Violet and begin her journey southwards, towards Azalea Town. Six months spent dining with the Violet elite and dancing until morning, that is. After Amelia’s date with Falkner had gone well, the two were swept up in a whirlwind romance.
She had to forget about that. She had to make herself forget about Falkner and his stupid gym and his stupid duties. Amelia knew that she was doing the right thing - she had to continue her journey - but she was still dreading waking up without Falkner tomorrow morning and she wasn’t sure she was able to cope with this.
Since she hadn’t properly battled anyone in at least a month, she could feel her pokémon’s impatience emanating from the Poké Balls she had so easily forgotten about until now.
“Glad to see you remembering that there is more to Johto than Violet City.” Amelia could feel the judgemental look she was receiving from Victor already.
“Well I don’t know what you’re complaining about; you had more than enough fun in Sprout Tower - don’t think I haven’t heard what you were getting up to.” Victor’s gaseous aura seemed to darken slightly. “Are you...? Don’t tell me you’re blushing!”
Victor’s aura became, somehow, an even deeper shade of purple as he took one look at her and floated off down the path to Route 32.
“Hurry up, or we’ll never escape!” he called, stopping beneath a tree. “Besides, it could start raining at any time and, in this cold, you could fall because little Miss Shoes-are-for-fashion-not-function is wearing heels in Winter.”
Before Amelia could respond with a witty comeback, Victor rolled his eyes and continued on. He wasn’t letting Amelia turn around and go back to Falkner, it had taken far too much of his time convincing her to leave and he wasn’t letting that go to waste.
“Now come on, my dear, adventure awaits!”
They were gone.

This time of year was never all that kind to the majority of the Pokemon living on the sizeable Route 32. Blessed with extraordinary beautiful weather in the Summer months, it took a sharp contrasting turn for the worse in Winter. While the route itself wasn't being pelted by blizzards or doused in the icy rain of Winter's fury, it was still a bit too nippy to go parading around out in the open. As this was the case, Route 32 was looking quite honestly desolate. As if it had been recovering from the aftermath of a wintry fallout. Not a soul in sight from both Pokemon and person alike, it made Amelia and her estranged Gastly stick out all the more obvious against the frosted snow glazed over the route. Their exchanges made their even more noticeable yet. Considering the place seemed empty, that really shouldn't have been too much of an issue. However, what appears to be and what really is are two very different instances. Hidden away, covered from the resentful weather were a pair of eyes staring at the duo waltzing along from within the edge bushes. Their chatter had been enough to stir this soul and considering the cold environment had given it a headache, it was a little less than pleased to meet someone other than itself on this lonely season. Its beady little eyes leering tighter out of annoyance, it began to slowly moving along the cover of the bushes as it walked parallel with the trainer and her Pokemon. Using its stubby little legs, the tiny bud like creature stormed along as it tried to keep up with the effortless walking of Amelia. Hearing the spirit like Pokemon talk out to her some more as it passed a tree, the Budew made a screeching halt and a small rustle in the bushes as it hoped not to be noticed, thinking the Gastly had cottoned on to its presence. Breathing a sigh of relief that it was simply scorning its trainer, the Budew teetered on as they continued. Listening on as Victor remarked about the future progress they would make, the Budew pulled a resentful little face as it decided now was the time to make itself known. Pushing itself against a withered looking vine, it was thankfully still stretchy enough to send it propelling out of the bushes, into the air and more importantly, straight towards Amelia! Going so fast the little bud became a blur, its movement was just enough to raise a question about its appearance. Anyone who knew anything about Pokemon knew Budew was predominately of a green colour. This blur however... Had a distinctive purple addition to it! Chuckling to itself as it continued flying onwards like a miniature torpedo at Amelia, its happiness was short lived as its face contorted and all of a sudden, it fell to the ground, having reached the end of its projection. Hitting the ground with some force and going face first into a huge pattering of snow, the bud soon reared its face and did not look too pleased in the slightest. Stamping its little feet around, the Budew demanded its revenge. And Arceus help the Budew, it would have it. Encounter
A peeved shiny Budew (Level 8) has appeared! Please select a Pokemon for battle.

Victor and Amelia continued their banter as they walked down the route, mindful of any patches of ice that may have formed on the ground in the icy rain that had befallen it - one fall was more than sufficient for Amelia.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, there was a small, green object flying at them from a clump of vines to their left. Amelia thought it was only a leaf that was being blown about by the wind but Victor, having far more sense, realised the wind was being blown in a completely different direction (he should know, he was the one being blown slightly off course by it) so Amelia didn't pay much attention to it while Victor stopped dead in his tracks, watching whatever this was coming towards him. Before he could set up any kind of defence from it, he realised that it had reached its peak in the arc it was travelling in and was plummeting face-first into the ground.
Of course, Victor being Victor, he wasn't able to contain his guffaws when the small green thing (he guessed a Budew) face-planted into the hard ground. It was Victor's laughter that finally alerted Amelia to the green thing's presence as she turned to see what was so funny.
It was then that she saw it. There was a hint of purple on that green pokémon that looked a lot like a Budew. But Budew aren't normally purple... Could this be a shiny? With a yelp of surprise, she ran back to Victor's side as the two watched in anticipation (Victor having cottoned onto the fact that this Budew was purple, too), waiting to see if their wildest dreams were being realised in front of their very eyes.
The Budew stood uncertainly on its two small, stumpy legs as the duo let out a series of whoops and cheers - THEY HAD FOUND A SHINY!
"Oh my god, Victor! Oh my god!"
"Christ, Amelia!"
Neither of them could contain their excitement as Amelia made the split-second decision of which of her pokémon to send against it. She definitely couldn't defeat it so there went half her current party as they were super effective and the others were too powerful - there was only one pokémon for the job: Victor. He understood the gravitas of the situation and would do all in his power to stop this specimen of beauty fainting.
"Victor, do you think you could take this one? I need to make sure it doesn't faint..."
"Sure thing, dear. Night Shade?"
Victor responded in a mock-serious tone - he was quite clearly still overly excited about the shiny. "That would be perfect. Night Shade!"[/blockquote][/blockquote] A bit rushed. Mother's having issues with me being up at 1am and we're sharing a room so I can't hide it. Whoops! Thanks for reading/replying! ♥

The disgruntled Budew stomped forward, scowling darkly at Victor. The bud Pokemon didn't understand why exactly the Gastly and his trainer were freaking out so much. Perhaps its dareless attack had startled them? Regardless, the tiny Pokemon wouldn't be swayed by their strange behavior. It huffed out a breath, waiting impatiently for the duo to get their act together.
Luckily - or rather, unluckily - the Budew didn't have to wait long. Victor floated forward, his face split in a wide grin as he observed the bud Pokemon. Deciding to take the offensive first, he shot forward suddenly, startling the tiny Pokemon. His eyes glowed red, and two black beams shot from his eyes, slamming into the Budew and knocking it backward. The Budew tumbled head over heels, yowling as the attack stung against its skin.
After rolling a few feet, the Budew managed to stop itself, and stood shakily back on its two feet. It stared warily at the Gastly, now starting to feel a twinge of fear after that last attack. Whatever mystical power that was, it had been terrifying. The Budew decided that it needed to be better prepared to face this foe. Sucking in a breath, the bud Pokemon concentrated on the power hidden deep within its cells, trying to force said power up to be used. The Budew's form glowed slightly as it tapped into its latent power, raising its attack power. The next time it attacked, it was sure to do more damage.

Victor watched as the teeny tiny pokémon made itself fractionally larger and couldn't help himself; bursting into raucous laughter that resonated throughout the entire valley, he seemed to collapse in on himself (perhaps the spherical version of bending over with laughter?) as tears started to stream down his face.
"Oh my god that's simultaneously the cutest and most hilarious thing I've ever seen - I've been more threatened by a hoover than whatever that was!" he managed through his laughter.
Amelia, on the other hand, wasn't laughing at the pokémon.
"Victor! Stop laughing at the poor thing!" she said, obviously she also saw how hilarious its attempt was but didn't want to be rude to it. Instead, she endeavoured to be as polite as possible until she caught it because there was no way in hell she was passing up another shiny! "Ok Victor! That's enough!" she shouted which seemed to break him out of his hysterics.
"It looks weaker now, use Hypnosis and see whether that means we can just catch it and be done."
"As you wish, Mistress," Victor replied, letting out one last snort before advancing on the wild pokémon, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

The small Budew has used it's latent power to heighten it's strength but also grow in size somehow. Looking to the Gastly, it knew that this sudden change in appearance was going to be enough to cause both the trainer and her Pokemon to back off some. But instead, it did the opposite. The already grinning Victor bursting out into a bold laughter, it only angered the little bud further. How was he not petrified of it's sweet, little body growing tenfold in size? Frowning its eyes and puffing out it's cheeks as Victor rolled in the air, howling with laughter at the amusing sight, Amelia held a good amount of calmness and restraint herself, to be able to keep a straight face considering what she had just seen. Still not aware that it's unusual colouring was probably part of the reason why Amelia was being somewhat kind, her sudden shout even made the Budew jump slightly. Huffing and turning it's face away as if trying to cover up it's own surprised reaction to her sudden outburst, atleast it had been enough to halt Victor's laughter.
Giving her order, Victor let out one last snort of amusement before getting on with the task at hand. By making the slightly weaker Budew fall into a deep slumber, it allowed the female trainer a much better chance at capturing the wild Pokemon. Shinies were a rarity and this particular one didn't quite realise how valuable it was. Swooping forward with his gaseous body, his sudden approach caused the Budew to turn back to face him, body shuddering at how close he had become. Eyes wide open and seemingly staring into the soul of the shiny Budew, he used his powers to lull the bud into a fall sense of tiredness, it's eyes wearily trying to fight to stay awake. But it certainly didn't take long for the Budew to close it's eyes fully. Kneeling to the ground, it began resting peacefully with gentle breaths.

"Aw isn't it precious?" Victor said, floating beside Amelia's shoulder. The pair looked down at the sleeping Budew, looking almost like parents staring at their sleeping child. They exchanged a look of pride and then suddenly realised what it must look like. Springing apart, they both shook those strange feelings off and were quickly back to their strange, banterous relationship.
"So what do you suggest we do, oh great Mistress?" Victor said, bowing sarcastically (or hovering at an angle).
"Well, obviously, since we have a weak, unconscious Shiny Budew on our hands... It's quite clear we should catch it?" she replied, one hand reaching for her bag, the other attempting to slap Victor. Unfortunately she'd forgotten what it felt like to move her hand through a ghost pokémon and shuddered as the icy cold feeling engulfed her hand. Retracting slowly since the ectoplasm was sticky and tar-like, she started breathing onto her hand to warm it up as Victor grinned gleefully at her, pleased with his work.
With a devastating look at Victor, Amelia threw the Poké Ball directly at the sleeping pokémon and stood, anticipating the moment the ball clanked shut and she had finally caught herself another Shiny.
Maybe she could send it back to Elm's lab so it could hang out with her other shiny pokémon Alejandro?

Despite Victor's sarcastic nature, the Pokemon did have a knack for battling. The hypnosis hit head on - total pun intended - and the Budew was knocked out for the count. The tiny chest of the Pokemon rose and fall with each breath, no longer labored from battle and getting attacked. Amelia had the tactic down to a science. As long as she kept it up, catching Pokemon would be as hard as it should be. Working smarter, not harder, worked out. The shiny Budew had eluded trainer's eyes, but it had met it's match. It was far too fabulous to wander around the wilds any longer. The capsule was simple enough. The Budew had seen it plenty of times. Granted, it didn't know what was going on, but that wasn't the point. Pokeballs were a universal sign of trainers, and Wild Pokemon avoided them like the plague. But, as Budew snoozed on, there was nothing protecting it. The Pokeball plinked against it's body and willed the Pokemon inside with a brilliant flash of light. It was only then that the Pokemon woke up. Such beauty couldn't be contained! Budew immediately began to rock back and forth violently. It attacked each and every side it found itself facing, attempting to break the seams and escape from the ball. However, with the sleep slowly fading and the injuries it already had... escaping was impossible. The ball rocked once, twice and thrice! ... Successful Capture!
Victor fought well enough and has gained +2 levels for his efforts! Victor is now Level 17! Wild Budew has been captured! Please fill out the form below for your new teammate.
