“Honou, use Ember!” a young girls voice rang out through the route, and a large lizard, perhaps two feet in height, with a flame on its tail, nodded. It opened its maw, flames building up in the back of its throat. It released them in the form of lots of embers, striking the beaver-like creature in front of it. The beaver gave a loud cry before collapsing onto its side. For a moment, the fog lightened, revealing a girl, maybe twelve years old in age, with hair as white as the fog and scars over her right eye. She held a cane in one hand, the fingerless gloves holding onto the handle. Her shirt was a light blue hoodie, with frost designs lightly printed onto it. She wore black jeans, ending in dark violet leather boots. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and a hat bearing an H sat atop her head. Then, the fog got heavier, hiding her and the lizards forms. “Good job, Honou!” the lizard turned and walked up to her, panting heavily. Its scales were covered in deep scratches and bite marks, and many scales were ripped out. She was dripping with blood, and was beyond exhausted. Haley frowned, then reached forward to pick her up… Only for a gigantic jet of water to come flying from her blind side, striking the lizard and sending it flying with a cry. Haley shouted and turned, spotting the vague form of a Quagsire. She grabbed a ball off her belt, and a red beamed formed a small feline pokemon. “Use SuckerPunch! And don‘t stop until it‘s nice and unconscious!” the feline meowed and charged forward, preparing a strong sucker punch, angered by the harm done to her partner. Unable to dodge, the Quagsire took several hits before keeling over. Haley ignored the Quagsire, recalling the Skitty and hobbling over to Honou. “Honou, you okay?” the lizard managed a quiet Chaaaaah, and Haley scowled before leaning forward and pulling her hoodie off, leaving her in a thin T-shirt that quickly became soaked through. Noticing that the flame on the lizard’s tail was hardly any bigger than the head of a match, her heart skipping several beats. She wrapped the Charmander in the hoodie, making sure to cover the flame. Attaching her cane to her back, she ran as fast as she could into the city, heading for the visible form of the Pokemon Center. She moved to open the doors, only for them to resist her pull. ’What?’ she thought, yanking again. Then, she noticed the sign. ’Gone to help a trainer, be back tomorrow. she spoke several choice words, and then recoiled under the slight shelter of the route, trying to dry and help the Charmander, keeping a eye on the flame. Her mind quickly formed an image of her bag, foolishly left in her room in the center. All her medicine was in there. That meant she needed help, badly. She reached down and grabbed another Poke Ball from her belt, this beam forming a purple and pink feline. “April, I need you to go get help! Hurry!” the Purrloin noticed the raspy-ness in her voice, and the wounded and possibly-dying Charmander, and bolted, looking for someone, anyone, who could help.

Rainstorms were not something Ivan was a fan of. Not now, not ever, would he actually dream of liking being stuck in the rain. However, Yuudai, who was at his side, using his vines to hold the Umbrealla over Ivan's head, loved the rain. The way it felt soothed him, and rightfully so since he was a grass type after all. The Bayleef seemed rather pleased, and Ivan kind of half smiled at him. The Pokemon Center had been closed today, so he was taking refuge at a shop managed by an old friend of his Aunt Mana's. He had actually come out here looking for Mai, who had run off after she had gotten into an argument with Missy. His Newest member of the team, Diva, was at his side.
Though Growlithe weren't particularly fond of water, as long as Diva was under the umbrella, she didn't mind much. Ivan had convinced her to come out to sniff around for Mai. It was kind of hard though, since it was more difficult to pick up her scent in the rain. Ivan stopped and looked around, but he could still see no sign of his beloved Cat Pokemon. He knew she'd probably return to the shop eventually, but he couldn't help but worry for her. He watched Diva carefully as she took another whiff of the air, but seemed to pick up on nothing.
<<Something's coming our way, Brah.>> Yuudai commented as a violet-colored cat came flying wildly in their direction. He recognized her as a Purrlion, from his home region. She seemed frantic about something, and that was when Diva seemed to pick up on something, barking to try and get his attention.
<<Ivan this way, I smell Blood!>> Ivan hadn't understood that, but bolted after her when Diva ran out from under the umbrella, her fur becoming sopping wet in a matter of a minute. That was when he came upon a girl, much younger than himself. But what occupied his attention at the time, was the tiny Charmander in her arms. It was terribly injured, and the flame on its tail was pretty tiny as it was. He stared at her in silence for a few moments, and then calmly took the Charmander from her.
"Come with me. I'm studying to be a Pokemon Doctor. I'll try my best to help." He promised, explaining his intentions briefly as Yuudai quickly covered him and the Charmander with the umbrella. "Yuudai, keep up, Diva, spit as much fire as you can onto Charmander's tail. Until we get back to Rodney's." He took off in a run, while Diva and Yuudai followed in suit as quickly as possible, Ivan looking back every once in a while to make sure the girl at least knew what direction he was going in. Eventually, when the charmander's flame looked a bit bigger than the head of a lit matchstick, he had Diva fall back to allow the girl to keep up with them. He burst into Rodney's store, Rodney probably already out somewhere or in back, and placed the charmander down on the hardwood, using a stand to prop the Charmander's tail off the ground. As soon as the girl came in, he looked up at her.
"How did your Charmander get into such terrible condition?" He questioned, watching Diva as she fled to the corner of the room to shake herself free of water.

April panted as her small paws smacked the ground in a panicked sprint. There had to be someone here! It was a city, for Arceus’ sack! A thinly populated one, albeit, but still! ‘Wait a minute!’ she panted, skidding to a stop and causing a cloud of dust to settle on her pelt. ‘Duh! I can use my nose!’ She sniffed the air, knowing that now wasn’t the time for pranks. 'Human, Skitty, Growlithe... wait! Human?' She turned her head in the direction of the scent, and took off at full speed, knowing she didn’t have time to waste.
Deciding not to wait, she opened her jaw. “Help! Heeeeelp! Please! My friend, she’s dying! Help! Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!” she wailed, running as fast as she could go without fallen head over tails due to the mud.
She came around the corner, and spotted the human, as well as his Growlithe and Chikorita. “Help! My friend!” she gasped, coming to a stop and panting. She jumped as the Growlithe shot forward, fearing that she might be attacked by the canine. However, the fire-type continued to run past, the man at her heels. “Well,” she gasped. “That worked.” and with that, she ran after the man.
Haley looked up at the sound of feet smacking the mud that had formed on the usually-dirt pathways, spotting a man with hair nearly as white as her own as he came around the corner, a Growlithe in the lead. “Please,” she whispered, her voice hardly a croak due to the rain she had been in. “You have to help her.” she passed the man her precious starter and limped after him as he ran, his canine spitting flame onto Honou’s tail as the Chikorita kept them both dry. She fell behind slightly, her crippled leg unable to keep up with his quick pace, but made sure she could see them.
She hesitated for a moment before following him into the shop, just in time to see him prop up Hon’s tail. “My team and I went out to train, and we ran intoa Bidoof. We beat it, and I guess we must’ve fought its friend or something, cause a Quagsire shot this big beam of water at us, and it hit Honou straight on.” She shifted from foot to foot, feeling her bad leg tightening up due to the running. “Will she be okay?”

"To be honest, I don't know yet." He commented. He wasn't about to give a little girl any false hope. He didn't want to lose her Charmander, because he knew she'd feel it for the rest of her life, and it'd be far worse if he told her that she'd be alright. He signaled to Diva, who dragged his bag from the corner of the room, and over to him. Being how he was, he had one heavy pack. Diva breathed deeply as she released the bags strap, and sat down beside Ivan as he set to work.
"We'll need to clean these wounds if we have any hope of getting the flame on her tail to burn like it should." He mentioned to Diva. Diva nodded at him, lightly touching the bag with her head to cause an avalanche an assortment of creams and other things. Thanks to the blast of water, they had already been cleaned out, but he wiped away any blood that may have come out afterwards. Taking a round tin, he opened it and applied the cream he had made from Stubs of Razor Leaves that he had gotten thanks to Yuudai. That was why having a grass type around was so useful.
"I'm going to be really blunt with you. You shouldn't have let the battle put her in this kind of condition. She probably would have withstood that water gun well enough if she hadn't been so badly beaten up." Before he had asked, Diva brought him a small fleece blanket, which he folded smaller before. Getting up and walking behind the shop counter, he picked up a dish and sprinkled some oil in it. He had Diva light it up because taking any of Honou's flame at this point would be dangerous. He lifted the charmander's tail gently and placed the fiery dish under the flame. If done right, it would aid in re-lighting the Charmander's fire core.
"I'm going to have to keep an eye on her until Nurse Joy comes back to the center. I don't know why she left, but you might want to get comfortable. What's your name?"

When the man said that he wasn’t sure if Honou would be alright, Haley felt her stomach fall into her feet. She stared at her feet, trying to control the lump in her throat. Honou was her first Pokemon, she couldn’t lose her!
She turned to look at Diva as the fire-type dragged the bag over, revealing a large bunch of medicines. She moved her sopping hair away from her eyes, revealing the scars, in an attempt to see what he was doing better. When he applied a cream to her wounds, she wanted to ask him what it was, but decided to stay out of the way.
When he spoke again, she moved her gaze back to the floor, trying not to cry. “I-I didn’t think sh-she was hurt that badly. I-it was foggy, and I thought s-she was okay.” her voice trembled badly, but to her credit, she didn’t cry.
She gulped in an attempt to keep her voice steady as she spoke again. “T-the sign said that Nurse Joy left to help a trainer.” She moved to kneel next to Honou, her bad leg stretched out to keep her balance. She gently ran her hand along Honou’s head in a way to calm the shaking Pokemon, mindful of the energy. “I’m Haley. Is there… anything I can do to help?” she asked.

Ivan stared at her for a while, after hearing what she had told him. He turned to Diva and gave her a nod. They had to work quickly. Very quickly, if they were going to save the Charmander, that was. Diva breathed deeply, exhaling a barrel of flames aimed toward Honou. It wasn't set to hurt her, and Ivan knew it wouldn't as Honou was engulfed in the flames. It would just bring up her temperature. Ivan stood and walked over to the girl, kneeling a bit so he could meet her eye level. She was a lot shorter than he was. "Hey. Just be more careful. I don't mean to sound so harsh but I'm going to be honest with you. Your Charmander is very close to...well..." death is what he wanted to say, but he was pretty sure she knew where he was going with that. Taking a breath, he exhaled and put on a much kinder look, placing his hand on her shoulder. "I'm Ivan. Sorry we kind of rushed you here but it was imperative that we get here." He explained, taking a moment to recall Yuudai to his Pokeball. "And I do have something you can do, come here." He led her to where Honou was stationed and took a grater and a Sitrus berry from his bag, placing a bowl on the ground and handing the tools to her. "You could grate this for me. We'll need to give this to her when she wakes up." He explained, taking a colorful orange stone from his bag. He leaned by Diva, who stopped her fire spitting for a moment and nodded at Ivan. He pressed the stone to her body, and Diva began glowing, growing to a large sized, wolf-looking creature. She huffed proudly, and returned to her task with even more fire power. "Diva will work on bringing her heat back up." He mentioned, patting Diva's now large flank. He sighed and looked over at her. "How long ago did you start out?" He questioned, supposing it wasn't too long. ---- Diva evolved into Arcanine!

OOC: Sorry for the long wait
Haley looked at Diva as she shot flames at Honou, knowing they wouldn't harm her, but would merely raise her temperature, and hopefully add more fuel to her flame. Haley looked at Ivan, the man being much taller than she, as he kneeled to look her in the eye. When he said that Honou was very close to death, although he didn't say death, she knew that was where he was going. She wasn't emotional like a lot of girls her age, but a lump formed in her throat.
She looked away from him, unable to meet his eye, but looked back up at him when he put his hand on her shoulder. She nodded slightly when he told her his name, and whispered a soft “I know, it's alright,” when he apologized for rushing her there. She watched as he recalled the grass-type Johto starter, then pulled out a grater, a bowl, and a Sitrus Berry. "You could grate this for me. We'll need to give this to her when she wakes up.” She nodded, and sat down awkwardly, taking the berry and beginning to grate it into the bowl, making sure that the juice that was released landed in the bowl, so that Honou would get the whole berry.
She looked up when a light filled the room, seeing Ivan press the fire-stone to the Growlithe so that she began to evolve, turning into a regal Arcanine. 'Wow,' she whispered softly, before returning to grating the berry, watching the regal canine out of the corner of her eye.
When he asked how long she'd been a trainer, she had to think for a moment. “A couple weeks, maybe a month and a half,” she spoke quietly.

"Keep it up Diva, we can't afford any time loss." Ivan mentioned as the tall orange creature continued spitting flames at Honou. Diva flicked her fluffed tail as a response to him. He pressed a hand to her side as she continued, running it down the sleek orange tresses. The tense Pokemon relaxed a bit, her nerves settling from the important task she had been set forward to do. Ivan left her to work, returning to Honou's side.
He pressed a hand to her head gently, running it down in soft motions. "You'll be alright." This was his first real emergency, and he wasn't going to lose her, not if he could help it. He turned back to Haley now. His second task was to make sure she was calm too. Because if she wasn't, Honou would never recover. Stress level was an important thing, and any basic doctoring book would tell you the exact same thing.
"A month and a half huh? Pretty exciting. There's nothing like traveling with a bunch of Pokemon. You never know what they'll be like, so its interesting, isn't it?" He asked with a light smile as he took a minute to observe what she was doing with the berry. "That's good, but don't do it too fast, it just turns into a pulp otherwise." He instructed. Sighing, he called out to Diva.
"Let it rest for now Div." The Arcanine cut the flames, thankfully, Honou's flame seemed to be a lot bigger than it had been when they first arrived. Ivan sighed in relief and waved Diva over. She pushed her head against his side and he placed a hand on her to give her a scratch behind the ears. "You got your first Pokemon from professor Elm right? I always thought that Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle were pretty cool, but my first Pokemon was Lillipup." He explained, earning a happy yip from his other canine Pokemon.
