Bountiful Beach [Treasure Hunt]

"You think this is a good idea?" Tanya asked incredulously, expression dubious as she stared at her Meowth. Fiero merely flashed her a toothy grin in response, gesturing wildly at the sand. It was a good thing Sable usually didn't often venture too far from the gazebo or the bird keeper would have a fit over what they were about to do. Fiero had led them away the cottage, all the way down to a wide beach by the lake. Sand was haphazardly strewn about everywhere, as if the feline had been trying to dig up something on his own before fetching her for assistance.

Uttering a faint sight, the auburn haired trainer knelt down and brushed aside sand made wet by the lapping waves, wondering what had gotten into Fiero to inspire random digging. Tanya twirled the short spade she'd borrowed from the cottage, hoping Sable wouldn't find them while they were busy. In her other hand was a green device that was beeping steadily, indicating something present under the gritty sand."Well, here goes nothing..." she muttered, digging up where her Meowth had stopped. Fiero crouched down next to his trainer, paws flying as he scooped up sand and sent it flying.

Several minutes passed until Tanya struck paydirt. Technically it was sand, but she wasn't complaining when she hefted a Luxury Ball from the ground. These were rather valuable; how did one end up on the beach by the cottage? "I'm not one to turn my nose up at free stuff. Fiero, did you find anything?" she inquired, turning partially around. Her Meowth merely shrugged, leaning back with a scowl. He had indeed found some items, but they were wedged too deeply in the wet sand to be pulled free. Scooting over, Tanya tried her luck to grab what she recognized as a Super Potion, and a small bag tied up tight. "Dios mio. Forget it, amigo, we're not gonna be able to take home everything. We better skedaddle before Sable finds us throwing sand everywhere anyways."

It had been a while since their last attempt at plundering the beach for hidden goodies, as Sable had become suspicious over the amount of sand both Tanya and Fiero had brought with them into the cottage. With a blue sky streaked liberally with pink and orange from the setting sun, it seemed a perfect time for another go. Tanya had come prepared with the spade again, Fiero content to simply use his own paws to dig. A crisp breeze rolled off the lake to send shivers down her spine as Tanya knelt down on the sand, tugging at her jacket to draw it more closely to her body. "Best make this a quick excursion, lest we wind up with a kiss of frostbite," she said with a hint of amusement.

Fiero found this less than funny, scowling at his trainer. Spurred by the thought of possibly freezing solid, despite the fact there was only a chill from the wind and no real danger, the Meowth began digging with gusto. Streams of sand shot high up into the air, leaving Tanya spluttering as it landed in her hair and cascaded onto her face and clothing. Tanya sat back, spitting out the sand and chuckling at Fiero's enthusiasm. He seemed to be doing well enough on his own, she mused, the spade all but forgotten as the feline continued his frantic digging.

It was Fiero who found the stash, paws hefting a shiny pearl out of the damp sand with a manic grin. Oh, how he longed to keep the pretty jewel to himself, but his hopes were dashed as Tanya leaned over and plucked it from his grasp, tsking at him with a grin mirroring his own. Flicking bits of sand still clinging tenaciously to the smooth, opalescent surface, Tanya inspected the orb closely and was apparently satisfied, nodding to herself before tucking it into her pockets. Fiero kicked at the sand, venting some of his annoyance at being unable to fawn over his own personal treasure and scowling fiercely as Tanya ruffled his fur affectionately. "Maybe another time," she offered, chuckling as the Meowth's eyes lit up with the prospect.

Sable's watchful gaze had meant another late day trip to the beach, both trainer and feline shivering from the cool evening air. Excitement over what could lie beneath the sand was enough to keep the cold at bay for the most part, both kneeling down to smile conspiratorially at one another. "On your marks... get set... dig!" Tanya whispered, a quick glance back at the cottage to assuage her fears of Sable discovering them before she began digging. Fiero was already sending sand flying, eager to hold Tanya to her promise from their last trip.

As Tanya hefted out yet another pearl, she spared a furtive glance at Fiero, who remained on his single-minded task of finding something of his own to keep. Shrugging slightly, the redhead turned away from him and looked over the sparkling orb with a grin. It didn't seem any bigger than the last one they'd found, but it was just as shiny, and likely to fetch a good price if she chose to sell it. Not like she'd ever been the kind of girl who enjoyed any kind of jewelry, finding most to be impractical for journeying across the region. Fiero let out a soft hiss of disappointment as he was met with failure, fortunately not catching sight of Tanya slipping the pearl into her pocket.

Still cross over being unable to find his own treasure, Fiero was in a dire mood as he and Tanya made their way down to the beach, sun peeking over the horizon as dawn approached. Sable wasn't a morning person, and the likelihood of discovery was quite slim. Neither said a word as they hunkered down on the sand, wondering what they might find this time. Tanya was the first to move, attacking the sand with her trusty spade while the Meowth behind her scraped away great heaps with his paws, eyes narrowed in concentration. He was not coming up empty handed once again!

When she plucked out the odd papers from the ground, Tanya frowned; they seemed familiar, in a strange way. Not that she'd expected another Big Pearl like the past couple of times, but these papers were a bit of a letdown, somehow. Behind her Fiero let out a joyous cry, hefting a shiny coin into the air with a huge grin stretched across his face. It wasn't some pretty bauble, though the gleam in his eyes spoke volumes about how happy he was to finally have a treasure to call his. "There ya go, buddy! Satisfied now?" Tanya teased, ruffling the fur on his head and ducking back with a laugh when he swiped playfully at her. They retreated from the beach, at least one party satisfied with their findings.

Unlike the previous trips to the beach, Tanya knelt down in the sand alone, Fiero merely content to watch her from the grass. He was still quite pleased with his shiny coin, rubbing the surface of it until it sparkled in the midday sun. Sable was out of town, leaving Tanya free to peruse for more goodies without looking over her shoulder. Rolling her eyes at Fiero's fawning, Tanya turned back to the beach and started digging with her spade. At least this time she could hopefully find something nice and not have her Meowth's covetous eye boring holes in the back of her head.

When her spade hit something with a faint ting, Tanya set the tool aside and scooped the rest of the sand with her hands. Uncovering a familiar looking ball, the redhead grinned and brushed off the blue surface until it sparkled as brightly as Fiero's coin. Thankfully the cat was still preoccupied with his find and did not eye the Great Ball with envy, knowing it was useless to him anyways. "Come on then Fiero, let's head back and get some lunch shall we?" Tanya asked as she stood and brushed off her jeans. Meowing appreciatively, Fiero followed her back up to the cottage, tail swishing happily.

Another day, another chance to find some real goodies. Tanya and Fiero made their way down as the morning sun crested the horizon, hoping to beat Sable's usually early rising time. "Quickly now, and try not to make much noise," she instructed her Meowth, dropping silently to the sand. He nodded in reply as they began to dig, the silence only punctuated by Tanya's spade and the thumps of sand tossed by Fiero over his shoulder.
