" ...And that is what happened." Recalling the events of his Pokemon going renegade, it seemed Looker was conversing to Joey via his poketch. Remaining silent, Joey creased the bridge between his eyes and let out a weary sigh. He had stormed along the route between Ecruteak and Olivine in order to trail blaze onwards but he had no idea that his very own Pokemon would conspire to go to such lengths to escape from the safety of the warehouse. " Thanks Looker. I owe you one for reignin' 'em in. Keep an eye on them. Just don't be too harsh. I can imagine when you have hot headed creatures like them clamourin' for a bit of action its no surprise they wanted a little wander." Remaining silent for a few moments, the silence was telling enough from Looker that he disagreed and felt otherwise. That a punishment was more fitting. " If that is what you think best." " Yeah, it's my fault. I'll just have to rope them in next time I go on a little raid on some Rocket den or somethin'. Sure they'll appreciate." " Fine. But what of the surplus Pokemon? ...The warehouse is crammed beyond belief. No Paras. You can't nibble that. Stop." Chuckling wearily, Joey responded. " Oh, right. Heh. I forgot they had managed to capture half a route too. Hmm... I'll have to find people to hand them off to. We could release them but perhaps this gives us some ammo to help people fight Team Rocket." " Hm. I agree on that." "Did you find anything else on that hacker? That... What was it? Later-us?" " Lateralus. And no. It appears he has kept off the radar. I'll fill you in on anything else. Oh... Excuse me. It appears there's a commotion in the storehouse. A Nidorino is ramming some of Eightball's prized bikes." " Hahaha, glad i'm not there. Cheers anyway Looker. Catch you on the flipside." Lowering down in his Poketch on his wrist, Joey let out a disbelieving groa. " Maaaan... Really? I'll have to go back and sort out some words later." Putting his Pokemon's excursion out of mind for the time being, the thief grinned brightly as he looked down upon the harbour city before him. Standing at the city's entrance, it appeared there was a winding trail leading down into the coastal settlement. Inhaling deeply, he let out a cheerful laugh. " Hahahaha, this is nostalgic. Almost like bein' back in Fuschia." Of course, that was whereabouts the similarities ended. Whilst Fuschia was situated alongside the coast, it was nowhere near as big in terms of size compared to Olivine. Starting to follow the path down, he raised his arms behind his head as they drooped crossed over his back. " I bet there's all sorts of thrills to be had here. Battling, exploring, fishing... Hell! The gym!" His eyes suddenly gleaming expectantly, he was pretty sure like the majority of cities before he had visited that Olivine too would house an official Pokemon league sponsored gym. " Well, that settles it. First thing's first. Taking on that gym." Looking down at the lapel on his jacket, he smirked happily. " So far I got four of these badges. Four more and I get my shot at returning back home... Heh. Home." Looking out to the glorious sea filled horizon ahead of him, it was a poignant reminder that if he managed to do so, he'd likely sail his way back home and end up on the shores of Fuschia once more. Eventually making it into the heart of the city, it didn't take the biker long enough to pick up on where the gym was. Eavesdropping certainly had its uses. Making a quick call at the Pokemon Centre to rearrange his team for the fight, it wouldn't be long before he found himself standing outside of the gym entrance. Looking up with admiration and respect at the building, he wondered what sort of gym this would be like. " So we've had birds, bugs, cuties and ghoulies. This could be anythin'..." His eyes trailing over to the sign on the front of the building, he read out loud the details. " Olivine City Gym. Leader Jasmine. The Steel-Clad Defense Girl." His face furrowing somewhat, he nonchalantly decided not to dwell too much on the possibility she was a Steel type trainer. " Tch. Means my Poison types won't be doin' too much good. Ah well." Punching a fist into the palm of his other hand, he grinned wildly. " Just means we gotta work doubly hard to win this. Alright!" Stepping in through the doors, it would be purely down to Joey's impatience at wanting to challenge yet another gym that he failed to realise he was doing this completely out of order. The recommended guideline set forth by the pokemon league itself was for trainers to actually travel through the stormy seas to Cianwood and facing the gym there first. Without any such clue to this, it meant he was quite possibly walking into the hardest battle he had ever been in. Walking through the entrance and into the spacious gym itself, he looked around at the interesting décor. It certainly evoked feelings of what sort of type specialisation that was here what with all the steel beams, girders and supports. Cracking his neck from side to side, he yelled out, ready to start the challenge. " Oi! Anybody home? Joey's come a-knockin'!"

Olivine Gym Leader: Jasmine __________________________
Stepping through the automatic doors and raising his voice to draw the attention of the Gym Leader, Joe's eyes were left to take in the sight of the interior of the Gym. Relating to the title she had been given, the inside of the building was scattered with giant iron grates, tall sturdy girders and metallic plating that covered the floor. Every step echoing as his heavy boots clanged against the metal surface, as he stepped in a bit further a figure came into his line of sight. But maybe she wasn't the type of trainer Joey had expected. Given her title of the Steel-Clad Defense Girl, as well as being based in the bustling sea side city of Olivine, many would assume her to be quite out going or brash. Stories of her defensive yet hard hitting Pokemon would travel quickly in the city, once again making her seem like a trainer worthy to be feared. In fact, actually looking at her would almost make one think that she was in the wrong place.
Standing at the opposite end of the Gym on a slightly raised platform stood the only other human, hinting that she was in fact the Gym Leader. Feminine and dainty, the small girl possessed gentle features, wore delicate clothing and overall came across as very graceful. Only, she did seem deep in thought. Not quite being drawn to Joey's boom of a voice, the female known as Jasmine kept her eyes focused on the wall, staring blankly. She came across as distant or even worried, her arms folded across her stomach neatly as her finger tips clung onto the fabric of her dress. Sighing very softly, her soft brown eyes blinked as the sound of Joey's heavy footsteps grew closer. Finally gaining her attention, Jasmine turned ever so slightly, looking over at him to acknowledge his presence. Not even giving him a welcoming smile, her shoulder simply drooped and expression stern, as if him being there was nothing more than a hassle.
"A challenger..." She whispered to herself, almost resentfully. For Jasmine, she currently had a lot on her mind and the last thing she wanted was a challenger. Alas, her role of being a Gym Leader gave her no other choice. The local Lighthouse held a Pokemon very dear to her heart, an Ampharos which she had dubbed Amphy. But he had become sick and once again, her responsibility as Gym Leader meant that she was unable to leave the city in order to get medicine for her dear friend. Usually she was a quiet and meek girl regardless but with this worry plaguing her thoughts, it made conversing very difficult for her. Lowering her head almost defensively, she held onto her hands and held them by her chest. "Hello... I am Jasmine, the Gym Leader." She spoke to him with a soft voice, yet no emotion was apparent on her face. Trailing off, her eyes faltered to the ground, mind wandering elsewhere. She really couldn't battle seriously with this worry on her mind. Yet at the same time, she couldn't turn this challenger away.
Looking back up to try and decide if Joey was going to be an impatient type of character, her eyes were drawn to his jacket, where only four shiny badges were pinned. "...You have 4 badges." Her words accidentally leaking through her lips, she paused. A few eager trainers often thought that her own Gym came before Cianwood, which was instead the fifth Gym. For Jasmine, she could only assume that Joey was the same and held confidence in herself that this battle would be swift. "Very well... Let us battle." Bowing her head politely, she picked up one of her three Pokeballs and tossed it forward, revealing the heavy clanking of a Magneton. The three conjoined Magnemite's zapping out some sparks of intimidation, Jasmine merely stared silently at Joe, wandering what Pokemon he could possibly have that would be able to even lay a scratch on her defensive Steel Pokemon.

Having called out issuing his challenge to the gym's leader, he would not receive an immediate reply to his demand. Looking around instead, he was taken in by the solid feel of the gym he was in. There was no doubt at all by this point he would be going at someone who specialised in Steel Pokemon. His hand immediately falling to his belt, he plucked a Pokeball and began absent mindedly tossing it up and down as he also got a feel for the battlefield itself. It was very sterile, thanks to the steel influenced design that had inspired the setting. Eventually, a figure came into view at the opposite end of the battlefield. His mouth dropping somewhat, he rather tactlessly spoke out. "Oh, so there's someone here after all. Go let the gym leader know i'm here and we can get this brawl goin'." Grinning cheerfully, he would be ready to eat his words as the dainty looking female slowly responded to him with the surprising fact that she was in fact the gym leader. "You're the gym leader?!" Unable to hide his surprise, it was truthful he had imagined the leader here to be something a bit more... Solid. Trying to patch up his poor assumption, he laughed it off. "Ahahaha, sorry, I gotta admit. I wasn't sure what to expect when I came in here. I've just journeyed from Ecruteak to here so i'm a little tired."
Finishing his words, he raised an incredulous eyebrow as it appeared although she was physically there in front of him, her mind was far, far away. "Say, somethin' the matter? You don't look quite with it." Pulling something of a perplexed expression over his face, he was once again taken off guard as she appeared to focus on something of his own. "Huh-what?" Looking down to the pinned badges on his jacket, he thumbed in their direction proudly and flashed her a cocky grin. "Heheh yeah! I'm tryin' to do this whole challenge thing. I'm sure you get that all the time with challengers but i'm intent on makin' somethin' of it." His prideful words faltering, he flashed her a somewhat unsure look as it soon dawned on him she referred to the four badges in less than a positive tone. She was a girl of few words, that much was sure but Joey was quick to realise something was off. "What's up? Four badges bad or summat?" Shrugging it off, he was confident enough in his ability otherwise he would not have stopped off here. Even if there was some sort of issue, it appeared Jasmine was at least happy enough to engage in battle. Selecting a Pokeball and sending it forwards, Joey was eager to see what sort of creatures he would have to face to clear this challenge.
Eventually coming forth into view, it appeared he would be facing none other than a Magneton. "Huh. A Magneton." A little antsy, Joey could remember back to a time in Kanto when he was apprehend by an officer of the law who used one of these. Being the wild child he was back then, he believed in nothing but offence as a means to victory. Using his Pokemon from back then with the hardest hitting move it had, he was left in a troubling predicament when it hung in there with a sturdy ability allowing it to keep on with the fight. Running his hand over the stubble on his chin, he was glad he remembered such an event. Deciding to play it off and bluff over the concerns he held, he flashed Jasmine a wild grin. "I'm gonna have to rely on one of my best to take a Pokemon like that on." Having already decided on using the Pokemon he had plucked from his holster earlier, he tossed it up once or twice more before deciding to introduce himself first. "Name's Joey by the way. Thought it'd be proper to introduce myself. I hail all the way from Fuschia in Kanto." Letting the ball fall back into the grasp of his palm, he concluded his intro. "Could say this is why i'm doin' all this. Okay, Voltek, you're up!" Tossing his Pokeball forward, it erupted with a dazzle of light.
Landing with a definite thud, the outline of his Electivire stood up to its impressive size and flexed his arms before posing. Letting out a low sounding growl, Voltek took in the situation. "Ahhhh. The promise of battle." Looking around, the Electivire was quick to identify the circumstances. "Another gym challenge. I'll be sure to bring the thunder to this fight. I will fight for your dream Joey!" Whipping his tails to send off a few sparks to pump up his adrenaline, Joey was pleased his Pokemon was ready for battle. "Haha! That's the spirit, Voltek." His eyes turning back to the Magneton, he quickly made a snap judgement of its strengths and weaknesses. Knowing it had an affinity for electricity, he at least had an immunity there with Voltek's own typing. The steel side of things could be problematic and he was pinning the fact it may very well have been sturdy to go by worst case scenario. "Head's up Voltek. Gonna play this strategy o' mine. Start things off cautious and use Quick Attack!" Looking over his shoulder, the Electivire was visibly confused. "What? But I can level it in one with a mighty earthquake. Let me pummel the very ground and..." Noticing Joey wasn't saying anything, Voltek turned back to look at the Magneton and growled again. "Very well. One Quick Attack."

Jasmine remained silent as Joe spoke out to her, regarding her as some side trainer who was merely there to lead the true Gym Leader forward. Although he was quick to apologise, her dull expression still bored into him, almost venomously, despite there being not too much emotion spread across her features. Her delicate arms falling by her sides, she stepped forward and stood at her spot on the field, trying not to take what he said to heart. But with the sheer amount of worry she held when it came to Amphy, she found it difficult to shrug off comments, words such as those only riled her up further. Taking a moment to breath softly, it required a great amount of restraint for her to stop herself from simply kicking him out of the Gym doors. Flicking a section of her back over her shoulders, her response to his words were delayed, "...Ecruteak? Have you... Been to Cianwood?" Her delicate and gentle voice echoed against the metallic walls of the Gym, followed by a soft sigh. He really had just rushed ahead and entered without thinking. It was a distraction but again, she simply couldn't turn away a challenger, even if he was out of order in terms of badges.
"Joey... It is a pleasure." Bowing her head slowly, she tried her best to be polite, even if her disinterested tone of voice suggested otherwise. Learning that he was from Kanto, she did listen with a bit more intent. She herself had managed to occasionally take trips to Sinnoh but it was very few. Learning of outside regions did interest her, especially towns that were by the sea. There was something else odd about him as well, which was the fact that he picked up very quickly that her body may very well have been in the Gym but her mind was elsewhere. Giving him a look of subtle surprise, it was atleast different to her usual blank stare. Quickly reverting her eyes, she held her hand to her face, tensing her shoulders defensively, "It is... Nothing." Not quite willing to tell him the situation with Amphy just yet, Joe would need to prove himself to be a dependable trainer if he wanted to get any information out of her. "Let me... See your Pokemon." Trying to change the subject for now, she hoped that a quick battle would take place, then he would simply leave her be.
Oddly enough, Joe's choice of Pokemon sent a powerful thump to her chest, "An Electivire." Standing bold and strong was Voltek, his Electivire. Whilst Jasmine mainly dealt with Steel types, the amount of time spent in the local Lighthouse with Amphy had also meant she held a special place for electric types in her heart. There was a young Elekid who lived in the area who she would often see, so seeing the evolved form of that particular line gave her a different opinion of Joe. That and his choice of move made her eyebrows frown ever so slightly. Maybe he wasn't as inexperienced as she first anticipated. Gripping the edges of her dress, Jasmine leant her head forward and beckoned to her Magneton, "Magneton... Use Mirror Shot." Hovering in the same place, both Jasmine and her Magneton were experienced battlers and were not caught off guard by the sudden eruption of speed by the opposition. Voltek, having been given his order, darted forward with incredible speed. Such a large Pokemon would've been expected to have heavy, pounding footsteps. But not Voltek.
Light on his feet and blindingly fast, he dashed across the floor with a single swoop. Reappearing in front of the Magneton, he lifted his gargantuan fist and landed a lightning fast punch, sending the floating bolt of magnets rotating backward. Only, the damage was practically non existent. Shaking the attack off very simply, it rearranged itself back into the correct order. "My Pokemon... Are Steel types. Attacks such as that... Won't harm my Pokemon." Stopping there, the Magneton begun it's own attack. Body and magnet's rotating madly, it began to spin at an alarming rate, using it's other parts to polish itself up. As it's body became incredibly shiny, the strong Gym lights reflected off of it's body with a bright flash, practically blinding Voltek. Grunting, he staggered back as the light hit him, arms instinctively raising to his face to shield his eyes.

Streaking forward with impressive agility to the point it seemed as if the hulking Electivire had instantaneously reappeared in front of the Magneton, it appeared the extreme agility had Joey cheering on his Pokemon. "Hahaha! That's it! Give 'em a good dab, y'hear!?" Spurred on by his trainers words, the large electric beast lashed out with a strike of his fists, causing the Magneton to be knocked out of formation. Grinning wildly, Joey looked up over to Jasmine as she commented on his choice of moves. "Awww c'mon. I may look like bit of a punk but I have some brains. The attack wasn't meant to act as the decisive blow. Far from it." His grin turning into bit of a cavalier smirk, he didn't go on much further with the conversation, instead wanting to save the juicy morsel of what he would reveal for later. Instead, he adapted quickly in order to support this Pokemon. "Volt, be on guard. Things are about to get flashy!" Having left himself open from the attack, Voltek had no means of escaping the blow and instead decided to hold his ground whilst reaffirming back to Joey he understood with a grunt. "I understand, let us see what these magnets can do!"
Bracing for impact, Voltek was wrong in his assumption it would be a physical attack. Having watched the Pokemon reform back into its ordering and starting off its incredible spinning, it was understandable to think why that would be the case. Instead, the frenzied spinning wasn't meant to hit physically but rather reflect off the bright, gym lights overhead and use that as a means of attack. Finally harnessing the attack, a powerful glint of light beamed off and had the thundering giant staggering backwards. The brightness was so overpowering even Joey had to cover his eyes as if rudely having a torch being shone in his face. As it finally died down and with Voltek making his way back to Joey's side of the battlefield, the two would reconvene for the next round. "How goes it, you good man?" "Bah! Magnets! How do they work?! The less of it the better. But I am good to go for more of the fight!" Understanding the positive tone in his Pokemon's voice, Joey resumed his devil may care grin and looked up to Jasmine, having picked up on what she had mentioned earlier. "Cianwood? Huh? Where's that...? Hey! Waittaminute... I remember seeing that on the back of a cereal box about some all expenses trip paid to the safari zone they have on out there. I entered but nada. What a waste stealin' all them packets too... Would've loved to have taken some shots and sent to my ma back home."
Shrugging it off, he pondered on the geographical proximity of the place to Olivine. "Woah, back up. Is Cianwood close to here? Guess I know where i'll be headed." His grin tracing from ear to ear, he also decided not to press too hard on whatever it was that seemed to be bothering her. "Eh, if ya say so. You really oughta make sure whatever it is that's botherin' ya is sorted. It's ruinin' ya pretty looks, y'know? A gal like yourself shouldn't wrinkle her face." Having decided to throw out a small flirt, he wondered if it would garnish more of a reaction. Quiet people usually came out of their shell with enough invitation. Deciding not to rest on their laurels any longer, Joey would quickly order the next move and also pick up where he left off in their earlier conversation. "Remember how I said Quick Attack wasn't gonna be the decisive blow? Well, this may very well be. It was all a set up." Flinging his arm forward passionately, he shouted out his command to Voltek. "Voltek! Get poundin' and cause an Earthquake!" Brandishing his massive arms by his sides, the Pokemon let off a few sparks. "If there is one thing I love about duelling, it is the fact I can do this!" Now limbered up for the next round, it appeared he was ready to smash his fists into the ground and cause a severe thrashing of the tectonic plates.

Jasmine eyed Joey cautiously from across the cold steel platform of her Gym. She was always wary of new challengers and even though this one looked brash, loud and perhaps a little over-confident, she knew better than to underestimate her opponent. The first turn did nothing to suggest that she should be worried. A choice of a Normal type move against cold hard Steel was poor to say the least, but it bothered her that he'd be so reckless with his Pokemon as it was expected that trainers would know more about type match-ups having beaten much revered leaders such as Morty.
Suddenly, her vision became hazy and she began to feel weak, trembling slightly at the knees. In her mind all she could think of were Amphy's fits of pain. She could hear him crying in anguish and watched on as Nurse Joy injected vile Antidotes into his bloodstream to no avail. All the while dozens of Electrodes struggled in vain to power the Lighthouse's beam which flickered with a pale yellow hue, not nearly strong enough to penetrate the dense mist and violent storm fronts that drifted north from Whirl Islands. She could only pray that passing ships would be cautious and slow their approach to Olivine, cautious enough to spot the waning and glimmering light of the beacon and shuddered to think what a sea captain with all the flamboyance and recklessness of this trainer might do...
"Eh, if ya say so. You really oughta make sure whatever it is that's botherin' ya is sorted. It's ruinin' ya pretty looks, y'know? A gal like yourself shouldn't wrinkle her face." The trainer's crude attempt at a compliment snapped her back to reality. She hadn't been paying attention to his constant blathering ever since he stepped foot in the door but this one irritated her to no end. What did he know of her suffering and of Amphy's ailments? A glimmer of annoyance and anger spread across her face. She wanted to burst out and snap back in anger. She fought back those feelings welling up inside of her and strained to remain composed and in control of the situation. It's time to focus on this battle, she said to herself. It's time to give as good as we get and keep these trainers honest. She steeled herself for the fight ahead.
"Remember how I said Quick Attack wasn't gonna be the decisive blow? Well, this may very well be. It was all a set up." Listening and reacting to her opponent was Jasmine's strength. Thousands of scenarios crossed her mind as what this could mean. Electivire was an Electric type and shared that in common with Magneton but perhaps there was something that this Electivire knew that could deal a damaging blow to Magneton. Having been a Rock-type trainer at one stage and having trained her Onix to the steel behemoth that was Steelix today, she guessed what this could mean and steadied Magneton's Heavy Ball in one hand. "Voltek! Get poundin' and cause an Earthquake!" This confirmed her fears but instinctively she raised the heavy metallic ball in her right hand to recall her Pokemon.
"Magneton, good job! Return!" she commanded decisively as the Pokemon disassembled itself and disappeared inside the ball almost like iron filings drawn to the magnetic field of a magnet. As sparks flew and Voltek lifted his massive arms to pound ground with an enormous supercharged force, Jasmine whipped out another ball and tossed it out onto the centre of the arena.
Wham! Voltek's arms clanged against the steel-plated Gym floor. Bolts exploded from their rivets and plates were flung across the room like frisbees, while the entire building rattled violently and panes of glass smashed to the floor. As the dust and debris settled on the scene, a shape of an ironclad raptor could be seen hovering above the carnage below. Jasmine's Skarmory had come out unscathed from the earth-shattering attack. Its metallic wings clattered together like the sound of a giant pair of shears as it unleashed a blood-curdling shriek. If there was one thing she was sure of, Jasmine knew defense was the best offense and was well prepared to go the distance with this challenger.

Folding his arms and grinning at her hoping for more of a reaction, his own crazed look was deflated somewhat as he keenly picked up on the shift in her demeanour. He had told her to try and take her mind off what bothered her or to see to it the route of the problem was addressed but that look of disarray was worrying to say the least. For someone who had expertise in the steel type, her resolute ways didn't seem exactly honed. "Hey...? You not feelin' too good? You really don't look all that with it." Despite playing up the fact he liked to engage a good old fashioned brawl, his voice had some genuine concern associated with it. He had come across a number of gym leaders who had all sported very particular type of personalities, some more preoccupied with other matters than the fight itself, but with Jasmine it was unlike any other. "It's like you're here physically but mentally some place else." Reeling back as she shot him a look of annoyance, Joey decided to give her bit of a wide berth as it appeared he may have been a bit too heavy handed in his dialogue with her. "Alright, I get it. Maybe somethin's goin' on. I'll stop probin'. Let's just fight this through, eh? I wanna see what an expert in steel Pokemon can do."
Hoping for her to take the bait and launch off with another offensive based move for the Magneton, Joey's jaw dropped somewhat as she pulled off something he had not anticipated at all. "HUH?!" Hearing her call out the dreaded words of returning her Pokemon, he turned to Voltek and yelled out. "WOAH! I take it back! Volt, hold ya horses back a sec!" By then it was far too late. With the Magneton being drawn to the heavy ball very much like that of a magnet reacting to a positive attraction, Joey looked around to see what exactly Jasmine had used. It was well within a trainer's right to switch but the fact she was worried the biker on the basis it was likely something that would be immune to what was being ordered. Seeing Voltek strike off the gargantuan slam, Joey had trouble securing himself in place as the very ground shake. At the same time, he noticed Jasmine had fearlessly shoved the Pokemon she had next chosen into the heart of the chaos. With the gym itself bearing the brunt of the destruction and it being hard to distinguish what was going on, Joey eventually freed himself from the tremors before looking over with anticipation to see what exactly he was up against. Despite having looked dead on, he would instead have to look above where a familiar creature greeted him. Hearing the scissor like sound of its wings and the screech it roared out, Joey opened his mouth and retorted with confirmation of the Pokemon. "SKARMORY!"
His fists clenching by his sides, he continued looking up as he recalled how exactly he knew of this Pokemon. "Damn. All the times I hung out with Tanya and her Starscream, I was grateful to never have had to go head to head with that son of a gun. But here we are..." Looking down to Voltek, the Electivire muttered his apologies. "Joe I am deeply sorry. By the time you had ordered the move I had begun to exact my might and was so caught in using all my strength, I..." Understanding his Pokemon was becoming flustered, he laughed heartily before gesturing away his worries. "Ehh, it's cool. Don't worry, we're still good." Watching as the steel bird continued its hovering in the air, Joey instead turned his attentions to Jasmine. "That's a pretty clever trick you pulled there. You must've put two an' two together and realised i'd go for such a hit. Heh. Maybe this disinterested thing you got goin' on is an act?" A hand rising to his chin while his other remained pocketed, he caressed the stubble on his chin as it appeared he deeply considered his next move. Still in thought, he began weaving a yarn over his knowledge of Skarmory in general. "I've a good friend who owns a Skarmory. I know they're pretty hard nosed in general and your one looks no different. So I know they can take a hit or two but..."
Having reached his conclusion it appeared the bandanna wearing male had decided on his move. He could have easily followed suit as Jasmine had and switched to a Pokemon better equipped in dealing with such a defensive fortress but to do such a thing would be insulting his own Pokemon's strength. "I get yer whole schtick is defence is the best offence. But maybe i'll disagree with ya on that one. I'm gonna play the offence is the best offence. Skarmory are tough but my buddy here ain't no slouch, are ya Volt?" Raising his arms, Voltek let off a few sparks. "If we can't hit you on the ground then maybe we'll have to clip those wings a lil'." Thrusting a pointed finger forwards with his command, Joey cried out. "Voltek! Swap it up a little and go with Wild Charge! Give it your all!" A sudden deluge of sparks coursing off, Voltek acknowledged. "Finally, I get to show off my electrical strength. This time I will hit my mark." Knowing full well this gym leader was wily enough to force a stalemate for the turn, Joey was keen to press on showing off the ability of his Pokemon to exploit multiple weaknesses.

VS. Jasmine | -- Jasmine was never much one for conversation. It was probably since she had been so timid from a young age. Talking to people did not come easy to her, and even after becoming a Gym Leader this fact didn't change. Though she could prove her worth in battle, her social skills were the thing that really needed work. "Yes. I could see it within your eyes." She responded when Joey mentioned her switch out. It hadn't been very hard to figure out. Even if the move had been on a Pokemon of misleading typing, she knew the look of trainers about to whip out a ground type move. "You are...quite the strange one Joey. But I do enjoy the enthusiasm of an opponent such as yourself." She swallowed a breath, and next, she watched as Joey ordered a Wild Charge of Voltek. Electricity began gathering around the powered creature, and Skarmory watched with a heavy glare, of which all of his kind happened to carry. Then Voltek charged, and though Skarmory tried to move it could not avoid the hit which sent it flying into the wall. It collapsed to the ground as Voltek felt the recoil of his move, and it looked for a moment as if it were out. "Dear Skarmory...I know you are stronger than this. Please rise." After another moment, the Skarmory began struggling and finally got to its feet. 'Skaaaaar!' It cried, wide wings outstretched in all their glory. "Wonderful...now, Stealth Rock, leave your mark on our opponents for turns to come!" She called. Skarmory made a loud screeching sound as large pillars began materializing around Voltek. They were almost serrated looking rocks, which could easily tell Joey his future send outs might be in trouble. -- Battle! Hearing her mention about the look in his eyes, he rolled them as he let out a puff of air that blew some of the hair that had slipped past his bandanna. He had usually been able to bluff his way through by going with his patented wild expression but it was obvious Jasmine was quite the trainer to see through his visage. "Heh, you're a skilled trainer indeed. I just hope I can work on not being so obvious in the future. Can tell if I can be read that easy it's gonna hit me when it matters the most. Like when I make it to the championships or face off against some no good Rockets." Shaking his head and brushing off what he had said with a nonchalant shrug, he pushed on. "Gotta remember that too. Readin' people's eyes." Falling unusually quiet for a chatty soul such as himself, he fixated his ocean blue eyes on Jasmine's, not breaking them for a while until the next round began under way between their Pokemon. At which point Jasmine let slip another comment. Was it possible she was beginning to come out of her shell? "Hah, a strange one? I'm guessin' you don't get many leather clad rogue's comin' through Olivine?" A cocky grin spreading over his face, he was glad he had the chance to engage with her some more.
Hopefully the outcome of this next round wouldn't damage any progress he had made. It was all very well coming into these gym fights looking to dominate and achieve victory but he was hoping to make acquaintances with the people that owned these gyms. Even if he didn't win his shot at the champion, hopefully having the backing of eight respected gym leaders would put a good word in about his character. Snapping into the fore of the battle with his attention, he watched as Voltek went flying forwards in a dogged charge, rogue sparks of electricity flying off in all directions, it was like thunder itself was assaulting forwards. Taking a look at the Skarmory's steely gaze, Joey yelled out once more to support his Pokemon. "Give it yer best shot, Volt! Skarmory are tough but you're tougher! Let rip that strength of yours!" Amazingly honing in on the Skarmory as it tried to dodge, the sudden impact caused the steel bird to go flying off as it hit the wall with definite force. Voltek too was struck back by the blow and went flying backwards with a skid before reaching a halt before Joey. "Woah, you alright?" Saying nothing, Voltek merely groaned before sitting up and caressing his head. "This... Is nothing. I can still fight!" Getting to his feet, the combination of Joey and his Electivire would be met with the sudden appearance of rock like obstacles forming around them.
Narrowing his eyes as he tried to work out their presence, he realised it wasn't an offensive move but rather something to impede their chances in the future. "Phew, we're alright for now Volt. Bit of a tight squeeze, huh?" Letting out a small laugh, Voltek made sure not to get in the way of any of the rocks. "I will crush through them if needs be. We must continue the offensive. I will bring the hammer down and strike like lightning." Sensing his Pokemon's determination to see this through despite having sustained some recoil damage, Joey gave an understanding nod. "Whatever you say. How about we go with lightning striking twice. Wild Charge again!" Having noticed the Skarmory had taken some severe damage from Voltek's elemental attack, it seemed prudent to continue that line of attack. With Voltek carefully dodging the upturned rocky spikes on the floor whilst charging up, Joey looked over the flashing sparks and called out to Jasmine some more. "As I already told ya, i'm kinda new round here. What's a guy to do in Olivine?" Actually inquisitive of what there was to do in Olivine, he meant it as a genuine question and not one to put her mind off the battle itself.

VS. Jasmine | -- She watched him carefully. For sure, this man was a powerful challenger. She was happy she had trusted her instinct, decided not to write him off so easily, or else she would have been down to her very last Pokemon. And that would have been unfortunate, she was truly starting to enjoy herself. What people, as Joey didn't seem to realize, was that Jasmine was much more observant than she looked."Not many no. Unless you count the biker gang that came through when I was a young girl." She recalled. Yes, Joey did indeed remind her of those folks. Jasmine's attention snapped back to the field as Voltek charged towards Skarmory once again. This time, Skarmory didn't try to get away. "Brace yourself!" Jasmine commanded. The Pokemon nodded and took a bracing position, this time not flying back into a wall when Voltek hit it."Skarmory..." Jasmine ushered out as it hit the floor and Voltek once again felt the recoil from his onslaught. "You've done your part, now return." The Skarmory vanished in a flash of red, and Jasmine pulled out another Pokeball. "I hope you aren't underestimating me just yet, Joey. Steelix, go!" The pokeball flew open, and what came out towered over both Joey and Voltek with a might roar of its name."I trust in you to make Skarmory proud, Steelix." She said, gently running her hand over a small chunk of the beasts cool steel body before stepping back. "Ah...to do? There is the Glitter Lighthouse, I would look there. Do you not think that's a good idea Steelix?" The Steelix roared again. "I have a dear friend who lives there, and he'd be happy for some company."--Battle!Jasmine's Skarmory: | Level 43 | Health: 0/122 HP Status: NormalSkarmory Fainted!VS. His interest piqued at the mention of a biker gang, he raised an eyebrow with playful intrigue and wondered what gang that could've been. "A biker gang, ehhhh? Heh. Reminds me of the days I ran with the KBF. Too bad they got disbanded." What had been a fun road to go down had become somewhat bittered by his memories of the gang being disbanded. Framed by Team Rocket and having that perilous escape from the authorities, an event where Joey lost his prized Pokemon, it was a reminder that gangs as wild as that didn't last all that long in the grand scheme of things. Thankfully he still had his own and they would ride on forever. "I've got my own biker gang. Maybe i'll have the whole group come wheelin' in and give you a wave. I know they've been itching to up and go some place." Trying to put aside his memories of that fateful day, he pushed on by honing in on the battle itself. Having gotten over the sudden surprise of his Pokemon being swapped, it meant Voltek had a much better time of striking now he knew his enemy's weak points. Skarmory were certainly stalwart, resilient creatures but everything had its Achilles heel. In this case, it was the power of Voltek's electricity. Striking forwards with his mighty legs slamming into the ground and causing electricity to go flying off in all directions, the hulking Electivire took a massive leap as he went flying through the air, his shoulder pushed out in order to connect the charge. That wasn't all however, in the general area of his shoulder were his two cable like tails which were ready let loose high voltage.
"Hit 'em Volt!" Yelled out Joey as he was on the edge of his seat. Looking up with exhilaration filling his visage, it was battles such as these that he had been truly seeking. White knuckle, no holes barred thrill seeking. He had definitely made the right choice in coming here so early. Sight seeing was fun and all but for him this was the true attraction of the city. As the two Pokemon connected with one another, the sheer impact was plain to see. Engulfing the area in a flash of energy, the two Pokemon rebounded off one another as soon as Voltek let loose his discharge from the charge. Skidding backwards with similar recoil as before, Joey watched as the smoke from the collision dissipated allowing him to get a clear shot of the outcome. Triumphant over his Pokemon's fortitude, Joey clapped his hand before punching up in the air. "Woooooo~oooooooooooh! Damn Voltek! You are one tough customer. You overpowered even that Skarmory. Maybe there'll be some hope if I ever get on the wrong side of Starscream if you're backin' me up in that corner, hahaha." Brushing aside the amusing image of Voltek acting as guardian after being foiled by Tanya's Pokemon, Joey looked over as Jasmine recalled her Pokemon. Even after such a gruelling round, she remained steeled in her confidence. Not a sign of hesitation or concern. She reinforced the steel typing image very well.
As she spoke out to remind him not to underestimate her, Joey shook his head. He had a habit of congratulating his Pokemon after every fight so it was meant as no disservice to her own efforts. Cocking a grin, he called out back before she summoned the Pokemon. "Haha, if there's one thing i've learnt, it's never to underestimate your opponent. If anything I was admiring your resilience. You're as tough as they come. Only thing I will say though is, whatever had got you so down earlier... Must be someone important to you. Maybe even... A dear friend in the lighthouse?" Flashing her a cheeky grin, he may have come across as something of an idiot to most people but he was adept on picking up and reading situations. If a quiet girl such as Jasmine had someone she called a dear friend, it was likely this so called friend would be able to exert such an influence on her. Resilient and similar to the type she had expertise in, she would also reflect the fact steel could bend under enough stress. Clicking his neck side to side, he wind milled his right arm around to limber himself up for the taxation of another round. Voltek too was powering up with a few sparks flying off his fur as he pounded the side of his head with his hefty fists. As her Pokeball went flying out and burst apart, littering the opposite side of the pitch in light, Joey stuttered as Voltek stood up fully, his mouth opening as they looked up the colossal opponent they were to face.
"Arceus H. Chris..." Mouthed Joey. "That... That is one huge foe." Taking a few moments to take in the sheer size of their challenge, Joey shook his head abruptly to try and get himself back into the fight. "Joe. I know I have sustained injuries but I am still good to fight on! I can strike at this metal snake with a precision blow." Not doubting his Pokemon, he was too worried about his chances given how long he had been in the fight. "Nah, stand back. You've fought hard, going up against three whole Pokemon at this point, weakening one, defeating the other. I'm not gonna push you to take on this behemoth." Somewhat disappointed by the choices, Voltek was suddenly reminded of Joey's kindness. If this had been his original trainer, the abusive one who had originally trained him from the beginning, he would have pressed on regardless. Flashing Joey a friendly smile beneath his furry coating, Voltek straightened up and nodded. "Very well. I will stand down. Oof...!" Staggering forward a little, the Pokemon went to reach at his stomach. Obviously he had put up a good act to remain in as long as he had. Stepping forward to try and support the lumbering giant, Joey helped him off to the side. "C'mon Volt. You stay here with me. Front row seats. The best, eh?" Laughing off his Pokemon's injuries to not cause more worry and concern, he instead took in the foe once more. It was a lengthy foe, massive in size also and the steel coating it boasted looked as if not even the fiercest of strikes could dent its armour.
If anything it reminded him of a certain Pokemon. "Mental note to self, I best remember never to let my Onix roll about in any metal." Shifting his eyes from the Steelix to Jasmine, Joey surmised the two might be connected. "Steelix is the evolved form of an Onix, yeah?" Looking back to the daunting Steelix's expression, similar in itself to Uragaan's, Joey murmured. "Yeah, it must be..." Such a gigantic foe would take a great amount of strength and strategy to beat. He had Chugga who was a defensive wall in itself and could surely whittle down this beast's strength. But with how confident this metal creature was, it would be too much offensive might for Chugga to take on alone. Hoodlum, as brain dead as he was, boasted some keen strength and could likely go toe to toe for a bit but ultimately, not even the Pokemon's fierce fighting kicks or deft punching blows would be enough. His hand hovering over Calistra's Pokeball, he wondered if he could utilise the power of her illusions but ultimately she would be unable to strike any decisive blows. Gritting his teeth in frustration, he had but two Pokemon left. Doopliss, whilst young and naive had perhaps the greatest power out of all the ones he possessed. He could not only steal the Pokemon's identity he was facing but out speed them too. It looks like those Rocket experiments had some use.
The only problem was, throwing him out with all these rock hazards in the way would likely mean he would copy the wrong thing. His hand falling on the last ball, it was none other than Slash. Making a feline cat go up against a dreadful metal snake was like David versus Goliath. Except there would be no chance of victory. Grasping the Pokeball away from his holster, he held it up before him and realised this would have to be the best strategy. It was two fold of course. Slash would go in there, nimble as he was, strike some surprise into the heart of the opponent and leave it such a shock one of his other Pokemon could deal with it. He just hoped he could get Slash out in time. "Y'know, I can see why you'd be wary of people underestimating. A cute gal such as yerself packin' such a fearsome lookin' behemoth like that. It's not somethin' I can see most people expectin'." Curious as to how she may have come into possession of such a vast monster, he decided to shrug it off and not pry. "But I hope you don't underestimate my own choice this time around. You've probably already taken your measure of me. Thinkin' i'm a wild, reckless and loud type of trainer. Voltek sorta fits in with that and a number of my other Pokemon do as well I guess. But hopefully this won't be too much of a surprise. You're up Slash! Let's hustle!" Tossing the ball forward and watching as it split in two, the light beamed into their side of the pitch revealing none other than a diminutive Meowth.
Sadly, the entrance was definitely botched. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! WHAT THE HELL KINDA WELCOME IS THAT?! YEOW!!" Stabbing accidentally into the stealth rocks that had been hazardously placed around, Joey clawed his face. "Dammit, I forgot to warn ya... Sorry Slash!" Eventually getting some compromise on the littered ground he was fighting on, Slash turned to face Joey and gave him a rude gesture, one hand punching upwards under the other. "Yeah, nice of ya. Next time don't even think about sendin' me out like that... Sheesh. What is this anyway? A gym?" Turning around having realised what was going on, he mouthed off before fully turning. "What sorta chump we facin' against now... Heheh... Oh... Oh my effin'..." Standing with his neck craning fully upwards, the Pokemon's bandanna around his mouth slowly slipped downwards, revealing his open maw staring in sheer awe of the size of the Steelix, light reflecting off its mighty metal coat. Snapping out of his surprise, Slash cried out with a rueful meow. "YOU WANT ME TO FACE OFF AGAINST THAT?! JOEY?! HAVE YOU LOST YA GODDAMN MARBLES?! I spend enough time back at the warehouse as it is tryin' to avoid gettin' flattened by Uragaan. Dammit, you're mental." Shaking his head, Joey chuckled. He knew there was a way to push Slash's buttons to get him to be more co-operative when it came to impossible battles like this.
"Pffffft. So much reluctance from someone I call my partner in crime. You sure you ain't losin' your touch there, eh? Maaaan... Maybe i'll have to bring Sly tagging along instead for our... Err..." Looking up to Jasmine, he didn't want it slipping out he was a thief. Choosing his next few words carefully, he looked back down and decided on something ambiguous. "Errands." Flinching an eye angrily, Slash's reaction was what Joey had aimed for. Bullseye. "I'll make ya eat yer words! I'll have you thankin' me for gettin' this one in the bag." Turning back and pulling up his cloth, he slashed out his long claws and got ready for a fight. Observing the change in Slash's demeanour, Joey laughed. "Hahahaha, I was only messin' But if you're feelin' up for the challenge, how about we play this carefully with a Fake Out. Our foe looks like a tough son of a gun but I bet he'll flinch just like every other living soul out there." Leaning forwards shadily, Slash mumbled. "Fake Out, eh? This'll be a joke." Realising getting to the Steelix and utilising fake out well enough would be a challenge in itself, the Pokemon began looking around for a means of trying to assail closer to the Pokemon's head in order to truly make the fake out work. Still clutching his side, Voltek cried out for some last minute advice. "Slash, use your smaller size to your advantage. The foe is massive but that does not always act as positive."
OOC: Swapping to Slash. He holds a Muscle Feather which adds +1 attack upon entry and uses up the feather freeing up his item slot. Using Fake Out.

As Jasmine heard Joey mention he had a biker gang of his own she was intrigued. She always loved how shiny the bikes the old gang used to have and so long as they did not harm her friend in the lighthouse she saw any potential visitors as a welcomed bunch. " I would very much like that actually so long as they get along with my friend in the lighthouse. I am sure he would like some company from them as well. I do hope he is doing well since it has been a few days since I saw him last." As she finished speaking Steelix roared yet again as it was friends with the Pokemon in the lighthouse as well. As her attention turned back to the battle she was quite impressed to see such a powerful Pokemon take down her Skarmory as most trainers did not prepare to face such a unique steel type. Jasmine being level headed and calm under pressure however was not about to give in just because her surprise had not been enough to beat her challenger if anything it made her realize this was indeed a worthy challenger which she had not encountered in some time. As her Steelix stretched out across the battlefield the giant snake looked at Joey's next Pokemon with a bit of suspicion. The snake was not sure why he had chosen a Meowth but Steelix did not like the vibes she was getting. The giant steel type had a feeling he would try a sneaky move with this Meowth as there was not way he was seriously going to try and actually win the battle using physical moves unless he was insane and the way he spoke did not make Jasmine or Steelix think he was insane. As they both looked at Joey neither one was quite sure what he was up to but as Jasmine was not one to take reckless chances she was determined to knock out the Meowth before it could become a problem. " Steelix give it everything you got and use Earthquake on this Meowth." As Steelix was about to slam it's tail on the ground to cause an Earthquake Slash made his move. He ran towards the snake with his claws extended. Steelix had to stop it's attack as it tried to protect itself but Slash proved to fast. He managed to scratch Steelix right below the eyes with his claws. Even though the attack did minimal damage to the giant steel Pokemon it completely lost focus as a result of the attack and was unable to make a move. When Steelix stood idly by instead of making an attack Jasmine realized what Joey had been planning all along. Now that sturdy would not longer be in effect she had to rely purely on her teams defense along for the rest of the battle. " I did not see that coming but I must admit it is a good strategy. You seem to have a bit more skill than I had thought but I am far from defeated." Pokemon Gym Battle

Tensing his eyes a little, he realised she had skipped his question entirely. "So er... Is that why you were so worried and upset a few moments ago? Because of your friend? I can imagine being away from them having to do this must be tough if they need your support." Reading a bit between the lines there, it was the only way he could fathom her being so off. Jumping a little at the sudden roar from the Steelix it appeared as if this friend was worthy of so much affection. Perhaps he'd have to go and have a visit at some point. Aside from grabbing gym badges, thrill seeking and giving Team Rocket a good hiding, its not like he had much else to do. Sizing up the pre battle confrontations of the opponent, Joey narrowed his eyes inquisitively as he noticed the definite look of uncertainty on the Steelix's eyes. "Heh, good. Being a large beast like that, people must always go for their biggest and baddest to rise to the challenge. I bet this has let just enough confusion settle in to take advantage o' this." Thankfully as well, Jasmine took the bait. Hoping to thwart his Pokemon fast enough, the sound of Earthquake being ordered made Joey tense up a little and a cold bead of sweat run down his forehead. "If this screws up... He's gonna have to face such a devastating move."
Voltek too appeared aware of this, siding to Joey, growled in his language, hoping his trainer would understand. "Joe, you need to retreat Slash one this is done. I have the greatest of faith in my ally but there are some battles that are unable to be won." Nodding his head, Joey picked up on what his Pokemon was trying to convey. "I know, I know. As soon as we land this hit i'll be recallin' him. I just wanted to unnerve our foe is all." Looking back, Joey had trouble at first trying to locate Slash but he eventually honed in on his Meowth's lithe movements. Utilising the safe sides of the stealth rock to bound from one to the other, the quick thinking Meowth rose in height and was able to dab at the Steelix's face. The moment the move connected, Joey raised his fists into the air passionately with triumph as it was clear the attack had been averted. No longer would the tail come crashing down to send shockwaves out to attack. "HAHA! Alright! Good goin' Slash! You pulled it off!" Kicking off against the Steelix's head, Slash back flipped to the safety of their corner and landed nimbly on all fours before raising to stand on his hind legs with his forepaws' claws still outstretched. "Heh, of course I pulled it off. Y'think i'd back out with my reputation bein' insulted." Leering his eyes, the Pokemon appeared very much affixed to the Steelix itself. Taking out his Pokeball for Slash, Joey called out. "Ok my friend, time to return. You've helped out loads. Come back where it-" "I'm not retreating. Not just yet."
His jaw dropping, Joey didn't quite follow. "HUH?! You best return. You won't be able to defend yerself long enough out there." Looking over his shoulder, the Meowth let out a staunch cry. Given how close he had got and his skills as a thief, it seemed as if he had picked up on something stashed away. "I'm not done. When I got close to ugly up there I noticed it was holding a sitrus berry. If you damage that beast enough it's only gonna heal up. A job like this. It's fit for a cat thief like me." Looking back and raising his paws again, Slash was determined. Able to understand his Pokemon was adamant to remain in, Joey looked up and tried to look over the Steelix once more. Looking with greater scrutiny, it seemed as if he too picked up on the hidden item there. "Well i'll be damned. I had almost overlooked it. But Slash, you know if you stick in..." "Dammit Joe! Of course I know. I'm not doin' this because i'm stupid. I'll be able to grab that. I guarantee it. But it's gonna leave me wide open... Tell Selina I love her." Saying nothing more, Slash began dashing over once more and would somehow utilise the larger stealth rocks to rise up in height in order to use thief and secure the troubling item. "SLASH!" Yelled out Joey as by then, it was too late. His Pokemon had acted out on his own.
OOC: Hey March, you may have missed out on this but Slash should have lowered HP due to the stealth rocks. It'd be 12.5% off his total HP. I've fixed it now for you but just to keep in mind.
Slash decides to go on ahead and use Thief.

VS. Jasmine | -- "Yes, my friend is quite the dear." Jasmine mentioned cheerfully. She remembered their last visit. Come to think of it, he had looked a little sick...She frowned briefly. "Please, if you have the chance, go visit my friend, he would love the company." She assured him with a gentle smile. She watched as the Meowth and trainer conversed.
"If you'd like to switch out we wouldn't mind...waiting?" She watched as the Meowth charged forwards again. Steelix let out a loud groan as she felt the Meowth traveling up to her sitrus berry. <<Do you not realize where you belong, insolent cat?>> She rumbled, as Slash finally grabbed the berry. Recognizing the signs that her Steelix was agitated, Jasmine reached out in vain.
"Oh my...Steelix, please don't..." Steelix normally listened well to Jasmine, but today, this cat needed to be taught a lesson. <<I am sorry, Lady Jasmine...but all creatures must learn...THEIR PLACE!>> As Slash began making his way back to Joey's side, Steelix's tail lit up.
"Steelix please! There is no need for such extremes!" But Steelix was no longer listening to her as her large tail came crashing down with an extra hard force onto Slash, the cat toppling down beneath it. "Steelix...Oh dear Steelix what have you done?" Jasmine murmured as the proud creature lifted her tail.
The cat underneath alongside a squished berry was gasping for breath, all the wind knocked out of his lungs thanks the the tail's sheer force. "Oh Joey..." Jasmine murmured as she watched the cat sputter out a bit of blood. "I'm...so Sorry....Steelix isn't normally so..so..." she looked up at Steelix, who had an indifferent look on her face. "If you need to get him medical attention..I can seek assistance..." Out of all her challengers, none had ever suffered Steelix's iron tail to this degree.--Battle!Jasmine's Steelix ♀ |

His teeth gritted as he watched his Pokemon leap off into danger, there wasn't a thing Joey could do. He had goaded him into this so ultimately he could only himself. He had not expected him to go this far to prove a point. "Dammit Slash... You don't need to play the hero." Watching with horror as well, Voltek knew all too well what would happen if that Steelix was able to get off a successful hit. The flinch had been fortuitous and had meant he could've lasted longer that what he usually would have done but now, he was going to face the full wrath. He was the nimblest, stealthiest cat around but there was no hope in dodging a foe so behemoth in size. Pacing quicker and quicker as Slash made his ascent, the cat listened out to the Steelix denouncing its efforts. Letting out a cocksure smirk, he wouldn't be deterred. Not now. "Ahh shut it. You sound just like all the ticked off residents back in New Bark. A dirty thief like you don't belong in such a nice area, you're a despicable blight on our fair town. Do you not know your place?!" Obviously striking bit of nerve with the Meowth from all the years of abuse and insults volleyed at him when he struggled to live day in, day out. Hearing a similar sort of wording being thrown at him now only spurred him on.
"I know my place! It's not in the limelights. Its to the shadows. But when i'm needed i'll gladly step up to help out those who I care about. I'll gladly show you what i've learnt fending for myself growing up. Kiss goodbye to that hidden trick you had up yer sleeve!" Finally reaching up to where the sitrus berry was subtly hidden between her joints, the Meowth kicked off her body as he clasped triumphantly the berry in his claws. Landing, Slash looked up with some fear in his eyes as he could tell he had ticked off his opponent to the extreme now. "I GOT IT! Up yours!" Hoping to get out and live to tell the tale, Slash began his full on retreat, scampering back over to their side of the battlefield. Sadly, Jasmine's Steelix would be having none of it. "DAMMIT SLASH! Drop the berry and just leggit! It can have its berry, just save your own rear!" Hearing the mighty bellow of the Steelix, all the Pokemon of Joey's could tell what would happen next. "SLASH! RUN!" Boomed Voltek as well adding to the confusion. As the tail of the steel snake lit up, Joey mouthed some words of prayer to whatever deity would listen but knew it would be to no avail. Watching as the iron tail struck out with merciless prejudice, there was no way his Pokemon could've dodge it. Slamming down forcefully, Joey's eyes winced painfully as he cried out. "Slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaash!"
Forgetting they were in the middle of a battle, Joey launched himself over into the battlefield, even ruining his perfectly good biking boots with all the stealth rocks and hurtled his way over to his crushed Pokemon. Seeing him spit out blood, he knew his Pokemon was in terrible shape. "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon...!" Lifting him up, he could already tell he had suffered broken bones in various places and was severely broken from the impact of the move. "H-Hey... What'cha... F-Fussin' for... I... Showed 'em... G-Good... Unnnngh..." Having lifted up his paw with the squashed berry being presented to Joey, the biker grasped tighter onto his Pokemon. Wanting to burst out with sorrow, he had to do everything in his power to remain in control of the situation. Cradling him close, he was so tempted to forfeit this match and make his way as quickly as possible to the nearest Pokemon Centre. He had stupidly only just entered town and had no idea where it was. But he would find it. Ignoring the fact a looming Steelix was opposite him and he was in the middle of a gym battle, it would be Jasmine's words which bought him back with the present. "Huh? Hmm... It's cool. It's cool..." Scooping Slash up properly, he walked solemnly back to his quarter of the battlefield and raised a Pokeball to return Slash safely until he could get proper medical attention. Looking down at the ground, the typically cocky, reckless soul was remarkably shaken.
Eventually finding his words, he looked up with a definite off feeling to his expression as he acknowledged Jasmine's apology. "Like I said. It's cool. This is all on me. I came bargin' in here. Not givin' my Pokemon enough training. Thinkin' this was all some game. Dared my Pokemon into goin' up against ya Steelix and making him think he had somethin' to prove." Folding his arms, he let out a sigh. "It's all on me. Don't worry yourself." Receiving a pat on his back cumbersomely from Voltek's hefty muscles, his Pokemon joined in his trainer's regret. "Joe. Slash is a headstrong character. He knew full well what he was getting in to and if he didn't like it, he would not have done so." His growl low and showing some care from the gentle giant, Joey looked to his fluffy Electivire and nodded, somewhat getting the gist of his words. "We best split. Just not ready for this." Gripping his shoulder reassuringly, Voltek gave Joey a stern look of assurance. "No. We continue on. Slash would have wanted this. We shall honour his sacrifice. To leave now would be an insult to what he did for us here today. I shall step up to the... Oof." Clutching his stomach again, it was clear despite his adamant stance, he was not able to continue on the fight by himself. "Dammit Volt, I don't want you gettin' destroyed like that too. Argh."
Knowing he couldn't back out now with Slash performing such a selfless deed, he would push on. So far he had utilised Pokemon which had been with him since the very beginning of his journey in Johto. "Perhaps I oughta carry on the trend." His hand plucking a Pokeball off of his belt holster, Joey enlarged it and raised his arm out to summon his Pokemon forward. "Chugga, let's do this." Appearing from out of the ball's light, his bubbly, floating Weezing remained perfectly undaunted by being called forth and facing such a gigantic enemy. "What's happenin', brah?" "WASSUP!" The two heads exclaimed. Swirling around, Chugga instantly took note of Voltek shaking his head warningly that some deep matters had unfolded. "Slash... He... Took one for the team. He's in a pretty poor shape. He's been beaten up before but this time..." Trailing off, Voltek's eyes faltered to the ground as he remembered just how crooked his body had been wrought by the forceful impact of the iron tail the Steelix possessed. Floating back around and looking up to the Steelix the Weezing fumbled around his lips before coming to a conclusion. "Brah, i've got this. Leave it to me." "REVENGE!" Turning over to Jasmine, Joey decided to confirm what had just happened was nothing something he held a grudge against her with.
"Jasmine... I don't blame ya for that ok? We all have Pokemon which sometimes get a bit over the line. Hell, Volt here used to be a real wild child. Then there's some Pokemon who get on like oil and water. They just don't mix. I don't pretend to know what Pokemon say but I can imagine Slash can be an offensive little bugger when he wants to be." Looking up to her Steelix, Joey gave her a salute in acknowledgement. "Sorry if he said anythin', alright?" Turning back to Jasmine and flashing her a cheerful grin, he tried to put aside his worry for his Pokemon and gave her a thumbs up. "Slash, Voltek... And Chugga here too. These guys have been with me since I set foot here in Johto. We've fought so hard to get where we are and we ain't stoppin' now. We're gonna realise our dream so don't think this is it. When Slash comes to, i'll let him paw around with whatever shiny badge it is you give out around here." Shifting his attention to Chugga, he ordered a move hoping to keep up the momentum of battle. "Chugga! Use Flamethrower!" Letting out a puff of smoke, the Pokemon would be able to use this to ignite flames and send them forth towards its opposition. "Flame on, brah." "BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN!"
OOC: Chugga uses Flamethrower. Reminding of Stealth Rock and Chugga also holding a Rocky Helmet.
