Post theme."Mummy! Mummy! MUUUUUM! LOOK AT THAT MAN! LOOK!" Yelling at the top of their lungs, it appeared a young child had noticed something on the beach that had piqued their interest. Eventually prizing over their mother, the woman let out a shocked gasp as she covered her mouth before realising she ought to cover her child's innocent eyes. "Oh my! Look away now! Not something we should be seeing. GOODNESS! HOOLIGANS THESE DAYS!" Stealing their child away, the family disappeared off just as the source of interest began to stir. Groggily turning over to lay flat on his back, it was none other than Joey. Letting out a gargle before spitting up a huge spurt of seawater from his mouth, it seemed as if he had been washed ashore after the revenge attempt on his life by the Gyarados out at sea. " Urrrrrrrgh... What the hell..." Blinking as he looked up to the sky, he glared his eyes a little as the sun was strong off the corner of his eyes. A few clouds strolled by leisurely and he even noticed the sound of a few Wingull crying out nosily. His arms brushing a little against the ground beneath him, he noted its grainy texture. " Hmm? Sand?" Sitting up with a strain, he groggily clutched his head as he looked around his vicinity. " Huh, so I washed up on a beach, eh? Phew. Bet that means i'm miles off where I need to be. And where are all my Pokemon? Dammit. And why the hell does it feel so breezy? Oh... Oh crikey." Looking down, his eyes widened immediately as he realised something unfortunate. His swimmers had been lost. " Oh boy. Bet that's gonna scare the locals." Reaching up to touch his head, he was surprised to see his bandanna had miraculously stayed with him. " Pft, figures! Out of all the things I could keep with me and it's this bandanna. Hahaha!" Still really unsure what to do, it appeared he was left in bit of a predicament. No swimmers and no Pokemon. " Dang. Best go sneakin'. Looks like all those years of trainin' with the mentor are about to pay off." Looking over his shoulder as he was sitting up, he made sure nobody was about. Standing up and covering himself to avert any surprised reactions, he stealthily made his way along the beach. " Dunno where the hell I am but it seems pretty deserted. Guess it must be some island or summat from the looks of things. Which is good for me." Grinning wildly, he potted along with a swift jog. Deciding to follow the bend round, he was fortunate to meet a grouping of Pokemon. " GUYS!" Yelling out with resounding joy, it appeared Davy Jones, Yojimbo and Lockjaw were all sitting around looking a bit lost. Even Puka was there, his surf board submerged at the base in the sandy shore. Raising his hands to get their attention, his Pokemon turned around, blinking as if slightly lost. " Oh! Right...! Shoot. Don't worry. I washed up ok too." Dashing over, he looked around to make sure no one else is about. "First thing's first. We need to find out where we are. Stay here, i'll do a bit of recon." Noticing a beaten path leading off upwards out of the beach, he decided it was be best to follow it along. Slowly making his way there, he rolled over into a seaside bush as he poked his head out to survey what was before him. " What the hell?! Is this some sorta seaside town or somethin'?" Noting the sparse settlement, it had a very traditional seaside town vibe to it. " Guess I ain't too far from civilisation then. Hmm..." His eye dotting over before noticing the familiar sight of a Pokemon Centre logo spinning. " Alright! Lady Luck has at least given me some love today. Just gotta get in there, get some backup from Pokemon back at the warehouse and tell Cali and Hood to get their butts over here. Then we can find this pharmacy. Better get to it... Ah." About to stand out of the bush, he stopped as he realised it would likely be an act of public indecency if he strolled into the Pokemon Centre without a care in the world wearing next to nothing. " G'damnit. Nothin' is ever easy is it." Mumbling to himself, he withdrew from the bush and made his way back to his Pokemon. If he couldn't get there, he would just ask his Pokemon too. Returning Lockjaw and Puka, he looked to Yojimbo and Davy. " Alright guys, take these Pokeballs, you get back to base and get some help from there. Use this ID to login. While you're at it, try and get Cali and Hood here too, eh? With my clothes." Nodding, Davy took the Pokeballs and ID and with that, the two Pokemon were off. Thankfully actually having some intelligence about them, the odd duo of bodyguard otter and pirate octopus made their way to the Pokemon centre. Making their way past the sliding doors, the centre was virtually empty but the few trainers who were there gave some fairly uncertain looks. This was tempered even further when Davy Jones stood in front of a PC and Yojimbo clambered on top of him to just barely be able to reach the keyboard. Fumbling about, the Pokemon was able to login, eventually videoing with Joey's warehouse. Seemingly no one in, a gradual appearance of a ghostly face nearly had Yojimbo fall off. " Ehhhhhheheheheheh. You look like you just seen a ghost, Yojimbo! Mwahahahaha!" Laughing manically as he clutched onto his stomach, the otter leered his eyes and began flinging his arms around in the hope his recounting of events would not be wasted on Dante. " Well. Hm. I don't really follow but it seems like you want me to swap places. Heh! Why not. A spook's gotta float outta the house sometime. Hey Doop, let'... Oh?" Turning away from the screen, it seemed a certain baritone voice had picked up conversation with Dante. " Fufufufufu... Do allow me to accompany. I feel so terrible for my transgression earlier. I owe it to Joey to repay the favour." Raising an incredulous eyebrow, Dante appeared to be speaking with none other than Mephisto. " Pft, my spectre senses are tingling. You're up to somethin'. Meh. I can take ya even if ya do. We best hurry." About to transfer themselves, Yojimbo flung his arms across as if to stop that from happening. He had forgotten one other port of call. Fumbling again to open up a new chat window, he connected with the computer suite that was logged in back at Olivine. Revealing Hoodlum snoozing, almost falling off the bed, and a haughty Calistra moodily contemplating in a chair, she came over as she noticed the otter appear up on the screen. " Oh. It's you. What is it? We've not changed our minds. We will not be swimming." Watching as he repeated the same actions as before, Calistra rolled her eyes and sighed wearily. " Of course he would somehow rile up Gyarados and get swept away at sea. Of course... Very well. Transferring." Shaking his head as he remembered he had forgotten to mention about the clothes, it all too late, Yojimbo and Davy Jones along with the other Pokeballs they had were digitised and sucked up into the computer. Reappearing with a sudden flash, Calistra and Hoodlum reappeared in Cianwood Pokemon Centre. At this point, the onlookers were now blinking their eyes and causing indents on the floor with their chins dropping so hard. About to log off from the PC, Calistra noticed a chat window still up. Maximising it, she blinked with disinterest as Dante and Mephisto were leaning in. " YOJIMBO! What's the hold up, ya crazy otter?! I am not payin' you a fee to get transf- OH! Why heeeeeello Cali. Lookin' as sharp as ever there, heheh. Where'd Yojimbo go?" Jumping himself, Dante floated around as he noticed the otter was now behind him, having been transferred back. " Ahhh dammit. C'mon, we gotta go help Joemeister." Clicking the accept, Dante and Mephisto's Pokeballs came through, to which Calistra picked up. " Right, let us find this simpleton. I can almost sense his aura nearby." Plodding out with Hoodlum in tow, that was perhaps the most weirdest scene to have unfolded in the Pokemon Centre. Strolling along, passing by a number of buildings, they eventually found the secluded beach Joey had hid himself in. Mere seconds in spotting him, Calistra came to a halt. Her face was shadowed by her fringe and it seemed was not at all impressed by his current state. Hoodlum on the other hand burst out with raucous laughter. This was only exacerbated further when Joey stood to raise his hands and wavy his arms thoroughly to get their attention. Not that he needed to any further at that point. " AYYYYYY J-BALLER! YO' REAL O.G. GOIN' BUCKWILD! RE-PRE-SENT, YO!" Looking up, still covering himself, Joey beamed. " Hey guys! Glad Yojim and Davy got you guys. So where's my clothes?" " ...Clothes? Nothing was said about clothes." Looking up with a murderous glare in her eyes, it seemed Calistra was very uncomfortable seeing her trainer so exposed. " Hmph! Only a simpleton would lose his clothing but keep his bandanna!" Raising her hand and with a feisty click of her fingers, dressed Joey from head to toe in the power of her illusions. " I had seen a number of human males wear this attire in this location. Deal with it." Freeing himself up, he looked from head to toe and gawked. " But Cali... This is... Oh come on this is total tourist gear!" Wearing a gaudy Hawaiian shirt, khaki cargo shorts and plain sandals, it was almost as if Joey was taking a vacation from his goal. " Meh whatever. Least I won't be offendin' the locals. But seriously, where are my clothes?" Making something of a shrug, Calistra shook her head. " We can get them later. Are you not worried about Slash? Come. There was a... IDIOT! MOVE!" Unable to get there in time, Calistra hoped her warning would be enough to get him out of harm's way. All of a sudden, off by the cliff they had been standing under, a number of rocks had come tumbling down. His ears already picking up on the disturbance, Joey leapt out of danger and flourished at the end with a roll before standing back up in an agile manner. Turning to look where the dust settled, he noticed they had been sitting in a fairly unsafe area. " Phew. Close call. Wait... What's that up there on the cliff?" Having noticed something, Joey narrowed his eyes. It couldn't be... Already sensing a legendary presence, Calistra hissed as she quickly recalled herself and Hoodlum into their Pokeballs. She too had a good enough idea of what was lurking up above. If that were the case, she would need to be out of sight in order to maximise her illusions.

The coast of Cianwood was peaceful and quiet, the rugged cliff side being a safety haven for Pokemon, due to humans finding it difficult to climb and navigate. For a trio of Legendary Pokemon, it had become their more recent hideaway, after being previously found by a certain trainer. Slumbering quietly among the rocky cliff face, there was but one problem with their location and that was the constant tumbling boulders. Their eyes opening in unison, the trio immediately leapt out of the way from the cascading rocks, landing on different ledges. "Hmph. Those Aggron are rampaging again." A cool voice mumbled from the body of the lithe creature, it's large purple mane flowing like water. "It can't be helped. We are safe from the eyes of humans here." A much deeper voice responded, it's tone being almost akin to that of a powerful volcano. "Safe? I don't know about that." The two looking down in the direction their electrical companion gestured to, each of their eyes settled on a human far too familiar. "That is... The human from the tower." "It is unusual for a human to know of our existence, let alone seek us successfully twice in a row." "One thing is certain. He has become stronger, I can feel it."
Since they were still high on the cliff, they still had a chance to escape. Both Entei and Suicune looked to one another and was about to flee upward until they noticed Raikou, it's eyes focused heavily on Joey. "Wait." The electrical beast spoke, halting it's companions. "I wish to challenge him this time. Entei, you gave up far too quickly. I want to see his true limits. To find us once more, he possesses incredible luck." Leaping down first, Suicune rolled it's eyes in disbelief before jumping forward alongside Entei, the trio journeying down the cliff side. For Joe, he could see the very same Legendary Beasts run towards him until swiftly, their mighty paws landed on the sand and they each stood before him. Raikou standing in the centre this time, it's piercing red eyes stared into Joey's own. Oddly, they were silent for much longer than they intended to be. Perhaps picking up on Joe's true appearance and what he would look like without the aid of Calistra's illusions and finding themselves speechless at the image. They were practically Gods after all, a bit of trickery wouldn't fool them twice, especially after their previous meeting.
Lifting it's head, Raikou slowly place a paw forward, "Human. You have appeared before us yet again." Pausing, the electric beast narrowed it's eyes, "This time, I will be the one to test your skills. Show us how far you have progressed in such a short space of time." Standing proudly, it seemed that one of the Legendary Beasts were issuing Joey with a challenge.

His eyes peering up trying to distinguish the hint of these three creatures, Joey remained still as it dawned upon him it may very well be the same group of beasts he had encountered in the burnt tower situated in Ecruteak. These weren't just any beasts either. "The legendary beasts...!" Feeling his heart race faster, adrenaline pumping to amp him up for another confrontation, he found it out that oddball Eusine wasn't anywhere to be seen. Probably just as well given he had no clothes on. Looking back down he realised Calistra's illusion was still in power. Having paused momentarily, he would look back up to see the beasts come charging forwards. Watching a blue blur swiftly make its way down, it was none other than the beast known as Suicune. It's movements so smooth it was like watching the beautiful formation of the waves making their way across the beach. Following afterwards with more of an indomitable bound to its step and a not so graceful approach was the fearsome Entei. It's paws slamming down like volcanoes erupting with their fiery might, this was the very same beast that Joey and Calistra had banded together in order to overcome its challenge. Keeping his eye on the beast, he knew Calistra had taken the challenge as a pivotal moment in judging her own strength. Even going so far as to develop her own fire breathing technique to emulate the beast's affinity for fire. Last but not least was the tiger like beast that came thundering down with a mighty charge. Landing in the sand before him as if lightning had struck the ground, Joey tensed his body up. He was in the presence of absolute legends, it was hard not to feel on edge. This wasn't just any mere Pokemon encounter.
Quiet even for a motor mouth such as Joey, he was unsure what to say. Their stares did seem a bit off so perhaps the illusion hadn't fooled them. It was a bit unfortunate but there was little he could do. Eventually, Raikou placed a paw forward as if to initiate a challenge itself. "Heh, I thought it was you guys. So I guess that burnt tower was a bit cramped after all, eh? Gotta say, you're livin' up the high life if you're holidaying it up here." Thinking back to their first encounter, he remembered the unwavering awe he felt in being able to come across the very same Pokemon his mentor had retold him when going over the legendary tales of these beasts. Considering he was up against Raikou, the one in which he always loved his mentor describing, it was getting him pumped like no other. Somehow grasping a Pokeball despite the power of the illusion veiling himself, he lifted it up. At this point, the beasts were aware of Calistra and her game of trickery. However she had grown far stronger in her ability so perhaps he could attempt to pull the proverbial wool over their eyes. In his mind, there was no other choice in Pokemon he would use. He had promised her she would get the chance to fight up against these beasts, to reaffirm her own instincts and strength as a beast of the wild. He knew there was always a deep worry with her she would get too pampered and accustomed to being a trainer's Pokemon.
His hand gripping the Pokeball, he tossed it up and down as he began to weave his disinformation. "A fair few things have happened since our last encounter so i'd be happy to prove our strength." Even though Raikou had explicitly mentioned Joey's own strength, he was keen to ensure he included his Pokemon. For it was thanks to them he was able to get as far as he had. Luck had played into it, there was no doubt. But it was greatly influenced by the sheer tenacity and skill his Pokemon possessed. Hoping to sow the seeds of subterfuge further, he tossed the Pokeball up and down one final time before gripping it passionately and extending it out in front of him. "And if i'm going up the beast of thunder, i've got the perfect choice to go toe to toe with ya. Voltek, it's all you!" Tossing the Pokeball forward, his words on what Pokemon he would be using had been duly noted by the true Pokemon he sent out. Her powers of illusion entering overdrive, she shifted her appearance and by the time she came out of the contraption appeared to be the mighty yeti like beast that was Joey's Electivire, Voltek. "Let us fight with honour. I will spare no ounce of strength in proving my might." Punching his fists together, the Electivire certainly appeared ready to fight. If anything, it was testament to just how well Calistra could manipulate illusions but also how well she could mimic the way others acted. There was more to it than just her uncanny illusions. Grinning raucously, Joey had been sure he had given away no inkling of their plan. Entei had been particularly insightful in being able to discern through her illusions but would they think he'd be stupid enough to try the same slight twice?
"I've come here for a friend. They're pretty beat up and hurt which means i'm not gonna hold back in proving ourselves here today. Doesn't mean i'm gonna enjoy this though." Cocking a grin once more he flung a pointed finger forwards. "Voltek! Use Foul Play!" Giving a stern nod, the Electivire seemingly tensed its body. Entei had been no pushover and given how agile Raikou seemed, it was apparent Calistra knew she was facing a powerful foe indeed.

Ooc: -cues legendary music- Bic: "Beast of thunder it has a nice ring to it." The Raikou growled as he watched the Voltek as he entered the battle field. The Raikou's own ability took into effect as the legendary beast soon felt the area around it cause the pressure to suddenly intensify in the area. This seemed to be noted by the two pokemon that were in the battle especially Callistra as this might be a problem later on. Still as she was disguised as Voltek she heard the call from the trainer as she launched the attack. As Voltek he reached forward and a dark shroud soon followed, striking the ledgendary beaset. he winced, but stood strong. The legendary pokemon was a clear advancement compared to normal pokemon that were out there. In fact he was on a totally different level which made him even more impressive. If anything, Suicune and Entei were probaly the only ones that could best Raikou at its own game, but for now he was willing to test his strength against Joey and hi spokemon. "Not a bad start for the first rounds of the battle." Raikou said as he seemed to be impressed, but he wanted to see more! The Raikou soon howled as he let out his own attack. Several shimmering stars that seemed to be casted down by the very heavens themselves that had created the legendary pokemon. With a quick movement, the yellow stars were soon sent forward by his motions. And they were aimed at Voltek. Voltek winced as he felt the attack but still remained standing. Raikou could've sworn it thought it saw some sort of shimmering image from Voltek. Was this the pokemon he thought he saw earlier or was he having some sort of trick being played on him? "What is the meaning of this? Why is your pokemon acting so odd? I sense an illusion." He growled showing that the pokemon was not interested in playing games. He wanted to test this guys strength but all he got instead was some sort of trick? As the illusion was indeed broken a Zoroark took place of where Voltek once stood. The illusion vanished in a cloud of black smoke. A bipedal pokemon appeared, as the dark fox appeared, taking Voltek's place. Seeing that Raikou was right about this one he had managed to fend off the illusion this round. "So it was an illusion." the electric pokemon said now having confirmed its thoughts from earlier were right. This battle had plenty of surprises in toe as it seemed to agitate but there was also a hint of excitement. Raikou had been challenged by many in the past, but there had only been one or two that had managed to best the lgengendary beasts. Perhaps Joey would be one to fit into that category too, and obtaining bragging rights for defeating the electric beast. Battle

Letting out a small angst filled gasp, Joey himself could also feel the effects of Raikou's pressure being exerted over the battlefield. Given Calistra's illusions were also running amok, it meant there was a lot going on in such a condensed space. "Nngrk... This foreboding sensation. It's just like when we battled against Entei. You legends. Definitely deserving of your name." Struggling but getting a little more attuned to the deep seated pressure that influenced the immediate vicinity, Joey looked to Calistra and was surprised at how well she took this. Launching right into her attack, it was odd seeing the form of an Electivire exact out an attack such as that. Voltek had always been the up front brawler type of fighter. But Calistra, she employed an offensive from afar. Considering this fact along with the power of her illusions meant they went hand in hand, in perfect synergy. It was an effective strategy to say the least and one that Joey was grateful he was on the right side of. As the darkened aura of chaos struck at Raikou, Joey watched with baited breath as the Pokemon managed to act as if it were but a mere glance, shrugging it off as he stood proudly on his part of the battlefield. "Woah. Even striking at an advantage, Raikou took that hit like it was nothing." Watching as the beast spoke out using its power to communicate via what appeared to be telepathy, Joey understood that these beasts weren't too unlike trainers as a whole.
Mere seconds later, Raikou lunged in with its attack. Having created an array of glittering star like constructs, Joey remained quiet in the hopes Calistra would be able to concentrate. Shooting forwards with an incredible force to them, Joey could not stand back quiet no more. "WATCH OUT!" He yelled, paying careful heed not to cry out the Pokemon's true name. Sadly, given how swift the stars were, they sliced through the illusions of Voltek. "Arrrghhhhh...! Unf... That... Hurt." The image of Voltek flickering as if like a static image, the Pokemon's growl went from a deep sounding male to that of a haughty female the next. Clutching at their waist, it was all too obvious. At this point, the legendary beast with all his cunning had twigged onto what was really going on. Evaporating in a puff of black smoke, the clothes giving Joey some dignity almost disappeared with a static flicker but thankfully retained. Even if it was the last thing she would do, she'd make sure he didn't blind anyone else. Finally revealing her true form Calistra let out a small growl a she finally stood back into a battle stance. "It has been some time, oh great legendary beasts." Greeting them properly, Calistra revered them with great respect. Despite her worship, she would not refrain from unleashing her full strength.
Looking over to the area where Raikou, Entei and Suicune stood, Joey gave a cheeky nonchalant shrug and grinned. "Sorry. We tried this back with Entei who saw right through it but I guess this was a test for Calistra herself to see how much effective her illusions had become." Looking down at his tourist garb, there was certainly no question of the effectiveness in that regard. Continuing on, this time aimed more specifically at Raikou, Joey egged on the fight. "Don't worry. It was bit of a trick but that doesn't seem Cali is holdin' back. Are ya Cali?" Turning to look at her, he noticed she had fell to her knees. "...Cali?" Unsure of what was going on, the sound of sniffling soon became apparent. "I never thought i'd see you start bawlin' in a million years but, er, this ain't the time." No response from her, Joey raised his voice a little louder. "C'mon Cali! We gotta press on!" A definite look of worry on his face, it was at that point her tears began flooding from her eyes as she cried out with great sadness. "N'dammit, why is she cryin'...? One more Foul Play oughta sort Raikou out. But wait... The pressure... Dammit. Given how intense this fight is, if Cali were to strike twice in a row it would mean Raikou would likely just evade the attack completely given he'd already be aware of her move." Flicking his eyes back over to Calistra, Joey quizzically thought further to himself. "Could these be... Fake Tears?!" Nailing it in a single thought, he continued to act confused and played along even going as far as to command a move rather meekly. "Use Flamethrower!" Calistra, with all her guile, had obviously devised a strategy. And who was he to interrupt it?

Legendary Beast - Raikou The progression of the battle seemed to amuse Raikou as the electric jolt of a tail twitched occasionally as Raikou watched on. He was aware of the illusion in both regards (Joey's current situation was embarrassing enough without a God of the Pokemon world bringing it up...) and his red eyes seemed to pierce through everything they touched. To call Raikou a fool, however, for letting it go on would be a lie. Entei had his bout with the illusions, and while Calistra had gotten stronger alongside Joey, it wasn't enough to sway the Thunder Beasts mind. In fact, it seemed that with every trick, Raikou's tail swishings ceased. With every movement of his body, his fur would brush against itself and create an electric crackle that retreated to the purple storm cloud on his back.
"I take no offense in your illusions. Illusions are one way of battle. While I prefer an offensive line of attack, I do not belittle those whose opinions differ from mine. All Pokemon were made differently, and their utilization of their own abilities is of their own regard." The Pokemon rumbled, voice raspy and distant like the coming thunder. Calistra's tears fell to the ground, and at first, Raikou was almost humbled that the Zoroark was that moved to be in his presence. However, that was the first and only illusion he would fall for. He felt his defenses lower, and his muscles tensed up when he realized there would be no fiery onslaught. No offensive move to test his power and defenses. There was nothing he could do now, and his red eyes narrowed at Joey.
"However, all Pokemon must learn eventually..."
The electric pops and snaps of the static electricity stored around Raikou seemed to gather in his storm cloud before humming with a sharp tone. The skies began to darken, and what was at first a bright sunny day at the beach would be disturbed by the god of Thunder. As lightning collected from the bottom of Raikou's legs up to his body and around, like a lightning rod, his voice rumbled. His mouth remained shut. "Illusions can not alone win battles. You must exert the effort needed, or you will never reach your goals, child." As the electricity collected, all of the clouds seemed to converge on one point, until...
Scatter.
The discharged electricity (which was usually an adorable move by weaker electric Pokemon) scattered across the battlefield. There was no mistake, no illusion, and no missing. The lightning zapped into Calistra, bringing the dark Pokemon to her knees in the sand across from Raikou. Aside from his first step and the occasional muscle twitch, the Legendary Beast had yet to move. Using such a 'weak' attack did it's toll on Calistra, however, and it seemed as though Raikou had made his point. "You have grown, boy. I watched your first fight, and have felt your power here. But you have much more to learn, and much farther to go. There are times to abandon your pride and unleash the animosity and power within you, or you will never rise to the top. Settle as prey and you shall always be so." The tiger seemed to stare down at Calistra at this point, curious of her next move. The show wasn't always run by Joey, but as the heartbeat of his 'pack,' he could most definitely set the pace.

Listening to the beast of lightning's words, Joey was unsure just how well this legendary Pokemon would fall for their ruse. Sure if this was a Rocket grunt or a simple minded Pokemon of the wild, it'd be a dead cert their trickster attempts would work but given this Pokemon was the very stuff of myth meant there was small chance of things succeeding. Deciding to converse with a Pokemon of Raikou's status, he wondered if he could gleam anything of worth. It wasn't every day you came across such an elusive and incredible Pokemon. "Given how you trio have mentioned you've been challenged before, it makes me wonder the sort of battles you've had to deal with." No sooner than he had asked his question, did he notice the hairs on the back of his neck stand up in a rather ominous tell tale matter. At this point, he was sure Calistra too was aware of the static build up. It was similar to how Voltek generated his electrical might but ten, no, hundred fold almost. This was pure electrical power they were experiencing. With Raikou seemingly lowered in his defences by Calistra's debilitating tears, Joey's eyes winced as he noticed Raikou failed to finish his sentence and instead, leave it open for more. "Cali, stop blubberin' and get movin'! Raikou's cottoned on to the fact you're no longer Voltek. That means that charade of an immunity we had goin' is completely out the window!"
Her tears stopping, Calistra flipped up to assume a stance head on facing Raikou. Eyes leering as she took in the build up like a lightningrod, she was clever enough to understand where this was going. As Raikou finished his sentence, it would be Calistra that spoke, not Joey. "I am well aware my illusions are not enough to survive on. From being poached in my youth to being unable to avoid other precarious encounters, it has meant I have had to attune with my inner beast." Unable to continue, she looked up as the clouds had converged to unleash their payload. Sending off a sparking discharge of energy, Calistra braced herself. She could attempt to escape but that would be disrespectful in the presence of a regal beast such as Raikou. She would endure what the beast would throw at her and prove to not only the trio but herself she was worthy to be considered part of the wild still. Letting out an agonising howl, Calistra fell to her knees once more. Although this time, she was not forcing her tears. Remaining silent, she listened as Raikou spoke out. This time, Joey would return conversation. "More to learn, huh? Well i'm hungry. I'm starvin'. Whatever this journey throws my way, i'll eat up. I'm gonna do everythin' it takes to make my way to the top. A whole lot rests on bein' able to do so. Ain't that right Cali?" Looking over to make sure she was okay, the illusion fox remained fallen to the ground.
However, she at least responded, her face obscured by her wild mane. "We will be the predator, not the prey. This I guarantee." Looking up, she stared Raikou dead in the eye with a look that would have even a Pokemon like Mephisto become unnerved. She had just been struck by what felt like a few hundred thousand gigawatts of electricity and even then, she was fully aware that wasn't the full extent of Raikou's strength. Even with her stamina failing, she knew she had to press on to succeed in this challenge. "I used my illusions to my advantage at the beginning, even falling on my tried and tested defense mechanism of fake tears... I cannot tell you how often that helped in my younger days." Slowly rising to her feet, the Zoroark leaned forwards, poised to go yet another round. "But this is where I prove my strength." Picking up it was time for a command, Joey decided it would only be fitting for her to demonstrate the move she had perfected in respect to her battle with Entei. "Cali, go with Flamethrower!" No more feints, trainer and Pokemon were at least conforming on this next round. Slashing her claws to the side, Calistra had a glint in her eye. She was serious about going another round. "Entei may command fires burning greater than that of an erupting volcano but my fires are no mere embers!" Thankfully having toyed with the variety of her move pool, she prepared herself to strike by fanning flames forward at Raikou.

Vs. Legendary Raikou - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Raikou's red eyes seemed to glow as memories of battles flooded through him, waking old wounds both physical and mental. "It is a sad truth that humans who call themselves Pokémon trainers seek power wherever and whenever it presents itself. And there have been many that sought us out, such as yourself. But they made the grave error of thinking us to be cowed before them, to roll over and become subservient to them," the thunder beast rumbled, a deadly edge to his already bitter voice. Behind him Suicune and Entei shifted anxiously, picking up on the slow simmer of their kin's anger, ready to act should he strike at the human instead of his Zoroark companion. "Such disrespectful humans had to be taught a harsh lesson. We are not toys for their amusement, to parade around and bend to their whims. Even those with good intentions must be treated as such, for we do not know if darkness may lie in their hearts."
As Cali snarled at him, Raikou stared back unblinkingly, waiting until she finished speaking to reply in turn. "Trickery may win you an edge, young one, but true strength is something precious so few can tap into. Are you worthy of that, I wonder?" Raikou inquired, seeming to speak more to himself than to either Cali or Joe. Perhaps those Pokémon under a human's care would not know how to find their true strength, sheltered from the harshness of life. This Zoroark, however, did not appear to be like most trainer-bound Pokémon he had battled over the years. "Prove yourself. There is always potential waiting to be tapped, if you are ready to try, even if your endeavours meet with failure more often than success."
It was a warning, one that Cali would do well to heed. Weakened as she was, and with Raikou holding back, it would appear that she was on the losing side of the battle. But as she stepped forwards, voicing her intentions, Raikou was ready by rolling his shoulders and lowering his head. Flames? They were nothing to him, his lightning and encounters with Entei strengthening him against the heat. But seconds after being bathed in fire, Raikou's eyes widened fractionally. He had forgotten Calistra's ploy, the humbling tears, and growled sharply as the scorching attack engulfed him momentarily from view.
Wild Pokémon Battle
Wild Raikou | Level 40 | Health: 0% (0/134 HP) Status: ...; Defeated!
VS
Joey's Calistra | Level 44 | Health: 1% (1/120 HP) Status: Down in a blaze of glory; Normal Calistra used a successful Flamethrower! Recoil from Life Orb hurt Calistra.
Congratulations! The wild Raikou was defeated! Calistra fought valiantly and gained +1000 EXP!
Mephisto gleaned from the battle and gained +1000 EXP! (Exp. Share)
When Calistra's attack finally let up, Raikou, having stood proud and tall before, staggered to his feet with a soft groan. "Such power... I am curious to see how much stronger you can become, human," he panted, giving himself a quick shake. It looked as if the beast would say something more, but his red eyes drifted past Joey and Calistra, narrowing in suspicion. The sound of footsteps approaching, owner running and gasping for breath, had the three legendary Pokémon gazing uncertainly at one another. Without another word they bolted away, all but disappearing with impressive speed as someone else appeared on the beach.
"No!" cried a dismayed voice, revealing itself to be a finely dressed man clutching his side, still struggling to regain his breath. He would be immediately familiar to Joey, and the recognition went both ways as his gaze alighted upon the biker. "Again, you interact with such mythical Pokémon, and I am but scant seconds shy of missing the incredible action. Had I not heard rumours of their presence, though, I would have not even caught a glimpse of them. Such majesty," Eusine remarked, staring off at where they had fled. Abruptly his expression shifted, a jealous glint in his eyes as he looked at Joey once more.
"Is there something about you they are curious about? They do not run before you, even engaging you in a battle... a lifelong dream I wish to fulfill. If I battle you, I will earn their respect, surely!" he exclaimed, drawing forth a Poké Ball in a gloved hand and letting it fly. A Drowzee erupted from the ball and landed with a thump in the sand, arms raised in readiness and bearing an expression similar to Eusine's grim determination. "Ready yourself, for I will not be denied a chance to win their favour!"
Attention!
Mystery Man Eusine has challenged you to a battle! He sends out Drowzee (Level 38)!Please choose a Pokémon to battle with.

Listening with respect to Raikou's words, it was perhaps a rare moment to see Joey silent and not mouthing off in his usual loud manner. He knew this encounter was indeed a lucky one that many others would go their entire lives over and not be able to count themselves as blessed to have not only one but two meetings with these mythical beasts. The fact his mentor had always spun yarns about their legends meant they were regarded with utmost respect in the biker's mind. Shaking his head, Joey realised there were sadly a great deal of those who lusted for power and by extension almighty creatures such as these. "No kiddin'. Bein' so sought after I can imagine you've had to step up yer game a lot to combat all those lustin' power mad wackos." As Raikou continued on about the different types that sought their presence, Joey chuckled and made a very nonchalant shrug with his arms as it appeared he had fallen into a category there. "Guilty as charged your honour. Haha, our first chance encounter was pure accident and I guess this is as well. Or destiny or whatever rubbish you want to chalk it up but don't worry. I ain't in the same crowd as wantin' you to get domesticated. Wouldn't dream of it." Whilst he could think of many a soul who would want to enslave and capture these creatures, he was thankfully not one of them. Noticing Raikou's thunderous rage beginning to spark, Joey uneasily leaned his head back as he had no doubt hit a nerve there. "Darkness in people's hearts, huh? Can't say I blame ya. There's a lot of people I wonder about that myself." Trailing off a little himself and distracting himself from the potential threat of Raikou's anger, it appeared his mind had drifted off to that of his father. He wasn't going soft and suddenly wanting to forgive his old man but there was so much to him he didn't understand. His motives, his character, his actions. And to entertain such a cruel and sadistic way of life, there surely was the perfect example to which Raikou had alluded to.
As Joey contemplated his own concerns, Calistra appeared to react to Raikou's passing comments to herself. Although not outright stating it, the electric beast's words were more than enough to be hinting at her diluting her full potential as a Pokemon being tethered to a trainer. "As much as I hate to admit such a thing, especially being trapped with this moronic simpleton, even I am not too arrogant not to admit how associating with this fool has had its boons. I was enslaved against my will by humans in my youth. I was young. This much is true. But since growing up from my ordeals I feel a new found strength." Throwing down the gauntlet and inviting her to trade finishing blows with the mighty sabre tooth tiger, Calistra clearly tensed her body up into more of a battling stance. "This next move is the fruits of my labour far." Whether it be the power of her illusions or the trickster fox had somehow learnt how to conjure forth flames from her very breath, a burning stream of fire was fanned forwards, engulfing Raikou up in the raging dancing fire as it appeared the Pokemon, although holding back, had been tricked by her tears to lower his guard even further. Snapping her maw shut as the flames had done their job, she watched with a blurring glaze to her vision as she found herself nearing unconsciousness. Dropping to one knee as she grasped onto her thin waist, she watched as Raikou continued to stand proud. "That was everything I had... And yet he stands proud still... I have lost... Hngrk?!" Snapping back to her senses as Raikou spoke with his booming voice like thunder, it seemed he had been impressed by her efforts and conceded the match in her favour. Snapped out of his own thoughts, Joey had been watching the action in gross anticipation. "CALI! HANG IN THERE!" Proud of his Pokemon's efforts in being able to go toe to toe with a legendary Pokemon, he rushed over to nurse her. Helping to prop her up, he looked over with her as Raikou spoke with a parting comment.
"That sure sounds like an invitation. I'm guessin' this won't be the last time we cross paths, eh?" His head turning to Calistra, he beamed raucously with his grin. "Y'hear that Cali? They want to see how much more potential we have." Turning back and about to respond to accept the Pokemon's challenge, he noticed they had began to retreat as if an intruder had entered upon the scene. His eyes experiencing great difficulty in keeping up with the effortless strides of these incredible beasts, they were moving at such a speed they were able to escape out onto the sea itself, their speed keeping them afloat above the water's surface. "Wow..." Murmured Joey. Although her vision blurry, Calistra was awed by the sight also. "Holding back even in that fight... I will rise to their level... *cough* One day... Joe. A person beckons." Helping her up, the illusion fox held onto Joey for support. By the time they had worked out there was another amongst them, Joey recalled the familiar sounding cry of exasperation. The loud no resounding out bought their attention to a flashily dressed man in a cape. He was an unusual character about as eccentric as his wardrobe implied. Realising who it was, Joey responded with a friendly remembrance to their first encounter. "Haha! Easy geezer! If it ain't Eusine. Dude, you'll never guess who I... Ah. You saw, eh?" Hearing him speak, it was apparent he had missed the tail end of the battle and by extension the beasts themselves. Thankfully if he had just caught the end, he had been spared being blinded by his lack of clothes. This illusion was definitely doing wonders if it was making people think he was clothed. Nodding his head as his friend spoke, Joey gave him a look before casually shrugging off with a cheeky look on his face. "I dunno how I manage it either. Just good ol' Lady Luck givin' me a bit of lovin'. It was pure luck the first time and pure luck this time. I ain't nothin' special."
Despite his words on being simply lucky, the jealous look in Eusine's eyes was enough to hint to Joey where their encounter would be going. Going as far as to explain the situation and throwing down the glove and issue a challenge, Joey pulled bit of an awkward face. "Y'know, I dunno if that'll achieve what you're after but i'm not gonna deny a man his request." Looking to Calistra, Joey nodded in understanding. "And I don't expect you to be fighting any wars either in this state. Rest up, you did good Cali." A wry smile teasing at the edge of her maw, it seemed as if Calistra was actually accepting of his praise. "I will not disagree with you on that, simpleton." His hand grasping at a Pokeball as he took in the view of Eusine's choice, Joey realised he had an ample counter to use. "You best not hold back, Eusine. You see how Cali is here. This Zoroark went all out in facing Raikou. Legends like that. They don't expect anythin' less than a 110%. You gotta give it your all and THEN some." Pausing for a moment as he looked at the Drowzee again, he remembered the maniacal one he had caught back in Goldenrod before shaking his head and summoning his choice. "Dante! You're up, old friend!" The Pokeball popping open but nothing being revealed, it would be moments later when the Gengar appeared as his eyes and Cheshire grin materialised into view before his body followed suit. "Hah hah hah hah, about time I got out and about to do a bit of this ol' battlin' lark. It's not like I wanna relive my glory days. Except this time, I got limbs!" Rolling his eyes and jovially pushing aside his jibe, Joey pressed on. "Y'know, maybe you were better when you were a Koffing. Either way, let's put on a good show to see if we can boost Eusine's favour. One Shadow Ball, please!" "Shadow Ball comin' up!"

"Just pure luck?" Eusine repeated the words of Joe with almost a hint of disdain and jealousy to his voice. "It almost frustrates me to think that after years of my research and genuine interest with the Legendary Trio are overlooked by a trainer who has encounters such as this fall right into his lap... By 'pure luck'." Sighing over dramatically, Eusine could hear the words what he was saying and it wasn't particularly friendly of him. Trying to cover up some of his irritation, he forced a cavalier smile, "But I was able to see you battle in Burnt Tower, as well as my good friend Morty. I know full well that you are a worthy trainer. I just wish, even for a moment, they would consider me worthy as well." Staring off into the distance once more before continuing on with a battle, he figured that this would be the best way to take out some of his pent up frustration. Against a strong opponent to boot. Flicking his cape as Joey presented his clearly worn Zoroark after the battle with Raikou, Eusine narrowed his eyes on the illusion fox. "Ah. The same creature you used against Entei. Perhaps it is her they are testing rather than you, yourself." Considering the possibility that they might be drawn to the Pokemon rather than Joe, he shrugged off his own vague illusions for now and decided to focus on his issued challenge.
"I plan on battling you with all my might, rest assured." Eyes narrowing at even the implication that Eusine wouldn't give his all when that was what he had done his entire life, the mysterious and almost eccentric male was faced with a Gengar, something closely related to another member of his party. Bringing a smile to his own face, Eusine tried to lighten up himself, even if he could see how this first round would likely end. "A Gengar, hm? Very well." Throwing forward an arm, Eusine hoped that with his intense training recently, that his Pokemon would be faster, "Drowzee, move in with a Hypnosis!" Remaining on the spot, the creepy looking Pokemon began to mumble under it's nose, eyes remaining locked onto Dante as it's arms wriggled around. Pulling a bit of a disturbed expression, Dante pulled away from the Drowzee's intense stare and held both of his arms to his right hand side. Focusing his energy, a wispy ball of energy began to form within his ghostly hands before suddenly rolling his arms forward. Tossing the ball of shadowy energy through the air, it struck the Drowzee like a cannon ball before exploding into an eerie shroud of mist, mixed with a cloud of sand which had lifted after the impact. Accompanied with a heavy thump, as the sand cloud faded, all that was left was the collapsed body of Drowzee, foot twitching in the air.

Shock spread across Eusine's face, his body completely still at what he had just witnessed. After all the battling they had recently been doing out in the secluded area of Cianwood, after a single hit, his Pokemon was down. Gulping slowly, the male used his gloved hand to flick the stand of hair that hovered above his eyes. "I see, your battling is truly a sight to behold." Withdrawing his fainted Drowzee, the flamoyant male brought out his second choice. "But I refuse to give up after just that!" Throwing his second choice forward, what appeared before Joe was a Pokemon very similar to his own, one that had surpassed Eusine's.
Eusine isn't finished yet and sends out Haunter (Level 39)! Would you like to continue or switch Pokemon?

Remaining adamant in his reason, Joey failed to falter in his resolution. Hearing Eusine's depth and breadth of his desire to see these legendary Pokemon, he understood what he had explained may have come off as a little condescending but it was something he truly believed in. "Sorry dude, I get that may have hit a lil' low there but luck is all it is. I had ventured into that burnt tower in order to get shelter from the storm. If that storm had not of unfolded, I would have passed on exploring a dump of rubble like that. Here, today, I only met these legends again over a rather long winded affair. Cut a long story short, I washed ashore, needed some help and when my help returned, boom. Sudden rock slide and look who it is above. The trio again." Gesturing his hand forward as if to wave away Eusine's annoyed jealous there, Joey jokingly mentioned about what the future would hold. "What's next? Just randomly bumping into them on some route or somethin'? I ain't got a clue but if my luck continues, it probably will." Not wanting to play down his friend's efforts, Joey nodded. He hoped this advice would be heeded. "Maybe that's the issue. Perhaps you're so intent they decide to avoid you because you seem so obsessive to 'em." Not wanting to reveal what Raikou had mentioned about being hunted, he hoped the subtle bit of advice would go a long way. From what he could tell, Eusine wasn't interested in capturing them but the lengths he appears to be going to in order to meet them would no doubt resemble that of someone trying to enslave them to their will. "The more that you want it, the more that you need it. Take a seat back and maybe things will fall into ya lap, y'know?"
As subject moved onto Calistra, Joey nodded. He knew how much of an importance facing these mythical beasts was to her and because of this, perhaps the Pokemon were keen on delivering her a set of tasks to reassure she had not lost touch with the beastly instinct that dwell within her. That she was still one with the wild. "Y'know, that might even be it. I'm a thrill seeker. There's no denyin' this. I'll take on a scrap with any sort of Pokemon. From fledging little runts all the way up to legendaries like them. All as long as it provides me with a bit of a thrill to enjoy. Calistra, here. Well, she has her own reasons. Even if it is for her own sake and not because they view me as somethin' special, I don't care. I'm just glad either way for the opportunity. And if it means my Pokemon here can get what she wants, all the better." As their conversation subsided and the issue of battling itself took centrepiece, Joey nodded as he understood Eusine was a knowledge opponent. "So you know Gengar, huh? Just hope your Drowzee can pull off somethin' fast like as i'm neither me nor Dante are gonna be holdin' back." Hearing the flashy myth chaser call out the move, Joey looked to Dante and realised his phantom was already on it. Watching as he began summoning up an orb of swirling, shadowy energy, Joey grinned raucously as he looked over to Eusine's corner. Sending the shadow ball flying forwards, Dante let out a yell. "And Dante throws his pitch... Drowzee looks nervous... Oh and... STRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE!" Bobbing up and down with a float, the Pokemon cackled to himself as he was pleased to have taken out the creepy creature so quickly.
Receiving a compliment from Eusine, Joey made a somewhat jovial bow whilst still propping up Calistra before returning to shoulder her weight properly. "Sight to behold, eh? Meh, like I been tellin' ya. I just love a good scrap. Whether or not i've become enjoyable to witness as a result is whatever people want to think. Me and my gang, we're just gonna keep on fightin'." Chiming in, Dante floated in the air as he shared his few cents. "And when you consider this ruffian has been gettin' in fights since he was even a lil' nipper, it's about the only thing he's truly good at. Trust me, i've seen him go from adorable little troublemaker into the big, ugly lump he is now. Only thing stayed the same is how often he gets into a brawl." Watching as the man switched in for another Pokemon, Joey eyed up the next choice and laughed excitedly. "Well, well. No wonder you knew of Gengar. Especially if you've got a Haunter." "Man, it's like deja vu or somethin'. Nice to see another spook ghostin' about though. Howdy." Exchanging pleasantries with the Haunter, Joey reigned in his Gengar in order to remind them they were here to fight. "Alright, enough of the chit chat. I doubt our conversation would be riveting enough to bring back the beasts. Instead, we're gonna continue goin' all out too. Dante, let's see how strong Eusine's ghostie is. Shadow Ball!" "Another Shadow Ball, comin' riiiiiiiight up! Express delivery!"

Listening intently as Joey described his encounters with the legendary trio vaguely, it was clear that Eusine looked a bit dubious but still understanding. The way Joe had described it, he had simply been in the right place in the right time and in other words, their meetings had truly been luck based. "Ooh yes, I remember that storm myself. But washed up here, you say? I was under the impression that you had retreated here for a break." His eyes skimming over the illusion of Joey's tourist gear, it was enough to make Eusine smile and shrug his shoulders at the very least. "However, I can't simply wait. What if your level of luck would never befall on me? I have grown up, surrounded by their tale. If I just give up the chase now, my life would feel... Incomplete." Still set on the idea of tracking the beasts down, one thing that Joe did say perked Eusine's ears up some. "I seem obsessive?" Trailing off and placing a hand on his chin in a contemplative manner, for Eusine, there was no doubt that tracking the trio down was a borderline obsession for him. It was the very reason he was alive, to meet these creatures, he was sure of it. But maybe that really was what was stopping him from being able to meet them. "Do you think they know I follow them, hence why they continue to flee?" Stretching his arms out, the eccentric male took a step forward, "But surely they can sense that I mean them no harm. I don't plan on capturing them, I simply want to meet them."
There was then the possibility of Calistra being the one to draw the beasts to Joey and even he didn't deny the possibility. Looking to the Zoroark, she was a creature Eusine had never seen before meeting Joey for the first time. This revelation alone was enough to open Eusine's eyes. He was so focused on finding the Legendary Trio that he was unaware of other Pokemon around him. Looking dejected for a moment, he began to fidget, readjusting his gloves. "For me, thrills are finally uncovering something I have researched into. It gives me the feeling of everything I have worked hard to achieve finally comes to a head. I have travelled all across Johto and found so much, my life hasn't been for naught up until now but still. If there is one final quest I want to achieve, it would be meeting this legendary trio." Sounding a bit like a broken record, it didn't matter how many times he said his goal. Everytime he said it out loud, it only drove the dream deeper into his heart and soul. One day soon, he was going to meet them. He had been so close the last two times. Looking to Joey, Eusine flashed a grin, "Maybe the easiest way to meet them again would to simply follow or join you on your journey. Perhaps then I would have a better chance!"
Laughing out loud to himself, it was unclear of if he was being serious or not with his remark. To begin with, he had to prove that he would be worthy of following Joey as so far, his battle standards were not up to scratch. Using a Haunter against his opponents clearly superior Gengar was enough of a hint to Eusine at how this round was going to turn out but he couldn't simply give up. "Now Haunter, let's use a Confuse Ray!" Cackling, the Haunter spun in the air before floating toward Dante, the spirit moving at a very similar speed, making the sight nerve wrecking. Keeping his cool, Dante remained on the same spot, surging ghostly powers around his hands before firing off a perfectly aimed Shadow Ball. Striking the Haunter right in the face, the orb seemingly went though the body of the ghost but with a painful shriek, it became clear that Haunter was unable to battle anymore either, as it made a weak float down to the sand.
Haunter: | Level 39 | Health: 0% ( 0/96 HP) Status: Normal ...

Clapping his hands slowly, Eusine withdrew his Haunter and picked out a third ball but before sending it out, turned once more to Joey. "I can confirm that you have become much stronger from when you last face Morty. So impressive considering it was only a short time ago. Or that's what it seems." Closing his eyes and shaking his head from side to side, he tossed the Pokeball into the air and caught it with his open hand before thrusting his arm forward. "But bare with me for a little longer, if I am going to battle with someone strong, I atleast want to finish with a bang!" Throwing his arm forward, his final choice was revealed, a large round Pokemon with a wild grin that rivalled Dante's coming into view.
Eusine has one more Pokemon and sends out Electrode (Level 40)! Would you like to continue or switch Pokemon?

Raising a quizzical eyebrow at Eusine, he wondered how exactly he had come to the conclusion he was here on a bit of sightseeing. Looking down and remembering Calistra had rather conveniently decked him head to toe in tourist garb, Joey looked back up and laughed heartily. "Hahahahaha. Don't be fooled by the threads. Long story but I kinda got washed asunder by a group of Gyarados. Guess I was swimmin' on their territory or summat... Eh. Either way, turned up here, grabbed some err... Clothes and here we are. Bumped into the beasts. Really is bein' in the right place at the right time." Tilting his head slightly, he pondered if there was more to it with what Eusine had mentioned. "That or if you believe in all that junk about destiny and the like. But hey, it's up for debate." Hearing Eusine's heartfelt words about not being able to share his luck, Joey felt bad about tearing someone's one dream in life from them. He was a thief but not of the heartless kind. Putting on a confident grin over his face, Joey hoped to give him some morale. "Dude, don't talk like that. What you gotta remember is, luck is like taking a shortcut. All this hard work and dedication you're puttin' in, there's no doubt you'll realise your dream. Just keep it up. Your efforts along with a bit of luck, i'm willin' to bet you can do it." Hoping that would improve Eusine's mood, he subtly pulled a face as he picked up on what he had said. "Oh, don't pay too much attention to that. Maybe obsessive ain't the word but... Sometimes if you want somethin' bad enough, it'll eat away at you. Just let it go and maybe it'll come to you."
Continuing to fight for his case that he meant them no harm, Joey made a small shrug. "I know you don't. And i'm sure they don't either but... You gotta remember. There's a reason these guys are hailed as legends. As myths. They've been hunted down and most likely bear a grudge." Again, as Raikou had explained, it appeared the hunt for them was near endless and they preferred to keep their distance. Hoping his words put things into perspective, he believed at the very least they would allow him audience in their presence. Listening to his words, the last thing Eusine mentioned about journeying along as a partner made Joey somewhat burst out in laughter. "Hahaha, oh man. I gotta admit, I usually do it lone wolf style but hey, if you're up for it, maybe we could. Just remember whilst I have my fair share of luck, I also have a fair few downs to make up for it. It ain't all meeting legendaries and plain sailin'. That and err... Well. I tend to be a magnet for trouble as well." Not wanting to go down the path of his activities as a thief or a vigilante ready to take on Team Rocket when they arose, he hoped Eusine might settle on going solo instead. Either way, with their exchanges coming to a standstill due to the unfolding events of the battle, Joey watched keenly as it was his Gengar up against Eusine's Haunter.
A bit of a cocky battler, Dante was keen to secure a victory and with a firm and decisive blow, managed to do so. With Eusine tending to his Haunter, Dante began to float up into the air and leaned onto his side in a sort of reclining position. "He was good but he needs to get better if he wants even a ghost of a chance against me." Trying not to laugh at his own terrible pun, Joey rolled his eyes and laughed weakly himself. "Least you're not cracking puns as bad as Eggbert... Ack.. Even when he's not here he gets me doin' it. Jeez." Receiving a compliment over his progress in battle, it was something Joey could reflect on happily. He was doing everything he could to achieve his goal of trying to become champion and it was hard at times to tell if he had been making progress or not. If this recurring friend could confirm as much, he was at least on the right track. "Cheers. Speakin' of Morty, how's he doin'? You and him were mates from what I could tell. I had a pretty good gym fight back in Ecruteak with him." Given Calistra had pulled her weight and Doopliss had shown off his new found abilities after being experimented on, it was a little one sided to say the least. Observing Eusine's last choice, Joey couldn't help but smirk to himself amusedly as he took in the sight of the Electrode. "Huh, that's weird. You've got a Haunter, me a Gengar. But it appears your Electrode is a one up on the Voltorb I got." Making a small sigh, he appeared to resign to that fact. "Looks like you got me there. Sadly, don't have my Voltorb on me. Got the next best thing though. Voltek, you're up!"
Quickly swapping out Dante for Voltek, his towering electrified yeti stood proudly as he fired off a few sparks at being summoned for battle. "Once again, the roar of battle cries out for my appearance." Sizing up the Electrode, Joey swiftly moved in to continue the flow of battle. "Don't hold back, Volt. Eusine here wants a no holds barred fight." Punching a clenched fist into an open palm, Voltek nodded conveying he understood. "Pummel the ground with an Earthquake. Let's go!" Turning back to face the opposition, Voltek was aware of the Pokeball imitator's swift speeds but whilst he was outsped, he just needed to make sure his blow struck true.

"Gyarados! Truly? How did you survive such an encounter? Their rage is quite... legendary!" Eusine remarked with a dry chuckle at his joke. Letting Joey's words sink in, he mulled them other with a pensive expression, adjusting his cravat with idle hands. Maybe he was a bit obsessive, letting this dream run his life for him and running through things half-awake where others were concerned. Still, that thrill of realizing you were face to face with a creature of fables was a heady rush, one that only left him wanting more. "In a way, meeting them would be a bittersweet event in my life. To have sought them out for so long, dedicating countless hours poring over books and notes, and for what?" the man pondered, mostly to himself.
"I do not seek them to have something brag about. Not just to regale grandchildren with fantastic stories. Only to satisfy... something. Some drive that pushes me, one I can't quite fathom. I guess it would be similar to many trainers who simply want to journey through Johto, or collect badges." Whatever this mysterious drive was, Eusine wouldn't quite rest until he could sate it completely. Glimpses simply couldn't, wouldn't do, and justifying it seemed quite a momentous task. "What is life without a few bumps in the road, hmm? Being a trainer, it seems, always invites luck, be it good or bad," Eusine chuckled. His Electrode seemed to be laughing at Dante's pun with the Gengar, although the wide grin that seemed permanently etched on made it hard to tell.
Eusine's own face was stretched with a fond smile as Joey mentioned his dear friend's name. "Oh, if he's not elbow-deep in challengers, he's likely spending time in the Burned Tower in my stead. I left a short while ago in my pursuit of the beasts, so I haven't had the chance to speak to him since," he admitted, uttering a rueful sigh. Morty was used to his eccentric friend running off at this point, even if Eusine did feel guilty simply dropping everything to do so. Craning his head to peer up at the mountainous bulk that was Voltek, Eusine clapped his hands together delightedly. "Such a grand Pokémon! Truly spectacular! But my Electrode is quite spectacular as well. Show them with Signal Beam!"
The command hanging in the air, Electrode rolled forwards with a greenish light enveloping it, focused into a single beam of light that blasted through the air towards Voltek. The Electivire raised his arms to ward off the worst of the attack, merely grunting as it made contact and let off small bursts of light in its wake. Disappointment flickered across Electrode's face; it was so hoping to confuse its much larger foe. Voltek raised his arms up high over his head, bringing them down with a staggering blow that churned up the earth, ground splitting apart and rising up in a crooked path. Lifted into the air, Electrode tumbled end over end before simply crashing down, rotating around to reveal it had clearly fainted.

Eusine said nothing, eyes closing as he struggled to retain his composure. Recalling Electrode back to its ball, the regret in the man's eyes was hard to miss, though he concealed the worst of it with a friendly smile. "Even though I missed my chance to see the beasts, and even lost our battle, I feel as if I have gained something from all of this," Eusine said slowly. "You are so much stronger than you were in that tower; an adventure that feels like it happened so long ago. I don't regret challenging you at all." Mindful of his footing across the wrecked ground, Eusine drew something out of his pocket, a shiny blue disc and money bag that he offered to Joey.
"I am sure, on your way here, you saw the Whirl Islands and the whirlpools they are so famous for. This is an HM that will let you cross them... provided you have the appropriate badge, of course." Looking out over the scenery, he fell silent for a moment, gaze eventually wandering back. "Farewell for now, my friend. Perhaps the next time our paths cross will be a more fortuitous occasion." Lifting a hand in farewell, Eusine made his way back the way he had come from, thoughts of meeting the legendary beasts flashing through his mind once more.
For defeating Eusine, Joey was gifted with HM05 Whirlpool! He also won £3,240!

Recalling the events before he was swept away by their draconic rage, Joey let out a wily grin. " You bet. We took one on by itself. Was a pretty spectacular fight considerin' we were out on the waves. Pretty sure that's the first time i've fought out at sea. And not the last if gettin' back to the mainland is anythin' to go by. But havin' trounced one, I guess the rest viewed as all too big a threat." Looking over to Voltek, Joey grinned. " All because of this thunderin' berserker. He fried that oversized shrimp like it was nothin'." Remembering Eusine asked how exactly he survived, Joey gestured his head knowingly as he revealed his answer. " How I pulled through? Sheer luck." Letting out a laugh, he concluded his sentence. " Which goes back to what I said early. It's all luck. I could've washed ashore some place far, far away. Hell, even worse, ended up sleepin' with the fishes. Sharpedo chow. But I ended up here. Here, of all places." He always spoke fondly of a Lady Luck that kept a watchful eye over him and if he had to chose one exemplary testament to this view, it would be his washing ashore. Coming to terms with the fact he was an ultimately very lucky person, he shot Eusine a knowing smile as it appeared he had perhaps come to terms with his own conundrum. " There you go. It would be bitter sweet. Maybe the beasts know this. That's why they keep on runnin' because they want to keep you goin'. If you did meet them that would be the end of that chapter. Perhaps by keeping on the run, you'll continue chasing and develop in a way you didn't think possible. It's the journey, not the destination. The goal." Their talk returning to Morty, Joey nodded. He had fought him briefly but he seemed like a fascinating type of person. " Sounds like he's got his hands full. I seem to remember him mentioning about a myth he was chasing himself. Guess that's part of the parcel with how you guys got to know each other so well." He wasn't all too sure what it was Morty was after but if it was anything like the beasts Eusine was so intent on following, it was likely an extremely awe inspiring and powerful Pokemon. Cracking his knuckles at the thought of the thrills to be had, it was perhaps something he would have to investigate further down the line. Whilst all this talk of legends interest Joey, he had a goal of his own foremost. Hearing Eusine sound the command of his own move, Joey flashed Voltek a cocky nod as he knew sparks were most definitely going to be flying at this point. Shrugging off the brunt of the beam, Voltek responded with a deft pummelling to the ground which was so expert like in its precision that the very ground itself appeared to part, striking at Electrode and causing the round to go in Joe's favour. " Hah hah! Not too shabby, Volt. The Gyarados was impressive as it was but I don't think i'll ever fail to be impressed by them quakes." Averting his focus to Eusine, Joey felt a little dejected to see how uneasy Eusine appeared. Met with a friendly smile, Joey summoned a wild grin of his own to meet with his friend. Hearing him conclude he had taken something from this battle, Joey nodded his head. " Good. If it means it gets you one step closer to an audience with the beasts, then i'm glad." Observing the flashily dressed man approach closer with some caution, Joey replied. " Y'really think we're stronger, eh? Good. Guess i've got something from this too. Fights like these, you need in order to improve as a team." His eyes falling to Eusine's hand as he pulled out what appeared to be a HM, Joey raised a quizzical eyebrow at the item. Taking it with gratitude, he examined the name printed on the protective sleeve. " Whirlpool, huh? Just the ticket. Guess if I am gonna go back that way there's a good chance i'll have to use this. I may have washed up here but I don't plan on doing the same thing twice. Cheers, Eusine." As Eusine exchanged his farewell, Joey gave him a warm grin in response before raising a hand and giving him a friendly salute in goodbye. " So long Eusine. Sure we'll cross paths again. I'm gonna keep on tryin' to achieve my goal." Seeing him walk off with his back turned, Joey raised his voice and yelled. " You'll meet them one day! Don't give up!" With Voltek and Calistra remaining with Joey. He let out a sigh and laughed as if concluding on something. " I always thought he was bit of an oddball but his heart's in the right place." Looking over to where the city itself was located, Joey nodded, still propping up the weary Calistra. " C'mon, let's go and get Slash fixed up. Maybe even find some clothes..." Creating a look of uncertainty from Voltek, the trio moved off. - Fin -
