Luminous Vale: Catherine's Farfetch'd Encounter #1

Her loud footsteps crunching against the forest foliage, Catherine found herself wandering into the centre of the Luminous Vales, eyes looking around in wonder at the rays which shone in between the tree leaves. Taken in by the beauty that was around her, the young girl didn't notice the sound of laughing Pokemon close by and it wasn't until she stepped closer that they ended up sensing her first. The avian's playmate fleeing at the idea of a battling unfolding, the Farfetch'd remained poised and sure enough, Catherine soon came within view. She herself not seeing the Pokemon at first and being far too engrossed at her surroundings, it was Atlas who spotted the Pokemon from her shoulder and suddenly began to chimp out. Tugging gently at her hair to try and grab her attention, Catherine felt her head being yanked to the side, "Ow ow... What is it, Atlas? You see something? Hmm?" Being guided by the hand of her Pansage, her emerald green eyes widened and sparkled with excitement at what she saw lurking close by. "LOOK! That must be one of Sylvester's Farfetch'd!!"

Immediately drawn towards the bird, Catherine kept a safe distance. Wearing a grin, she began to try and reason with the Pokemon, wondering if battling wouldn't have to be an option. "Hello little Farfetch'd! I met your trainer at the beginning of the forest and he is totally looking for you! Why dont you come back with me? He is really worried!" Atlas, on the other hand, remained on guard. He could tell that the Farfetch'd stood in a defensive manner, ready to defend itself if necessary. Puffing out her cheeks softly, it's lack of response also made Catherine believe that trying to convince the bird to go back would be no easy task. "I guess this is why Syl suggested to battle em. Doesnt look like it is going to be budging." A grin suddenly spreading across her face, Catherine grabbed a Pokeball from her belt. "Okay! How about this! If we battle and I win, then you come along with me! But if you win, I'll let ya go and pretend that I NEVER saw you!" No matter what, she had promised Sylvester that she would help so although not entirely competitive up front, she still had no intention of losing. Especially considering her recent battle with Bugsy, she had a reputation to keep up.

"Okay Yumina, I choose you!" Throwing her choice of Pokemon forward, what burst out was a large, pink Blissey. A childish grin apparent on her face, the rotund Pokemon immediately began to wiggle with delight and energy. "Yumina, go in with an Ice Beam!" Giggling to herself, the large Blissey sprang forward, ready to unleash some icy chaos.

As Farfetch'd listened to Catherine speak the bird could not pass up a potential get out of jail free card and so it accepted her terms. Knowing that it had just bet it's freedom on the outcome of this single battle Farfetch'd was taking a huge risk. The bird had never lost to anything it had encountered in the forest and so it had a lot of confidence headding into the battle. Farfetch'd thought this battle was going to be pretty easy upon seeing the giant pink Pokemon that the young girl had chosen. The bird was so sure of itself that it had not even realized that the battle had begun. It was a mistake that Farfetch'd rarely made and with good reason. As the avian Pokemon was still thinking that Catherine was crazy for using such a friendly Pokemon all hell broke loose.

A light blue beam made up of ice flew from Yumina's mouth and headed for Farfetch'd at a high velocity and before the bird could even blink the beam had scored a direct hit. The ice was so cold that the flying type nearly went numb throughout it's body however it's warrior spirit allowed it to somehow retain enough feelings in it's limbs to remain standing. The cocky Pokemon was not feeling so tough anymore as the attack had been a complete shock as it did not think such a cute Pokemon could know such a dangerous move. At the same time there was no way it would take such a sneaky attack without retaliation and since Yumina was not exactly the fastest Pokemon in the world she could only hope her defenses would hold out.

Farfetch'd charged her at full speed as it swung it's leek around like a sword. Yumina tried to avoid the swipes but her size and lack of speed allowed the bird to get a clean hit on her with a powerful Slash attack. Yumina managed to stay standing despite the huge amount of damage she suffered as a result of her species poor defense when dealing with physical attacks. Farfetch'd took a deep hit to it's pride as Yumina remained standing since it had given everything in that last attack and it was not very sure if it could handle another sneaky attack by it's opponent.

Getting some form of a response from the Farfetch'd, Catherine smiled with wide eyes as her opponent agreed to her terms. Standing firm with a leek in wing, the avian was ready to battle and so was Catherine. Jumping from one foot to the other, her energetically, happy go lucky Blissey was already on her toes. Evolved to her final form due to the sheer amount of love given to her by Catherine, it by no means meant that Yumina was a gentle Pokemon. She was mischievous and loved to battle, even if she didn't necessarily take them too seriously. Buffing up her arms and puffing out her chest to try and appear intimidating, the egg carrying creature cackled at her own taunt but soon focused on Farfetch'd properly. "We gotta give this Farfetch'd a battle that it deserves! Ready! Aim! FIIIIREEE!" Throwing her arm forward as if she were a captain issuing cannon fire, Yumina responded with a saluting of her own and prepared her icy attack.

With the crackling sound of ice echoing throughout the forest, Catherine watched as the beam struck the bird dead centre but the battle was far from over. Surprised but by no means down, the Farfetch'd managed to shake itself together and sturdy itself. "Haha! I bet it'll wanna follow us after a hit like that!... H-Huh?" Thinking for sure that they had proven their strength enough for the Farfetch'd to want to follow them, the bird was not giving up. Holding onto it's leek tightly, the bird slashed down with an immense amount of strength itself, causing Yumina to wobble backward due to the force of the blow. Luckily, she was still standing too, meaning that they had the chance to turn this battle around in their favour. "Just a little more, I'm sure Farfetch'd will give in a follow us if we keep trying!" Keeping optimistic, she didn't want to hurt the Pokemon anymore than she needed to, in order to keep them healthy for Sylvester. "Just one more should do it. Yumina, use another Ice Beam!"

Farfetch'd was very nervous as the next round loomed just a few moments away. The once brave bird was now feeling very dumb for underestimating it's foe and paying dearly for it. Farfetch'd was still cold from the last ice beam and the last thing it wanted was to get hit by a second one. Even it's leek was not enough to turn the tide of this battle not to mention it's energy being very low caused Farfetch'd to fear the worst. Sure it thought the young lady seemed nice but it would still e an embarrassment to lose to such a cute Pokemon after acting so tough. As Farfetch'd looked Yumina in the eye the bird gulped as it sensed another attack was imminent.

Farfetch'd summoned up as much strength as it could before charging towards Yumina in a desperate last attempt to knock her out. Farfetch'd raised it's leek and tried to slash her again but before the attack could score a hit Yumina managed to launch yet another powerful ice beam right into the flying types chest. Like the first time the attack scored massive damage as Farfetch'd was sent flying backwards from the impact. As the bird hit the ground with a mighty thud it let out a small squawk likely begging for mercy. The battle had ended as Farfetch'd slowly crawled towards Catherine's feet begging her to call Yumina off.

Decided to behave itself it willingly agreed to follow Catherine back to Sylvester. With the first Farfetch'd found there was just one more missing one for Catherine to find.
