He was born in Lavender Town and when he turned 18 he moved to Johto to start his Pokemon Journey.

Shiji prefers clothing with the motif of Red, Black, White and Green. Although everything but Black is mostly minimal, Shiji wears a red T-Shirt with a Black buttoned shirt with White buttons and stripes on the collar and cuffs. In addition he has Black skinny Jeans with a Red belt that has two green stripes down the left and right side, the shoes he wears are White Trainers with black soles. Other than this his other clothing involves a Black Overcoat than the buttoned shirt, he only wears this on special occasions though as it's tied back to his Mother and Lavender Town.
He has Aqua Blue eyes and normally has either a Chocolate Cigarette or Pokey in his mouth at all times, Shiji is of medium build and towers over most at with his tall stature of 6'1 ft. He has a Black Satchel with a Red strap that he keeps around his back and to the left, When Shiji walks you'll notice that he has a habit of keeping his hands in his pocket and has his shoulders forward without intending to.
Personality:
Shiji may seem shy or extremely introverted but he is quite the opposite, he simply likes to keep to himself because of his experiences and on his own and with pokemon he can seem like an extrovert, he spends most of his time by himself and with his pokemon. Rarely (Or not at all) he might open up to other people, if you end up becoming his friend you would be able to realise that he is an extremely open and caring individual, especially towards pokemon. But getting in his bad books isn't the best idea as he can be extremely cold, harsh, intimidating and creepy. Although he may look weak because of his bulk but you shouldn't underestimate him as if you get in the way of his Pokemon or Pokemon in general you will be in for quite a shock for as well as his unnatural ability to see dead pokemon there are other secrets he harbours.
History:
When Shiji was born he was an only child and born into a family of only him and his mother because his father had left for an unspecified reason, things were tough as they barely scraped by with terrible living conditions. Then when Shiji turned Five his life turned sour, his mother died not soon after his birthday and he was forced into an orphanage. The only thing that people had ever mentioned when regarding his mother's death was the word 'Criminal' a person still unknown to him and someone he plans to get revenge on. Whilst in the Lavender Orphanage he was constantly teased with the Pokemon and name 'Cubone' as Cubone's have always been thought to wear their deceased mother's skull, taking a huge toll on his self esteem and personality. On the other hand this allowed him to mature and become respectable and well behaved even leading him to start visiting the Pokemon Tower.
After many years of being teased Shiji decided to spend most of his time and take solitude in Pokemon Tower, (This was around the age of 9-10) hardly anyone would ever be there unless mourning their loss. He found many Ghost Pokemon and even some Dark Types would find and take refuge there, he'd take care of them and befriend them, developing into his love and caring for Pokemon. One time he visited though he saw something... Off, he wasn't sure if it was exposure to Ghost Pokemon but he could see ethereal glowing figures of various pokemon of many types, even able to contact and care for them too. He accepted this 'Gift' and it even helped remedy and heal him over his Teenage years into adulthood. Once at Eighteen he decided to embark on an adventure, he had always seen and admire Trainers and that they could raise their own team and travel with them creating bonds. With his love for Pokemon backing this up he set off for Johto. He wanted a fresh start and a new Region to travel and explore. Whilst on his way he decided to change his name, even though it was the name his loving mother chose he wanted to get away from Lavender Town and have a new name to go with his new self and chose 'Shiji' to replace 'Ren'. This also allowed him to move on from petty things from the past and started to accept the once hurtful nickname 'Cubone', He will miss the times he had from the Pokemon Tower but he had to move on and move on with his life.
Goals:
When he went to Johto to start his Pokemon journey he was mainly driven by his love for pokemon and wanted to own and befriend a team of his own. He also wanted to show the people that cast him down and discouraged him that he could do more and do better even after the things that had happened to him. He wanted to rise to the top and show them wrong.
Other Info:
Whilst in Pokemon Tower he was able to hear and/or contact to certain Pokemon ghosts and ghostly pokemon, he saw this as something that he could use and he helped and contact with these ghosts. This made him love Dark and Ghost Pokemon and he somehow has an ability to contact and even sometimes see Pokemon Ghosts, Maybe even more abilities lie dormant.
