After pulling the mysterious tag from the stick, Alex found himself greeted by some scary thumping sound from nowhere, until the noise-maker revealed itself to be a Misdreavus, who was definitely another one of the ghosts living in the forest. Was there an end to this ghost population? The thumping sound sounded like something from a horror movie, increasing in volume every time that it does, until your heart pounds super fast or your hands sweat profusely. Eventually, when the sound gets to the climax, a Misdreavus appeared in thin air, around the pit where the ash was. Conveniently for Alex, it was a bit too dark for him to see the ash, but his Dustox Tackzill definitely saw that, as she was a moth after all.
Now that another ghost had appeared, there was nothing else to do but to vanquish it. He looked at the Misdreavus, Tackzill, and Casilk for a bit, trying to decide his best course of action. Then he looked at his Chikorita, who was still suffering under some strange sickness. Hm...
"Stay back, Tackzill and Casilk. Tackzill, can you use your power to send out Noctike?" He ordered, and his bug Pokemon happily moved out of the way of the battle. The somewhat psychic moth used a weak psychic power to wobble the Cacnea's Pokeball, and then sent her teammate out into the field. Once he saw that his Cacnea had appeared, he ordered his all-serious cactus to use a Feint Attack.
OOC: not really reflected in RP but lead with Beautifly, and then cacnea use Feint attack

The floating Misdreavus licked around her ghostly lips, temptation to devour the soul of Chikorita and those desperate to help it growing ever stronger. Long ago, the ghostly creature had the form of a hag, a mysterious old woman which no one would trust. Living out in the depths of Ilex Forest, she was dubbed a witch for all the arcane marks she would carve into the trees around her home. Back then, a fire had broken out in the forest and she was caught in the blaze, along with numerous lumberjacks who had been trying to cut down the forest and even the spirit girl from the lake was involved in the raging flames. Her enraged, vile soul not moving onto the afterlife, was instead reborn into the form of a Pokemon by the name of Misdreavus. Coming back for the sole purpose of bringing great misfortune to others, somehow she ended up being trapped beneath the Cleanse Tag. Trapped in a world of darkness, she was only made free again due to Alex removing the tag from it's resting place. It was to help save Chikorita but in return, he had reawoken a scary legend.
Eyeing Alex, the floating spirit watched as he refused to relinquish his grip on the Chikorita and instead relied on the help of his Pokemon to select a Pokeball. Soon enough, an opponent was sent forth to battle the eerie creature. To which, she simply cackled. A very human, old woman type of cackle which was enough to send goosebumps across the skin. Once she was satisfied that her laughter had left her, the Misdreavus suddenly faded and appeared right in the face of Noctike. Pulling a terrifying expression, Noctike shuddered in fear. The look in the Misdreavus' eyes was indescribable but the Cacnea knew one thing. If it tried to leave the battle, it had this overwhelming feeling that the Misdreavus would stop it from doing so. But it didn't spot there. After her frightful stare, the ghostly apparition began to emit strange waves, which quickly sent Noctike into a state of confusion.
Wobbling around on the spot with raised arms, everything around the Cacnea began to blur and voices became distorted. All it could hear was the horrid, low pitched cackle of the Misdreavus, to which the creature began to swing it's arms around to try and stop it. Catching the body of the Misdreavus with it's feint attack, the ghost hissed in anger before jolting backward, in order to create some space between the pair.

Alex didn't really like the feeling when ghost type Pokemon were looking at him and Chikorita intensely with those creepy eyes. Even though they were Pokemon themselves, it still gave him the spine-shivering reaction. He shuddered for a second while holding Chikorita, might have squeezed it a little. When the Misdreavus cackled, it sounded very human, and quite old and female, but he wasn't sure what to make of the noise. Could the sound be an imitation or the ghost was an old woman human?
When the two pokemon exchanged attacks, the Misdreavus seemed to have tricks on its sleeve that were different from the other ghosts Pokemon before him. The Gastly were more direct in attacking, and the Duskull were more about crippling. However, whatever the Misdreavus did just now... he wasn't sure what it was. Either way, he was going to call Feint Attack anyways.
"You can do it, Noctike! Feint Attack again!" Alex hollered, with a coarseness in his voice from hours of not sleeping and staying up right now. He sounded like he needed to sleep.

Although the Misdreavus had been injured by the sneaky strike of Noctike, the spirit had since moved away to create some room between the two. This way, she could also keep a close eye on the Cacnea's state of confusion. Still, she wore a rather hidden, wicked smirk as her head leaned forwards. With Noctike in it's current state, there was no doubt that the Misdreavus could use her powers to overcome the spiky plant. That and she could sense that the human commanding it was clearly tired from this ghost hunting adventure. For the released, evil spirit, this meant victory was near. Then, she could devour the soul of not only the weak and helpless Chikorita but also everything and everyone else around her. It seemed that Alex didn't quite know what he was getting himself in for as he released the Cleanse Tag.
Spinning in the air, Misdreavus began to build up her powers within the pearl like gems which decorated the neck like area of her floating head of a body. Shining with a bright sparkle, the Misdreavus cackled as all of a sudden, a purple, psychic beam spiralled out of the gems and aimed straight for Noctike. Pinning the Cacnea to the ground, the cactus like Pokemon received a fair bit of damage as it wearily stood back up onto it's little legs. Wobbling about in confusion, all Alex could hope for was that his voice would be enough to reach to his Pokemon and clear it's mind. But that didn't happen this time. Rather clumsily tackling itself into a nearby tree, Noctike did more damage to herself than against her opponent.

If Alex had learned anything from his interaction with ghost type Pokemon, was that they probably have a few tricks up their sleeves. For this Misdreavus, putting Noctike into confusion was a trick that had worked very well against the grass type Pokemon, making her susceptible to the ghost type's attack and also damaging herself. If this kept up, then Noctike would be fainted and he would have to switch Pokemon. However, he cannot really switch out his Pokemon now, and she was stuck in a bind.
Trying to cheer up his Pokemon again, Alex began speaking in his sleepless but encouraging voice, "Hang in there Noctike! Try your best to focus and then use Feint Attack again!" He wasn't sure where this battle would go, as the Misdreavus had put him in a bind, and the only thing he could do now was to believe in his Pokemon to pull through.

The Misdreavus had certainly pushed Alex into a corner and the ghost type was loving every moment of it. Feeding off the fear and despair of others is what it yearned for and despite his supportive cheers, she knew that the trainer couldn't do much for his battling partner. Even after death, the wicked witch of Ilex Forest was still plaguing others, to the point where she had been forcefully sealed away with the use of the tag. Hopefully Alex and his other Pokemon would be able to exterminate the ghost once and for all. The victim in all of this, Noctike, felt like a clamp was crushing her very mind. She could her the words of her trainer to the point that she knew it was Alex but something very powerful was convincing her not to listen to his words, an invisible and manipulative force. The world around her spinning, she was trying her very best to break out of this state of confusion but the Misdreavus was one step ahead.
Surprisingly quick, since Misdreavus was a spirit of an old woman, the floating ghost was able to react much quicker than the confused Cacnea. Giving a gut wrenching cackle that her plan had been a success, the Misdreavus figured it was time to take down this first opponent. Once again, the gem like necklace around her neck began to glow and with an almost elegant spin, a burst of psychic energy formed into that of a beam shot the Cacnea down. Rolling onto her back, Noctike didn't appear to be able to battle...
Noctike fainted! Please select another Pokemon.

OOC: Beautifly used Stun Spore
The battle had barely started, and finally one of the ghost Pokemon were able to make Alex's Pokemon faint. It had been so long since he started his journey that, he could not remember if this was the first time or the second time he had a Pokemon fainting. Once the gem on Misdrevus glowed again, Noctike's energy had been depleted, and she passed out on the forest ground.
Shaking his head disapprovingly of himself, and disappointingly at how the battle had turned, he wished he had better planned this battle. It was as if he was close to curing the sick Chikorita, only to be stopped by this mean-spirited ghost. Thinking of his option, he hollered at Caslik, who was flying in the sky as much as the ghost was floating. "Casilk, use Stun Spore on the Misdreavus!" He ordered, thinking that for now, he needed to put his opponent in a bind. Thankfully, as a grass and bug type trainer, status inflicting move aren't hard to come by in his choice of Pokemon.

Both Tackzill and Casilk had been by the side of Alex for this battle and both Pokemon watched as Noctike fell. This Misdreavus was certainly a tricky one but by now, the duo knew a majority of the ghostly Pokemon's moves. As the male trainer fell silent for a moment, after experiencing a very horrible sight of his Pokemon fainting before him, all he could hear through the silence and his thoughts was the sound of the Misdreavus cackling. But all of Noctike's efforts were not in vain. She had still managed to damage the hag like creature with her powerful strikes and it wouldn't be long until Alex could save the Chikorita. He may have had a slight bump in the road but he had to press on and remain positive if he were to complete this quest.
He was so close that he couldn't possibly give up now!
Giving the order to Casilk, the shiny Beautifly had no qualms in taking the stage. To avenge his fallen comrade, the butterfly presented himself to the Misdreavus, who merely smirked. She could sense that Casilk had been a part of previous battles, meaning that he was also not that far from fainting himself. A simple opponent, or so she thought. Using her powers, she managed to place Casilk under the same state of confusion Noctike had fallen into but this time, Casilk found the will to fight back.
Forcing his way through the intense battle of heart over mind, he flew through the air, remembering the words of Alex and releasing a special pollen from his wings. Scattering across the body of the Misdreavus, a horrific expression befell upon her face as all of a sudden, a strange static shot across her body. Not having entire control of herself, the Misdreavus hissed as her floating body began to very slowly drift downward. It seemed Alex's retaliation had been successful. Now, he just had to finish it off once and for all!
Misdreavus: | Level 19 | Health: 32% ( 19/57 HP) Status: Paralyzed Misdreavus used Confuse Ray!
VS
Casilk: | Level 23 | Health: 51% (37/67 HP) Status: Confused Casilk used Stun Spore!

OOC: Using a revive on Cacnea, then switch to Cacnea
IC: With this Chikorita situation still ongoing, and a party Pokemon fainted, AND his body tired and sleepless from this rather unusual quest, Alex had reached a situation that he hadn't met before. He would like to have his Cacnea finish this battle, even if his hands were slightly full right now. Apologizing to the Chikorita, the trainer put the grass type down on the ground, while calling out his Cacnea again, who was still passed out. He had also shouted to his Beautifly to distract the Misdreavus while he was in the middle of healing his Pokemon. Now, he wasn't just healing a random Pokemon, he needed to heal his own Pokemon too!
Then, wearily opening his bag, he grabbed an item known as Revive and used it on his grass type Pokemon, who seemed to have energy restored and woken up. With this part sorted, he would have to assess what the Misdreavus did while he was healing his Pokemon, and to see where to go from here.

Misdreavus was still feeling the rush of defeating one of Alex's Pokemon and she wanted to do the same to his remainder thinking that even when paralyzed she would be able to overpower anything he had left. Little did she know that he had packed a revive just in case things turned sour to give one of his Pokemon another chance and he could not have used his Revive at a better time. Just as Noctike began to feel well enough to battle however the merciless spirit had made plans to cause another of his Pokemon to suffer. The purple spirit began to glow in a pinkish purple hue as a sphere is poisonous fumes built up in front of her. As the Toxic cloud increased in size she sent it towards the poor Beautifly who was not strong enough to blow the cloud away in time. As he breathed in the toxic fumes he could feel his lungs burn and every breath he took increased the discomfort even more. As he struggled to breathe Misdreavus smiled and laughed at the bug believing his days were numbered. Yet again she had underestimated Alex who quickly switched Casilk out for Noctike now that she could battle once again. Misdreavus was beyond frustrated at it's lack of luck the last few rounds. She had done everything right but the human was still standing and now even the Cacnea she had knocked out was back on it's feet. As she tried to launch another attack her body froze in mid air. The Stun Spore she had inhaled earlier had caused her to lose control of her body as she failed to perform any kind of attack whatsoever. All she could do was look at her foe and hope the next round went a lot better than this one had or else she might not have another chance to stop the pesky human. Pokemon Battle

OOC: well this quest is near the end I believe? IC: As Alex was treating the grass type by providing ailment to recover Noctike from the passed out status, the tricky Misdreavus conjured a cloud of poisonous fume that sent the Beautifly to a sickly, toxic state. This was a new trick that he hasn't seen before. With one Pokemon recovered, the ghost still managed to fight through the paralysis to cause problem for another Pokemon on his hand. This wasn't helpful to solve the situation at all. When the Cacnea was conscious enough to engage the Misdreavus again, the sickly Beautifly flew to the side, to which Alex returned the bug Pokemon after thanking Casilk's help. Now, he just needed to finish up this Misdreavus. With his Cacnea back into action, he wasted no time to call out an attack. "Noctike, Feint Attack again!" He shouted in his coarse and sleepless voice. With one Pokemon or two in his party suffering status, and also actually holding a Chikorita who was suffering before he even started this quest, he needed to finish up this quest and oust some ghosts.

Misdreavus was now fighting the paralysis with everything it got, its gem shining in brilliance at its efforts, but nothing happened. It knew if it could just get another attack in on the human's Pokemon, his spirit would be its for the taking, and it wouldn't have to eat for a long while after. The despair from losing the last hope always tasted the best, and Misdreavus worked hard for those kind of meals, but this one was putting up more of a fight, than it believed possible. The human even dared to use its own stall tactics, which was aggravating to say the least, and even worse, they were working. Misdreavus emitted a wave of cruel sobbing into the surrounding. It was one of those sounds, that made gooseflesh run all the way down ones back, and the hair in the neck stand on end, very discomforting. It was Misdreavus last ditch effort to drag enough fear from its victims to pull free of its paralysis. It was the last thing it managed. Noctike, though weary from the long night and all the battles, turned a deaf ear to the sound and attacked unrelenting. She wasn't fast, but she didn't have to be. The Misdreavus hung limp in the air, and all Noctike had to do was make a small jump, and slash into its trembling form with her blackened needle arms. End of story. The form of Misdreavus dissipated into the stil lingering fog. The feeling in the air lightened considerable. However, something still felt off. It was like everything was holding its breath, waiting for something. Spirit battle

OOC: no, dustox is just on the side chilling
Even though the battle with the Misdreavus had been un-predicted on its own, such as his Noctike being unable to switch out and then ended up fainting, as well as his Beautifly ended up being paralyzed, this ghost busting had been a lesson in triumph over tough adversary. With the Misdreavus defeated, he thanked his Pokemon for their hard work, and held onto the Spell Tag that was from this area.
Though there was one problem, the Chikorita was still looking sickly, and the unsettling feeling was still around. He could feel it. Perhaps there was still one more ghost to bust? He did remember the lake spirit said to find the tag, but what happened after that? He was now too tired to remember. He would have to look around anyways, since he was both tired and forgot about if there was a next part.
