The evil mastermind Gengar (Level 25) has challenged you to a battle. Please select a Pokemon.

As if this save the Chikorita situation hadn't' been weird enough, now the forest shrine had warped into something rather... creepy and revealed a Gengar, who might have been the boss all along all this time. Sadly, Alex was just a bit disappointed that the opponent wasn't a Dusclops or a Dus... something, whichever the highest form of evolution was. What even stranger was that the Gengar was speaking, or he thought that was telepathy or something. Wait, telepathy. He listened to every word the ghost type Pokemon had spoke before he had say something. However, he was also so tired that he might have heard or digested part of them.

Although his voice was shivering with some fear because he don't think ghosts would really exists outside of ghost Pokemon, and also tired from staying up pretty much all night, He began voicing his response. "It looks like your plans didn't involve getting rid of this cleanse tag then?... And plus, I am too tired to pay attention to your curse. I will probably die from staying up late too long or dehydration from all these non-stop walking and sweating before you would kill me. I remember fighting some Duskull and Gastly, but I was a bit disappointed you weren't a Dusclops or Duskhead." He spoke, yawning like five times in the process of saying just this two sentences alone. Afterwards, he recalled his Dustox and Beautifly, and then finally called out his Ariados again, his trusty shadow-lurker.

"Come on out, Spiden! Show this Gengar your Shadow Sneak--" he ordered, yawning again. He tossed out a Pokeball to finally send a big red spider on the field, who was ready to have a battle to finish this darn quest once and for all.

The cackling Gengar was let down himself as the reaction from Alex was far from interesting. The trainer had been through so much and he was absolutely tired of it all. Still, he wanted to save the Chikorita which was cradled in his arms and that was what pushed him to keep going. Voicing his lack of care and disappointment of the spirit's form, the smiling Gengar soon lost it's cheshire like grin. "Foolish human. Speaking to me in such a way." His crimson red eyes glaring across to Alex, after lingering in the shrine and finally making itself known to a heroic human, his reaction was... Far from what the Gengar had anticipated. He had hoped to crush one of those goody goody types, who want to save the world from despair and anguish. But Alex was just some tired kid, it certainly ruined the mood, for Gengar atleast. "Heh. Heheheh. Flora was wrong to ask a kid like you for help. Showing your weakness like that... Don't worry. This will all be over soon. And then you can rest... For eternity!"

A shrill laugh bellowing throughout the woodland, the Gengar spotted his opponent and rushed in to attack with incredible speed. However, Spiden hurriedly hid herself within the shadows and used them to escape the attack from the Gengar. Pausing, he looked around cautiously. "Itsy witsy spider... Where are-- ACK!" With her mighty legs, the Ariados lept from the shadows, pinning the Gengar to the ground and tearing at him with her fangs. But with a chuckle, the Gengar dispersed into a purple haze before reforming in front of Spiden. "Sneaky... But get a load of this!" Pulling his arms back and holding them by his side, the Gengar created a mass of ghostly energy before cackling madly and throwing it straight for Spiden. The attack colliding, the spider barely managed to remain standing but she was still in the game.

Not paying too much to what he thought the hallucinated Gengar was speaking with him in telepathy, Alex was trying his best to focus on the battle between the maniacal cackles and his fatigue. He wanted to help the Chikorita, and it seemed that this Gengar would be the one last thing to heal the Chikorita. However, after the Shadow Ball hit, he had a sudden realization that he don't have a lot of option going on with him. His Pokemon weren't particularly highly experienced, and two of them were not in their best shape for this battle. Had he not forgotten to heal up his Pokemon, he wouldn't have to worry about this situation, but now, he was stuck in a battle bind for the first time in his life, purely because healing up his Pokemon slipped his mind.

If his experience from fighting the previous weren't enough, then he wouldn't know what to do. Surely, the Gengar probably had other tricks up its sleeve but it was going for offense first. Sighing, Alex called Spiden to stepped aside, as he tossed out another Pokeball onto the field. "Casilk, start with a Morning Sun first!" he ordered and sent out the multiple colored beautifly. The battle from here on now would be all about taking a risk.

Gengar could feel Alex begin to get desperate upon seeing just how powerful he truly was. The evil specter was full of more than just words and with Spiden in really poor shape Alex had no choice but to switch to another one of his Pokemon. Gengar laughed at the idea of the human trying to stall him however it would be great for increasing his strength even more as he knocked out Alex's Pokemon one at a time. He believed that Alex would not dare use Spiden anytime soon given it's horrid current shape and the humans next Pokemon caused the ghost type to begin laughing. " You cannot be serious. This bug is even more pathetic than your last. If this is all you can do I am wasting my time."

Gengar did not even want to waste his energy attacking what he saw as a weakling and so trickery was his first choice in trying to deal with Casilk. " Here have a taste of my Confuse Ray and take yourself out of the picture like a good little pest." The hypnotic waves flowing from Gengar's eyes left Casilk confused and unable to focus on even the most basic task. Despite it's confusion the bug was not out of the woods yet as Gengar began to make another move. Holding his arms out to the side another Shadow Ball began to form and the helpless bug could only watch in horror as the specter was ready to strike again.

" Just in case you need another reminder of my power here is another Shadow Ball for you to feast on." As the ball of pure evil struck Casilk she could hardly keep flapping her wings as her energy dropped dramatically. Just as all hope seemed lost however a blinding light as bright as the sun began to surround her. The light restored a lot of her energy while leaving Gengar blinded for a moment. " That light was so bright. So I guess you are not so worthless after all. I am going to take my time with you now instead of taking you out quickly as I want you to suffer for as long as your body will allow before you meet your demise." He said as he waited for another round to start.

The Gengar seemed to be continue laughing at Alex, making a tirade out of his choice of Pokemon now. This was the first time that a POKEMON made fun of him for what Pokemon he would choose to raise. The menacing Gengar then utilized another tactical confuse ray and also a Shadow Ball attack, the same move that knocked a huge chunk of stamina out of Spiden. However, when the Morning Sun was used, the big ghost further taunts him with a sadistic comment.

"Casilk, hang in there! Fly low so that I can heal you up!" He commented, and the quite-confused bug Pokemon attempted to fly lower a little, allowing Alex to reach his bug. Then, grabbing a potion and then a Full Heal from his bag, he worked on healing the injured bug Pokemon. This wouldn't have happened if he remembered to heal his Pokemon before this battle, but he needed to do what eh can do now.

[Morrigan]

The ghastly Gengar remained standing, with his devilishly wide, grinning expression expanding upon picking up on Alex's regret. The trainer had only wanted to help the young grass type, who still laid in his arms but if he wasn't careful, it wouldn't only be the Chikorita who would feel the Gengar's demise but Alex's own Pokemon and even himself, too! Tiredness effecting his thoughts, he had missed the chance to safely heal his Pokemon out of battle but that didn't mean this was over just yet. Right in front of him, Casilk was doing his best to keep battling and so, Alex needed to keep his head up proudly too. Surely there was some kind of weakness in the Gengar's defense that he could exploit.

"Puhuhuh!" Chuckling once more as Alex attempted to reign in his confused Beautifly, apart from the fact that Alex had said what he was about to do out loud, the Gengar figured that this would happen. "Healing, eh? Heheh. That will just make things more fun! Keep healing and I'll keep attacking." Only, as Alex first sprayed the Potion, healing the wounds of Casilk, the Gengar lifted his chubby arms and with a waggle of his fingers, sent out a few invisible, hypnotic waves. Slowly, Casilk fell from the air, falling into a deep sleep at Alex's feet. "WHAHAHA!" But this action proved to be futile, as Alex had another item prepared.

Using a full heal to remove all status effects, the Beautifly soon awoke. "Stubborn as a mule... Very well!" Using his powers once more to send a wave of confusion over Casilk, it was difficult to tell if the infliction was better or worse than actual damage.

Even though battling this Gengar had barely begun, the ghost type Pokemon have more than enough ticks up its sleeves to make Alex's battle very difficult. The powerful shadow ball would be good enough to knock out most of his Pokemon in one or two turns, and the equally tricky and risky Confuse Ray could make his Pokemon knock themselves out. Both moves were bad, honestly. In addition, even if he had healing supplies, they were still finite, while the Gengar could attack in whatever fashion that he wanted. Now that his Beautifly was cured of poison though, he could finally monitor his Pokemon's health hopefully, in a better way.

"Good job Casilk, hang in there! Try and watch out this Gengar's every move!" He shouted, cheering his Pokemon to fought back the opponent's minor bickering, Then, using a bit softer voice, he called in his bug Pokemon again and used another Potion to heal the winged insect. Afterwards, he sternly instructed the Beautifly to use a Stun Spore, and so this was where he was beginning to take some risks to fight this atrocity of evil Gengar.

[Morrigan]

Alex's Beautifly was still confused but not a lot could be done in this battle. The Gengar had numerous attacks which focused on stats and the other being a powerful burst of energy, which was nearly enough to knock a Pokemon out in one blast. But Casilk hung in there with a strained expression, his mind repeating over and over to himself about how the Gengar was his opponent, but the ghost's crimson red eyes also tried to tell the bug otherwise. Flinching his eyes shut to try and block out the Gengar, one thing that couldn't be avoided was the eerie cackle it occasionally emitted. "You look as if you're bugging out! Hahaha!" Swimming amongst the shadows, the Gengar lifted his arms and with a wriggle of his fingers, continued on with his mind games. "Sleeepy! Sleeeeepy! You're becoming very sleepy!" Trying to use it's Hypnosis attack to send Casilk into a deep slumber, the Beautifly somehow managed to shrug the attempt off, much to the disappointment of the Gengar, whose shoulders slumped and grin turned upside down. "Hmph. Fine then."

Grumbling off to itself, it's pair of red eyes followed the sight of Alex, who stepped forward with another Potion and gave his order, hoping that his words would break through to Casilk, even through all the confusion it was suffering from. "Boring! BOOORING! This is getting boring! I will just pin that bug down then! HYAH!" With a crouched pose, the Gengar let loose a Shadow Ball, which had formed in the spirit's hand. Spinning through the air like a baseball, it knocked Casilk right out of the air, his precious wings dragging across the dirt. Shrilling in glee, the Gengar hopped from one foot to another, excited at the thought of seeing the despair in Alex's face at the sight of his fainted Pokemon. But Casilk was made of stronger stuff. Lifting his weak head, the Beautifly had managed to unleash a cloud of spores with a flick of his wings, which slowly began to drift it's way towards the Gengar. "Wuh--What is THIS?!" Feeling a crackle dance across his ethereal body, it seemed that the ghost had been hit with a spot of paralysis.

With Spiden the Ariados stepped aside, and finally putting a status to slow down the gengar, the sleepy and tired Alex felt a bit of relief, and glad to be able to take this opportunity to fix up some of his injured Pokemon. He could see his confused Pokemon fluttering aimlessly, while the Gengar loudly mocked the poor bug type. As if that wasn't enough, the giant ghost Pokemon was also trying to put Casilk into sleep, and likely finishing him. Fortunately, the Casilk didn't fall asleep from the Gengar's attempt at hypnosis. If he did, it would make this battle even trickier.

Thankfully though, his Pokemon had managed to land a stunning stun spore on the ghost Pokemon. So, it seemed that, even ghosts were not immune to the effect of nature's grassy spores. The Stun Spore was enough to put the Gengar to paralysis, slowing down its attack.

"Good job, Casilk!" He thanked his Pokemon for landing the attack. Next, seizing the opportunity after the paralysis had landed, he grabbed a Soda Pop and turned to Spiden next to him, and let the worn out spider drank the soda pop, letting the bug recovered lost stamina.

[Morrigan]

Feeling the paralysis take over it's body, the Gengar looked visibly shocked, as if it had never experienced this feeling before. "Why isn't... My body... Doing what I SAY?!" Becoming frustrated in itself, the Gengar was still able to move but it's limbs had become heavy, as if it's mind and body was no longer connected. During this moment of being flustered, Alex had managed to heal Spiden, his Ariados, on the sidelines. This paralysis would help him in the long run, even if Casilk could potentially fall. But the Beautifly didn't seem to mind and instead, remained poised inbetween the Gengar and Alex, to remind the horrid spirit just who his current opponent was. Casilk's beautiful wings glistened and with a shake of his head, he became that much more determined to stick this through! Breaking through the confusion it once had in it's mind, the Beautifly wouldn't be falling to any more tricks. Or atleast, for now anyway. "No! No! I wont let you... Get away!" The Gengar was far from fainting but if Alex played his cards right, he still had a chance to save Chikorita and Ilex Forest from this vile creature.

Once again, the ghostly Pokemon wriggled his fingers, using invisible waves to try and lull Casilk into a nice little dream world. But the Beautifly once again brushed it off, creating even more anger within the Gengar. "Why you-- GAAH!" The paralysis kicking in more than usual, the body of Gengar suddenly slumped forward. He was unable to move an inch and no matter how hard it tried, couldn't even open it's mouth to hurl abuse at the trainer. He was luckily enough to be able to flinch his eyes such, however, as a number of rays of the sun poked through the foliage of the tall trees, healing the Beautifly a little in the process. If the Gengar was stopped by the paralysis for just a bit longer, there was no doubt that Alex would win. There was a chance of it back firing, however, ultimately making the Gengar more violent on the few times that it was able to move. Judging from it's pained expression, it wanted nothing more than to hurl Shadow Ball's in every single direction that it could.

After finally caught up on healing his party of injured Pokemon from his accidental lack of care, Alex finally got some of his key Pokemon back in top health to finish up this battle. "Your body isn't doing what you want because you are paralyzed. You know how to put Pokemon to sleep, but you don't know anything about paralysis? And plus, you live in a forest, or was trapped in a forest. I thought you would know a few things about plants...." the trainer replied the ghost, after ignoring the Gengar for a bit to take of his own business. He let out a long yawn as he paused on the last word. "Stun spore is a grass type move that puts opponent to paralysis, it's basically a natural defense mechanism. Watch out next time when you try to curse some plants, okay?"

"Casilk, thank you very much for your help and stand back. Spiden, go back and use Shadow Sneak on the Gengar again!" Alex spoke, putting a hand over his mouth before letting loose another yawn, as he watched his Pokemon swapped place. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the end of this fight.

"Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!" Gengar snarled, eyes flaring with anger. He seemed to have at least a bit of control of his body at the moment, even if it wasn't as strong as his non paralyzed state. "You speak as if you know everything, and proceed to babble when no one cares! I will destroy this forest and everything in it, including you, you annoying brat!" Hate and ominous waves seemed to waft off of the Gengar as Alex unintentionally egged the creature on. Even though Gengar was slightly weakened, the plants and life around it seemed to still waft off and die. If not dead, they were wilting, as if everything they were made out of, and all the energy they had were being sapped out of them. There was no reason to fight back when it came to Gengar, it was too strong for the forest. "Heheh..." 

With Spiden healed up a slight bit, Alex gave the call for the two to switch out. Narrowing it's eyes in a bit of perverse glee, Gengar waited in the shadows until Spiden was back onto the field. "Don't think i'm letting you capitalize on my weaknesses again..." Gengar stepped forth from the shadows, focusing all of it's attention on Spiden. Hallucinogenic waves seemed to waft off of Gengar, focusing in the direction that it wiggled its fingers, but the attack seemed to have no effect on Spiden. Thanks to his ability, the Ariados was unharmed.  "Heh! Lucky break for you." Gengar hissed, ready to attack Spiden once more. However, the Ariados emerged from the shadows with an excellent Shadow Sneak before Gengar could react. When the ghost recovered from the quick nature of the attack, it brushed it's fur off and narrowed it's eyes at the Ariados. It got a good hit in, but it wasn't going to live much longer.

"I don't care about the plants. I don't care about the Pokemon. I just want to have fun feasting on all of this mayhem and destruction. This paralysis doesn't keep me down all the time, it seems..." Gengar snickered, clenching a ghostly fist before creating another shadowy ball to propel towards Spiden. It hit without a hitch, and Spiden's body crumpled to the ground, nearly fainted before it could make an attempt to dodge. "I'll take advantage of whatever I can with the time I have." Gengar snickered, now turning to face Alex. Even though Gengar had been damaged, Spiden was looking rather worse for wear compared to the battling ghost. This detail wasn't missed by Gengar, who was elated by it. "Kek! I can't wait to shut that yawning mouth up for good!"

The shut up coming from Gengar was a bit unexpected and different compared to the snickering, that it made Alex jumped for a second, even though the Gengar had been talking to itself this whole time. He could observe the plants surrounding the Gengar seemed to be dying, and he wasn't sure if that was an illusion or actually happening. It looked real, though. Afterwards, the Gengar tried to use Hypnosis, but it failed thanks to Spiden's sleepless ability. The trainer sighed a breath of relief that he didn't have to deal with his Pokemon being put in various status effects once more. Then, afterward, the Gengar threw another Shadow Ball, which was quite expected though.

Alex yawned before starting to speak, "Well, paralysis does allow the Pokemon to move sometimes, but I think it would be enough to stop you, Gengar. Spiden, go and use another Shadow Sneak! Hit this Gengar hard!" He shouted with his coarse, sleepless voice. Sooner or later, the Gengar would be gone for good, and he just had to keep pushing through!

As Gengar prepared to deliver a finishing blow Spiden began to shift into a shadow like form allowing her to move at an incredible rate while using the shadows as cover preventing Gengar from getting a lock on his target and driving him mad in the process. " You little rascal come out of hiding so I can finish you off. Your games are a mere annoyance to me and it is time to put a stop to it." He said as he tried to guess where Spiden would show up again however as the specter failed to keep track of her she managed to get behind him and rammed him with a shadowy aura. The attack caused Gengar's body to begin to disintegrate right before Alex's eyes with what looked to have been a fatal blow. Mere seconds passed however before Gengar reformed even more powerful than ever surrounded by all the ghost he had defeated on the quest.

With the army of the damned surrounding him Gengar was just about to unleash a powerful combination of attacks beyond the comprehension of any mortal however a voice from the distance distracted him for a moment. " Stop it daddy I will not let you harm that Chikorita anymore." As the ghost of Flora appeared in front of him blocking his line of sight. A blinding flash surrounded them before they vanished into thin air and in their place a small Pokemon with tiny wings and big eyes was seen hovering in front of him before it flew over and began to heal the Chikorita Alex had been trying to save. The grass type began to glow as the guardian of the forest touched it's forehead curing it of the curse that had long since plagued it.

Suddenly the small Pokemon began to speak using what seemed to be a form of telepathy. " The courage you have displayed today will not be forgotten by those who call this forest home. I wish you safe travels in your journeys and know that you have the blessings of this forest wherever you may go. I trust you will take good care of this Chikorita which I have managed to cure of that horrible curse." it said before vanishing into the shrine. As it vanished the area surrounding the shrine began to feel might lighter than before and all traces of the battle had vanished as if the curse had been lifted from the land.
