As Marechbaby and Alpha reached Violet City they hurried along to Route 32 and the fishing jetty located there. The young Beldeum was all ready to dive into action as soon as they reached the water's edge however before it could get itself into a bad situation Marchbaby had a few words of advice for the young Beldum. " Hold up a second Alpha the Pokemon who live here are a bit stronger than those in Cherrygrove and there are a few Pokemon that live here that you have not encountered yet. Let's wait and see what if anything we can hook before you just jump into battle mode." He said as he grabbed the Old Rod out of his backpack.
The Old Rod was still somehow holding together after a couple of Magikarps had tugged on it's line but the Pokemon here were a bit stronger and Marchbaby was a bit worried that some of the Pokemon here might snap the rod in half if they bit on the line. " I really hope this rod holds together for a while longer. I know there is a fishing store in Goldenrod but they only sell the better rods to those who have proven their skills so for now we have to find a way to make this rod last until we prove we are ready for an upgrade." With the Old Rod in his hands he tossed the line out into the water and began to wait hoping for a bite and in the meantime he sent out Blubber so she could watch as well.
" Blubber I think you will enjoy watching me fish as well and on the off hand whatever we catch is too strong for Alpha you might be able to weaken it enough so it can win. You should be close to learning a new move soon so it might be beneficial for you to help Alpha as much as I know you dislike battles. There Pokemon here should be strong enough to handle whatever you throw at them without getting hurt too much so you will not have to feel too bad and Alpha needs all the help it can get until it evolves." As he turned back to face his line he continued to wait for a bite hoping it would come soon. He really wanted to raise both Blubber and Alpha as soon as he could and Blubbler was very close to learning a dragon type move that would help considerably on his quest.

Continuing on with his training, Marchbaby left the quiet outskirts of Cherrygrove City upon noticing his Beldum becoming too strong for the wild Pokemon who lurked in the area. The sign of progress was something positive, enough to convince him that moving onto a route with slightly stronger Pokemon was a better option for him. This time, however, it wasn't just Alpha that his attention was focused on but also his Goomy, Blubber. Polar opposites in that one Pokemon loved to battle and the other would prefer to avoid confrontation altogether, as a pair, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out, with Marchbaby leading the two of them. As they crossed the frost bitten route, Marchbaby's goal was to continue fishing, as those who dwelled underneath the water's surface were often much easier opponents. Compared to his previous location, the jetty which sat within Route 32 had a few extra species which were more manoeuvrable than the common Magikarp. But with his team, the trainer would've been able to handle them just fine.
Cautious of the stability of his Old Rod, Marchbaby tossed the line into the surface of the water regardless and awaited a tug from the other end. With the goal of Blubber learning a new move and Alpha evolving, there was still work to be done but he was oh so close. As the trio waited above ground, underneath the water's surface, many water type Pokemon were fluttering about, most intentionally avoiding the randomly floating piece of bait. But it didn't take long at all for an oblivious, almost stupid creature to gulp the hook and line down. Followed by a sharp tug from Marchbaby out of instinct, he pulled up his catch, revealing a hungry looking Poliwag. Landing on the ground with a bit of a skip, the water tadpole danced on the spot. Hoping that the human would give it some food in return for tricks and dances, unfortunately for the Poliwag, the only dish it would be getting was pain.

As soon as Marchbaby saw the Poliwag he knew he had mad a good choice in holding his Pokemon back. He knew they could hypnotize their foes leaving them helpless before attacking them or fleeing. With that in mind he had no choice but to use a Pokemon he really did not want to use in the battle so something good would come out of it. " Whoa hold on there you two will be in trouble if that Poliwag uses Hypnosis. Though it is true you could both benefit if you win there is a lot of risk involved here and I am not about to take that chance right now. Instead I will be using an old friend of mine to show you two a thing or two about how to handle a foe such as this." He said as he grabbed the Pokeball containing Bonecrusher. As he tossed the Pokeball the shiny Aron appeared in front of him and his two other Pokemon wondering why it was going to battle such a low leveled Pokemon.
" I know for you this Poliwag does not look like much but Blubber and ALpha need to see how a pro handles a situation like this so they do not end up making any mistakes. I would love to let Alpha have a go here but it is not quite time yet and Blubber does not like fighting much but seeing you might encourage her to give it a try." He said s the shiny Aron walked towards the young water type in front of him. Bonecrusher had already picked on a poor Pikachu earlier so this Poliwag was not too much of a threat to him but as Alpha and Blubber needed to learn he was going to give it his all to teach them the ways of fighting at a far greater level than than had seen to this point. Bonecrusher stretched out his legs and howled at the thrilling thought of unleashing Headbutt on another target as Iron Head would not be an effective move in this case.
" I want you to to take a few notes of what you are about to see. Bonecrusher here has been with me for a long time and should evolve soon so he can give you quite a few pointers. I swear he has some dragon blood in him with his incredible determination and power. Just think of how strong you two may become if you follow Bonecrusher's advice. Bonecrusher show them what I mean by using Headbutt on Poliwag." He said as Bonecrusher lowered his head and began to run towards his new target.
Ooc: Being a bit afraid of Hypnosis I am taking the safe option here and using Bonecrusher. He uses Headbutt on Poliwag.

Finding itself on dry land, the smooth moving Poliwag had hoped to be welcomed with open arms and bask in a royal feast of delicious food. Unfortunately for the water tadpole, that wasn't the case and it would soon wish that it had turned around and jumped back into the water before Marchbaby could work out what to do. Figuring that the water type had a special move which could put his two, young Pokemon in a bit of danger or rather, slow the battle to the point of it being painful to watch, the aspiring dragon tamer took a different route. Deciding to use this battle as an example for the new trainees to follow, Marchbaby chose a strong, loyal member of his team to defeat this first hooked fish, of many. The small, shiny Aron appearing from the flash of bright light, his large crimson eyes stared over to the shocked looking Poliwag.
Aron was the complete opposite of food, he didn't look edible what so ever. This meant that the human hadn't pulled it out of the water to give it some goodies but rather to use as training fodder. Absolutely horrified, the Poliwag found itself frozen on the spot, shuddering under the pressure of battling and intimidate glare of Bonecrusher. With a pull of his front leg, the Aron reared himself up before dashing forward and landing a skull splitting headbutt against the soft body of the Poliwag. A high pitch squeal leaving it's pouted lips as it flew through the air, the Poliwag arched up and beyond, landing back in the water on the opposite side of the jetty.
Congratulations! The wild Poliwag was defeated! Bonecrusher gained 450 experience! (2020/2611) +1 Happiness

Having handled the Poliwag without the slightest bit of trouble Marchbaby picked up the old rod and began to ponder if he might have better luck searching in the tall grass since if something too tough for Alpha or Blubber did jump out at him he had some of his stronger Pokemon that would be able to deal with them. With that in mind he carefully placed the old rod into his backpack before walking away from the jetty as he headed for the tall grass. The frost still covered the ground as he searched for anything that might want to battle. As he reached the tall grass he stopped for a moment to look back at Bonecrusher, Alpha, and Blubber who were tagging behind him. " It has been a long time since I explored the grass here. The Pokemon and trainers here are usually really young but there are a few who be able to fight a bit better so be careful just in case."
Once he entered the grass noises could be heard in all directions likely having been disturbed when he entered the grass. He hoped that whatever might end up sticking it's head out would be willing to fight as he was falling further and further behind his brother who unbeknownst to him had already earned his second badge. Had Marchbaby known the news he would have sped up his training considerably to try and stop his brother from getting any closer to Blackthorn however as he did not know he stayed at his usual pace. The cold weather was not helping their spirits as they tried to fight through the cold to search for something to battle. Only a complete fool would have been out in this frost however Marchbaby was desperate to stop his brother no matter the cost.
With noises all around him he knew there was only the matter of waiting until something would grow enough courage to come and seek him out and he was just waiting for that exact moment. Alpha and Blubber both still needed more training and Bonecrusher was so close to evolving by now that Marchbaby was desperate to find something. " It should not be too much longer before we will encounter something. Once we do I will make the call on what to do next but for now be ready at a moments notice just in case I need one of you to attack."

Parting from the side of the jetty, Marchbaby folded away his trusty Old Rod and decided to take a different turn in his training. The sound of his footsteps leaving the side of the bank soon began to crunch with each and every step as both he and his Pokemon moved across the frost bitten, tall grass. A goal in mind, Marchbaby needed to level up his team members in order to progress and stop his rampaging brother. But that in itself was quite a difficult task. Whilst Marchbaby had recently acquried a number of good Pokemon, they were still fairly young. Whilst Tyler was only rising in terms of strength and power, to the point of almost being ready to move onto the next Gym in Goldenrod City. But slow and steady wins the race, as they say. As long as Marchbaby raised his Pokemon with love, care and consideration, then there would be now way for Tyler to win once the time for confrontation arrived. They both had a long way to go and for Marchbaby, he had that bit more of a lead.
Moving through the tall grass with Pokemon by his side, it was his more experienced Pokemon, Bonecrusher, who suddenly turned his head to the side. Having lived in dark caves, the Aron was able to pick up on even the faintest of noises and his sudden alert posture proved to be useful in alerting the others he was with. Attention focused on a bush up ahead, once Marchbaby and the team stopped moving, the bush rustled. All of a sudden, a Pokemon popped it's head out from between the foliage, it's body following after it. Fluttering in the air, the creature was known as Ledyba, a bug with hidden wings and many appendages. The way it was acting, by looking around suspiciously, almost suggested that the Pokemon was hiding from something and in fact, it only appeared once the sound of Marchbaby's footsteps came to a halt. Thus, when the bug's eyes finally landed on the human hidden behind the tall grass, the red shelled bug flinched in surprise. Little arms moving in unison, the bug frowned at Marchbaby and looked ready to scoot towards him to attack.

When Marchbaby noticed the Ladyba grow startled ready to attack he wondered why the bug had acted so aggressively. Ladyba were mostly a calm species and as the tall grass was a common place for people and Pokemon to run through he did not understand why a bug Pokemon would want to try and lash out. What he did know was that Ladyba were not a very fast Pokemon until they evolved and Alpha would be able to take advantage of that if it were to battle the bug type and Ladyba also lacked any damaging moves that would be a huge problem. " You seem pretty tough for a Ladyba, I wonder what has set you off so badly. I guess you must want to battle now and I accept your challenge." He said as Alpha took position in front of him.
Marchbaby had not battled a Ladyba in a very long time however he did know they had one of two moves that could prove annoying though not very dangerous to a Beldum. " You have the advantage here Alpha however do not think this battle will be a pushover. Ladyba are know to use Supersonic to confuse their foes as a last ditch effort to protect themselves and I do not want you to think you will be completely safe from this one. Keep your wits about you." He said as Alpha was ready to perform a Take Down with all of it's might. The young Beldum had been wanting to try and use the move on something with a bit more muscle than a Magikarp and it was about to get a chance as Ladyba looked ready to attack at any moment.
" Ladyba are you sure you still want to battle us. I would hate to see you get hurt by fighting something with far more strength than you have but if you still want to battle I will not hold Alpha back. It's Take Down is very powerful for such a small Pokemon and a young thing like yourself can be seriously injured if you are rammed by it." Seeing the Ladyba refuse to yield however Marchbaby knew there was no other choice than to show the bug type what happens when you bite off more than you can chew. " I hate to do this but as you will not yield I must use force to make you understand what happens when you pick a fight with a dragon tamer. Alpha use Take Down on Ladyba."
Ooc: Marchbaby sends out Alpha who uses Take Down.

Ledyba and the rest of it's species were indeed gentle creatures but after being so startled by the human's presence, it was on the tip of it's toes. Little fists clenching in unison as if to say it was ready for a good fight, no matter what Marchbaby said, it didn't seem likely that the bug would change it's mind. Calm in his own tone, the trainer had tried his best to reason with the bug but as words failed, his only other option would've been to use action. Of which, Alpha was very grateful for. There was only so many splashing Magikarp it could take down without growing bored and after being in the presence of a Champion for so long, the Beldum longed to face opponents which were actually worthy. Magikarp were puny but this opponent looked as if it would atleast try to defend itself. It gave Alpha even more reason to not bother holding back and go in at his full strength.
Eyeing the Beldum cautiously, the wild Ledyba had never seen such an odd opponent but it could certainly sense just how battle hungry it's opponent was. Too late to back down now, the bug was going to try and use it's powers to send it's opponent into a state of confusion but it couldn't even manage that. Greatly outspeeding the bug, the Beldum shot it's body forward like that of a torpedo, knocking the hovering Ledyba out of the air and swiftly hitting the ground. Seeing as it didn't get up to fly away or even attack back, it was safe to assume that Alpha had won this round. He had hoped for a better opponent so maybe he would be lucky with the next one.
Congratulations! The wild Ledyba was defeated! Alpha gained 1 level and grew to Level 16! +1 Happiness

As Ledyba fell in defeat in a single blow Marchbaby was ecstatic that Alpha did not struggle to knock out the aggressive Ledyba at all. The young Beldum was growing stronger by the minute and at this rate just a few more battles would be enough for it to evolve into a Metang so it would finally have a better move pool. Blubber still needed to be trained as well which would be an even harder task than raising Alpha due to her poor move set and poor offensive stats. As a dragon tamer however he was not going to rest until his young dragon finally learned her first dragon type move and Alpha evolved and Bonecrusher still needed to evolve as well. As he looked at the three Pokemon and smiled he began to talk to his Pokemon.
" So far so good guys. Alpha you have been doing an amazing job so far and Blubber once we find a suitable opponent I want you to at least try and battle it as I want you to learn a dragon type move. Few types resist dragon type attacks and the sooner you are able to learn one the easier it will be to defend yourself until we can evolve you as well. I know you are no Dratini or Bagon but you do still have power hidden within you beneath your lovable exterior. I know the heart of a dragon warrior resides within you and I want to help you unlock it so you can see your full potential. The only way we will stop my brother is with the help of dragons and other powerful Pokemon and you no doubt will play a huge role when we stop him and Mania once and for all." As his Pokemon nodded he knew all he could do for now was keep searching for more opponents to face.
He stayed in the tall grass as his first encounter here had been a great one for training his team. He did not want to chance going back to the Jetty for the time being as his attempt there did not go over well and Alpha was strong enough to face a good number of the Pokemon on land now and given time Blubber would be able to as well. Even if those two could not handle it alone Bonecrusher was standing by ready to provide assistance if needed.
Ooc: Waiting for an encounter in the tall grass.

While the trio continued their rigorous training regiment, the wild Pokemon of the route were having their own sort of conundrum to face. With the rise of swarming Pokemon, it seemed to be pushing the native Pokemon out of their spots. With the Lillipup taking space in some of the ground dens set by the Sentret, the Sentret were forced to scrabble up trees with their claws to try and find dens up in the branches. Pidgey were being forced out of their nests, which meant they were forced to the ground. With Pidgey looting around on the ground, the Spinarak, Ledyba and Bellsprout were hard pressed to be seen. Budew weren't so happy about the situation either. With Spinarak making themselves scarce, there was beginning to be a bit of a bug problem. The Circle of Life was not necessarily happening. Which meant the Lillipups had to continue swarming somewhere else. The Pokemon noted their distaste by trying to shoo off the pups as best they could, but with so many hopping around on the route, it's not like they could do anything. Violet City was large, but even the pups liked the grass versus the main City. Whenever a Lillipup would wander by, many Pokemon went to hide in order to make themselves less known as well as their dens. Lillipup couldn't accidentally push them out, as many of the light-hearted creatures didn't mean it, if they were full. This particular Lillipup wasn't sure where all of it's newfound friends were, but it was determined to find out. Sniffing here and there throughout the tall grass it made its way towards the first friendly smell it could find. So, of course, when Lillipup wandered onto Marchbaby and the trio of Pokemon being trained, it cocked it's head in confusion. This trainer seemed nice, which is perhaps why it was drawn in this direction, but weren't most trainers mean? Either way, Lillipup had found a few friends! Arching it's back before putting it's rump into the air while it's tail waved back and forth, Lillipup pawed at the ground playfully. Hopefully it was about to make some friends! Wild Lillipup just wants to be friends and play! (Level 10) [Fight] or [Flight]?

Marchbaby was stunned to see a Pokemon from the Unova region suddenly appear in front of him. The last time he had seen a Lillipup was during the Unova festival way back. He knew they were common in Unova however in Johto they were far less common. That and poor Flammenwerfer not having too many playmates of her age made this little puppy a perfect find. It seemd to be really friendly however at the same time he was not very experienced in what to expect of a Lillipup so he was cautious to made any sudden moves. Blubber and Bonecrusher wanted to just go up and hug the small canine however Alpha got between the three preventing the young dragon and dinosaur from making a new friend before turning to face the small dog.
" Alpha please tell me you are not about to attack this poor little thing. It just wants to make a friend not get put through a tree by getting rammed by you." However Alpha was determined to pick a fight with it whether or not Marchbaby liked the idea of beating up such a young and friendly Pokemon. If there was anything Marchbaby had learned since getting Alpha it was that they were bred to ram everything in sight no matter how friendly and that nature was shining through here. " This is going to end so badly I already know I will regret this battle when it is over but I know trying to talk you out of it is a moot point. If you do not knock it out though I will capture it to protect it from having to face your wrath. So long as you can agree to that term I will let you battle it."
Alpha winked before getting into position to charge the young pup. Not showing any regard for the canines friendly demeanor Alpha was ready to put a Lillipup sized hole in whatever tree it could aim for. " Lillipup I hope you can understand what is about to happen. Sadly Beldum are very hardheaded and you are a rare sight around these parts so Alpha would never stop until it gets a chance to battle you. Alright Alpha let's use Take Down and make it quick. I actually want it to get back up so I can capture it as I do think he will make a great friend for dear Flammernwerfer. She really could use a friend." He said before ALpha charged ahead with it's attack.

Even though it was trying to make a friend, this.... strange floating metal look neither friendly and unfriendly. It was... a bit too neutral to make the Lillipup feel either way about this Pokemon. Looking at the opponent WITH THE MOST ADORABLE AND CUTE PUPPY EYES, the Lillipup was hoping the Beldum wouldn't hit it as hard. If only. The Beldum's stainless steel body made the steel type ignored the adorable puppy face. The facial expression seemed to be reflected off the Belum's sight or something. Floating forward with a force of its own, Alpha slammed its hard body toward the Lillipup. Thankfully, the young steel type wasn't powerful enough to knock that cute face out, and allowed Marchaby a chance to capture this Unovan furball, if he wanted to.

Watching as Lillipup slowly recovered from the Take Down attack Marchbaby was not about to let his young Beldum have another go as he knew the next hit would have a good chance of killing the young canine. Even Blubber was greatly upset by the attack and she slithered around Alpha blocking the Beldum's path for another charge ready to take a hit herself if it meant protecting the young pup from taking another hit. As much as Alpha wanted to charge again it was clear that it would have to go through both the young dragon and it's trainer to do so and that was not about to happen. As it partially closed it's eye it moved back allowing Blubber to take it's position as it waited for a new foe to appear.
" That sure was a close one. Well Lillipup I am glad to see you are still standing. It takes some strength to get back up after taking such a powerful hit and I think you would make a great friend for Flammerwerfer. Blubber I want you to take one for the team here as I am confident you will be able to handle getting attacked once especially with how poor of shape this young thing is in." As she braced herself to take a hit Marchbaby began to dig around in his backpack looking for a Great Ball to throw at the young pooch so he could capture it. His backpack was full of items and finding one of the balls was no easy task as he dug through each compartment. After searching for quite some time he found one. He then zipped up his backpack as he took a firm grip on the ball getting ready to toss it at the young normal type.
" Lillipup if you let me capture you I can take you to a Pokemon center to get you all fixed up. Blubber here wants to see you recover as well since just by looking at you I know you are in a lot of pain right now. After you are fully healed I can take you to Flammernwerfer who I think will fall in love with you at first sight. Does that sound good to you." As the young pup began to wag it's tail he threw the ball at Lillipup and began to wait to see if the pup was messing with him or if it really liked the idea.

All of the Pokemon seemed visibly upset, aside from Alpha who seemed incapable of facial expressions. Blubber was more than willing to switch out and take a hit for the team if need be, as long as March went through with his intentions of catching the pup. After the adorable display of the cute eyes, how could anyone refuse? With the back-thought to pair Flammenwerfer with this Lillipup, the Growlithe and pup would get along swimmingly. As the Great ball flew into the air, Lillipup only had a few moments to consider what Marchbaby had said, as well as it's own wounds to deal with. The trainer that had ordered such a strong attack wanted to capture Lillipup? Perhaps it was the eyes that did it. Either way, a decision had to be made. Lillipup could feel the fatigue pulling at it's limbs as time progressed. Taking such a heavy attack left it a bit winded, and fighting the Pokeball might have been too much to bear. However, if Lillipup went with the trainer, perhaps it could get stronger? The 'pup didn't know who Flammenwerfer was, but as long as it wasn't the steel blue thing, completely emotionless as it attacked, then the pup might not have such a bad time. The Greatball plinked against Lillipup, engulfing it in a bright red light as it was materialized into the center of the blue capsule. The ball settled itself on the ground and began it's shaking. Life in the wild wasn't necessarily the best for Lillipup, and having been a swarm Pokemon meant that it was hard enough finding a home anywhere. Some Lillipup managed to find an empty den and stay on the route but this canine had no such luck. Perhaps this trainer could be it's home? The ball shook. Blubber watched with anticipation, preparing herself just in case a retaliation attack came if the pup burst out of the ball. The ball shook once... . . . Twice! . . . Thrice! . . . *TING* Congratulations! Lillipup has been captured! As the Great Ball sealed shut Marchbaby let out a sigh of relief that the poor puppy would not get attacked by Alpha again. Just when he thought the news could not get any better Blubber suddenly had a pink flame shoot out of her mouth into the sky and Marchbaby recognized it as being Dragon Breath. " That was Dragon Breath! Yes I am so happy you finally learned a dragon type move. We still have a long journey ahead but knowing a dragon type move will be a huge help. Dragon Breath can paralyze it's target's and unlike electric types it can hit ground types which is always useful." He said as the young dragon looked at him wondering what he was blabbering on about. Alpha on the other hand was still a bit upset that it did not get to use Take Down on Lillipup again as it looked for another target. " I am sorry I had to stop you there ALpha but you would have killed that poor Lillipup if I did not stop you. I had no choice there but I hope you can understand." He said as the young Beldum did not pay him any attention at all and Bonecrusher stood beside Blubber wondering what in the world might happen next with how crazy the last battle had turned out. Blubber getting a dragon type move and Lillipup being captured safe were both fantastic pieces of news but Alpha had still not evolved yet and it would not stand a chance near GOldenrod before it was able to do so. That and Marchbaby was still on the hunt for some Pokemon as well so it would be a long time before he would have a chance to visit the city again despite knowing that his brother must be getting close to Goldenrod by now. " Alright we will be here for a while longer anyways so everyone keep a lookout for anything that heads our way. In the event you notice anything please point it out so that Alpha can use Take Down on it and then we will go from there. Alpha I trust you are still willing to keep training despite that last setback aren't you?" He said as the Beldum paused for a moment before finally winking at him. Though Alpha was still mad about the last battle there would be plenty of other foes to face and so long as it got to battle it could not stay mad for too long.
